Here is everything I could find concerning the bugs Ludmilla had planned on building. I remember Zeyda saying it would take 3 to 4 days to get everything... which was about 3 days ago game time. So he should either have them, or be expecting them in one day.
Anyhow, if you have any questions, just say so.
And if everything is alright with you, just say the word and I'll push IC forward.

Each bug is made up of 4 components (the 5th one being optional depending on the situation). The micro microphone is put in the appropriate covert position for recording. If there is enough room to hide the rest of the bug, it can simply be encased together. If there isn’t enough room, the micro microphone is linked to the rest of the device via a single thread microelectronic linking cable. The memory unit is basically a very small hard-drive with just enough space for about 24 hours of audio recording. The control unit is the brain unit, linking all the devices together. The radio link plays two roles; it acts as both a transmitter and receiver. Its first role is to send all the audio recording data to the signal repeater, who sends it to the receiver unit outside the restaurant. But it also acts as a point of control for the device. If for some reason (like activating live feed, or shutting down the microphones) the bugs “behavior has to be modified, one can simply connect to the device via the correct radio frequency.
The signal repeater receives all the data from the bugs and then sends it to the receiver unit, who in turn sends it to a server thru the matrix lines.
The main idea behind the device is that the bugs are only detectable when they transmit data. Since they record everything on site and then send it thru the radio link in a short and rapid radio burst, they are only detectable during a very narrow timeframe. Also, since their flux rating is so low, detecting them even during the data burst should be difficult enough. The signal repeater simply acts as a bridge between the bugs and receiver, counteracting the downside of low signal devices.
Since the device are set to record only when there is sound, the whole recording space of the memory unit should never be exceeded in between data burst, which are set to every 24hours. As for the frequency being used, all control unit are set with the same exact switching pattern; meaning they will all change the sending frequency. Since there are so many frequencies, the chance of someone being able to actually intercept the data in transit is almost impossible.

Scrap - It should have been Reaction (7) + Unarmed (Cyber) (4) - Visibility(2) = 9 dice, you rolled 8. For time's sake, I rolled the extra dice for you and got a 03, no hit.
Attacker Hits (6) vs. Defender Hits (5) = 1 net hit for attacker, success for attacker.

Defender Soak Hits = -5P

What easily scroungeable armour is the ex-swordsman wearing? I'm looking first and foremost for a coat or jacket. Also retrieving the katana and anything else I can find in a quick cursory search (ie. pockets, carry-pouch, grapple gun, portable medkit!) -- should take only a few seconds.
Other bodies in the area? If at all possible I need to armour three people: Alleycat, Nora, and Lady Dove. Weapons only for Alleycat though, and anything she can quickly scrounge out of pockets. That will take a bit longer, but maybe not too much longer if just limiting it to a stripped coat or jacket.
(Writing up a post to reflect this -- will edit out specifics such as the coat if necessary. ... Actually [edit] checking against other Warehouse posting for consistency is taking longer than I expected -- the answers may come before I finish the post! which would be a Good Thing.)
I'm also working very closely with Lady Dove's reactions (damage control?); but I won't write up anything on that until I hear from you, WinterRat.

I just had an evil thought. WinterRat -- how much of that helicopter is visible through the ex-skylight? Is it still unloading?
[ Spoiler ]
When I originally wrote in the Pilot Aircraft skill, way back in the very first character draughts, I had envisioned Alleycat occasionally having escaped from a place in a stolen helicopter: "up" escape often being easier than "down" escape. This situation could maybe work similarly -- and if it does, we would have earned our first aircraft re California run.
Small potential complication unrelated to helicopter: Knight's precise command to the spirit was "Destroy all those who invaded this place" (p.84). Alleycat could be numbered as among those -- and you didn't define a limitation, either temporal or geographical.

The search of the swordsman yields the following items:
1. Armor Jacket
2. Katana
3. Packet of 10 Shuriken
4. 2 Flash-Bang grenades
5. 1 Trauma Patch

No other bodies in the immediate area. The second floor was fairly empty of people. The only invader who made it to this point thus far was the swordsman.
EDIT: Consequently, you will need to edit at least this part of your post, as there was nothing to be scavenged for Lady Dove or Nora.

She's maintaining her composure fairly well thus far, apparently she's been through a lot recently, at least from what you could pick up from your time around her in the warehouse.
Still, as I mentioned in an email, she is not a trained combatant. She will attempt to protect/aid those in her immediate vicinity who are in trouble, or do something fairly obvious if the opportunity presents itself, but otherwise will not act except to attempt to survive unless otherwise instructed.
You don't know anything about her spell selection or magical capabilities except that she is a multi-grade Initiate.

[ Spoiler ]
The Helicopter is about 90% visible through the ex-skylight, as it's hovering directly over the center of where it used to be. It is not unloading, although the ropes are still dangling straight down after the troops disconnected themselves. Note that there is still a squad on the west side of the second floor moving towards the east side via the catwalks, approximately 4-8 strong (can't get an accurate count without an Observe in Detail action) spread out among the three catwalks.
As for Knight's precise command...well, it'll be interesting to see how the elemental interprets that command, now won't it?

Edit: I think more e-mail responses will have to wait until tomorrow, as my eyes are closing. Seems I don't bounce back from full-day physical labour like I used to.
Update diagram of warehouse desperately needed! Also, how solid are these catwalks? The squad on the catwalks, how much can Alleycat make out of them? I need as much detail as you think is reasonable.
Obviously she does take everything, even things not mentioned in the post.
Editing the post now, to reflect the information you have just given me. Alleycat now has armour! and an actual weapon!
[ Spoiler ]
Which rolls do you want, for Alleycat's previous words to have strongly guided Lady Dove into doing something magical and concealing? which almost certainly, for a mage, would be interpreted as summoning a potent spirit of Man with the Concealment power? At the very least I give you Leadership + CH:
3, 6, 5, 5, 1, 4, 1, 4, 3, 6, 6, for 5 hits (and maybe possible additional bonuses for guiding into something beneficial to all involved?)
but you know the resources I could throw into convincing her to do this, even without the spell.
Re detailed observation: with multitasking this becomes a free action.
WinterRat1
Jun 20 2007, 08:24 AM
Update of the warehouse diagram to follow tomorrow.
Let me note this would be an ideal situation for a wiki, where I could simply put it up for everyone to see.
Catwalks are solid and stable, material some kind of metal typically found in warehouses and construction. Organized in a classic diamond grid fashion. Destroying the catwalks without explosives of some type (or at least grenades or similarly heavy weapons) would be difficult.
What details are you looking for on the squad? She can see their distribution, which will be addressed on the map, weapons appear to be automatics or longarms of some type. Anything beyond that you're looking for?
Your rolls will be taken into account. I'm giving Scrapheap a day or two to reply to these new and unexpected developments, then I'll forge ahead with Lady Dove's reply/actions to at least keep things moving. Fair enough?
Sedna
Jun 20 2007, 05:24 PM
Gah -- it's been an interrupted kind of day -- and night. Still trying to get two hours of uninterrupted sleep.
WinterRat -- in the interests of accurately representing Alleycat's ability to plan and optimise tactics, would you allow everyone involved with the Warehouse scenario to brainstorm in this thread? so long as our characters act only according to communication limits?
We could even do it in isolated steps, so that for each step we brainstorm only the goal for that step. This might balance out the individual PC isolation by isolating PCs from the whole plan until it starts unfolding.
WinterRat1
Jun 20 2007, 06:03 PM
I don't care how much you 'table talk' as long as everyone only acts according to IC knowledge and within the limits of your characters' ability to communicate with one another.
Yeah it's a little unrealistic, but given the already slow pace of forum gaming I'm willing to trade a little bit of realism for speed and more important, fun. Besides, you could always PM each other and I wouldn't know; it's more helpful all around for you to discuss in the OOC thread as central location, then I can chime in to answer your questions as they arise.
Table talking is a fun part of the game, and I see no reason to restrict it. Witness our earlier discussion of cybered easter bunnies several years ago.

Quick Check: Neither astral perception nor astral projection allows you to see through non-magical walls (a la X-ray vision), correct?
In other words, you can't see through a cement wall just because you go astral, you would have to actually project and move your astral self to the other side of the wall to see what's there, right?

Sorry, WinterRat, have the warehouse e-mail but not yet the printout (don't ask, will have it on Friday) -- do I understand what I see as us being on the office side? ie. total concealment is the lower half of those office walls? and very little else in the way of cover? Or am I completely misunderstanding?
WinterRat1
Jun 21 2007, 06:46 AM
I won't ask.
You're basically on the office side.
Yes, there is total concealment on the lower half of those walls, and very little else in the way of cover.
The walls are made of plastiwood though, so I wouldn't rely on them to stop bullets very effectively (i.e. low barrier rating). They're better than nothing though, and do provide the advantage of concealment as well.

And don't I know it.
Concealment is all I am looking for, at this point -- that the squad on the catwalks overlooks and bypasses us, at least for that first combat turn. It's also the only cover this side of the smoke, which should help confuse readings. I'm trying to think of a way to create sound to suggest that we went down the stairs -- not doing it yet, Scrapheap! though we're running out of time, it's a commitment kind of thing. But at worst, decoying them down the stairs would give us superior ground and maybe even future surprise.
WinterRat:

Part of the vulnerabilities I'm looking for is literally if there's some way to drop a grenade down someone's pants or into a pocket: potentially much more effective than throwing might be. One among many thoughts
