SUNDAY KARMA

WinterRat: 3
Bandit: 2
Sentinel: 1 (wasn't really the quota number of posts for a week, but I liked it)

Due to the note below, I'm also giving out a small karma point advance of 2 points each to all three players. That's over and above what I'm assigning when I get back.

NOTE TO ALL

My PM box is temporarily full, so I can't get any more messages until I sort through everything and get things cleared out tomorrow.

I'm also going to be away from the Internet starting Monday until around October 10, with a small possibility I will be stopping in at the end of the month, so I won't be answering anything until then.

Sentinel: keep on as you have been going, and I'll be happy smile.gif

WinterRat will be running Alleycat in Salvation, mostly minor things just so as not to delay player action.

Have fun, play hard, and Live in the Shadows! biggrin.gif
banditf50
Sedna I sent this question in a PM, but due to your message I'll post it here as well . . .

What is the status of the rubble? Virgil needs to know if the site qualifies as a city domain or if it is still a hearth domain. This minor detail affects how he carries out the plan that he has formed. . . .

Have an outstanding trip where-ever you are going!
Sedna
Yours was the last one I (think I) got through before Dumpshock informed me that I couldn't save the sent message, because I didn't have the room.

For spirit purposes no enclosed form: city or sky spirits acceptable, but not hearth.
banditf50
Virgil summoned a force 6 city spirit. With wound modifiers the TN is 7 not counting what you deem the background count to be . . .

Conjuring 6 + 4 spell pool dice = 14, 11, 11, 9, 7, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2

I figure a background count of ~2, but let me know so I know how many services Virgil has to work with.

Drain resistance.

CHA 6 + 2 spell pool dice = 8, 5, 5, 5, 4, 2, 2, 1

I'm betting that is no successes once background count is added to the TN, so it looks like Virgil is now dealing with a M stun in addition to previous wounds.

Let's hope that no more elementals decide to jump Virgil, because no one has enough luck to overcome a -3 wound modifer spin.gif
Sedna
Uhm -- spell pool as such doesn't add to conjuring in any way, shape or form. (Power foci are a bit of a special case.)

I took two off the bottom and two off the top: net 2 services after background count is figured in.

Same deal with drain: one off the top, one off the bottom -- but fortunately (or unfortunately) that wouldn't have made a difference anyway: you were right, no successes.
Sedna
She'll still have four points of physical damage. She's starting to regain consciousness, but it won't be a quick thing. You're all still concealed.

WinterRat -- maybe you could turn it into one of those "learning people skills" moments?
WinterRat1
OK, continuity problem here. Apparently you just beat me Sedna. I can edit mine, but quick question before I do about this section.

QUOTE
Virgil felt an urgent need to say something, anything -- but for the life of him he could not think of what.

The mage must have caught some of it. "Friend," he said, his eyes softening a little, "he's almost forgotten who he is, and you're walking the same path."

QUOTE
The mage must have caught some of it.

Who is "the mage"? Virgil or the DocWagon Mage?

QUOTE
"Friend," he said, his eyes softening a little,

Who is the speaker talking to?

QUOTE
"he's almost forgotten who he is, and you're walking the same path."

Who is the "he", and who is the "you" (i.e. the person the speaker was initially addressing above?)

I'll edit after I get an answer to those questions.
Sedna
I use "mage" exclusively for "hermetic mage", and "shaman" when I intend "shaman" specifically. Otherwise I use "magician" or "magically active". So here, "mage" refers to the Doc Wagon mage.
QUOTE
Who is the speaker talking to?

Virgil. Dragon might belatedly be getting the sense that the Doc Wagon mage isn't really very happy with him at the moment.
QUOTE
> he's almost forgotten who he is, and you're walking the same path."

Who is the "he", and who is the "you" (i.e. the person the speaker was initially addressing above?)

The Doc Wagon mage glanced in Dragon's direction as he was saying this, but he is talking to Virgil throughout.
QUOTE
I'll edit after I get an answer to those questions.

No need to edit -- make it stronger, DON'T EDIT! smile.gif It's entirely possible Dragon overwalked with a bit of that, and that some of it never quite reached audibility. It is what Dragon was expecting after the phrase "not one of ours", after all. How many people do you know who respond to one thing just as soon as they think they know where it was going?

