I finally got around to typing up the responses on the 20 questions for Jengo.
20 Questions[ Spoiler ]
1) What's your heritage? close to 100% pure Japanese (there are one or two ancestors that aren't officially acknowledged in the ancestory)
2) What would your parents say about you? His parents are traditional Japanese, when he left the corporation, he no longer exists to them. They have no third son; He has two older brothers that likewise will have nothing to do with him, though they are at least untraditional enough to acknowledge that they have a brother. His younger sister doesn't care about such thing and will still talk to him from time to time.
3) What historical events does your character remember? Growing up within Mitsuhama, he was pretty disconnected from the "real" world events (part of why he was so naive to be tempted by Renraku); He was intimately impacted by Mitsuhama pulling out of the Tsimshian in 2065. He had been told that is where he would be moving to once out of college. He hung his hopes of getting out from under the shadow of his father's and two older brothers reputations and for making a name of his own on the idea of a far away office in an "exotic" land (even a plundered NAN is exotic to somebody who's never stepped outside of corp owned property)
4) How did you get into shadowrunning, and why? First, an agent of Renraku had managed to lure the disgruntled Masao into leaving the mother corporation; His grades in school and various minor projects he had been given showed great promise (just not as great as his brothers had shown) and he ended up excelling quite handsomely at Renraku. The only problem being that he was never the one to get the credit. His bosses, all born into the Renraku family, took the credit and the promotions time and time again. It didn't take too long before Jengo started filling like there whipping boy and became disgruntled once more. this time instead of running away, he took matters into his own hands. He started siphoning off money here and there from project budgets, forging documents as if he were the boss and what not. He ended up finding a bit of happiness with that, but eventually Renraku's automated systems caught on to something going wrong. It was only blind luck that had the automated systems try to contact his dummy manager account about the irregularity first that gave him enough time to get out with the shirt on his back. He fell yet again, and has been struggling to pick himself up ever since. Swearing to never be a slave to the corps again, he decided to take to the shadows with his whit and good lucks. So far it's been working out rather well for him.
5) What is your living space like? Jengo has a small apartment in downtown Seattle. It may not be much, but it is in a good part of town and close enough to the rich side of town that he isn't too far away from the clubs and bars he likes to talk his way into.
6) What are your beliefs / convictions (if any) and why do you hold them? He has few convictions other than never wanting to give the corps power over him again. He believes working for them makes you a slave, and he will never be that again. He is willing to take there money though, especially after he gouges them for everything they've got at the negotiations table (he always leaves the table with a smile)
7) what do you think is your most annoying / worst trait? His over-confidence/bravado can be extremely annoying at time, but somehow his silver tongue makes you like him despite that
8 ) What megacorp do you like the most? the Least? Why? He hates all of the megacorps, but most of all he hates Renraku for the dirty trick of convincing him to through away his cushy life of a corporate SINner, and Mitsuhama for not allowing him to come back into the fold after he realized his stupidity
9) How did you come to know your contacts? He made them all at various nightclubs/bars he is found of going to
10) What do you do on a day off? most evenings he can be found at whatever club or bar is THE club/bar of the moment with the high society types.
11) How did you come to learn your skills at your present proficiency?Much of his social skills came as a natural talent, he's honed it over the years though, first to be the best manager he could be and after escaping Renraku to get the most money for the work he does; Once in the shadows, he discovered that he would need some other skills though and so he began training with a gun. Then he found his real weapon of choice...the monofilament whip. The traditional symbol of slavery. How could he not take that up to strike back at the corps that tried to make him their slave?
12) Are there any moral limits on what jobs you take or things you'll do? He's not a cold-blooded killer. he prefers not to take wetwork, and he refuses to take any such job unless he can know the reason for the killing. He also won't force anybody into working for a corp. So he only takes on willing extraction jobs
13) How do you view magic / technomantic abilities? The few interactions he's had with magic have taught him to fear it's effects. When it's on his side, he loves it. When it's pitted against him, he does everything he can to deal with the mage before the mage deals with him. He isn't sure he believes in technomancy, it just seems too much like an urban legend told to spook the uninitiated
14) How do you view augmentation / implantation? He has to admit that he feels less human after each implant he's gotten, but damn are they effective. So far it's been a cost he's willing to pay to make him better in his chosen field.
15) What do you think of ordinary life and those who live it? He thinks they are all blind sheep, but he can't begrudge the normies for their blissful ignorance, he'd be tempted if somebody gave him the option to forget the struggle of his current life for a more "normal" one, but then he remembers it would make him a slave to the corps again and he snaps out of it.
16) What would be a bad nightmare for you? Any deep-rooted fears? Why is it so frightening to you? His most recurring nightmare is being a mindless paper pusher in the depths of a corporate dungeon, being whipped by a boss that can't even be bothered to look at the work he's doing.
17) What is your 'sacred object' or 'close one', and how did they become so important to you? Jengo has very much fetishized his whip as the perfect tool to strike his own path through the rubble of corporations
18) What did you want to become as a child, and what are your goals now? As a child he just wanted to make his daddy proud, to shine bright and become one of the leaders of Mitsuhama, now he still wants to be somebody, but on his own terms and to hell with approval from his father or anybody else
19) What does your character look like, and what inspired her choices? He is a quite handsome young Japanese man with dark hair and a slash of neon green hair along one side to attract the eye; he's always dressed in a nice suit
20) How did you get your street name? He randomly came across the word in some old urban dictionary. It's meaning "An amalgamation of two or more venereal/sexually transmitted diseases" struct him as the perfect description of his view of his relationship to Mitsuhama and Renraku
