My recollection is that I've assembled a list of gear that we need. Porter was going to go in with you guys and play geek since he wsa the only one on the team with the tech skills to identify what we need. If Sweetness has a tech-savvy escort, that would be fine as well. We need to identify who has the exact items we need and then either knock over the expo and get our stuff, plus tons of swag, or take them at the hotel. In transit via skycab is going to make things much harder.
Need to find out:
Who has our stuff...
Where are they storing it during the expo...
Are the skycabs flown by people or automated...
How much security is there after hours, so that we can kick down doors and loot everything...

Meriss - Cute

And you can always choose to buy hits if you want. Standard 4=1 ratio.
@
Bishop - When you say "Who has our stuff..." do you mean who in the company is physically carrying it, or the companies? I thought I already gave you the companies?
And is anyone making rolls to try and track down the information
Bishop mentioned, or walking the floor or something similar?

Atreus will assist with gathering intel on foot. He will disguise himself and could use Porter's assistance to insure there are no traces of his passing..
BishopMcQ
Aug 29 2007, 07:37 AM
Fenris--The "Who has our stuff" comment is the team deciding which dealers we were going to target specifically for which pieces of gear. It's more of an internal discussion so we can decide if we want to hit 1-2 people heavily or spread or filching out over several vendors to make it less noticeable.
Team-Thoughts?

Aug 30 2007, 03:12 PM

Ok - Let's talk about what we are targeting.
I assume the following:
1) High end, prototype coms or hardware (Response: 5-6; Signal: 4-6)
2) New, cutting edge operating systems (System: 5-6; Firewall: 6)
3) SOTA software: Rating 6 applications.
Am I missing anything?
@Meriss
That looks like a good split of teams. Porter & Clay are staying outside to cover the retreat/cleanse logs, correct?

@Fenris Ah, I guess the question is if Sweetness' escort meets Porter's requirements?

It might work if the escort can simply record as much as needing to know what to look for.
Fenris
Aug 30 2007, 06:43 PM
@
DireRadiant - You know from past experience that the escort will have expert level skill (4-5) in applicable subject matter. In this case, it's safe to assume both electronics and computer skill groups.
@
Meriss - The best way in you've managed to find is a thin space in the ceiling. Due to a series of structural requirements, the section is fairly weak and can be cut (or whatever) through with a minimum of effort and noise. A narrow crawlspace will give access to a drop ceiling in the offices on the top floor of the Omnidome, and from there the internal elevator shafts. It's likely there's some sort of security in the elevator shafts, however.
So, group split looks good. Are you guys going in at night or during the day, smash and grab or stealth thing? I'm more asking questions now because it's Thursday and the way things are looking, I'll be making alot of rolls and pushing the thread forward through quite a bit of action this weekend
DireRadiant
Aug 30 2007, 06:55 PM
Then Sweetness and escort will attend the event to assist in targeting according to Porters instructions, and then Sweetness will assist Dervish in whatever he intends to do at that point.

Did we ever get IDs that identified us as event staff? If so, I say we hit it just as the expo doors open. There will be utter chaos (think GenCon)...
Meriss
Aug 31 2007, 03:18 AM
@All: the team split was just a suggestion, if anyone can think of a better split goe for. I'm just basing it on the fact that Dervish, Atreus and Caly can hold their own in combat. Whereas Inkari, Porter, and Sweetness strike me as the less phyical type. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
@Fenris: Dervish prefers the stealth route. With lots of distractions. Honestly I'm not trying to hog the spot here it's just the way he was built.
@Red: I never evan thought about covering exits. See my All post. I don't think we got the IDs, but Bishop would be the one to ask. I like the idea of the door opening hit. If we can do this near the beginning of the expo it will work that much better. (Stop teasing about GenCon!)
Buddha72
Aug 31 2007, 05:36 PM
Ikari at this point is better at combat than mojo slinging. I always love the action junkie route since I tend to play physical characters. I like the idea of the raw chaos of striking at the opening. We just need to be sure everyone can get away clean from such a scenario. She has spells to help her escape undetected.
So if we want the gear pre-tagged how does that work with the smash and grab in the morning?
Meriss