(Sorry -- editing this even more just to try to make it clear.)
Sedna
All right, for continuity purposes --

The first paragraph of mine and the first paragraph of yours come simultaneously.

The tired smile stays. It's utterly appropriate in both posts exactly where it is -- and it might have different meanings depending on who is looking at it.

The bit of digging happens next, but they don't excavate her completely, for precisely the reasons Dragon gives.

The mage heals her and tries to stand up at the same time as Dragon says "Can you move her now and stabilize later" -- he catches him by sheer reflex, possibly half not realising it.

Then the rest of what Dragon says ... and then what the mage says at the end. (Obviously what he's caught was not what Virgil didn't say, but what Dragon did.

Heal is a time-consuming spell, so the wounds don't instantly close over -- and Dragon, with his attention elsewhere (scanning for threats) might not have realised immediately it had already been cast.

Does this work?
WinterRat1
Sounds good to me. So basically, the mage is saying to VIRGIL that I (Dragon) have almost forgotten who I am, and he (Virgil) is walking that same path. Got it.

Continuity is cool. Perhaps just to edit your post to clarify that particular part of confusion for easier reading later on? If not that's fine, I just know we'll be referring to this later.
banditf50
Virgil is going to cast a heal spell on the women. I'd roll it now, but I will not be back to my dice for a bit over an hour. Feel free to just improvise if you want . . . the spell is only force 4 so I do not expect it will help a whole lot.

You still had the idea to have that stree clinic set up in Pulyup right? I assumed so which I was I thought we could go pay visit to Juliette.
Sedna
I edited in and expanded the above continuity note into the IC thread.

Two Heals can't be cast on the same person (sorry!). You probably had the advantage of having the Doc Wagon mage cast it, at the higher Force and the D level drain.

Thanks for reminding me -- yes, that clinic very much exists.

And without changing or removing anything else I added a couple of phrases to my post from yours, WinterRat, because they worked and were beautiful.
banditf50
Thanks. This certainly has been a frantic few moments with all three of us online and posting at the same time. I starting typing my last IC post before your post about her regaining consciouness was up, so I assumed she was still greatly wounded . . .

Sedna
biggrin.gif ... can you imagine this, tabletop? But why don't one or both of you two write her all the way into the Puyallup clinic -- there's certainly enough confusion around that you should have no problem getting through the Star lines now -- just let me write the description of the place? She could be on her feet but she's dragging, and you'd have very much to support her.

I'll be out of the way for an hour, while I get together next-week information. That should keep accidental post-crashes to a minimum.
banditf50
Sedna perhaps you could provide me with the ethnic background of Galina. I plan on doing some work to flesh out the clinic and it would help if I could imagine her accent.
Sedna
It's not so much accent as a poor grasp of English -- Galina has zero education (as the term is most commonly used). Ethnically, she's a mongrel. I'll e-mail you what I have of her and Bob before I leave.
WinterRat1

Btw, I don't want to penliaze anyone's character for simply being the reserved type. If you don't want your character to say anything, that's fine, just post their thoughts or perceptions or internal monologue or something. And for those who are wondering, Sedna's extra was for her Shadowlnand posts. No secret backroom GM deals going on. Promise.

And great job role-playing by the way, I am enjoying watching the dialogue unfold. smile.gif
WinterRat1
Sorry again about the lateness of karma. I was out of town for the weekend and didn't get a shot at the computer. Anyway, here you are.

No worries... I know that I've been a bit tardy with posts myself.
WinterRat1
Since it was such a slow week last week and I was swamped, I will post two weeks worth of karma this sunday. Just an announcement.
Sedna
Back! smile.gif and I'll follow up in about 12 hours with everyone I'm running. (Extremely tired. Thanks for all your patience.) At the moment I didn't see anything I can really add a post to in the LitS IC thread, but if that changes, I'll write it tomorrow.

I'll also catch up on e-mail then. At least I've cleared out a bit of my PMs, so that's accessible again.
WinterRat1
No, you're right about the LITS posts. Sorry I didn't write more, beyond being swamped I was waiting for your response to the email I sent you so I know exactly how many contacts I acutally can buy and I know which ones I have. Probably shouldn't write about contacts I don't have, eh? wink.gif

I think we're all a little tired, Dumpshock's seemed a bit slow lately. I'm certainly exhausted. Bleh. Anyway, now that you're back, promise to be more on the ball about getting stuff up. Glad you're back! Hope your trip went well, and we'll speak son, I'm sure. Take care and rest up! smile.gif

BELATED SUNDAY KARMA (this is for two weeks)

WinterRat: 3
Sentinel: 2

(That's over and above the small advance I mentioned earlier.)

