I know the feeling, Ecclesiastes. May things work out for you.
WinterRat1
Sedna and Paul, give me etiquette rolls please.

EDIT: Paul, this is in addition to your previous etiquette roll.
WinterRat1
Ecclesiastes- Sorry to see you go, I really enjoyed watching Todd. It sounds like this is a long term serious kinda thing, and I hope it works out for you. Take care. smile.gif
Morgannah
Okay, Cos needs to do a few things:

- figure out the "to's" and the "from's" for this place
- judge where her marks are most likely to come from, and why
- check the rail schedule
- find an optimal place to take care of business (are there buildings in the area? how remote is the beach and does it look like it could be busy in the afternoon)
- check for surveillance (of course)

I'm probably forgetting a ton, but I'll post stuff as it comes to me.

<Heh, like my perception roll: 2.3.4.5.5.5.9.10>

QUOTE

The only major thoroughfare is Pacific Coast Highway, which leads into and out of the area. Once you get to the beach, you have a number of smaller access roads and surface streets which carry you around the small community.

QUOTE

Good question. Possibly a beachline drop off from a ship?

QUOTE
- check the rail schedule

Every half hour during peak hours (0800-1100 and 1500-1800), every forty five minutes outside of that.

QUOTE
- find an optimal place to take care of business (are there buildings in the area? how remote is the beach and does it look like it could be busy in the afternoon)

The only building with a good line of sight to the location is the lifeguard tower further down the beach. The overlook is reasonably isolated, and there are hiking trails further out on the bluffs to the east and west which might provide more cover.

QUOTE
- check for surveillance (of course)

None detected.

Temporary Absence Announcement

This evening I will be traveling to St. Louis for the weekend to attend the wedding of one of my girlfriend's relatives. I will be back Sunday in the late afternoon. I will have internet access while there so I should be able to respond to posts.

Thank you.
Bastard
QUOTE (grendal)
That's enough to take care of Marquis' light wounds, but it still leaves him with 9 boxes of stun. That goes away only with rest, so once he's moved to a place where he can get some sleep, roll me body or willpower (whichever is higher) against a TN of 5.

Body 4
[ Spoiler ]
grendel
One success means you're looking at an hour to heal per box, down to the next wound level. So four hours takes you to five boxes of stun, at which point you can reroll against a TN of 4.
paul_HArkonen
Yeah, it's always unforchunate when life gets hectic, hope it works out, Ecclesiastes.

[ Spoiler ]
Morgannah
I'll also be out for the weekend to visit with my honey's family. Heh, I'll also be back sometime Sunday.

Funny how these things work out ....

Take care, everyone! wavey.gif

All my players - I think I'm up to speed on my end. Is anyone waiting on me for anything at this point?

Slip- Are you heading home to check your messages then? You're the only one I wasn't sure of.
Slipshade
WinterRat1 -Yep that was my plan. I was on a business trip Thursday and Friday of last week, then had my girls first birthday party and my best friend's son's first birthday party on Saturday. I will ttry to post something up today at lunch.

Sorry for the delay,

Slip
WinterRat1
No worries at all Slip! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me you were waiting on. I'm learning the value of constant periodic checks to facilitate smoother communication. Congrats for the 1st bday for your daughter! smile.gif
Scrapheap
Slip-
Holy moly! My girl's first birthday party was Saturday as well! Small world.

Slipshade
WR1 - Daughters. We have triplets. smile.gif

Scrap what day was your daughter born. My girls were actually born on the 10th. It was hilarious, we had about 6-8 kids all born within a week of each other at the two parties.

Ah, the Holidays biggrin.gif

Slip
WinterRat1
Scrap- Give me a charisma roll and a perception check as well.
Scrapheap
Slip-
I repeat: Holy Moly! We often wonder how people with 2 kids manage, but 3! At once! Wow. How are you able to post at all?

Our daughter was actually born on the 11th, the 10th just worked better for party-scheduling.

WR1-

WR1 - Ok I posted up to checking for messages. Post any if I have then or let me know if the machine is blank and I will continue on from there.

Scrap - We got our daughter home from the hospital one at a time so I got to experience what it was like with two babies. Actually it isn't to bad. We still had time to rest and relax, it wasn't until we got our third home that things got really hectic.

