That's the kinda questioning that can only be answerd in-game. What you 'will have' will be determined by player action and storyline. So, it's best to assume you won't get anything and are being hired for what you already have.

I hope you think asking questions is a sign of intelligence, because I like to ask.

Could a character be played as a member of a countries military sent to assist this merc group, In an offical or unoffical capcitate?
Utahraptor
Dec 2 2003, 07:45 PM
And will you use Cyber/bioware stress?
Sphynx
Dec 2 2003, 07:54 PM
How you build your background is primarily up to you, it'll be on an individual basis that decisions are made. Regardless of if your background implies you are 'sent' or not, your purchases at char-gen will cover what you can start with, you won't gain additional resources from outside your starting resources.
As for bioware/cyberware stress, it will occur, but not as often as Canon would have it. I check for stress when I feel you took too much damage, but how I do it is based on the moment, not on rolls against pre-existing charts.

Sphynx
Dec 2 2003, 08:44 PM
And will you allow People to go over the racial unmodifed maxium in CG? Not with attribute points. Canon states at most 6 points per attribute at char-gen, and before you ask, the 60 point recommendation is in effect.

Can you go over usiing an Edge, and, I'll have to ask, What the hell is the sixty point Recomendation?
Sphynx
Dec 2 2003, 08:59 PM
If you use both the Exceptional Attribute and Bonus Attribute, then by Canon, you can exceed racial max.
60 points is the most number of BPs you can put in attributes (30 attribute point total).

Just an FYI, so far we have a few (100%) military-level characters, and not a bit of magic/rigging/etc. Although I said it'd be a Merc game, I kinda hope to see a couple of mages, adepts, etc. I'm ok with it being an all 'soldier' team, but feel free to play the empty spots as well.

and don't feel obligated to play a soldier or ex-soldier (we have plenty of those). Just make sure you give reason as to why whatever character you make would make a good member to a merc team. A Street Sam or Tribal Shaman or Combat Adept would all have reasonable skills to perfect a team.

5 BP to be a changeling.
Flamethrower will fall under Heavy Weapons here.

Character sheet is complete. The backstory is still in the works - turned out to be longer than I had anticipated. I'll be lucky if it falls under 10 pages. Unfortunately, character development is addictive.

In any case, I might or might not be able to finish up the entire background in time for the deadline, so tell me if you want the character sheet first to make sure there are no problems. Since there's still over a week before this ends, I'm reasonably certain that I'll be able to get the entire package to you in time regardless.

Just to let you know, I'll be a bit slow to get stuff done, as I'm currently in the process of withdrawing from my current college and probably will have to schlepp my stuff back halfway across the country within the next week. Still hoping to get the character finalized properly, though.

I need some clarification in the House Rules. Does the vechicle damge rules apply, I.E. Weapons reducing power by half rounded down and staging down damage by one level. I know vechicle Armor isn't hardened.

Yes, so a 9M vs a Body: 5 Armour: 4, would resist 2L with 5 dice.
Burst Fire 7S going to 10D would drop the resist to 2D (5S-4Armour, min of 2) with 5 dice. Staging of damage happens before resisting damage (the resolving of tests is a driving test vs the firearms test), so a 9M pistol with 4 net successes over the driver would be doing 2S in this example (guaranteed to do light damage).

did somebody say something about a combat shaman? That's exactly what I've been working on this week. I suppose we could have two. Mine could use a mentor.

Dec 4 2003, 03:52 PM
Is there still room for a mage? I'd quite like to make a magical character (spellslinger & conjurer capable of summoning both spirits and elementals) using that alternative BP system. He's an elven leopard shaman with a strong 'Force of nature' feel about him.

Dec 4 2003, 05:13 PM
Also: What form of group are we? Are we an established team (who often pool resources such as vehicles) or are we newlymets who don't trust eachother as far as we can throw us.
Sphynx
Dec 4 2003, 05:29 PM
I run a very magical level of campaign, so there's always room for a spell slinger or spirit type.
As I get characters, I will work each of you into each other's backgrounds. You'll all know of each other before hand, and all be connected somehow, though this will be your first 'mission' as a team.

Yeah, I am. I'm not quite sure of a totem yet, however. So far, I'm going for Wise Warrior or Sky Father.
Actually, I think I'll do Sky Father. That could work well in the "mentoring" role.

A question on Routers I might as well ask everyone. Does the router have to be coneccted to a datajack port, and does the Router have it's starting port?

Cultured Bioware is allowed.

UR- The router comes with a "free" port that goes to the brain. You can tack ten more ports on it, and you need one to go to a datajack if you plan to hook it up to other 'ware.

What vehicles do the group have? I'm running quite short on cash (every point I put into cash effectively removes 1 skill point) and I doubt I could afford a van to carry all of my stuff, let alone armouring it like a good mercenary van should be.
I could afford to chip in a bit for my usage of the van to carry conjuring materials (& so on) if that helps. Also: Are other beople taking the Talismongering skill?

I'm bringing a Bison and a SK-2. AS long as your gear doesn't take up 20 CF, we'll be fine.
