@ Mickle. Jean's going to ask if he might have access to your shop overnight to get started on gear mods. It'll be in the reserved post in IC so I thought I'd bring it up here in case you miss it.

@crizh The reply was made in my reserved post. basic summary: tools still boxed, but feel free to unpack them. don't touch drones on pain of fine red misting.

You know Frankie Boyle does this thing in his pre-Festival stage act where he tries to get the audience to laugh at things that they shouldn't.
He says his favourite sound is haha-ewww...
Two pieces of Patio furniture.
Hahahahahaha-ewwwwwwwww.

Boyle is special, in much the same way that Jim Jeffries, Ron White, and Patrice O'Neal are. Have to look around and see whether he ever does theater dates in New York.

Mar 29 2009, 07:28 AM
He's a regular on the BBC's Mock the Week.
He's said some truly appalling stuff 'off the cuff' on that show. Sometimes I think I'm going to throw up laughing....
DWC
Mar 29 2009, 02:14 PM
That's the best kind of comedy. Nothing beats that initial burst of laughter, then the moment of revulsion, followed by trying to figure out why you found it funny and why it bothered you and which you're more comfortable about.

Was thinking, what would it take to convince Abaddon to stuff a guardian spirit, task spirit, or a spirit of Man into each suit of armor? With the ridiculous endless day phenomenon, they wouldn't even have to be bound to stick around for the whole operation in Antarctica.
crizh
Mar 31 2009, 07:24 PM
They would have to be bound, you can only have one un-bound one at a time.
But I can certainly bind sufficient for the whole team, it'll take a few days to bind them all but it can be done.

Looking at the Anniversary edition, it does look like they fixed that bit where spirits on remote service didn't count as a mage's 1 unbound spirit. I'd imagine it was fixed sooner than that, but it worked that way in the first printing and I hadn't looked closely at it since then.

The no sunrise/sunset still works in our favor. You won't be burning through tasks every day to keep them around.

I was just fishing for something to make DangerClose's armor hardened, to spare the annoyance of having to roll for anything less than wide bursts of gauss rifle rounds. Picking up movement, concealment, and magical guard would just be a bonus.

Arctic = North Pole, I believe. If I am not mistaken, early October - early March = Night. As we are set in early January, it should still be dark out there.
Mickle5125
Mar 31 2009, 08:58 PM
which is why we're headed to the south pole.
DWC
Mar 31 2009, 08:59 PM
It was a typo. We're going to the south pole. Everyone loves -75 degC arid deserts, right?
On the plus side, it means that since pretty much everything electronic is solar powered, we don't have to worry about using generators to recharge everything on a constant basis.

Actually, it ought to be between around -30 - -40 C highs while we are there (Not that it matters much in that range what the exact temperature is.) But desert does seem the right description. As we are inland, we should not even expect snow. Dry and cold.

No problem DWC. With the full changes document out for SR4A I think we should go throw what rule we are going to use. I'm for all positive changes to be added post hence. Other than that the test threshold changes won't really harm this group. So your input guys.
JoelHalpern
Apr 5 2009, 12:12 AM
I did not actually see any changes I liked. They dramatically upped the prices on skillsofts. They increased the karma cost for increasing stats. The caps on pools are probably a good idea, although they would hurt this team some. The change in extended tests essentially halves the possible total, in ways that are particular bad for mediocre pools.
If there are specific changes you as GM think would help the game, let us know.
Yours,
Joel

• Th e Adept Power Improved Physical Attribute costs have been

.75 Power Points per level
1.5 Power Points per level over Natural Maximum
Dart weapons are now in game. And I will be using sleep deprivation as a toxin.
And this is might come in to play:
QUOTE
• Spirit Movement power has been limited slightly. If the target’s
Body Attribute exceeds the critter’s Magic, the normal increase
to movement is halved. If the target’s Body exceeds the critter’s
Magic x2, the power simply has no eff ect.
That really all I'm planing on changing.
The rest will harm the group a lot or are just clarifications that don't change my RAI much.
Fine with me. I'm guessing there are a few folks who're suffering from sleep deprivation already.
Muspellsheimr
Apr 5 2009, 02:02 AM
Funny thing is, because it's a Toxin, I am good for 120 hours without sleep, at which point I must make a (22 dice) Body + Willpower + Immunity (15 Threshold) Test to avoid dropping for 21 hours.
JoelHalpern
Apr 5 2009, 04:00 AM
I can live with folding those changes in.
Shall I re-allocate one point of adept powers?
Joel / Tam
PS: If so, I'll take suggestions on what to add. 4 more levels of critical strike seems silly, and not likely to help the team.

Heightened Concentration
Cost: 1
Th e adept is capable of tuning out a single distraction to her
task at hand. When using this power, the adept can ignore a single
situational negative dice pool modifi er of a value up to her Magic
attribute. Th is power requires a Complex Action to activate and
maybe be combined with the Adept Centering metamagic.

Nice. Spend a complex action to gain recoil compensation equal to your magic rating. Not bad at all.

Actually, I just rechecked. When we rebuilt the characters I ditched the adept reflexes and spent money for that. So no change to Tam whatsoever. Even without that, due to infusion, etc. his dice pool with his Alpha is 28 (but no use of the smartgun link for firing, if I read the attunement rules right. 8 pts of recoil compensation.) With the Thunderstruck, it is only 23 dice (but he can use the Smartgun link).
Joel / Tam
PS: Is "avoid armor" a situational modifier for heightened concentration? I am not sure it should be.
Muspellsheimr
Apr 5 2009, 09:57 PM
Called Shot to avoid armor - yes, Heightened Concentration works with it, as long as your Magic is high enough. Assuming a Magic of 7, you can use it to avoid any single modifier of -7 or less, but it has no effect at all on -8 or greater.

As long as your pulling the trigger a smartlink will still ad a bonus. you just can't have trigger removal installed. Thats my reading as the key word in my eyes in controlling.

roughly 75 thousand to mod the drones for cold-weather, then... repairs (GM's decision on costs) and lots and lots of bullets. and ballista mk II missiles for when we go up against vehicles.
IOW, somewhere between "That's alot of money" and Fort Knox would be enough.

Thanks Dumori. I suspect the key for all of us is not to get caught with our figurative pants down. As long as we are ready, we will dish out tons of damage.
I will be curious to see how the dice pools play out in combat.

Curses. Wikidot is down.
Mechanically, I'd imagine victory will invariably go to which ever side shoots first, since it's fairly obvious that we're way out past the limits of the sweet spot of the game mechanics. Somehow, I keep thinking it will all end with everyone hauling themselves out of the rubble of the construction site after it is destroyed by a strike from a hacked orbital weapons platform.
