CanRay
Excellent... Now, which one to use for Mungo?
DamHawke
It would have to be as l33t as possible.
CanRay
I wish I had been able to kick in enough to get the Editor early...

Poor poor broken CanRay . . he automagically wants to go for the GM Part of the Computer-Game O.o

More interesting: if you pause one of the videos when he's editing the Lone Star character instances, you see a set of attributes (B Q S C I W) that isn't popular in the current edition...
Stahlseele
Nope, SRR is more SR3 than SR4.
Critias
And probably more SR2 than SR3, considering the in-game year. wink.gif
Stahlseele
i've never been good with dates . .

So we're looking at t minus 28 days until release?
Stahlseele
Where'd you get that Number friom?
Critias
I thought it was less than that. Didn't Jordan announce the 24th, in a recent interview?
Stahlseele
Didn't they postpone release? O.o
i admit, i did not keep up with this . .
Bigity
Bah it better be June, I'm going on vacation and need an offline type game to play when I'm tuckered out from fishing and jet skiing.
Blade
The editor is quite neat. Even though they say it's ugly and all, I find it pretty easy to use (for someone with some editing/programming experience at least). It still has some bugs, and many undocumented features but it shows a lot of potential. I've been able to start working on my first adventure, but even though I'd like to be able to release it for the game launch, I doubt I'll have the time to do so.

From the small combat tests I've done, combat seems simple yet fun enough. It's more Fallout 1&2 than JA or XCOM, but as long as it's not the core of the game (and I don't think it will be), that will be fine.

I'm also happy to see that my Laésal got included in the hireable runners. I hope other of my proposals got accepted as well. smile.gif

Epicedion
Any news on this, like something approximating a release date? They haven't updated their blog in awhile. I'm hoping its because they're all busy cramming in a little extra awesomeness.
Stahlseele
Well, theoretically, it could be at the end of this or next month . .
Critias
They're sticking with the "late June" release date, by everything I've seen.
CanRay
"When it's done"? *Ducks*

From the pre-order email I got 2 days ago, they say that they are nearing the launch of the game later this month smile.gif

I honestly hope they do, waiting for SRR is like some unscratcheable itch grinbig.gif

Seriously, the anticipation is killer.

Thank every god possible. That's what makes SR:R exciting.

Though some of the Deviations are . . Troubling to me to say the least . .
DamHawke
In what sense?
Bigity
For me, the mages v shaman thing.

Mages only cast spells, shaman only summon spirits. Really? That's not true to the spirit of old SR at all.

Hit points v SR damage tracks

Stahlseele
Yeah, those mainly.

Is it true that mages only cast spells and shamans only summon spirits? Jake Armitage is historically a Shaman after all, and in the alpha gameplay video he has no summoning but lots of spellcasting.

The Hit Point thing has been explained as functioning pretty much like a damage track, with LMSD all converted into damage points rather than simple boxes. It might be a little quirky, or look off, but should be functionally similar.
Bigity
All the write ups I've seen talk about how mages cast spells and shaman summon spirits. No mention of mages summoning or shaman casting.

Or elementals for that matter that I can remember.
Wounded Ronin
Can hardly wait, hope that it will run on my $100 craptop.
Blade
According to the early version of the game that comes with the level editor, shamans and mages might not have access to the same spell lists and only shamans can summon.
And there are hitpoints.

You can't choose how to spend your combat pool either, and you don't get to roll dices in front of your computer, with your webcam checking how many hits you've got. I have to admit I don't care they don't strictly respect the mechanism, as long as they keep the spirit and atmopshere intact.
DamHawke
I can live with hitpoints. Mechanically it's a lot easier to code methinks.

Not so keen on the magey restrictions though, honestly.
Darksong
I am a bit opposed to the mage/shaman dichotomy also, but you could roll up a character with both mage and shaman skills who could summon and cast all spells.

So there's that I suppose?
Stahlseele
i think you can't roll a character like that actually . .
Darksong
unless something has changed very recently, you can. I believe it was confirmed on their forums (which I can't access due to a work filter sadly)
Bigity
You are pretty much stuck with the archetypes they've set up.

No idea if the level builder tools will let someone change that.
Darksong
it's a classless system, so you can start out as a mage and pick up shaman skills later (or start out as a mundane and pick up both later I'd imagine)
Bigity
Hm I didn't think you could grab other abilities unique to the other archtypes, but that would be something at least.
DamHawke
July 25! confirmed! http://harebrained-schemes.com/?p=3233&preview=true

Or July 24th if you are a backer.
Stahlseele
that's . . a wednesday/thursday . .
i might have to call in sick maybe <.<

While backers will have their keys on the 24th, the game won't be activated until the 25th. So it will definitivly be on the thursday Stahlseele. wink.gif
But hey, pre-download is cool nontheless.
Wounded Ronin
I might have to buy a better laptop to really enjoy.

Freaking A. A month later. Oh well.
DamHawke
One extra month is still preferable to say, an ambiguous Fall 2014 release date wink.gif
Ruby
I just hope they don't take that date back & push it back further frown.gif (At least I have Borderlands and a couple SR/D&D campaigns to keep me busy until then)

the upcoming phone-home to start the game feature of Shadowrun Returns.

What's this what's this? I admit to not keeping up with SR:R news very closely...
Darksong
Not sure what he's talking about. Maybe the fact that it's being released on Steam? Although I think they've said that they will provide DRM-free copies to backers, and have given backers refunds who are vehemently opposed to the Steam distribution.

Apparently we might be treated to some Harlequin in SRR:
