IWTF started as a table top game and has since jumped to the forum , so the first 4 or so pages are discussion about the first game ,then the on line bits next.
First we'll start with some of the house rules in effect. Never really formally posted them, so this may be added upon later.
Smartgun link applies to two weapon firing - It makes no sense that the targeting sights that appear in your line of sight suddenly have no effect what so ever because you are using two guns. That rule is gone.
Common Sense Points - A lot of times, people come up with great ideas of hilarious comments in games. Those deserve reqrds, but karma is a bit much. So I reward Common Sense Points (CSP). Essentially, they work the same as karma, but can only be applied to knowledge skills. Knowledge skills are great, but rarely raised, because everyone puts their karma on active skills. This fixes that.
Bad Karma - Doing something very screwed up, like being an major ass, or doing something just plain evil in game, such as raping a goat or stealing candy from babies. That can get you bad karma, which is essentially edge for the opposition.
Edge for NPCs - Everyone has edge. Keep this in mind. It may not be a lot, but it's there.
Soft caps on skills and attributes, no modified max from cyber or magic
Cyber is built in, so it makes no sense that it should stop at 9 for attributes. Same goes for magic. Skills and attributes can go over 7 (after buying Exceptional Attribute or Apptitude), but increase the multiplier by 1 (skills x2 becomes x3 ,etc).
Improved Physical Attribute Adept Power changed
It makes no sense that you can buy cyber and raise atttributes normally, but when you use magic, it costs more to raise the attribute. So it doesn't. It also makes no sense to make it cost 2 magic points once it goes over the normal attribute. So it doesn't. This all seems to be an attempt to nerf physads attributes, when they were already expensive enough to begin with. With powers like Critical Strike, it makes no sense to make normal attributes so much more expensive.
The "Oh Shit!" Card Occassionally you'll have a character that has been around for a long long time , and has used up his/her Hand Of God. I also ignore the rule about being able to use HoG once by brning off a point of Edge. Having 8 HoG's is just ridiculous. But as a happy medium, I use the "Oh Shit!" card.
You can buy one for 50 karma. I also sometimes give one out for birthdays. You can basically save your self from one "Oh Shit!" moment by burning the card, such as , say dying. Doesn't come up a lot, but it just might save your llife.
Qualities
---+2 qualities The BBB has qualities that apply a +2 to a number of specializations, such as hacking/exploit. Specilization qualities as we'll call them are available for any non-combat skill, including spellcasting/counterspelling for the same BP/Karma cost.
---Neg Qualities There is not a limit to the Negatvie qualities you can take ,as long as the ones you use aren't ridiculous such as Incompetent:Archery. If you want your character to have a number of crutches, that's just fine. Neg qualities also do not count towards notoriety. The fact that you suck with computers, or are addicted to cigarettes, are not going to make a bit of difference in most social situations.
Cast of Shadows
[ Spoiler ]
Shadowland-New Orleans
This Shadowland node was estabnlished not long after the crash. It's security is what people have come to expect from Shadowland, starting with being impossible to find without a good list of references. It's SysOp is an old hand named Sandman who set up shop in New Orleans with a couple of other experienced hackers -LAN, Elsie Dee, and Zephyr. They handle a lot of data exchange, ,especially smuggling niformation and patrol routes. Their system architecture is set up to look like a 24/7 Mardi Gras. Data nodes appear as bars most of the time, but good luck spotting the IC in the crwod. Better to mind your manners.
Temptation
Tempatation is a classy bordello located just off of Bourbon street. The buidling it's self is three stories, done in clean, black reflective glass. The AR overlay is done very subtly, so that erotic and exotic images slowly slide across the glass, just perceptible enough to be enjoyed. It caters to both genders, and all metatypes. Although the clientele is predominatly male, Cynthia pays special attention to the needs of her female guests. There are areas of the club that are "Ladies Only".
The first floor boasts a small but excellent restaturant, a lounge/parlor, and a stage room. Private booths and rooms are available here for a price, some iwth a view of the stage. The second floor is reserved for offices, and massage parlors, and other "pamper rooms" for the guests. The third floor is where the working girls ply their trade. Tempation is run in person by Cynthia Vicenete, a caporegime within the Kozlowski family. It is her brain child, and her pride and joy. It is also an excellent money maker, and a secure place to get business done.