Sentinel, if you want an easy way to double the karma you're earning, significantly expand on the details of the ritual. Make it full-sensory: how it looks, how it sounds, how it smells, how it feels when splatterings happen to make contact with your skin (sometimes burning through your clothing to do so). Give (al)chemical details: interactions, what melts, what burns, what's left behind, and when something accidentally blisters you.

Also, bring in astrological data (google an ephemerus), phases of the moon (any future makings will have to start either at new or full moon, this one's a bit of a unique exception because it's your First), possible incense or other herbal aspects in the background (even if it's just an herbal tea or a stick of frankencense -- nothing saying every aspect of this extended ritual has to involve radicals!), the feel of the mana flows and their manipulation, a few details of the magical rituals you're using to focus them. It's more than just Ye Olde High School Chemistry Experiment.

I know there's nothing canon about this. Make something up! That's the beauty of this type of roleplaying structure! smile.gif

OK. Let me know when you have a chance to respond to the email I sent to you on Sept 22 about my character and let me know what you think.
Sedna
Just finished writing it smile.gif
Shev
Just in case you didn't notice, WinterRat, I've posted on the Shadowland thread as part of my search in Salvation. I hope that's all right by you.
WinterRat1
No, that's awesome, that's what it's there for! I'll post a response to you there (not tonight, must sleep) but you can find a response there. Great job using it! smile.gif
WinterRat1
Sedna, will get that contact sheet to you ASAP. It's my bad, I should have it to you by now. Actually, character will get done tonight. Sybersnake and Dragon are actually very close (Lv. 2 contact). Below is a copy of their primary interaction from The Warehouse Job (pg. 5) if you're interested. You did a great job, this is definitely not a criticism. If anything, it's my fault for not giving you anything to work with earlier about what they're like. Anyway, here's something you can examine and see, and I'll have details for you later this evening. Feel free to edit (or not) your post as you feel appropriate. Whether you do or not, I'll write in a way that responds and portrays their relationship as appropriate.

QUOTE
Dragon nods. "Good point. All right, I'll see you guys back here at 11 then. If anyone wants me to ask my friend anymore questions, let me know. See you all later."

Dragon exits the warehouse and heads home to one of his safehouses, making sure that he is not being followed.

En route, he calls up his decker friend, Sybersnake. An attractive Latina with a dark tan and long black hair popped up in his image link. She gave a wide smile when she saw who it was.

"Hey Syber, what's up? I was wondering if you had time to do me a little favor? I'm doing a little research on this company, and I was wondering if you could grab some of their files for me?"

Her smile turned playful, and she pretended to examine her nails while ignoring him for a few seconds. "Hmm...well I'm pretty busy right now, but I might be able to squeeze you into my agenda. How much time you think it'll take?"

"Not too long, I just need some blueprints, building layouts, nothing too heavy."

Sybersnake paused for a moment, and pretended to think. Then she playfully rolled her eyes and replied, "Shouldn't be too bad. OK, give me specifics."

Dragon grinned. "Thanks chummer, I appreciate it." He gives her the name of the company and the address of the warehouse, then continues, "I don't need much, what I'm looking for are mainly blueprints of the building, layouts of the property. In particular, any details on the security system, especially whether or not they have an active rigger on site or if they are running CCSS. Also, any non-standard access points, such as sewer, electrical, ventilation, you get the idea. Any other security protocols or security services or providers would be useful as well. You don't have to look for it, but if you can find it, anything on who this company belongs to would be a plus. You catch all that?"

"Null sheen. I got it. When do you need it back by?"

"I'm meeting my team in about eight hours, so any time before that is good. Can you do it?"

Looking appropriately indignant, she pretended to be exasperated as she replied, "Can I do it? Of course I can do it. Duh."

"OK OK. Will you do it?"

"Weeeeeellll..." Before she could get into her weaseling tone of voice she got when she wanted something and was just playing with him, he interrupted, "Yes yes, same thing. Dinner at your choice of location and menu."

