Characters get INT*1.5 language points free. There's no "free first language", just those points (arguably free, but only as free as knowledge skill points) which can be used for any language.

~J, fighting the ignorance that NSRCG seems to breed
Lilt
NSRCG is screwy. Check my ammendum to my last post about the different models question.
Utahraptor
I want to know how you got the stats in question. Didn't know you could subsitiue fuel for load and CF.

I was simply going to ask if I could subsitie 2 armor points for a Microturrent, which are cost-equvaliuent, and maybe add a rear door, since it is a differeny model.

I am wary of putting fuel load down. 100l may mean 60 regualr km., but the econ rate goes up by 2 in combat.
Lilt
OK. The E and T variants both have MANY bucket seats (11 and 14 respectively. Stripping these out using the rules in the seats section (P153 on my, non revised, version) we find that each one removed increases load by 100KGs and cargo space by 6CF. Next we add 4 bench seats at 150kg and 6CF each that can carry 2 passengers (at 750 nuyen.gif each). Alittle bit of addition, subtraction, and multiplication gets those numbers for T and E models with 1 bucket seat (for you) and 4 bench seats (for us). Seem OK?

[edit]I also edited my previous post, adding stuff about the T model.[/edit]
Utahraptor
Sounds okay, let me just go over the numbers in a slighlty different way. This is safer, I think. I'll be using the T.

I'll keep two buckets up front, because removing a seat in the cockpit requires you to remake the cockpit. subtracting 1200 load and 72 CF for the remaing buckets, we get 1700 Load, and 79 CF. Now, the benches say they can carry 200 Kilos, which is what I'm going with. So four benches at 6 CF and 200 LOad a piece will bring us down to 900 Load and 55 CF. Then add 5 point of armor, and we get 375 Load and 55 CF. That should be enough to mount any turrent, door mount, etc. we need. Remember, the average human wieghes 70 Kg. Eleves 72, and dwarves 54, so the seat should hold you and your gear well. If we have any orks or trolls, I'd like to know so that I can adjust. I also have to find how much the seats are worth.

EDIT: Have you noticed the models don't seem to add up? smile.gif
EDIT2: I have to find the amount of money the bucket seats we are removing are worth. might allow us to put the benches in free.
EDIT3: As for an extra door, a ramp at the back would be nice.
Kagetenshi
Which leaves us with what in terms of range?

~J

Edit: don't add up how? As for trollishness, I'm a dandelion eater, so no problem there.
Utahraptor
Uhhh.......

I alyways asssume that the load factor already hae a full tank of fuel factored in. If it's different, please tell me so that I may stop making a horse's ass out of my self.

Edit: It just doesn't appear that way to me. I set up the same stats for both the T and C, and the T gives me more load and CF.
moosegod
I'm a human who looks like an elf and hates it.
Kagetenshi
Oh, I'm pretty sure it does include a full tank. It's just that we've been talking about all sorts of different modifications to fuel, adding them, leaving them off, etc. and I wanted to see where the latest revision got us.

~J
Lilt
Yes, for some odd reason bench seats only take effectively 150kg load but can carry 200kg.

Turret-wise I'd go for a nose-mounted pop-up Microturret (10KG) with a Rifle (possibly Sniper Rifle if you can, sporting or assault rifle if you can't) and a small ammo bin. You could even mount a coupple of door guns, I'd be wary that a rear-facing door gun would expose everyone in the vehicle to incoming fire from the rear though...

The fuel weight consideration is an odd one. By the rules there is nothing that says it counts against load (1600L would weigh far more than 100kg yet the C model works like that). Also check the rules for optimo fuel (p75, R3). It could give us extra range if we need it..

[edit] you could just make the thing bristle with 5 remote pop-up microturrets biggrin.gif[/edit]
moosegod
I am on AIM, so if you need to chat...
Utahraptor
hey, I haven'y found how I'm going to pay for all this yet. I might remove the Bison, and buy a bulldog for a command vechicle, then upgrade later. Remember, a door gun takes 16 CF to operate, And I see only one palce to put said door gun.

AS for more fuel, the only way I can add fuel the way I see is Through external missle mounts and drop tanks. That would give the vechicle 2140 Km max range, which would be enough to tranvel the gulf, I bleieve. THat would cost a preetty penny, too.
Utahraptor

someone want to set up an AIM room?

Okay hopefully you should have my character sheet now Sphynx if not post me and I'll mail it again. Sorry about dumping all the adding up on you but I should be under cost *8-<

Thanks again and have fun
HelperMonkey
WOO-HOO! I'm finalized! Hey I was wondering if I could draw up a sheet and background for my character's Enemy. I think it would be fun to do and would add some detail to the story should he happen to show up on the campaign. It might also be able to help explain how my character wound up traveling with the merc group. If so what would be a good starting BP for an Enemy with a Power 3 rating?
Lilt
The one possible problem I can see about that vehicle is the lack of Recoil Compensation on the HVAR-Totting tiny turret. The maximum level (rating 4) would take 1CF, 28kg, and 2k nuyen.gif . With the 3 integral compensation on the HVAR that gives you 7 RC, enough for a 15 round (27D) full-auto shot or two 6-round bursts (at 12D each) without TN mods from recoil. eek.gif

Just a thought smile.gif
Kagetenshi
I'm just tweaking a few minor details and (more importantly) making my second contact. I'll have it in soon.

gotta love the halving of recoil on turrets *8-> I wish I could get that for a runner.... hmmmm, minigun anyone? hehe

Just apply the vehicle rules for Trolls at a quarter their body.