Liquid Blues
The Liquid Blues Night Club is about as trendy as clubs gets. The club's decorations are done in heavy chrome, steel blues, and black, with plenty of neon blue to go with it. The AR display's here are intense, and some rumors suggest that the writer employed a bit of simsense emotive tracks and maybe ever psychotropic waves to enhance the club goers "good times".
Cyber, body art, nano tattoos, full body dyes, are all the norm here rather than the rule. The club is corp owned though so forget about packing any hardware in to this place. They won't want you scaring the corp kids away.
Ace in the Hole
A quiet little pool hall in a less reputable quarter of New Orleans, the Aceis a dive, bar included. It's got a dozen pool tables, all suprisingly level, that get frequent use from the locals, and little to no tourists. It's a well reputed place for cutting street deals, as the trideo usually plays loud enough to cover regular conversation. Most of the deals that are done here are drug deals, or small time larceny. The NOPS don't bother wit ha place like this, because it pays its collections moeny to the Kozlowski family in time every month.
Due to a recent drive by that riddled the front of the place with bullets, followed by a spell battle that blew out a wall, this venue is currently closed.
The Pink Elephant
A sleezy little dive in an out of the way place in town, The Pink Elephant is more than it seems. The owner is a "swing" fan, and so old 1940's-50's music plays here constatly. The bar has a rep as rough and tumble. There's two pool tables, concrete flooring, and a bar that once had someone's head put through it. The bartender, Sleezy P. Maritini, is indeed a sleezy, greasy, balding little man. But he's also an excellent source of underworld information. The bouncer, a troll named Ed, is suprisingly intelligent and courteous. He is also very in to proper Japanese etiquette.
Beneath the Elephant is "The Pink". It's one of New Orleans' only opium dens, and also does quite a lot of business in te flesh trade. Rumors say that they even have a clinic for making "Nadja Daviars", the slang term applied to anyone that has had work done to look like a famous personage, in order to command a higher price.
The Naughty Kitten
This strip joint is a combination gentleman's club and seedy strip joint, divided into more or less equal parts. In the gentleman's section, there is also a small restaurant that serves authentic italian dishes as well as local flavors. The food is superb, if a bit expensive. "Regulars" however, usually get a discont, assuming they have the right "association".
There is a bar in both halves of the joint, the barteneders skilledi in the right kinds of etiquette for where they work. The joint is a front for mafia operations of course, and a regular hang out of several wise guys. Joe Mencion, one of Julain Mancuso's men, does most of his work out of here. He handles the collections for the businesses in the nighborhood, some of the illegal gambling, and any outstanding loans for Mancuso.
A lot of 'escort' work comes out of the Kitten as well, with the "Adopt a Kitten" program they have going. The girls here are smart and good looking, and so command a high price that the treet scum can't usually afford. They also usually know quite a lot of gossip about the city, it's criminals, and its seedier business men. The bouncer, a troll named Roman hand picked by Mancuso, is very protective of the girls.
The Arena
The Arena is an uunder ground fighting ring in one of the worst parts of New Orleans. It's security is tight, and it's door fee expensive. Anyone that wants to can fight, but remember that fights here are bloody and usually to the death. Plenty of other vices are on hand for the clients and spectators willing to pay the extra price.
Franklin Heights Apartments
A swanky apartment building with a name any yuppie cold love, it's desgined jsut so to keep the locals away. This ten story apartment buidling fits the high life style demanded by many made man, and a few worth while associates. It also has it's own security force, which helps keep things more secure for the residents. In such a place, it's guarantted that any distrubances are left as "don't ask, don't tell", even when there are screams involved. Security will stop by to see if everything is "ok", but other than that, it's sound proof windows and walls don't let much disturb the neighbors. Ahhh .. the sins of silence.
Kozlowski Family
Capa Miriam Kozlowski – Dona of the family age 53
Miriam is the daughter of the first North American dona, Paula Kozlowski. She inherited her position and has since held on to it with a tenacity that keeps others from vying for her position. Her reputation as being absolutely ruthless, without mercy does for the rest of her competition.
