Most Federal crimes are non-violent so it stands to reason that federal prisoners are, as a whole, less inclined to violence than state prisoners. In fact, there is not a single maximum security facility listed on the Buearu of Prisons website.

That might be true for the States, but other countries work things differently. Canada, for instance, sends anyone sentenced to more than 2 years to a Federal institution, and those with a lesser sentence to a Provincial (state) institution.
This pretty much leads to the opposite of what you cite ... the 'harder' and more dangerous criminals are in the (much) better facilities of the Federal system.

Yes, but I don't care about other countries. I was only discussing the U.S.

Really? Then you should be more specific.
As for the States, it has been my experience that Federal institutions are better funded, and have better facilities than most of their State-run counterparts. Make of that what you will.

I care, so if you come across any really good prison links send them my way. I've done a lot of reading (Only reading too, unfortunately) on Australia, Engalnd and a few other prison systems (Russian prisons are pretty easy to get info on) but I can't get some places at all-Like the Netherlands, Japan and a few other places.
If anyone comes across stuff on these or other prison articles they'd think I'd be intrested in, please feel free to forward them to me.
