How does dumpshock even work? wink.gif

According to the book, it is kicked out by the sim module, which is part of your commlink.

If you access your commlink wirelessly w/o a direct connection (didn't see anything that implies the connection has to be direct for VR), how does it shock you? biggrin.gif

These rules are so weird in places...

Basically, any time you are in VR and do not use the proper action to change modes before going back to the real world, you get dump shock.
Thanee
No, they are watching the perimeter, that is correct. But you had to run through their field-of-vision to get to the car.

Also, the car has sensors as well. wink.gif

I meant, how would the sim module be able to send you the shock, if there is no cable attached. wink.gif

Either way, dumpshock is 6S/P and resisted still, so that wouldn't fry him.

You aren't sending dump shock - it's just an effect of suddenly having chaotic input directly into your brain.
Thanee
Refering to this part here (from the SR5 core book):

"When you’re disconnected from the Matrix while in VR without gracefully switching to AR first, you suffer a nasty shock as your sim module kicks out."

But really, it's just rambling. Was mostly wondering how dumpshock happens, and what would happen, if your DNI suddenly disappeared (like, when you become a turtle). biggrin.gif

Doesn't Mindlink require a voluntary target?

Yes, but I assume, he won't resist communication
Thanee
He does not know what you are doing. wink.gif

Small note - of an inconsequential nature - that turtles are reptiles, not amphibians. Bobby's an expert zoologist so I figure he would know.
Jack_Spade
Yeah, good catch - reptile disfunction on my part wink.gif

I don't think you need to know how the spell works - I imagine it's like a phone call - if you don't want to talk, you can hang up.
Thanee
Ok, sure. We can do it that way. smile.gif

Was just going to say... the problem with that Mindlink spell is, that the rest isn't really able to take part much. So, thumbs up! smile.gif

Hi folks, obviously I've not managed to get myself to engage with the game in ages. Please assume that Tamarind saw someone from her past life, got spooked and ran off with her drones . (Obviously if I return I won't take any rewards from this run).

When this run wraps up I'll be back in touch and we can figure out if I think I can return to consistency and if you all want to take a chance on me doi5so.
Tecumseh
Beta, good to hear from you. Always nice to know that folks are still alive and kicking.

I'm slowing down due to the US holidays. (Will be especially slow this week since I won't be at my computer at work.)

I don't think that is even remotely necessary. smile.gif

We can just keep Tamarind around and in the background (driving the car, providing drone overwatch).

Hope you are feeling better soon!