A few years ago Miriam became, some would say, obsessed with the Voodoo religion. She enlisted a local mambo as her Consiglieri, took to occasionally wearing the garb of the Ghede followers, and quietly performs the voodoo rites. Miriam is not magically active, so it is apparently a religious conversion. She has gone so far as to recruit the family’s former rivals the Voodoo Posse. The move was at first met with anger, but it helped tremendously to win the war against the Zobop.
Now days, Miriam’s legendary rages have turned more in to a cool and collected, almost sociopathic calm. Very little ruffles her feathers. She has been known to calmly, even icily, execute soldiers that have failed her, or order the execution of entire groups that have crossed her. She does not hesitate to deal out death, and does so almost off handedly. She has retained her striking good looks, and looks more of a woman in her early 40’s than a woman pushing her mid-fifties. She can and does still seduce men that strike her interest, but rarely keeps a lover for long.
Sottocapo Jack “Oz” Ozlowski - human age 52
“Oz” as he’s called on the street is one of the old guard Kozlowski’s . He’s spent the last 7 years behind bars, after being arrested and tried for 3 counts of murder one. It all came down after a few made men of the Mussino family decided to take it in to their heads to hit one of the operations that Oz was in charge of , a small dockside casino called Wonderland. Oz caught up to three of the men, and had them executed mafia style. The last one , an ork named Jocko Vanceli, turned state’s evidence, and testified against Oz in exchange for immunity and protection. Jocko has been in hiding ever since.
Oz has been out now for 6 months and is working on regaining his former place. He is finding the family very different than when he left it, and is working on bringing back some of the “traditional values” that seem to be lacking now. In his eyes, power and money are becoming more important than tradition and respect. Oz served under Stan and Paula Kozlowski as a soldier back in the ‘40’s, and so remains very loyal to the Kozlowski name. But with Miriam’s departure from the traditions the family was built on, he’s begun putting more of his efforts into supporting Pamela Rodenbush to secede Miriam.
Sottocapo Harry Rybinski
Harry the Hammer rose to the Sottocapo position during the “Krewe Wars” in ’62-’64. With Oz gone, a new war leader was needed. That leader was Harry the Hammer, a large polish ork from “the old war”. He is a war veteran, having learned his skills fighting the Russians. He applied those skills using the various krewes against the krewe groups the Zobop brought to bear. With his strategy, the Kozloski family emerged relatively unscathed from the proxy war.
Harry is surprisingly un-phased by Oz’s return. New Orleans has plenty of action to share, and it lets him focus more on the families enemies in stead of day-to-day business. Harry is extremely loyal to Miriam, most likely since they both have similar temperaments and out looks on how to treat rivals. Rumors still circulate that the two have been some-time lovers over the years.
Sottocapo Erak Weisler
Approaching his ‘80’s, Weisler has all the fire of a many at half his years. Weisler was the family Consigliere until the last few years. The change in family structure seems to have awoken the fire in the man that got him in his previous position years ago. He was ousted by Miriam and replaced by her voodoo mambo. The change in hierarchy hasn’t set well with Weisler, and he’s made little secret about it. He has not gone so far though as to directly say that Miriam made the wrong choice.
Weisler was Paula’s Consigliere before Miriam, and helped her mother consolidate her control over the family. His words still carry weight, especially with the other families and older Mafioso in the area. He has ties to the Atlanta Gianellis as well, and has used them in the past to consolidate a working relationship between the neighboring families. Currently his main task assigned by Miriam is to keep the balance and peace between the other families, the Mossinos and the Romeros.
Capo régime Julian Mancuso
Mancuso is one of the Captains that rose from the short mob war seven years ago. He was a made man that came from a mob family. Well bred and educated, it was of course expected of him to go in to the family business. His father was killed by the Zobop during the war. He still holds a grudge, and intensely dislikes anything that stinks of voodoo. Miriam’s “change in taste” as he puts it, sits very ill with him. However he knows better than to question the Dona. He is suspicious of her new Consiglieri however, and questions nearly every order that he believes comes from her.
Mancuso is a smart and charismatic man. He was raised in the family business and has a good head for it. He spends a lot of time in the bars and back alley clubs of the city, making sure he still has a feel for the streets. He does a lot of the families recruiting, and hiring for any shadow work that needs to get done. He’s well liked by most of the saldatos, and has a good reputation even with other syndicates.