Spoof ID -- Buy hits
Tracking down 3 Rating 2 nodes (1 in Seattle, 1 in Denver, 1 in Hong Kong)
Breach the node, and hack from one to the next, creating 3 hosts for any Track IC to need to hack through before continuing the Trace. (I'll buy the hits I need, the nodes rating is too low for me to be detected.)
Analyze the Expo System-Buy 3 hits
Per Fenris
Rating=6
Alert Status= Not on Active Alert
Type of Node= Tiered
Probe quietly for exploit (Need Admin rights)
Buy 3 hits per test, takes 4 hours for a rating 6 node with Admin
(Stealth Program Rating 5 as threshold for system test to spot me as I exploit)
Stealth test to sneak
[6,1,2,6,4,3,2,5,6,1,1,5] = 5 hits
Browse for files (Which tier)
[4,3,5,1,6,5,3,2,4,5,6] = 5 hits
Will begin to probe quietly (Security Rights)
Buy 3 hits, takes 3 hours on Rating 4 Node with security access
If security hackers or patrolling IC is in the system, and looks to see me, I will smash and grab and force the system faster (14 dice vs threshold 4) and be in with user access as a complex action. Then hack the access I need.
Edit to add fake IDs (Using the primary ID from each of the Team member's commlinks.)--I'm making 1 roll per person in case. I don't know if 1 roll will cover all of them or if you need separate rolls.
[5,4,6,2,1,4,4,2,4,4,2,2] = 2 hits [dervish]
[5,6,5,3,3,3,5,2,4,2,4,1] = 4 hits [atreus]
[2,2,4,6,4,5,1,2,5,6,1,2] = 4 hits [sweetness]
[4,3,6,5,2,4,5,1,4,2,1,2] = 3 hits [inkari]
[5,6,3,6,6,5,5,1,3,1,4,1] = 6 hits [claymoore]
(Using first post for order of rolls.)
Back out to Primary Tier
Browse for files (which tier)
[3,2,2,3,6,5,6,3,3,4,1] = 3 hits
Again Probe quietly (Security Rights)
Takes 2 hours for a rating 3 node with Security access.
If either an alert was triggered or something within the system looks to have detected me, I will smash and grab and force the system faster (14 dice vs threshold 3) and be in with user access as a complex action. Then hack the access I need.
Edit to add new user accounts
[4,5,3,6,1,2,4,2,6,2,6,1] = 4 hits
[2,3,1,4,2,1,1,4,5,3,5,5] = 3 hits
[6,2,4,4,4,5,4,3,5,1,5,5] = 5 hits
[5,4,1,5,3,3,2,6,3,2,4,3] = 3 hits
[1,3,1,2,5,1,4,6,5,6,5,1] = 5 hits
[2,2,4,4,3,6,1,3,2,5,3,4] = 2 hits
[4,4,2,1,3,2,5,5,1,1,5,6] = 4 hits
[3,4,5,3,4,6,1,2,4,3,3,1] = 2 hits
[4,6,2,6,2,4,4,2,6,2,2,4] = 3 hits
[4,4,2,5,3,3,1,2,3,6,4,4] = 2 hits
If an alert has been triggered at any previous step, skip this step:
Browse for security logs (Which Tier)
[2,1,3,1,5,5,3,3,5,4,2] = 3 hits
Edit to remove traces
[4,1,3,2,4,4,2,3,3,3,2,1] = 0 hits EDGE
[6,5,1,4,3,6,6,6,4,4,2,4] = 5 hits
Log Off

Note for the actual infiltration, I'm going to setup a connection to my data haven and write a quick script that will allow me to post the names/UserIDs as a free action.
Then slowly probe the outside tier,
Buy 3 hits per test, takes 3 hours for a rating 6 node with Security
(Stealth Program Rating 5 as threshold for system test to spot me as I exploit) --Send the post just before using the exploit that I found.
find out which tier the cameras are on ...
[4,2,4,6,4,3,4,5,5,1,5] = 4 hits
and hack that one on the fly.
[2,1,2,3,2,3,4,1,3,2,5,6,2,6] = 3 hits
(Edge if necessary to get in on the first try--[4,4,5,4,1,6,1,4,6,1,5] = 4 more hits for a total of 7)
Timing should be that I am inside the system as they hit the front door. Tearing through the firewall for the cameras as the team enters the dealer room.
Edit the cameras
[3,2,5,5,2,1,2,6,1,5,1,5] = 5 hits

Team--After speaking to Fenris, I'd recommend laying out the plan to the best of your ability and supporting it with some dice rolls.
Remember, this is what we know about their security profile:
One constant in almost all of the packages you come across is heavy magical protection. While they don't seem to be neglecting other areas, every package includes some sort of FAB, awakened animals or plants, or a mage / mystic adept. One of the packages even includes FAB impregnated panels reported to create a physical barrier to astral passage.
Lethality wise they seem to use focus on effective non-lethal response. They use gel rounds, drugs, sprays, tasers, stick-n-shocks, mage-masks, skilltwitchers, data-jack blockers, and a variety of other responses to subdue intrusions, to submit to whatever the appropriate law for the locale is.
However, since their lethal response doesn't come out until much farther up the escalation scale, other runners have posted to watch out for things like APDS, Ultra-max's, and Panthers. If it gets lethal, they go for overkill.
Emphasis mine, play nicely with TotSec--I don't have time for bodybags.

