I'm sorry that dossier took so long to write. It was harder than I expected to come up with even that for a character I never thought I'd need to provide that much information on!

We need to fast forward you to the meet with Scrapheap and the other guy Tin Star arranged for you to meet, so when you get back, could you please write a post that fast-forwards you to the meet? Anything you need my assistance on, such as any questions you wanted to ask the decker, or things you did in between, we will handle in 'flashback' style, if that's ok with you. Actually, we probably need to clarify a point here. My understanding is that after the ill-fated warehouse job for the University, Eyes just disappeared without a trace, only resurfacing later as a corporate employee.

Furthermore, it is my perception that he never offered an explanation to any of the other University members, and especially not to Carla or Angela.

Therefore, from their point of view, (especially Angela’s), Eyes just abandoned them with no reason or explanation, and cut off all ties without a trace. Except for the contact relationship he possess with them, it looks like he just left them suddenly to join the corporate rat race.

The way Angela should be coming across (although I realize it might not be read that way due to a difference in our perspectives of the underlying back-story) is more hurt and questioning than accusatory and trying to hurt/attack Eyes. Given the way I’m seeing the back-story, does that change your reading of the post? And would it change Eyes’s response?

Let’s touch base on this, let me know your perspective on the events, and maybe we can even figure out what really happened (gasp!), before proceeding with the IC stuff, because obviously what actually happened and the characters’ respective perceptions thereof will impact how we proceed.

Exactly right. My setup was basically that Eyes was sent in first, to open up the warehouse for the raiders, and got himself rather extensively worked over. Originally I had it going down with him opening the doors and then getting toasted by a fire spirit, and possibly had his signature read by a sec mage, but really whatever's fine. In the confusion, the heist was pulled off almost better than anyone had hoped; the fire torched much of the warehouse and so noone ever figured out how much was stolen, so the Japs spun it as a botched robbery. He found out later that whoever was scouting had messed up and missed the astral security entirely, but at the time Eyes assumed he had just been set up as a sacrificial distraction.

Shortly afterward, yes, he up and left without telling anyone why, especially Angela as he knew she'd be able to persuade him to stay. Ever since he's been trying to justify the decision to himself. "I don't owe them anything;" "They're just using me;" "Blah blah blah." He pretty much knows it's all sophistry, but isn't going back because he just can't swallow his pride far enough to put up with all the I-told-you-so-s. (EDIT): The guilt he felt over this was mainly why none of his supervisors liked him and were so willing to give him the axe: he was really pushing the whole "reform-from-within" idea, so much that his bosses got sick of him.

He's actually getting a little more defensive here than is really warranted by Angela's question, partly because of Carla's previous open contempt for him, and partly because he not-so-secretly feels guilty for running away. That and one of his 'crazy little ideas' back in college was how Shadowrunners are nothing more than deluded assassains-for-hire, who sell their souls to the highest bidder and think they're 'outside' the corrupt corp system when they're really its main supporters. Sorta a direct conflict with Hollywood's glamourized portrait of them.

So basically yes he's wrong, but for the right reasons? Right for the wrong reasons? Wrong for the wrong reasons? Anyway, the post is fine, and you're right about Angela's motivations.

She obviously has something more on her mind than another roll in the hay, but so far she hasn't done anything to suggest that she's Awakened in any way. Tony is certain that she's more than a simple artist as she suggests, but right now it's looking like she's hiding more of a pedigree than a dark secret. He doesn't recognize her, but it's possible she's some kind of actress or simstar or corporate daughter out looking to experience real life rather than her gilded cage. She certainly has the beauty and the moves to come from a higher social strata.