Capo régime Vince Spinnelli
Vince is a ship jumper from the failing Gianelli family in Atlanta. The family has hit hard times in the past years and is failing fast. Rather than go down with the ship, Vince was the fleeing rat. Fortunately for Vince, he fled with a good part of his crew, and brought them all over the Kozlowski family, where he was awarded a captain’s position.
Vince’s work is dealing with the street muscle. Small street gangs and krewes are the people he normally interacts with. If you’ve torqued off the mob, Vince is most likely the person that’s going to be given your name to have you taken care of. Vince isn’t particularly intimidating or a veteran or heavily augmented. Rather, Vince is good at finding the right person for the job that needs to be done. He’s also an excellent student of human nature, skilled at reading people and predicting how they’ll react.
Capo régime Charles “Chuck” Weneislauss
Big Chuck has been a Captain in the Kozlowski family for the past 15 years. Chuck is a polish troll, and the only troll to be a captain in the North American mob. He’s very intelligent (some say thanks to bioware augmentation) and surprisingly charismatic for troll. He’s also known for taking frequent trips to D.C. and visiting his “ol’ Pal Boom” at the Avalon night club regularly, and working family business with the D.C. families.
Chuck is usually well dressed, and eats a lot, usually Italian or Cajun food. He drinks and smokes and generally conforms to most “wise guy” stereo types. He’s got a solid head on his shoulders. Most say it’s his lack of innovation that keeps him from climbing higher in the family. Those that know him better say that he’s comfortable where he is. He likes it better on the street level, with fewer responsibilities than he might otherwise have. He prefers to stay where the action is. Most of his work revolves around collecting for protection rackets and enforcement on the lesser forms of filth. He especially delights on collecting on those that can’t pay their gambling debts, as he sees their situation as “their own damn fault”.
Capo régime Blake Lawson
His name sounds like something out of a soap opera, and his looks match it. Blake is tall, dark, handsome, and charismatic. He holds him self confidently, and is comfortable in any social setting. The Dona uses him for most of the work through their casino concerns. He does most of his work out of the Belle Fortune, one of New Orleans’ biggest casinos, completely controlled by the Kozlowski family.
Blake acts as the go-between for all the casino managers, and handles the organization of the underground casinos throughout the sprawl, and is the friendly face of the mob. He acts more like a business man, as someone in the entertainment industry, than as a mobster. Usually anything truly illicit, such as dealing with cheaters or shadow ops against other casinos, is handled by his right hand, Edgar Terrace. Many call Terrace Lawson’s evil twin, because of their similar appearance, and like minds in most of their dealings.
Capo régime Cynthia Vicente
Cynthia is a new Captain, raised to the position only a year ago. She has been placed in charge of the families vice investments, specifically pornography and prostitution. The former captain, Dan Vicente was “removed” from his position after Miriam found some of the details of how he was using some of the “assets” at his disposal. Cynthia was Dan’s wife, and happy to see her philandering husband go. There are those that wonder if it was Cynthia that pointed out Dan’s perverted indiscretions to Miriam to gain his position. Either way, the Dona saw fit to give Cynthia his spot, to apply “a woman’s touch” the industry.
So far Cynthia has performed well. She’s been recruiting more talent than most expected, and cutting in on the yakuza’s bunraku business by countering with high class escorts. Cynthia her self is in her late twenties, a good 12 years younger than her late husband. Whether or not she’s on the look out for a new beau is anyone’s guess, because right now, she’s all business. Plenty of the men of the family are seeing her as an opportunity for advancement. The fact that Dan originally married her because she was both intelligent and gorgeous certainly has something to do with it as well. So far though, the dark haired widow has ignored any advances.
Marco " the Mook" De marino
Marco stands out a bit in the New Orleans mob, especially the Kozlowski family, because he's got the look and stlye of an up town R&B star. He doesn't seem the type to spend time working the streets with wise guys. But as he says, "you gotta do what ya love". Marco loves working the streets. He's the type of guy that knows people, and knows who to talk to to get things done. Being african American ("I'm black damn it. Does this suit look african to you?") helps him in a number of social circles where other made men might fear to tred as well.
