... how much would a rigger's cocoon modded with enough hardened armor to survive said orbital strike cost?
Dumori
Apr 10 2009, 07:22 AM
My base plan is to give every one a personalized side arm custom look to link to the team and modded to fit well with everyone's strengths and weaknesses am thinking an Ares Crusader or other MP for Tam. The rest is a bit trickier DC and Abaddon/Jean cant fire a pistol without defaulting however Abbaddon has 15 agility so would roll 14 dice any way. Seraph has no gear up so cant see any holes to fill but am thinking a heavy pistol modded for stealth. And Lilith is small and in the same boat as DC and Abaddon. For DC I'm stumped on what to give him though I could throw in an active soft for said gun. For Abaddon and Lilith I need some player input.

I considered briefly what to do about a sidearm for DC, which is why he has the RPK. He'd never see the point of carrying something smaller on the battlefield. An Ingram White Knight with a barrel reduction for use in tight quarters could come in handy, but that's about the smallest weapon he'd be likely to bother with.

Lilith, when directly confronted, relies on her pistol crossbow with injection darts.
She'd more prefer the deltaware simsense booster, but that's probably a little out of your price range...

An Aztechnology F3a flamethrower, on an articulated weapon arm, upgraded to a smartgun, then modified with a rating 6 pilot program and targetting autosoft, and an Exotic Ranged Weapon:Flamethrower pluscoded activesoft?
Edit:
Or a troll modified Lockheed Sparrow.
Edit 2:
Or a troll portable launcher capable of firing the Mitsubishi-GM Outlaw missiles, and a dozen of the missiles with Block I and Block II warheads.
Edit 3:
Or an antique RPG-7 or MG-42 to hang over the mantle.
Edit 4:
Forget all that rediculous nonsense. How about a pimped out, custom look, telescoping staff?

Hey, got an hour of net access so I thought I'd check in.

[ Spoiler ]
As you know I'm not happy about a number of the changes.
The increase in the cost of stats is fine given the errata to karma awards and provided that karma gen gets a boost.
Characters created under the old rules with karma-gen should balance out.
I'm not happy with the Extended Tests cap. That's meant to be an optional 'suggestion' but is stated in the changes document as a rule.
It's stupid, vastly reduces the competence of existing B/R characters and hugely increases the chances of glitching.
The OR and Direct Combat Spell changes are also stupid. They will have no effect on Abaddon but vastly de-buff any less powerful Mages.
For the most part I was happy with the rules the way they were apart from some minor stuff like the sensors rules being crap and the lack of Air Rifles.
As to how much I need to be paid, I gave Abaddon the 'In Debt' quality partly to replicate the enormous expensive of running a black project like that. He costs a minimum of 45000
a month just to break even. I would imagine that working for the British Government and by extension Saeder Krupp the back office team might expect to see much of the capital investment in the project to be recouped. A reasonable estimate would be for the Project to go into the black after three months of operation which would require 200,000
plus expenses per calender month.
As to presents....
A disguised MGL-6 might make a nice toy, make it look like a legal side-arm of roughly the same size and give it all the widgets and a few exciting grenades in a nice presentation case. I like Gas/Splash with Lael and DMSO, excellent for area suppression and plausible deniability.

I think Dust knows what 'gift' Seraph wants
On a more serious note, I honestly cannot think of anything she needs, equipment-wise. I am open to suggestions.

This also makes some adept powers way WAY too powerful Dust gets an extra 14 goes at an extended test with these rules. However that is one im not happy with it works in some cases when doing some thing but modding or coding plus working in a controlled environment its silly. Where as jury rigging repairs to make an escape maybe I would use some thing like that if it would still be a possibility.

The MGL-6 would work, though the chemical splash grenades show a degree of finesse that'd just be alien to DC. He'd be more likely to keep the thing loaded with high explosive or incendiary grenades.

Interesting, though a drone with a Body of 2 can't have more than 6 (Bod*3) points of armor.
I'd have skipped the bipod and given it an underbarrel weapon like a flamethrower, or a monofilament chainsaw.

The bipod is so i can be set up with out a carrier and yeah I spotted the max armor of 6 after posting. Really where would this underbarrel weapon go?

I could see something like this having a coaxial Auto Assault 16 as a point defense weapon, mounted under the main missile tube. Also, if you use a smart firing platform instead of a bipod, you maintain the ability to emplace it like a sentry gun, and get back 3 modification slots.
Dumori

Very true. For point defence this:

Extended Clip
Chameleon Coating
Extreme Environment Mod (polar)
Foregrip (Underbarrel)

So, it just hit me. This band of freaks is the League of Extrordinary Gentlemen. Tam and Dust can fight over who's Tom Sawyer and who's Quartermain, DC is Jeckyl and Hyde, Abaddon is Nemo, Lilith is the Invisible Man, and Seraph is Harker. Means we have to kill the next person we pick up, since he's clearly Darian Grey, but that's a problem for another day.

