Shadow
We are down working on the winches. I was posting that as a player not a character. You and me are off hauling chains and crap.

Grenades? Nah, I'll just fire my ExII rounds from my sniper riffle at the nearest purple pipe....
Leowulf
What is JP-8?
Tziluthi
Good question.
Shadow
JP - 8

is the millitary designation for a specific kind of fuel. See regular gasoline doesn't cut it in aircraft and a lot of large equipments. So the millitarty invented jet fuel and other kinds. JP-5 is what I used to put in my truck when I was in the army. JP-8 is Aviation Turbine Fuel. Very, very, very volatile. And very Toxic. Exposure to this stuff will kill you, so don't go breathing it in if you can help it.
Leowulf
Like how much would it take to kill someone if they were just inhaling the fumes? A quick whiff? A deep breath? A few minutes of exposure with normal breathing? How does the military protect its personnel from exposure?
grendel
The military uses a series of identifcation cards for each hazardous material it is required to handle. These safety packets are called MSDS cards, or Material Safety Data Sheets. The one for JP-8 is available on the web at www.cpchem.com/MSDS/fuels/performance/JP8AVIATIONTURBINEFUEL.pdf. It lists the dangers associated with JP-8, along with the proper protective wear required, as well as actions to take in case of a spill or accidental exposure.

The naval command specifcially charged with ensuring the safety of sailors is the Naval Occupational Safety and Health command, or NAVOSH. Every naval activity is required to undergo an annual NAVOSH inspection in order to ensure compliance with all safety directives.
Fenris
Grendel, did I miss something, or was there nothing else to say about my jacking into the INTREPID?
Leowulf
Based on the MSDS, I'm guessing that exposure to JP-8 almost always causes injury of some kind, and that exposure for more than a few minutes to fumes is usually fatal, as is momentary exposure to a concentrated amount. I noted how the MSDS said to seek medical attention, like they usually do, and how it also said to provide oxygen to the exposed individual. Now I have a better idea of how dangerous it is. Scary. indifferent.gif
grendel
INTREPID's systems are necessarily more advanced than the smaller vessels that you're used to, but fundamentally they're the same. You didn't find anything unusual or suspect in the system.
Tziluthi
Is Meryth with Ichiro and Os at the moment?
Shadow
Oh I get it, it isn't whos the first to arrive, it's who is left standing when the gun battle is over.

Is Downtown on the BP?
Leowulf
Sam follows Jeff. That seemed too short for an in-character post. smile.gif
Shadow
Ok I am going to assume DT is on the BP. He will carry the following gear on him.

Colt Manhunter w/laser sight 16© 9M 2.5kg
4 Clips of BAL Rounds
Silencer
Bayonet(Dikote) Str+1(M) .5kg
1 suit of Form Fitting Body armor 4/1 1.25kg
1 Camouflaged Full Suit 5/3 Negligible Weight
Combat Boots (jungle) 1kg
1 Flash grenade .5kg
Combat web / bandolier

He is hoping the armory might have an extra assualt riffle, and HK or AK, maybe a AA grinbig.gif
Shadow
Any RC on the riffle besides what comes with it? (+1 for a rigid stock I belive).
grendel
Shock pads and a gas vent 4.
Shadow
Oh Danny is loving that. I am assuming he was one of the guys who is going to "pacify" the engine room?

Oh and what was the acronym you used for how we are getting over there?
grendel
RHIB: rigid hull inflatable boat
Tziluthi

How far away is the other ship? What is the weather like? What is the visibility?

How far away is the other ship? What is the weather like? What is the visibility?

Also, what are ROE? Did they tell us?

Downtown is going to be crouched as low as he can in the boat, with his head facing the front (he is wearing the green bandana over his head). When they get close enough he is going to do a detailed look at the ship for crew or lookouts.
grendel
The weather is cold and clear, just above 12C, winds out of the northwest at eighteen knots. Visibility is easily twelve kilometers. The swells are rough, though, three to four meters, with the occasional five. No ROE has been discussed.
grendel
I need athletics rolls from everyone going up the grappling line.
Shadow
For Downtowns turn,

Street Wyze
Ichiro has to default to body because he doesn't have athletics.

10, 05, 04, 03, 02
Leowulf
Default to Body for Sam. He has a Body of 10 if you count his dermal armor.

5, 1, 3, 5, 1, 1, 2, 4, 3, (3)
grendel
Hmm. You might want to spend a karma on that roll, since with the -4 penalty for defaulting to an attribute Sam's highest is a 1. smile.gif
Shadow
Perception check for onboard

08 01 01 09

In his post it implies he has enhanced sight and hearing, when in actuality he only has enhanced smell. His sight mods are flash suppressor, and his hearing mods is sound dampening.
Leowulf
Hmm. Well, that certainly sucks ass. I'll reroll at a cost of 1 karma:

5. Damn.

Guess he's taking a swim.

Quickness test to avoid completely falling off? spin.gif
grendel
Sam needs to resist 8M impact damage.
Leowulf
8M becomes 4M due to Sam's impact armor rating of 4.

Damage resistance test, Body (TN 4): 2, 1, 3, 3, 13, 3, 11, 2, 4, 5

With 4 successes, Sam takes no damage - luckily.

Let's try that again.

Defaulting to Body (TN 8?): 2, 4, 2, 3, 4, 11, 3, 11, 15, 5

That nets 3 successes right? Does Sam make it up this time?
Street Wyze
Ichiro Stealth Roll

01, 10, 04
Shadow
Downtowns Stealth roll.

04 01 04 05 02 03 10 01 01 17
Leowulf
Sam will default to Quickness for Stealth.

Rolls: 3, 3, 4, 2, 2

I'll reroll at the next junction.
Tziluthi
Well, while we're at it.

Os for Steath: 8, 4, 2, 3, 1, 1
Shadow
Are we waiting on someone?
grendel
The gamemaster. I've been busy prepping runs for GenCon SoCal. Sit tight until next week and I'll turn the burners back on. smile.gif
Shadow
No prob Grendel.
Tziluthi
Os is switching on his low-light vision, thermographics and wired reflexes.
Tziluthi
Os makes a sweep of the room to check for anyone who might be hiding.

Intelligence roll with stealth for complimentry dice, right?

Int roll: 14, 11, 5, 4, 1

Complimentry stealth roll: 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 2
grendel
Os does not see anyone hiding in the room, nor is there anyone approaching down either passageway.
Tziluthi
Hey, are we still playing?
grendel
I am. And you are. And Shadow is. I could probably track Fenris down as well. But that's about it. smile.gif
Cheese Emperor
Yay for checking the topic out when new players may be needed. I could whip something up if you need a slot filled.
Tziluthi

Street Wyze and Leowulf seemed to have shown a bit of interest lately as well, but I don't think Morgannah has posted since late October.

Oh well. frown.gif
Leowulf
Yeah, I'm still here.
Fenris
I'm here.
Tziluthi
Well, to paraphrase Meatloaf, four out of six ain't bad. smile.gif

Are we going to keep on going, Grendel?
Shadow
I say we just continue as is.
Tziluthi
Sounds good to me.