He has a sense of style that makes him acceptable in many higher social circle,s and the skills to make him self welcome. He answers directly to caporegime Vincente, and is one of her favorites. He's one of thos gusy that everyone seems to owe a favor to.
Marco is called "the Mook" because he's about as far and away as being an italian mafioso as one can get, but still has unquestioned loyalty.
Barnabus Dabrowski
Barnabus should be a dwarf. He's thick, he's hairy, he's bald, and he speaks with a horrible polish accent. Only problem is he's six feet tall. Medical exam have shown that he is infact a dwarf, with a case of "giantism". So, naturally, everyone calls him Barnie the Troll. Or Barnie the Big Purple Troll if you really want to torque him off. He's in his 30's, bald with a thick brown beard, and has a serious attitude. He does a lot of the work that requires a less gentle touch. He and his sister Anna were raised in a polish family in New Orleans, and raised in the mob.
Anna Dabrowki The opposite of her twin brother Barnie, Anna is an attractive, thoughtful woman. She is a dwarf, prefers nice clothing, and better food. She's a bit thick set because of it, but she brags that her "womanly figure" has stopped more than one 9mm. She also has a bit of a temper, but she's more likely to resolve it with her shot gun than her fist as her brother does.
Vincent "Vin" Capelli
Vin is a New Yorker, born and raised. The fact that he's spent the last 15 years in New Orleans makes no never mind. He was originally from the Luchesse family, and moved south for reasons unknown. Vin is a well respected made man, who isn't very interested in rising in the ranks. He's smart , and very experienced. He handles a lot of things that would usually be handled by a Caporegime, but doesn't want the responsibility. His talents lay in organization, and a good working knowledge of the law. Rumors say he was once a mob lawyer.
Eddy Tango
Eddy, "tango", "T", Eddy Tango is one of those guys that loves the mob's mystique and grandeur. He's latin, good looking ,and young, and very big on style. He spends a lot of money on clothes, girls, and vice. He's also ex-CAS military, and very skilled in combat. Some people think him a bit of a blow hard, which may be true. But he's good enough at his job to be a made man. Currently Hary has Vin spend a lot of time with Eddy to "keep an eye on him."
Rumors are now circulating Vin perhaps didn't keep a good enough eye on him , because Eddy hasn't been seen in a few weeks.
Andy Torturo
Aka Andy T, Andy is a classic mob hitman. He's been doing it for years, and is pretty good at his job. Not the type to use a rifle, Andy gets right in his marks face and does his business, then cleans everything up, nice and shiny. He's the type of guy that makes people dissapear, whether it's cement shoes, Tanamous, or the gator farms. Andy does the run of the mill stuff though, not the high profile. He's unaugmented, so he's not the type to be sent after a razor boy. What he lacks in the 'bleeding edge' he makes up for in experience.
Robert Milocheck
Rob is a go to guy for information. His home is in New Orleans, but he does a lot of traveling for his day job as an parts salesman for GulfSttar Intl. His name sounds foreign, but he's never been out of North America. Most of his work takes him through the CAS and UCAS, so he quite a number of contacts all over. He's a man that's known for his friends.
Snake Skin
SnakeSkin is a small tiem drug dealer that has a lot of connections. He is a suprisingly pale human man, with a very large number of piercings, brandings, and tattoos all over his body, giving him his rough skin that earned him his name. He deals in everything from BTL chips to marijuana. If you can count on him for anything, it's to know where to get it. His ties are als oto the Kozlowski family, and he does most of his dealing ot of the bar/pool hall Ace in the Hole. He can be found there 16 -20 hours out of the day most times. After all ,if people don't know where to shop, they'll go somewhere else.
Pounder
A weapons dealer from the North west, Pounder is a lady that knows her stuff. She's in her mid to late tweenties, human, and 100% all she can be. A former merc, Pounder realized that she can make a lot more cred selling the guns than using them . She's been doing it ever since. She also delivers, does special orders, and likes tips.
Midnight
Midnight remains still an enigma to the world at large. She has changed very little over the years, still appearing as a woman in her late twenties, black in skin, with mesmerizing deep blue eyes. She has grown her hair out in to waist length dread locks, and remains thin enough to almost be gaunt. Her motivations still remain a mystery, as most interactions with the Posse go through one of her lieutenants.