I get the question "How do you do it?" a lot and the simple answer is...You just find a way. It is really that simple. Sure it is a lot more stressful, but you just take care of them the best that you can. Everything else just has a way of working itself out.
Scrapheap
So you just switch from man-to-man to zone and do your best. Well, hats off to you, my friend! Keep up the good work. biggrin.gif
Slipshade
Yah, I am a bit worried about when they all learn to walk. It is going to be a lot harder to take them places, especially if it is just my wife or myself. Time to get those little harnesses with the retractable tethers. biggrin.gif
WinterRat1
Slip- No messages yet, it's only been a couple hours since you called, so you figure they must all still be out working the lines for info still.

Karma awards for my players

Cedric: 1pt (Sep 5th - Sep 11th)
Scrapheap
WR1-
Well, hopefully those guys aren't with the fixer. Maybe it was an offer I couldn't refuse!

John's going to check to see if anything could give away their affiliation. Tell-tale tatoos peeking out from under their suits at the wrists, etc.

[ Spoiler ]
WinterRat1
Scrap- If you had to guess, they look like they could be Yakuza, but you wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Give me a surprise roll, TN 4, no ambush mods since you saw them coming in and were sort of waiting for this. And to save time, give me your initiative roll as well.

Sorry, it just isn't time for a true evil laugh yet.

....

I've read that THREE times now and I still have a headache. biggrin.gif
grendel
It's kind of like that old Calvin and Hobbes cartoon, with a speeding passenger train heading west, a massive eastbound freight train, a tractor-trailer loaded with compressed natural gas on its way north, and a jumbo jet trying to make an emergency all-engines-out landing. All of which are trying to occupy the same space at the same time.

If you want to be making moves on the street, have no attachments, have nothing in your life you can't walk out on in thirty seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.

I see someone else out there loves the movie Heat, eh Grendel? Now I'm picturing Caska sort of looking like Val Kilmer. smile.gif

Not De Niro because he's a bit too old. Plus, it sounds like someone was saying it to Caska, hence, Val.
grendel
Darker hair, but yeah, that's roughly analogous. Heat is such an essentially Shadowrun movie. I knew it when I first saw it. When you say professional criminal, that's what comes to mind.
bclements

One of these days we're going to have a street shootout and you're going to long for the times of easy cover behind cars and confined spaces where Blimps of Doom can't reach you. Just sayin'.
Scrapheap

WinterRat1
Heat is one of the quintessential SR movies. A must see for any SR player. One can learn a lot from watching it. And Grendel, I hope that street shootout comment was directed towards BC. wink.gif

Scrap- You are first. Modified reaction does count for surprise, and you may post your action, since you are not surprised by any of them and have initiative. Are you flipping it towards the goons near the front door (group of 3), or the west wall (group of 2)? The kitchen is straight behind you, coincidentally enough.
grendel
Of course it was. Afterall, your character hasn't appeared in my game. Yet.
Scrapheap
WR1-
I'll flip it towards the larger group. And, is it obvious that they are aiming for us, or did the fixer just choose the wrong restaraunt?

-S
WinterRat1
grendel- it's that 'yet' part that worries me.

Scrap- You can't tell yet, because they technically haven't gone yet, but it sure as heck looks like they're aiming for you or Cheryl. Or both.
Sedna
Sorry, just a reminder that it isn't internal headware: just an earplug cellphone with a subvocal rig. I'll try to get up a proper post later -- but paul, if you happen to beat me to it, that's fine too smile.gif
Scrapheap
WR1-
I guess that answers that question!

John's going to quickdraw a pistol, use the doorway for cover, and take down one of the yaks(?). The remaining guy from the smaller group, to eliminate the cross-fire.

The_Eyes
"Unfortunately"? Bloodthirsty little critter, aint'cha? smile.gif
Scrapheap
If I was that bloodthirsty, would I be packing gels in the first place?
Slipshade
Rules Question: How long does it take to learn a spell that you already have the spell formula for?
WinterRat1
Gotta look that one up. NO IDEA off the top of my head. Helpful answer there, wasn't it? grinbig.gif
Slipshade
No problem Winter. I don't really have much to do but wait for calls, so I figured that if it was only a matter of spending the karma or using an hour or two of time, I would add on a few spells that I already have the formula for. If it takes to long then I will find something else to do with my time. smile.gif
grendel
According to my notes, learning spells requires a Sorcery vs TN(spell force x2) test, with magic background and instruction skill as complimentary. The base time to learn a spell is Force in days, with successes dividing normally.
Slipshade
Well there goes that idea. smile.gif
Eyeless Blond
Heh, yeah; that's why you make sure to learn any Force 6 spells at chargen. nyahnyah.gif
