QUOTE (Kesh)
1) What are the BP costs for an Adept, Technomancer, or other magical build options?

Adept 5
Mystic Adept 10
Magician 15
Technomancer 5

These values are VERY low in terms of build points, until you realize that you also have to purchase your Magic and Resonance attributes and build them up, as well as buy spells and complex forms.
QUOTE
2) Do the wireless connection devices (what are they termed?) have to be plugged into a datajack or using 'trodes?
Commlinks, and many of them can be accessed using a datajack or 'trodes.
QUOTE
4) Any Qualities that stand out as interesting and/or useful?
The qualities are very similar to the equivalent edges and flaws, but some are completely different. Uncouth, Uneducated, and Infirm, for example, have been put on steroids and now should only be taken by characters who don't want Social, Knowledge, or Physical skills respectively... it takes twice as long to learn the respective skills, and you are in the "Unaware" category for skills that you don't have, which means you can't default to an attribute (or rather, you automatically fail).
QUOTE
5) So, what's up with the Sex section? biggrin.gif
I'm not going to answer this one. nyahnyah.gif Suffice to say, it's a shortened version of the same information in the Sprawl Survival Guide.
Ellery
They're not so low-but-not-low if you look at the Weapon Specialist and think, "Hm, how much would it cost to add minimal magical ability here." They're just plain low.

Wait, i thought mages got screwed? grinbig.gif

According to Rob at the Fanpro seminar, the Binder the printers sent the material to had some issues, and their main binding machine broke, thus the delay of the books. They were literally express shipping them as they came off the presses, and were being driving down to the con at least once a day from the Chicago Warehouse by friends of the FanPro crew so that we had any to sell.

I guess... but I will never know for sure smile.gif

Well, i just got in from about a 12 hour drive back to NC from Indy. I started this thread to kinda just tell people about my gencon weekend. I was planning to update it every morning with the days happenings. Yeah after playing SR until 4am every morning, just getting to the conn in time for our 1pm games was rough. And it seems most people have just put up game info, which is kewl, so far I have found most of Sr4 to be balanced.

This sunday morning when i woke up i KNEW what i wanted to say here. That I was sad that I could not buy a copy of SR4 even though thats basically why i convinced my group to go to Gencon. And guys that did not get a book, I feel your pain. Because we like everyone else wanted a copy of Sr4, but just could not go on the 2 hours of sleep to get up and be waiting in line at 8am for the con doors to open at 10. So we had decided that we were going to have to do without the LE and just wait until we could just buy the new edition at home. The only thing left we had to do at the con was stop by to see how we did at the Sr tournament. We knew we had completed the run* which if anyone wants, and it is allowed to speak of, I would love to do a report on* but, did not think we had done it in a exemplary way. There was lots of death, and just plain getting caught which just leads to death via HTR teams. Anyway, Brett I think was the name of the GM announcing the winners of the Corp. Ghost tournament. When he announced 3 places, I was very optimistic that we might get 3rd and a nice copy of SOA. But that went to I think a "kingston/kinston" group. So after that, everyone in my group had their hopes go into the crapper. A team leo, took second and WAS not even there to collect the 6 reg. SR4 manuals. GUYS get in touch with people if you can smile.gif Well the big buildup here is not for naught. When first place was announced all 5 of my teammates looked around the room for the winning team, then looked at each other in awe. WOOT smile.gif we won eek.gif And the reason why was ... i am very proud to say, thanks to a great group of friends and teammates and GM's *not to forget lady luck, cuz thats all you got when your hacking a red 20 wink.gif *. At 1pm this afternoon my friends and I's con experience went from moderately enjoyable to lifelong memory. That will be my memory of Gencon, not the lines or the high priced food and hotel room, or the 12 hours of pain driving, nor even the lack of sleep.

Sometime, if anyone wants, I will put up a day to day on what happened at the Con SR wise, and like i said i would love to be able to tell the story of our run. If its ok and that run is not going to be used again, I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

well I am off to sleep, if anyone cares I was the white guy in a black shirt with glasses, 6'1 180 pounds. no goatee. black hair with a kinda short haircut. Its was nice to be able to put a face to some of the people i have talked to here.

