i think it would be too powerful for illusion spells to fool mages also. otherwise, i could cast imp. invis. and noone would ever see me. |
Well, noone here is suggesting making illusions fool mages or not in general. At this point it's bssically about wether a test is required to be fooled by the illusion, and the extent to witch the illusion spells aura is noticable.
The thing about improved invis is that it's Type: P so cannot create an effect on the Astral.
I think it's a little overpowered to say that any mage with any assensing skill is automatically immune to illusions while astrally perceiving, not to mention unsupported.

is it all that overpowered though? astral perception is only available to mages (or adepts that pay heavily for it). and assensing is another skill that mages have to purchase. in my opinion mages are strapped for BPs from the very beginning. sure i give my mages the skill but only usually at 3 or 4. and with an intuition of 3 or 4, they will, on average, assense the spell for what it is. but not always.
if you want to change the aura of a spell (and thus dupe other mages) you should get masking and extended masking early in character development.
you fight magic with magic. that's why it is so important to have a mage in your group. and mages are very valuable for security porposes in sr.
we can disagree on fine points of the rules. you can run your game however you choose.
all that i am saying is that i agree with the points that a successful assensing check (2 successes) will allow a mage to realize that the aura he is perceiving is iin fact an illusion spell. it does not negate the illusion