She arched an eyebrow at him. "And I'll dress up." She continued to arch her eyebrow at him without moving it. He always wondered how she did that. With a exaggerated pained grimace, he added, "In a suit."

"Yay!" Sybersnake laughed and clapped her hands and tossed her hair back delightfully. "I love how you always play these little games with me. You're so patient."

Giving her a smile, he replied, "You're worth it. So you'll do it then?"

"Of course. All right, give me a few. I'll see you later. And your suit better be clean!" She pretended to admonish him with her finger.Laughing, Dragon answered, "Don't worry, it will be. Thanks a lot for this. I appreciate it."

"You better." She grinned at him.

"I do," he smiled back. "I'll see you later. Take care."

"Catch you in a few," she replied as she hung up. Breaking the connection, Dragon continued home.
Sedna
Thanks, very helpful! Maybe just some slight editing then, to bring more of her personality across: but the essence of the info will remain the same. I still leave it up to you (in your next post, perhaps) whether or not they have ever meat-body met, whether that's appropriate ... or whether this is to be the first time?

Edit: Done. Better? smile.gif
banditf50
I've finally gotten everything in order and am back posting here. . . many apologies for my lacking participation. Also just as a forewarning I will be out of town from Friday evening until Sunday morning attending the wedding of two friends.

Sorry, guys, but the computer ate the original post in its entirety [/pain], so I had to recreate it from scratch. That's about half of it, all I could get done in today's time. Other half tomorrow.
WinterRat1
Paul, my bad man, I totally apologize for the lateness of that post. I got a little caught up in catching up with my own posts and somehow on my list of things to do, the response got lost in the shuffle. If I am delaying on a post or whatever, by all means, please give me a bump, especially if it looks like I forgot. I certainly wasn't ignoring you. Again, I apologize. Hope no hard feelings. smile.gif
Sedna
And that was the other half, more or less. Again, sorry about that.
WinterRat1
As a general rule of thumb, I allow/request players to write the introductory post to a new situation unless it is specifically requested that I write it. So in this particular context, Shev and Paul, I'd like you guys to write the introductory post introducing yourselves to the locales you intend on going to.

It gives me an idea of not only what you're doing, but how, and saves me asking questions like, "Are you doing any surveillance? What time do you want to get there? What are you dressed like? What are you carrying with you? What do you look for? Are you giving the guy the password?" And so on. If there are any issues with that, please let me know.

In general, this thread is based on the idea of player participation, so I am deliberately holding off on GM intervention and allowing all of you to control the flow of the activities in which your characters are involved to a large extent. Did that all make sense?

A GENERAL CALL FOR RESPONSE
Would you all like to see more, less, or about the same level of GM interaction and involvement on my part? I am starting to feel like I have not posted enough, but you all were in a meet, carrying the action very well, and there wasn't much need for me to say or do anything.

So if you would like me to post more or involve myself more in the lives of your characters, please tell me. As you can see from my own posts, I'm hardly adverse to long or frequent posting, I just was uncertain how much you all expected/wanted additional complications (read: life) on the part of your characters.
paul_HArkonen
I think it's fine. I'm quite enjoying myself, and the player/player interaction is quite interesting.
Shev
I'm good. I wasn't sure how you wanted to do the club. How much description do you want us to post? I'm not sure the kind of image you have in mind for the bar. If you can PM us a rundown of what the place is like if we have to go there, that's be great. I think that in a situation like this, it's generally safe to assume that the character will sniff around the place a bit for anything really suspicious.
WinterRat1
Shev, seeing as how you played the game, I trust you to have a reasonably accurate view of it in mind. alternatively, you can just post showing up and checking it out, and I'll take it from there. It takes a little longer, but in this situation either is fine, it really doesn't matter.
paul_HArkonen
oh and I realize I haven't posted ariving yet, I'm going to hold off on that until I realize what exactly Shev is planning, but I'm going to be using Caveman Kate's as straight from MJLBB.
WinterRat1
Which I unfortunately do not have. Blame the accursed slow distribution process. Just try to describe it as best you can, and send me any relevant details you feel are necessary to be included.
paul_HArkonen
sorry about that, it's nothing really the only thing of real interest is there is a fair amountof underground gambling, other than that its a standard shadowrunner joint.
Shev
Since the meet is part of the Salvation Run, I'll just post it in the Salvation thread. That way, it won't get lost in the massive amout of posting we have here smile.gif