I actually meant forum members at the cons. For example, Tisoz was at origins and GC, and we have no clue who he is. smile.gif

I think I have a terrible rep on this forum, but I like it (the forum) and just about everyone here.

Bull, I asked about you. I don't think we were present at the same time, other than maybe Saturday at 1 pm when the LE line wrapped around the demo tables. But that was chaos. I think I got a glimps of Adam in the booth momentarily Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't in my best mood at either time, so probably just as well I stayed anonymous.

Who from the forums was at the booth? Freelancers? I know at least one artist, any others? If any of the female contributors attended I did not recognize them, or didn't know what they looked like.
Phoniex
Yeah, i wanted to introduce myself and say hi, but every time i went NEAR the booth there were about 20 people around, when i got adam, rob, and drew to sign the book it took about 10 minutes of waiting before they were done talking to people. Thats why i was kinda disappointed when no Dev ever came up to the SR game room frown.gif I understand your busy as hell, i saw that. but at least for 5 minutes to give out the prizes to teams that played hard as hell for 3 days. I was sad frown.gif Well there is always next year, and now my friends and I have a reason to go back. To defend our "title" wink.gif

And Tisoz is right, if i had met you, well i would have been upset because I did NOT think i was going to come home with a book. So i would have been bitchy.

Anyway i got to see you, stood around one of your SR4 demos for a while, got to see the green haired leader of fanpro, and shook adam's hand. So i was fine, and truth be told I would think that you guys would hate to have people come up and bother you about some forum post or rule/errata or whatever.

Lessee... Thursday and Friday I was there pretty much non stop all day, over at the demo table. Saturday I was there at 10 to help with crowd control and lines, then went to the FanPro seminar at 11. Got back about 12:30, but it was already crowded and so I wandered off to actually visit the dealer room a bit (which I hadn't until then). Other than that I was there off and on, usually over at the demo table either watching, running, or helping Brian do his demo's.

As for who was there... Adam, Brian Cross, and Drew Littell were all working the booth. Michelle Lyons (Lady Anaka) and Robyn King-Nitschke (Rat/Winterhawk11) were around. Steve Kenson was generally over at Green Ronin. Rich Tomasso was there, but he was usually GMing events up in 206. I'm sure there were a few others I'm forgetting.

Klaus Scherwinksi was the artist who was hanging around the booth most of the weekend. He's a really cool guy to talk to. Shane Coppage was also there for a bit on Saturday, I believe. Steve Ellis was over in the artists area, as was Nigel Sade. Nigel gets "Cool Symbols" art credit, which i find amusing. he did all the funky symbols you see in the background and such throughout the book. Steve and Shane both did color plates (Steve did the Troll Bounty Hunter and Shane did the Ork Hacker), and Klaus did some B&W art in this one, and did the cover to SoE, I believe.

PLus plenty of playtesters smile.gif

As Phoenix said earlier:

Team Gamma, which I was part of having played Brent the shotgun toting bodyguard with shotguns and an arrogant personality, managed to take 1st place. The other players in the Team were great, extremely great. We chatted after the last of the 24 hours of the tournament, grabbed some sleep or soda and the next day at the 'award announcements' heard that we had won.

I had a great time, an extremely great time.

tisoz
Bull, is there a picture of you online anywhere? After you came online and reported you were running demos is when I asked about you. I asked about the guy running demos that goes by Bull online and they gave me a funny look, then pointed down to the empty tables. I'm not sur, but is your last name Rat... something?

I ask about a picture because a couple of the guys out in the line directing people were helpful and I wonder if one was you. Neither fit my preconceived notion of you though.

Sat and early Sun, I was the old, big guy wearing the light blue gencon volunteer t-shirt.

Hoi Gamma, we had some great runs and much fun! This was, I think, my 4th time as a player in the SR Tourney, but the first time ever to be on the #1 team (came in #2 twice).

The Tourney was a blast, the story was intriguing, the action exciting, and the gms were excellent. Thank you Craig, Josh, and George for being great storytellers, and to Moo for putting it together.

It's an old picture (GenCon 2002, in fact), but I have one of Bull available here.

Sadly, I couldn't make it to GC this year. I was barely able to make it to Origins, else I would've been around for all the release hoopla and signed a bunch of books.