@Team: Well'p the plan for Dervish is now that hes found his entrance there are a few options.
1. Enter in full stealth running mode carrying some extra clothes. Plant stealth RFID tags on tags on whatever Porter wants. Wait till morning and use the rush to cover meeting with Sweetness. Follow and protect Sweetness, till we are ready to leave. Use previous entrance as exit and carry all the goodies out leaving Sweetnes and the rest of you clean.
2. Create massive diversion, pilfer the expo and leave. (This one's a little sketchier)
BishopMcQ
Sep 3 2007, 04:10 AM
My understanding of the plan, which is what I set up my hacking for, is that we were effectively going to smash and grab what we need right when the doors open and security is focussed on the mobs of people.
If Dervish wants to pre-tag items, Porter should be able to code image links to see AROs for specific frequencies when people approach within the signal range of each tag.
Either Computer/Hacking + Program
[3,1,3,1,5,3,2,6,6,3,3,6] - 4 hits
if extended:
[ Spoiler ]
[4,1,2,1,5,6,6,5,5,4,2,1] = 5 hits (9)
[1,2,1,6,5,3,5,3,1,4,2,5] = 4 hits (13)
[3,4,3,6,4,1,4,5,4,6,2,3] = 3 hits (16)
[4,2,1,1,5,5,1,4,3,2,1,5] = 3 hits (19)
[1,2,6,5,5,3,5,6,3,2,3,2] = 5 hits (24)
[1,1,2,1,4,2,5,2,3,1,4,5] = 2 hits (26)
[5,3,5,2,4,2,3,1,4,6,5,2] = 4 hits (30)
[3,2,5,4,6,2,1,4,1,2,1,4] = 3 hits (32)
[4,3,5,2,5,3,4,6,5,3,5,2] = 5 hits (37)
[1,1,3,4,4,6,2,1,1,6,5,4] = 3 hits (40)

@Bishop: It is just a semi plan ATM. If we want it done to the max I'll need some kind of Astral signature neutralizer. And I could have misunderstood the plan itself. I'm not married to my idea if someone else has a better one.
BishopMcQ
Sep 3 2007, 07:33 AM
Meriss--I don't think you misunderstood the plan, as much as, we as a team never finalized exactly what we were doing. We spent weeks doing legwork, and discussing options, but this week when we were actually supposed to do the job (Aug 27-Sep 2 IRL), no one acted. Instead we offered more options and choices. Now we've almost run out of time, and Fenris is going to bump us through the Expo to the next agenda item.
My understanding is that he will look at our plan, take the rolls we've provided and talk out the rest of it, rolling for us. There will be a long post summarizing what precisely happened, and describing the next scene we are in. Because we didn't move forward, he is going to have to approximate the best he can as to how our characters respond. That's why I posted contingent actions above, provided rolls for what I needed to do for Porter's part of the plan, and requested that everyone else do the same.
The more blanks on the page that we are able to fill in, the more likely our version of events will match his.
Now obviously, I may be wrong. This is my compilation of information from posts made about the format of the game and brief conversations--all of which ran through my own personal filters. I think next time, we need to watch the clock a little better so that we don't hit the weekend where our post count drops dramatically and try to scramble to get all of our plans and actions pulled together.

I'm for a two stage plan, the more specific we target, the better we are for the actual snatch (Whether or not it's smash and grab or subtle).
Sweetness is good for the legwork and gaining access, and very able to add to the confusion if a diversion is needed. However, for an effective diversion, it's going to need to be very clear Sweetness has no easy tie to whomever does the snatch. He kind of sticks out.

@Meriss - Atreus can provide physical protection and cover while you tag... but given what Bishop said earlier about the magic protection... Perhaps we should switch roles, what with your astral beacon thing and all.

If it's the only power the spirit uses, and it's done as a remote service, then I believe the spirit doesn't have to be right next to Dervish to use the Power on him. Be different if the instruction was tag along and do whatever this guy tells you to do.
Though I am in agreement that one way to counter heavy magical security is to keep things as mundane as possible.

I was under the impression that a
remote service meant that the spirit left the area of the summoning magician and that the spirit had to be LOS (in some cases touch) to use their powers and that concealment was an ability that functioned as long as the spirit worked at it, not like a spell that it simply sustained.. I would definitely be happy for a clarification on that.

Street Magic. P. 95
"Since Guard is a physical power, it requires the spirit
to be physical in order to activate it (though not to sustain it).
Therefore, a spirit ordered to use Guard on someone would
need to use Materialize or Possession before it could do so,
and both actions would only require one service (though it
might immediately go back to astral plane while sustaining
the Guard effect, depending on what other services it was performing
at the time)."
Substitute Concealment for Guard.
SR4 p. 286
"Sustained powers may be maintained over time at no effort
or cost. Because these powers are innate, the critter is not
subject to any strain or modifi ers for keeping the eff ect going.
Even taking damage will not disrupt these powers’ ability
to sustain. Also, line of sight does not have to be maintained
aft er the power takes hold of its target. Critters may sustain a
number of powers equal to their Magic at one time."

I like the idea of the ARO tags and us doing the job in the morning rush and then splitting up (in the teams seems great to me) and meeting up later with the goodies. Now that I have a stable of spirits I am more than willing to use them to slow down the magical side of their security response. It still takes actions to banish or pop spirits. I give this plan two big thumbs up!
