Hmmm, well, an adjetive and an animal name are pretty common for company names I think - do we have an Aussie in the group? Could name ourselves the "Drop Bears" then... Screaming Eagles, Smiling Jackals, the Rattlesnakes, the Last Battalion (Hellsing connotation actually not intended... this time), the Horsemen... honestly, I'm not that great with names.

I'm asking about players.
1. On names, I'm also no good at names. Maybe something like, "Last Resort" or "Wildcards". Something that eludes to the fact that people hire us when the absolutely positively have no other choice, and want to see their enemies blasted off of the face of the earth. Maybe something with "Trump" in it too, but I don't like how that sounds by itself. If we went with Wildcards, or Trump-something we could all have a different card or suit or something on our gear.
2. As a player, I can handle most things if they're done tastefully. I won't be offended. IC, Overkill isn't going to be too picky about who he opens up on - but is a bit of a thrillseeker, so would like more of a challenge than making some kid's head explode from a mile away.

Edit2: Gametone - if its in an MA15+ I'm totally okay with it. So mowing down thousands of infidels after taking our shirts off and naming ourselves after gay porn stars is okay.

I like "Wildcards" or something card related then we've got Squad/person identifiers. 14 in total if joker, ace and 2-10 are used for individual callings then the other 3 could be used when we split in to groups or have squads attached. Plus we've got the suits for different roles such as magic, fire support, special weapons and vehicular. manb You could have fun witth that idea. "Dead mans hand" stands out as one name that is kind o' cool.
I like your idea, Blackhat, but we need to stay away from 'Wildcards' since that was the unit's nickname in Space: Above and Beyond... and they also each took a card for a handle. We could do something like "Dead Man's Hand" though. Or we could incorporate the word 'Knaves' somehow (the 'Jacks' were originally called Knaves)... if we do do playing cards, I call dibs on the 'Queen of Diamonds' card, as it has a connotation to Pallas

1) No clue, though I'm leaning towards something politically correct and corporate, like Tannenbaum Global Resource Management.
2) I'm playing a 10 foot tall former child soldier who beats people to death with a light machinegun when he doesn't feel like shooting them, and giggles a little bit inside when people fall out of a burning armored personnel carrier. He's a bad person, who grew up in a violent amoral world. I expect that as mercenaries working for the corporations that are raping the natural world to fatten the pockets of their shareholders, the characters are going to do bad things to good people for a mix of money and their own amusement. With that as a baseline, I figure things will get better and worse at times, but I'd be amazed if any of it bothers me.
Other ideas:

"Crying call" (Calling when a player thinks he does not have the best hand)
"Penny Ante" (Frivolous, low stakes, or "for fun" only; A game where no significant stake is likely to change hands)

I like the card idea and so far its winning. Knowing what some of those hands are would help fluff wise (to but on gear and such). But marksman fit the sniper.

If we go with card hand names for individuals, I call 'Four Horsemen' due to the biblical connotation unless someone objects.

In regards to the name, I would personally prefer something along the "end of the world" lines. Armageddon & Apocalypse are over-used, but maybe a translation of them from an uncommon language, like Hebrew or Latin.

Well, as a mercenary group full of potentially evil or homicidal people... we probably have some sort of rule where... you know, if you kill someone... its open season on you and your stuff. I'm sure pretty much any of us could pretty much instantly kill and of the rest of us if we wanted to... so we should just channel all that... murdering elsewhere.
I would assume some kind of "agree to disagree". We could even be friends, of a sort - in real life, my feelings towards religion, Christianity in particular, are very much like those of my character, yet two of my friends are Christians - of course, they agree that, typically, Christians are at best retarded...

Oh, I realize that - its just that out of the bunch of us, those two characters seem to have pretty much diametrically opposed world views, so I was wondering if they'd have been reconciled or would remain an undercurrent of bad vibes. Everyone is is made of awesome sauce... though thats probably not the best way to phrase the affection of a ghoul LOL. But seriously, she's normally very nice - its just that its hard to get along with someone who publicly states (unless this was changed and I didn't catch it) that all humanity needs to be wiped out... cause, you know, I think that everyone not-him counts as a human in that statement.

Sounds good - I can see them being friends as well - I mean, honestly, even Magneto and Dr. Xavier were friends (I really just showed my geek didn't I?). Besides, you want to cleanse the world, I want to cleanse the world... all you have to do is make room to let "God's Chosen" survive and we have the exact same goal LOL... and there is always the fact that we are I believe the only two HMHVV infected persons on the squad, so that's even more common ground. So friends works

1) I am probably a bit less comfortable with things than some of the other folks. But this is shadowrun. We are killers. But killing random folks, deliberately killing bystanders, or going after uninvolved children would really bother me. (Killing child soldiers is unfortunate, and might well bother my character more than it bothers me. As long as we keep the graphic level low.)
2) I do like the card names. I rather like "Maverick" (which, according to this Poker Hand explanation is QJ high.) I just hope I don't end up unable to hit any people

FYI: I was so excited about the possibility of getting into this game... as well as full of a desire to play with Runner's Companion, that I've completed a character already... so, if anyone decides they aren't full of enthusiasm and excitement... *grins*
I'm still up in the air about tradition. On the one hand I like the fluff of both Black and Chaos Magic for this character but the mechanics are lacklustre. On the other hand there are some interesting traditions, mechanically, like Voodoo but their fluff is just wildly wrong for this character. Would you consider a custom tradition that welded the most interesting elements of all three? I've slapped together a skeleton example with mechanics and some basic fluff below.

I think the biggest drawback to custom traditions is the reduced likelyhood that you'll meet anyone of the same tradition as you (either as mentors, group members, contacts, etc). So make sure you've lined something up ahead of time for any of those that you'll need.
I'm good with just about anything we end up doing as far as where the story takes us.
As far as nicknames go, I'm looking at Commander Crab, Steel Wheel, Saw Mill, Flat Tire, RPM, or Thirty (miles of bad road). Anyone think any are particularly fitting/horrible?

Hmmm it just occurred to me... people in military units usually have their callsigns given to them by their squad-members, right? So instead of picking our own call signs, why don't we have Dumori randomly assign each of us a team-member to give a callsign It could be fun!

I know I have been slacking here but I will do my best to get something set up today, i already have the character concept but I am trying to get Last Stand rolling at the same time as writing a character, been a bit rough with work being a overload.

Decybered stealth/face guy a bit, and rounded out some other equipment and skills, adding assorted heavier firepower, just so we have one more big explosion on the first IP, if necessary. I'm pretty satisfied, so he's pretty final. Just need to come up with a name that I'm really satisfied with.
