Okay, Cos needs to do a few things:
- figure out the "to's" and the "from's" for this place
- judge where her marks are most likely to come from, and why
- check the rail schedule
- find an optimal place to take care of business (are there buildings in the area? how remote is the beach and does it look like it could be busy in the afternoon)
- check for surveillance (of course)
I'm probably forgetting a ton, but I'll post stuff as it comes to me.

- figure out the "to's" and the "from's" for this place
The only major thoroughfare is Pacific Coast Highway, which leads into and out of the area. Once you get to the beach, you have a number of smaller access roads and surface streets which carry you around the small community.
QUOTE
- judge where her marks are most likely to come from, and why
Good question. Possibly a beachline drop off from a ship?
QUOTE
- check the rail schedule
Every half hour during peak hours (0800-1100 and 1500-1800), every forty five minutes outside of that.
QUOTE
- find an optimal place to take care of business (are there buildings in the area? how remote is the beach and does it look like it could be busy in the afternoon)
The only building with a good line of sight to the location is the lifeguard tower further down the beach. The overlook is reasonably isolated, and there are hiking trails further out on the bluffs to the east and west which might provide more cover.
QUOTE
- check for surveillance (of course)
None detected.

Temporary Absence Announcement
This evening I will be traveling to St. Louis for the weekend to attend the wedding of one of my girlfriend's relatives. I will be back Sunday in the late afternoon. I will have internet access while there so I should be able to respond to posts.
Thank you.

One success means you're looking at an hour to heal per box, down to the next wound level. So four hours takes you to five boxes of stun, at which point you can reroll against a TN of 4.

Scrap - We got our daughter home from the hospital one at a time so I got to experience what it was like with two babies. Actually it isn't to bad. We still had time to rest and relax, it wasn't until we got our third home that things got really hectic.
I get the question "How do you do it?" a lot and the simple answer is...You just find a way. It is really that simple. Sure it is a lot more stressful, but you just take care of them the best that you can. Everything else just has a way of working itself out.

It's kind of like that old Calvin and Hobbes cartoon, with a speeding passenger train heading west, a massive eastbound freight train, a tractor-trailer loaded with compressed natural gas on its way north, and a jumbo jet trying to make an emergency all-engines-out landing. All of which are trying to occupy the same space at the same time.

Not De Niro because he's a bit too old. Plus, it sounds like someone was saying it to Caska, hence, Val.

Still can't remember if surprise includes modified reaction. I rolled w/o.
Surprise:
13 05 05 02 01
Initiative:
06 05 03=14+9=23
With my first action (assuming I am not surprised or shot) John's going to stand, grab the edge of the table with his left (cyber) hand, and flip it towards the goons. I know it won't make it anywhere near them, but may provide a distraction. He's then going to grab his stuff and the fixer and make for the back door.

Heat is one of the quintessential SR movies. A must see for any SR player. One can learn a lot from watching it. And Grendel, I hope that street shootout comment was directed towards BC.

Scrap- You are first. Modified reaction does count for surprise, and you may post your action, since you are not surprised by any of them and have initiative. Are you flipping it towards the goons near the front door (group of 3), or the west wall (group of 2)? The kitchen is straight behind you, coincidentally enough.

Sep 14 2005, 09:42 PM
No problem Winter. I don't really have much to do but wait for calls, so I figured that if it was only a matter of spending the karma or using an hour or two of time, I would add on a few spells that I already have the formula for. If it takes to long then I will find something else to do with my time.
grendel
Sep 14 2005, 10:14 PM
According to my notes, learning spells requires a Sorcery vs TN(spell force x2) test, with magic background and instruction skill as complimentary. The base time to learn a spell is Force in days, with successes dividing normally.
