Hi folks,
I'm trying to keep on top of the new programs released for SR4. Please post program announcements [such as new releases, updated releases, etc] in this thread. This includes stuff like auto-calculating spreadsheets, web apps, etc. If you could stick to a simple format it would be great: Program Name Platform/Operating System Required Short Description of what it does Link to where you can get it. Link to another forum thread that discusses the program. Please, no discussions -- just announcements. Additionally, announcements will be deleted when they are no longer relevant. That is, when you announce version 1.1 of YourCoolApp, I'll delete the announcement to version 1.0, so only the latest update shows up. |

SR4 Excel Character Creator Spreadsheet
Pretty complete version for creating characters for Shadowrun 4th edition. Intended for offline play, so it prints out a nice character sheet that resembles the one in the book. It has been reported to work in Open Office, so having Excel is not a requirement. Dumpshock Development Thread See the last post for the latest version. Wizdoc |

Dice Roller Options/Inquiries-
I couldn't find a forum to make requests, so I'm dropping this one here. The group here is looking for SR4 dice roller programs that can be run on two platforms; Palm/PDA Cell Phones (XML/Java?) Anyone know of such little gadgeteer/monsters for this? |

I've got an SR4 Dice Roller. Please bear in mind that this is my first attempt at coding. It does keep track of the Rule of 6 if Edge is used, as well as the Rule of One. No support yet for Opposed or Extended tests yet, but maybe in a future release.
Go here. |

Welcome!! I love seeing other Mac users. Yeah I can be bigotted about the O/S sometimes. Bad news is that there is no native "MAC" chargen. There are some Excel Spreadsheet programs (can I really call them programs?) that work on the Mac. Either in Excel, NeoOffice, or OpenOffice. There are no native apps for Macs (yet). If I had the time to re-teach myself C++, I would start coding apps for the Mac. But I dont have the time to re-teach myself C++ so I cant do it. dog |

This just in: Aaron rocks! Not only does he share a name with my youngest brother, but he's hosting the new home for lastest version of the SR4Chargen file. 8)
SR4Chargen - UPDATED RELEASE Operating Platform: Requires the ability to open an Microsoft Excel XLS file. Does function with Open Office 2.0 (NOTE: That is it did function with OO prior to this last update. I haven't tested the latest interation yet, but don't expect any issues. Please let me know, good or bad, if you happen to use it in OO.) Description: Spreadsheet for creating characters. Includes support for all awakened types, technomancers, cyber/bio, cyberlimb capacities, and negative/positive Qualities. The design is mainly aimed at character creation as opposed to character maintenance. It also supports a couple of house rules I happen to like, but they are clearly marked and have obvious controls to turn them on and off. Latested update includes support for Street Magic. There is also support for a house rules wealth and contact sub-system currently being worked on privately. However I will not be circulating the actual underlying rules till more actual gameplay testing is done. Download it here. Version Control: Date above Legend at the top right Main_Sheet now reads "2006/Oct/4". Known Issuses: When openning with Open Office 2.0 you may get a warning that the file contains a macro. It does not, and you get no such warning with Excel. Looked into how to resolve it and it seemed to involved rebuilding the entire sheet. Sorry, you'll just have to live with the spurious message for now if you use Open Office. |

Here is another dice roller for SR4, but this is web-based: ShadowDice
It is written in Javascript, so everyone can see the source. Don't poke holes at it, it is just something I knocked together a while back. Also, here is an MIDP 2.0 compatible version of ShadowDice for Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices: ShadowDice Mobile The JavaME source is available at that URL, but I am not going to support anyone who wants to use it. It took me quite a while to get the program working on my HTC TyTN-based mobile phone, and you might find it is an interesting learning curve to get it working on your own mobile device! I'm sorry if I have conflicted with somebody else's program name, but I wrote this months ago and have only just got around to putting it on the internet. I can't be bothered to change all the little details! ;) |

SR4 Light
(Works on Windows but you can find instructions on how to get it on other OSes in the readme.) SR4 Light converts Shadowrun PDF into light HTML files while keeping the original formatting, to allow browsing on mobile devices which have trouble with big PDF files. Most aren't exactly "programs", but they are still useful SR4 game aides:
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?act=...=ST&f=3&t=18083 (main post w/links) VegPacket - huge PDF that's useful as an ingame reference sheet for common activities (great for newbies) NPC Sheets - customizable OpenOffice/Word sheets for NPCs Miniature Movement House Rules - my own adaptation of SR4 to minis (PDF) Grunt & Lieutenant Creation Guide - baseline guidelines for making throw-away NPCs (PDF) OpenRPG+ - I wrote the SR4 initiative tool and SR4 diceroller, both included in the program (requires python, works on most OSs, instructions on site) PBWiki - wiki version of SR4 character sheet (free hosting, copy&paste design) |

One more time
Announcing SR4 Grunt Builder version 1.1, an Excel 2003 spread sheet, that can quickly put together the all the combat information for two grunt squads (each w/ the lieutenant). Everything you need to run a non magical combat. Includes Armor Dice Pools, Weapons, Defensive Pools, and ammo effects on one sheet of paper. You can see the final sheet (1/2 of a page) at http://groups.google.com/group/SOTASR4/web/squad-builder It is black and white and fuzzy from being reduced enough to put it on the page. This speeds up game prep to no end when you can enter a few stats and skills then use pull down menu to select some weapons and armor. It also makes combat go much faster because every thing you need is right on the sheet. It is still a work in progress, but should prove very helpful. Suggestions are welcomed. This is designed to let a busy GM quickly whip out the opposition and have every thing he needs to run the combat. Set the base stats, set the metahuman race, set the weapons, then set the skills. Then add any mods to stats, skills, and weapons. The Weapons are laid out for easy use during a combat (Weapon name, Dice Pool, Damager, AP, Recoil Compensation, Capacity, Armor type and so on. The Defense and Armor pools are all laid out on the left edge. So pick the weapon, roll the dice, give the damage with the AP mod to the armor and go on. Most things have a Mod field so you can adjust stuff quick and easy. Use the Build sheet to build the squad and the Grunt Sheet to view and print it. The next project is to do the same for spellcasters. Go to http://groups.google.com/group/SOTASR4/files The spread sheet is SR GruntBuilder7 2003.xls SR Grunt Builder7 2003.xls Also http://sotasr4.googlegroups.com/web/SR+Gru...ilder7+2003.xls You can also click the following link, but will get a Google Found and will have to click that link. 2007 Excel version to follow. The following Grunt Squad Sheets are ready for use in the SOTA Files section. Most of them are from the main book. Humanis 0 and Gangers 1.xls Corp Security 2 and Lonestar 3.xls Rusted Stilettos 3 and Wannabe Samurai 3.xlsm Triad Posse 4 and Red Samurai 5.xls |
