For those that wanted it:

original e-mail (they've snipped off the initial paragraph which talked about the way the book is written and that whole seperate quest for powers thing, and I emptied my sent items in June. The question was asked september 2003):

>What I'd like to know is: does this mean that a character can only
>learn ONE technique per grade, and that at the time of initiation, or
>can a character learn more techinuques between grades if they roleplay
>their way into a spirit or other teachers' good books, for instance, or
>just decide to do a quest to learn one?

Reply:

Hi,

It's one technique per grade. In SR2 magicians could learn any number of
techniques, but this was too powerful so we changed it in SR3.

So there you go.
Fortune
MitS is Magic in the Shadows - the 3rd edition grimoire.

BBB stands for Big Black Book - another name for the SR3 core rule book.

As to Spirits crossing Domain lines, there is a Metamagic in SR3 called Invoking, which allows an Initiate to Conjure Great Form Spirits or Elementals. These Spirits can indeed cross Domain lines, but normal, non-Great Form Spirits still cannot, even if controlled by the same Shaman who Conjured the Great Form.