Under her leadership the Posse has grown in strength. Although her methods would normally align her with the Zobop, she seems to regard them, more as rivals, which may explain her alliance with the Kozlowski family.
Gateway
Gateway is a true conjure man, what a hermetic mage would call an aspected conjurer. He is a very powerful summoner of spirits, but is completely incapable of casting any sort of spells. It is known, however, that gateway has somehow learned the metamagic of Great Ritual, allowing him to add his power to the ritual sendings of the Posse.
Gateway follows Legba, and so is consulted on all of the Posse’s doings. He is a powerful diviner, and is rarely seen in public, spending most of his time secreted away in the group’s headquarters. Sources say that he spends most of his time enchanting telesma and performing summonings.
Julius Brown aka Jules
Jules is a massive troll with skin as black as night. He has tattoos of lightning bolts running up the length of his heavily muscled arms, and usually wears only a leather vest and jeans over black steel toed boots. Black on black on black. He is a followr of Papa Shango and a powerful combat mage. He is also a member of the infamous Voodoo posse, the magical assassination voodoo group for hire. Jules is suprisingly soft spoken, but is a terror if his anger is roused. It usally takes a while, but is like a building storm, raging fiercely once brought to it. He also has very strong loyalties to those close to him. His rep has recently gone up, after mopping the floor with another particularily nasty voodoun.
Lucky "Lady Luck" Santangelo
Lucky is an italian-descended elf, recently moved from Seattle to the Big Easy. She's been working with the Kozlowski family since she's arrived, and is a made woman. She works mainly in small time gambling and numbers running, but is also making a rep for her self doing collections and other odd jobs. She's a good looking elf, but has a nasty streak and isn't afraid to show it to those that really piss her off. She's also known to have a connection to a female weapon's dealer named Pounder that also came with her from Seattle, so she has access to top notch weapons.
She acquired the nick name "Lady Luck" after making it through a number of suprisingly nasty scraps, a winning streak at the casinos, and starting up her own small time bar/river casino called the "Lucky Strike"
Sinn
Another mover from Seattle, this elf has a mean streak a mile wide. He's sarcastic and rude, and has a problem with orks and any sort of authoriy figure. He's also rumored to have killed a dragon, wanted by LoneStar, and reportedly been killed somewhere between 2-5 times. He's a voodoun, and rumors say a follower of the Red Eye paths. He was also formerly married and had twins, but his wife and one of his children died on a hit apaprently meant for him about six months ago.
Sinn has a rep as being "hard to kill", as he's been gunned down a number of times, and keeps coming back. He's got a nickname from it: "Bad Penny".
Hard Rock aka Rock
Rock is a "former" kick artist from western North America, who until recently was doing hard time with his twin brother PickAxe, until he got his lucky dsay. He apparently saved the life of Jack "Oz" Ozlowski in prisoin, who in exchange, managed to get him an early parole, then made his records dissapear.
Since then Oz and Rock have been nearly inseperable. Rock is Oz's new right hand man, now that the sottocapo has retunred to power. Anything Oz needs done, Rock takes care of. He's a massive, heavily cybered ork, that normally carries at least three heavy pistols , and most certainly knows how to use them. He isn't the brightest, but he is incredibly loyal to Oz, and to a somewhat lesser extent, his firends Sinn and Lucky.
Malice
Malice is a human female fighter in the underground Arena. She's rumored to be a physical adept, although no one has sucessfully assesnsed her. She's a mean slitch wit ha wicked sense of humor, and enjoys inflicting bodily harm. She's 5;1" with hair that alternates between black and blond, well toned, and aggresive. SHe usually wears leathers, along with a nunmber of belts and buckles, and has various parts of her skin exposed.
Blue Moon Krewe
The Blue Moons deal exclusively in gambling throughout the Crescent City. Their operations are all of the underground variety, usually literally located in some basement of some legitimate business. There dens are small and discrete, and easily portable in case of a raid. Their bag men collect every day , making sure that anyone one den can be easily lost without to much worry about damaging the krewe’s operations.