There doesn't really seem to be much happening. I'd like to get the negotiation out of the way and get cracking on shipping gear and prepping.
Running some combat simulations on the UV node would be a fun way of getting some action, perhaps you could do a 'Danger-room' spin-off thread and those that are interested could rattle through some sample engagements.
Dumori
Apr 30 2009, 03:52 PM
That was my plan for the UV node. If we set the post after the negoiations thne we'll get the slow bit out of the way. Honestly we've done most oof it just got to put it all forward. Then I have to go um.. Xnuyen works the best.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm totally fine with "everyone settles on the MoD paying you X", with X being an abstract amount sufficient to cover all operating expenses and give everyone enough of a profit to continue living their happy, hedonistic (or aescetic) lifestyles.

I will have an IC post up in a day or two. Primary reason I have not yet done so is I am not entirely sure how I am going to write it (I know what I am going to do).
Brief rundown of events (I am very tired, so likely missed something).
Fuck the Johnson - I do not trust he gave us all/accurate information, & best way of obtaining it (IMO) is through pillow talk, which I 'know' will work. 9 Hits on Seduction, as previously posted during the meet. I also ruin every other woman for him with my exceptional talent & experience, just to be an ass.
Equipment/Supplies - as far as I am aware, the employers are not aware of my infection, & I do not wish to rely only on employee's/team members at the site. I also want to pick up a bit of additional stuff, like Ringu Capsules for my sniper.
Really fuck up / twist the Dryads mentality for 2-3 weeks, before (probably) turning her into a Banshee.
Continue attempting to seduce Dust (I will not resort to rape - yet).
Get to know other group members in a bit more intimate detail.

DangerClose's activities for the weeks involve working on his armor, and testing it. He's going out of his way to get the required parts through the Ministry of Defense to add the following to better prepare him for hazardous environment duty.
Form Fitting Body Armor, full suit
nonconductivity 6
insulation 6
radiation shielding 6
chemical protection 6
Heavy Military Armor
Upgrade hydraulic jacks to R6
Mobility Upgrade R3
nonconductivity 6
insulation 6
radiation shielding 6
How much in the way of parts will the MoD be willing to provide?
Edit:
Shuffled some things around to make sure all the hazard protection items were also added to the heavy armor in addition to being part of the FFBA suit. That'll teach me to post after driving 900 miles in one day.

So guys you have a gear limit for this next bit its not too bad but it dose limit Lilith's drones (but I've sorted that out already) This limit isnt too strict but it is for what you can carry or store in a few crates so now drones bar those Lilith is bringin for this and for weapons and ammo Just think on the logical side of what you could and will bring in to a comabt zone we should be able to fit most of it in but some of you have one hello of a lot of ammo and/or heavy weapons.

Pretty much all of my gear fits in the Auxilia which is well within my ability to personally levitate.
So I've already got all that gear on the ground with me in Antarctica. The only question is whether or not I have any idea where this bloody base is? I'm sure I've asked already but it's been lost in all the background noise.
If I know where the base is I'm already set up with a well dug in Mortar emplacement otherwise I'm an hour or so away from being able to set that up. As soon as I know about the invading force I'm 5 minutes from being able to take direct action against them.
Dumori
Jul 9 2009, 08:30 PM
Well you could use movement on the LAV and your self and tail it. Also I'm pretty sure you didn't ask even if you did you've still just disembarked form the suborbital so if you can get there fast then go for it I'll give you the location any way if plot is a problem I'll say the pilot gave it you. Also I still would need to work out the time it will take to get there.
crizh
Jul 9 2009, 09:02 PM
Thing is, I'm not on the sub-orbital, I've been in Antarctica for 2 days getting the lay of the land. If I know where the base is I can tell you how long it will take we to get there, less than an hour probably. If I knew in advance where the base was I could already be set up.
Abaddon doesn't fly sub-orbitals.
I could send one of the Spirits I've bound to hurry the LAV along but only if the rest of the team contacts me and lets me know what's going on.

Ok if your there I'll have a post for you soon XD I think I missed that had a fun day trying to fix my internet that's broken for no logical reason.
We'll contact you about the base is about -81° 29' 4.20", -5° 39' 15.48" I have an exact one some place but thats a quick guess via google maps.
from london to the landung point to ~9,880.29Km
From the suborbitals landing point its ~6,248km
as you can see some of this maths is wrong in a straight line one should get from A-B in less than A-C-B in a none straight line.
Sub-orbitals are fast about an hour to any where.
