well, if your packing ARs or more, then your probably not worried about concealing it :/ chameleon coating on pistols, and SMGs as you stated above, makes things a bit ridiculous, perception 5, INT 5, visual spec, and +3 sight enhancement. for a holdout stated above, that's negating A LOT of points. for 1 karma or 1bp. all that perception = not but a lowly 7 dice. not to mention any other modifiers. which if you wanted to, could get up to about -12 dice pool. its one of those things like emotitoys, why doesn't everyone have it?
Chameleon Coating requires 2 of your 6 mod slots. Further, the primary purpose of it tends to change depending on a weapon size. The first benefit is the -4 perception penalty to spot the weapon. The second benefit is that it's required in order to get the full perception penalty benefit from ruthenium coated clothing. If you have a weapon out that is not chameleon coated then you only grant a -2 perception penalty rather than a -4.
The larger the weapon and the more likely you're grabbing it for the 2nd benefit. The smaller the weapon and the more likely you're grabbing it for the first.
