Shouldn't the steam one play fine without an internet connection? Pretty much everything else does.

once it's installed, yes.
DamHawke
I can't even get into the HBS site for the extra loots, let alone download off steam. Yep, SRR killed the internets.

This is why the rest of the world doesn't like you German folk. Such a superiority complex. Didn't that cause you guys some serious problems a while back? biggrin.gif

Pity beating my line with a cane won't make it any faster grinbig.gif I'm paying way too much for curdled syrup speed SEA internets =\

Drop Bears............

Those things are such pests. Do you have any idea how hard they make it to take your girlfriend on a romantic walk through the park?
Particularly if you're allergic to Vegimite behind the ears?

Wouldn't the several viral diseases and the horrible mess of blackened claws and fangs be worse?
Then again... Australians are probably used to everything trying to kill them constantly...
Remnar
They do eat Vegimite, which tried to kill me the one time I tried.
Draco18s
Vegimite is basically the down-under version of marmite, which is essentially axle grease.

Why anyone would eat it is beyond me.

Yup. Snakes, spiders, drop bears, sharks, octopuses (blue-ringed, natch), jellyfish, ants, bunyups, pissed-off kangeroos...
You want to know one of the most dangerous, though? Wombats. Cute, cuddly, built like a brick on legs. Hit one of those at high speeds and I guarantee you that your car is coming off the worst for the exchange.
Then it'll get up, maul you and wander away. Also, square poop. not even kidding.

EDIT: hence the term 'Combat Wombat'

So I played a bit of the default campaign. Awesome stuff. I'm loving the combat system & the layout. My only major gripe is the lack of a "save any time" feature. Saves can only occur at checkpoints. Beyond that, this is the most awesomest game I have played in a while.

I take it you've never tried AussieMite then?

Honestly, I can think of other recent games with the lack of a 'save at any time' feature. Dead Space, for one.
I'm not sure it's a good idea for Shadowrun, but for a survival horror it was actually really good at ramping up the tension.

Given that I am a 'Murrican and have only been in the same house as marmite due to having a British uncle, no. I have not.

That Call of Cthulhu game that was out years back that the little "safe zones" where you could save, and get less insane. Loved it.

Vegimite was ... salty axle-grease that tries to strangle you as it goes down. If that helps.

From an, ahem, American perspective.

Well, where I'm at I only really have Grizzlies and Moose that want to kill me (that and -40 degree, not counting wind, winters).

Also, the Rabid Wombat was probably my favorite card in my Magic The Gathering days.

Holy crap its going to take adjusting to starting out with like..a third of the stats/skills I should have biggrin.gif

I just ran into someone preaching about how good the Universal Brotherhood has been to him.

I want to find the devs and hug the shit out of them. This game is, so far, exactly what I wanted when I bought in.

Seriously, 2050's is my absolute favorite SR time period. None of the later 'big reveals' have been as straight-up nasty as the UB.

Its definately one of my favorites. Though I think Headhunters is my overall favorite. I recently read Fade to Black for the first time, and that was quite good as well.

They need to hurry up and release new novels so I can give them more of my money.

They made a reference to you in the new Shadowrun PC game. Almost didn't get it.

I'm loving the game so far. It felt a bit handicapped coming out of chargen, but I got me a bit of chrome. Only issue now is why the fuck I can't find an arms dealer who'll sell me a goddamn Predator. Or a Warhawk.
TomDowd
So I've been hearing - I'm going to start playing tonight once I get home. I'm a little afraid of what that "reference" might be... wink.gif

Just finished character creator and only in the apartment, and already I like it. "Your computer. State of the art in 2050. Broken since 2051."

80% downloaded. I might get to finish character creation before I have to go back to work.

Gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOOONG afternoon.

Love hearing the stories of people encountering my character in-game (apparently I'm Eric the clothing vendor)

I hope I give myself some good deals...

...am I going to create a team paradox by killing the Halloweener leader?

No?

Tom, if you need any advice on military stuff in Shadowrun hit me up (former Marine logistician) lol smile.gif

I haven't bought the game yet (maybe tonight), but does anyone know how good straight magic is? Most of the videos and lets play shows a lot of shooting.
Stahlseele
/me is thinking shadowdragon8685 might hav figured out the story

Had the game all afternoon. Steam crashes on me every fifteen minutes. This game desperately needs a non-Steam variant for those of us who didn't back the kickstarter, or it needs a Quick Save. If I go through the opening combat again, I'm probably going to give up on the game entirely.

Put your Steam in offline mode. Profit.

At first I thought it was Findley. Awesome stuff.

Damnit. I liked Sam Watts. Sad comm message was sad.

Managed to get a character created and get through the intro stuff before heading back to work. So far I really like what I see. I hope there are random things I can hack for cash so I can use my Deckerness enough.
