Redjack i thought of a place for all the runners to meet i thought my character would know of atleast a few places around crime mall that would suffice for meeting up i found a place called forbidden city in seattle WA i would assume that it still exists i hope anyways if it doesnt can you recommend a place. i tried to find a few places around where we met so no one had to ride or drive to far to get there.

I'm going to summon and bind a couple of elementals. One Air Force 3 and one Water Force 3. The total time it'll take to summon and bind will be about six hours so I don't want to start doing that until we figure out when we're going to meet, which we won't know until our transport people figure out how long it'll take to travel wherever the hell it is we're going.
Since I've got a map co-ordinate can I just ask my GPS commlink doohickey to tell me how many miles away it is in a straight line or do I need to do computer search stuff to accomplish that? I've never even worked GPS in real life so I don't know if I'm asking a stupid question or not but it will help me get an idea how long it'll take to get where we're going.

Well, it's what Ms Johnson said. And it's certainly easier to manage without getting picked up by a border patrol than driving in there...

What you are asking for is a relatively simple thing, given the right understanding of programs and such. A Data Search + Browse with a threshold of 2 will give you the information. Defaulting for software is not to the attribute, but rather to which ever one of the two you have. (ergo: Punching someone is Agility + Martial Arts, defaulting to Agility only if you have no Martial Arts skill... So Matrix Searching is Data Search + Browse, defaulting to which ever you have). I think of the example of a person who can use a VCR but can't seem to figure out how to set the time.. Just because a VCR is in nearly every house, that doesn't mean people have developed skills to actually make use more than the most basic of features.
NOTE: A mapsoft can replace either missing component of this search.
Having neither, your character knows he needs to buy to some software to figure this out.

Sometimes good old fashion experience is a viable substitute for all that fancy software. You are aware of the routes that I presented to Thanee's character, though she has experience actually traveling those routes (due to her history) that Cynic does not.
The distance to the route is ~120 miles to the south.

Hey guys, maybe I'm being ignorant, but instead of renting a vehicle why don't we just steal one? I mean that way if we need to ditch it we're not out the money and it shouldn't lead back to us. We're only going to have the vehicle for a day so if we pick the right vehicle the theft might not even be noticed before we're back, and all we'd have to do is dump the tracing signal on the car and we're set.
If I'm missing something obvious please let me know but we are criminals after all, we ought to act like it.

being in the state of mind in the 21st century now and a ganger in 2060 something no thats something that would be plausible but being shadowrunners like we are the less attention the better we stay hidden. if we were to steal a vehicle then what are the chances of it being reported and if it is, who's is it are they important do they have something rigged in it more then just a simple tracking device, im not trying to sound mean or harp trust me im just trying to set a mind set for the fact that if we steal something rather then rent from a fixer or have a face if we had one talk our way into renting one then we are left with a clean slat wether or not we get caught or have to ditch the rented ride. besides we are guaranteed that the ride we rent from a dealership or a fixer is clean and we wont be stopped for no signal on the car or suspicion of it looking like a ride that was stolen earlier that night. am i making any sense?

Satyr, don't worry about contradicting me I'm inviting the discussion so taking an opposing view doesn't bother me in the least. I won't take it personally or feel your trying to be negative or anything. I'm feeling out what possibilities there are rather than stating a desired course of action.
Primarily I'm thinking that if we were to boost like a Hertz rent-a-van from its parking lot we could be reasonably assured of stripping it of any tracking signals. The corp couldn't afford to outfit every single vehicle with a bunch of tracking tech or any of that, it would be more expensive than just paying an insurance company. We could use a basic radio signal scanner or at worst be looking at a time delayed burst signal transmitter.
Now I admit stealing a vehicle comes with all sorts of additional intanglements. We'd have to be really careful to leave no forensic evidence in the vehicle which would be almost impossible, or we'd have to reduce the vehicle to vulcanized ashes. We might have additional people looking for us, although I'm not terrified by Hertz Rentals, and have an increased security risk. However, if we rent a ride from a fixer he's more likely to be able to find us if we trash his ride, since he knows who we are and is likely to have better street connections. Unless you really trust your fixer we'll have to be careful as to what kinds of forensic evidence we leave in the vehicle, and we can't just trash it when we're done.
Both options have pros and cons, I thought I'd just add another option to the table.

thats cool man i wasn't trying to be negative or stand offish i was just trying to explain the mind set of how my runner thinks i guess, he used to be part of the wildcats so he isn't used to boosting car and grand theft auto with such. Zion just wants a guaranteed ride that would be clean with no attachments if we are stopped by lonestar or any other security agency.
your right too that both have pro's and con's, either one would be a great idea.
im a pretty easy going guy in RL, i just want to chill and have a great gaming experience.

No prob Satyr.
I'll tell you though, my mage doesn't have any of the skills necessary to steal a car, so I won't be the one doing it. I have a control thoughts spell which might help moving an attendant around but other than that I'm useless for grand theft auto.
I'll leave it up to the rest of the group, probably just renting a ride is easier and it'll help move the story along provided our GM makes it so.

Hey, we're at the crime mall, there is a parking lot full of vehicles. None of the people here are likely to call the cops since when Lone Star came to take a police report the reporting party would likely be arrested. Hhmmmmmmmm. . .?
Who's our rigger? I bet he has the necessary skills. DJ, why don't you go ahead and steal a cool van, while I act as the . . . .look out.

The Mall Monsters are policing the parking lot. IMO they're worse than the police, if you get away from the police, they'll be perfectly happy to just wait until you screw up again. The Mall Monsters might not be so easy going.

And DJ will never be allowed back into the Crime Mall.....not a good career choice. However if said vehicle is in the lot we can follow them out of the Mall and the protection of the Mall Monsters....fair game at that point.