The krewe numbers in the twenties, mostly Rastafarians of any meta type. The leader is a dwarf by the name of Jack Cotter. Story goes that Jack and Co tried to make their way in Las Vegas some years back but were pushed out by the Commanche mobs. They decided to come back home and try their luck in their own back yard. Jack hates Native Americans with a passion, but has little trouble with anyone else, giving his krewe a good amount of diversity. He’s smart, and practical, and doesn’t usually let personal issues get in the way of “good business sense”. At his core though, Cotter is a hard nosed criminal through and through. He did a ten year stint through the state Penal system some time back and came back harder than ever. He tried to pull off the calm business man routine, but has a reputation as one vengeful cuss.
Cotter’s right hand is a human woman named Amelia. She doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the Krewe, being Caucasian and much calmer for one. But Cotter listens to her when she gives advice. When he and his krewe returned from the Vegas sands, Amelia was with him, and they’ve stuck together thick as thieves ever since. She’s short with dark hair, pretty but not overly so. Most think that Amelia is the brains behind the operation, where Cotter is the will that drives the krewe.
Black Throat Krewe
The Black Throat is a real hard edged Krewe numbering no more than 30 that started operating along the river a couple of years ago. Their claim to fame is smuggling up and down the Mississippi, the route that smugglers refer to as “the throat”. For the last few years they’ve been muscling up to various smugglers and stealing business away from various existing crime organizations. They’ve managed to last this long because they’ve got some serious backers. The krewe came in to being seemingly cut of whole cloth, and sporting SMGs and assault shotguns. They were a pain in the hoop, but they weren’t the body that it would take to get rid of them. Expect some action brought against them some time soon though. Word is that they sent a “delegation” to Capa Kozlowski to make their claim official. She had the delegates cut up in to little pieces and fed to her dogs. All except one, which she had watch the entire affair, castrated personally, then sent back to the krewe.
The krewe’s leader is a human named Blaine, somewhere in his early thirties. He’s smart, cool, and confident. He’s not only the brains behind the krewe, but also the money source. He brought the organization together, and has kept it on a solid track since then. He could hire more hands, but seems to prefer a more stream lined organization. He dressed well, although not being sp pretentious as to try wearing a suit around new Orleans, and is said to be able to handle himself well in a fight.
Blain’s first lieutenant is a female human named Eve, a local. She’s also said to be an dept, following a version of the warrior’s way. Apparently, the lady has a knack for automatic weapons. She’s fast as an adder and a damned good shot. She’s personally responsible for a lot of the respect the krewe has. His second is a hacker, a younger elf boy, early twenties tops, that rumors are saying is a technomancer. His handle is SINtax, which is apparently some sort of hacker joke. The kid isn’t much in the meat, but the net jockies say he’s top notch in the system. Where Blain picked him up, no one knows.
The Lucky Strike
The Lucky Strike was opened by Lucky Santangelo in January of 2070. Nearing it's one year mark, the Lucky Strike is showing surprising staying power considering it's a casino/bar/sports den in a city of a thousand casino/bar/sports dens.
Little is known about the owner, Lucky Santangelo. Rumors say that she's a "made man" within the ranks of the Kozlowski Family, others say she's no more then a gambler with a lucky streak. What is known is that Lucky won the deed to the Strike from Vincent Hotchkiss, a New Orleans real estate and porn mogul, in a hand of poker. After that, she had the place gutted and restored.
The Lucky Strike is made up of two floors, the ground floor and the basement. The ground floor consists of the bar, grill, sports den and casino near the back. The basement holds most of the staff offices and a few private gaming rooms. Rumor says that there's another level to the Strike but so far no one has ever been able to substantiate the claim.
On The Inside
The interior of the Strike is done in the style of an old Irish pub; dark woods, frosted mirrors, wood paneled floors and comfortable barstools. The sports den is done in the same vein but, with all the modern amneties and fully AR compatible.
Past the sports den, you come to the casino proper. The casino holds 500 people at full capacity and has enough gaming to satisfy even the most jaded gambler. There is even a pool hall, where you can pit your skills against the hustlers that make the hall home.
Downstairs offers much the same in the way of decoration, but also offers more privacy for those so inclined. Private game and meeting rooms are offered for those who can afford to play in peace.
The staff of the Lucky Strike is made up of gorgeous and friendly young men and woman, most from the local colleges and universities, rumor says that some of the pretties on staff can be purchased but once again, rumors can be just that, rumors.