What seems to be the issue with the Sperethiel phobia, Sphynx?

I was trying to think of something "elfy" that wasn't an elf.
Sphynx
Couple problems (thought I emailed it to you).

1) You don't know what Sperethiel is, you don't have the language.
2) Removal of Spotlight and un-neccesary splitting up of the team since Sperethial is a player-used language and phobia taken will incapacitate the character completely.
3) Phobia of a language seems.... wrong. You fall down and quiver incontrollably, or run away in a death-fear if you hear so much as a word (and fail the WP roll, which, even with a WP of 7 is 25% of the time).

capt20
Sphinx, Sorry I havn't emailed you. Been busy. As for your comments:

He is a true believer of Democracy, Liberty, and most importantly, the Geneva convention. It'll be /hard/ for him to do anything that violates his "code".

I am removing that cyberware, as we speak.

I sent a background one of those times, but you must have not received it. I will send it again.
Kagetenshi
Doesn't the Geneva Convention outlaw the use of shotgun slugs in war?

~J
capt20
Well, not those rules. Actually, it be the Hauge convention. Basicly, killing civilians, prisoners and the like. He would go out of his way to help a civilian. /Way/ out of his way.
moosegod
Get on the server, capt.
HelperMonkey
What is this True Believer "Flaw?" Forgive me if I'm jumping the gun here but it sounds like it might be a load of bunk. If your character has a code of ethics and will refuse to do certain things or take on certain kinds of jobs then that is something that should be written into the background and played out in game but to take it as a flaw just for some easy BP just doesn't make sense really.

I mean what is the possible disadvantage a character might have just for being passionate about something? Now if you took the impulsive flaw or vindictive flaw and incorporated that into your characters system of beliefs that would make a lot more sense. Such as if he saw another PC or NPC violating some aspect of the Geneva or Hauge convention he'd be compelled (maybe failing a willpower test or something) to reprimand that character perhaps even kill him. Now that would be a serious disadvantage to a mercenary who might be traveling with a people more than willing to slap around a few civies for some supplies or information. It could even result in the whole group turning on your character. THAT'S WHAT I CALL A FLAW!
Kagetenshi
It's an NSRCG thing. Another reason why I dislike it.

~J
capt20
Its actually an SR Comp thing. smile.gif
Cheese Emperor
That's not really in the spirit of the True Believer flaw, from my view anyways. It'd be better described as a code of honor or some such crock. True Believer is more or less belonging to something like the UB and believing in it with all your heart and soul and the like.
moosegod
It implies devotion to a specific cause. It seems like that cause is supposed to have a "leader" of some type as well.
Kagetenshi
QUOTE (capt20)

No, no it isn't. No such flaw anywhere in SRComp.
Maybe in a previous edition.

[QUOTE]

While someone who believed heart and soul in the UB would definitely be flawed, I really don't see how that would be a Flaw in game terms. How could it possibly affect a game? I mean a character who is a religious zealot or a diehard patriot or a goose stepping nazi or a bleeding-heart human rights advocate are all great ideas for backgrounds and should definitely affect how you play the character I just don't see how this can be seen as a flaw in game terms. SRC flaws are aspects of your character that you as a player surrender control of.

For example, I might not want my character to go jumping into a fight against impossible odds and if he took the time to think about it he wouldn't either. TS. When I created him I made him Impulsive and took it as a flaw. Now when faced with this hopeless fight my character may become a slave to his passions and go running into it without thinking through the whole thing first and possibly get killed.

Do I want him to jump into the fight and possibly get killed? No I want him to live and if I could decide everything he does I would have him running at full speed away from there but I surrendered an element of control over my character and it's now up to luck to see if my character jumps into the fight not me.
Lilt
Well: Think of how someone with True Believer(Yucatan Independance) would work in SR. It's not just an "I won't do anything to harm the yucatan independance plight", it's an "I will always aid the yucatan independance plight if I can". If there was a call for arms by a percieved authority figure, you would probably feel compelled to go, and that's only if you left the front lines already. Think of it like a high-grade compulsions flaw that can fit-in easily with some backgrounds.
HelperMonkey
Yes but that would still be something that the player would have control of. It would be something that you could build a campaign around but would probably not affect a run directly. The runner would be passionate but not neccisarily compulsive.
Lilt
Buying it as a flaw means that it's something the player does not have control of. I can't buy the dual natured flaw and occationally turn-off my dual nature, so why should someone who buys the True Believer flaw have such an option? I'd make it a willpower test at-least, maybe even a 1-pt karma loss every time they go against their beliefs. The character's beliefs dictate what the character sees to be the most important, so you'd probably need to have a good reason for going against them.

Also: when on sphynx's board some people have not been quitting properly. You need to type quit or it dosen't remove you properly.
Sphynx
I'm treating True Believer as the 3 point Compulsive flaw. If you are not willing to play a right-winged, die for your belief and kill those who would blaspheme against it, you don't get the flaw points.

Also: I'll fix it so you don't have to 'quit'. wink.gif

Hey you guys full, or what? It looks like there's one seat left but I think I lost count.
Kagetenshi
On a side note, I turned in my final character (awaiting Sphynx' comments and approval) last night/this morning.
And yes, I did end up keeping the "useless" cyberware. It fit the character, and I can afford to take another geas later.

I haven't been all that active on this board either, but I've sent a character in too and I'm awaiting judgement. We'll see... wink.gif
