Doesn't that apply to everywhere in Shadowrun?

Not necessarily. Being rich won't help you much in Bogotá or Chicago.

Today or in Shadowrun?
I meant today. Thanks.

So why Montreal rather than Toronto or Vancouver 2074? Both the Canadian portion of the UCAS and the NAN are also fairly underrepresented.

Depends on how rich you are. It's not too bad being in either place if you can afford to bring a thousand well-equipped mercenaries with you.

Montreal 2074 has a mention about a certain class divide. If you're rich and a not very nice person, Montreal is actually pretty cool because there is a bit of a feudal mentality. You're like a noble in Renaissance times - you get to step on the little guys and they grudginly accept that because you're just "better". Plus you get to dress up real nice, there is a real "upper class" fashion movement. I'll be honest, this is strongly inspired by Deus Ex Human Revolutions - but it fits well in Montreal as Quebec has always had a bit of a rub towards succesfull people. What's in Montreal 2074 is of course a dystopian magnification of currents that exist today. Our very socialist system, and historical anglo vs francophone class divide, makes people assume "the rich people" fucked someone over to get what they got - you must be an asshole. Montreal 2074 amplifies that to dystopian levels. So, so long as you pretty heartless, being rich in Montreal 2074 isn't that bad at all. If you're rich and you sort of care about people, it would be rather uncomfortable, though.

So at least from your side, there was no consideration of what needs to be supported with more material. Got it.

Yeah. This goes back to how PDF-only products are developped. It's been discussed in other threads, probably better that I will right now, but PDF only products are 100% pitched by authors. It's something we pitch to CGL, and if they like it, they greenlight it for us to work on. So, PDF-only don't fit into the bigger picture as much as other projects. As Critias said well, it's something they didn't know they wanted, and we convinced them it was a good idea.

So, certainly not saying other Canadian cities are axed out - like you say, they simply weren't considered at this level.

Yeah, so if I wanted to pitch a Toronto publication as Hollywood north, it might get through. Or if Canray wanted to write something about Winnipeg as .... as ..... ??? Oh!! As Lagos West! Then, yeah he could do that, too.

I'm an immigrant here in Winnipeg.

I'd have to write about Northern Ontario and the drekhole of a town I lived in there.

Immigrants often have a better perspective on their adopted home than those born there.
