Well, you're both welcome to turn in character sheets to me, but I can't guarantee you'll be able to show up at the first game on Jan 4th as I'm already pushing my limit to get the character sheets done in time for the server. However, since I intend to break the game into 2 games after a bit, I don't think it'd be a huge problem if you don't mind missing the first couple of games.

PS. AFK until the 29th ish. Holidays and all. Those of you playing, be logged onto the telnet site I gave on January 4th, 7PM GMT.

Ok gentle dudes.
Time's up, characters are set and in motion. What I want now is for everyone to RESEND their finalized character sheet WITHOUT a background this time. <snip> Please use this as your Subject Line "My Character Sheet"
Secondly, please email me also a description of your character. Exactly what you would describe yourself as if you were sitting an a group and asked to describe your character to the rest of the group. Please use this as your Subject Line "My Character Description" |

Has the game started? I'm thinking of a Mage who wants to try and take down a blood mage after his parents were killed by one. Preferably alive, so he can take them to the Draco Foundation (And the cleaners!).

For people who missed it: The games are now on at 5pm GMT on Sundays on Sphynx's telnet site (193.95.168.3, port 5000). The next session will be on Sunday the 1st of Febuary.
Also Sphynx: You may want to put your house-rules regarding most spirits not having dice pools on your house-rules site. Also, as a point for the future, do great-form spirits also not have access to pools?

Also, what all happened yesterday?

Jan 26 2004, 06:03 PM
Sphynx thought he lived in GMT, he lives in GMT+1. When he said 6PM GMT he meant 5PM GMT.
Last session was primarily the flight of the astral forms, we ambushed the adepts (who were all perceiving) with 20+ spirits, killing them all, and the shaman is now unconscious (and may have lost a point of magic) after he attempted to banish a force 9 sea spirit. The ship is now being held virtually immobile in the water now by the aforementioned spirit and all of the awakened characters on-board are either unconscious or dead.
There was also our brief encounter with Ghostwalker, who may or may not have been the ninja(s), who may or may not have existed.

..........................................................I'm starting to think that missing sessions will increase my character's overall well-being...
Well, no matter. Anything left for my character to help out with next week, or did Diarmuid just lose track of time while summoning things?
~J

Jan 26 2004, 06:36 PM
I think he lost track of time. Rheiv and Kalinn turned-up at the end so it's entierly possible you got a lift with them but I don't know exactly what premises they are under for being there, it may not be feasable for you to be with them, I'd talk to Sphynx about that.
You could just have levitated out and arrived at about the same time. That's the other option.
Lilt
Jan 26 2004, 08:36 PM
Ack: Sorry. In response to the "Anything left for my character to help out with next week[?]" bit: Yes, there's still a full mundane complement of crew on-board including the guy with the quickened tatoos covering his body.
The shaman (who was at-least a 2nd grade initiate by my count) will also need to be taken-out in a more permanent manner. Although he would have taken deadly stun, I strongly suspect he has a TD as he summoned a force 6 spirit without noticeable modifiers for drain. Thankfully he's now being confused by the same force 9 sea spirit that's slowing the boat so I doubt he'll be doing much soon. +9 to all TNs and a Will(9) test to do anything on-top-of serious stun is not conductive towards having a nice day.

Ok, game's going nicely, and I've decided to award everyone an even 8 Karma for the past 4 games.
Also, since alot of people have shown up late, or missed some games, thought I'd re-itterate the commraderie between people.

As of the start of the last game, you are Runners, all of you. Some of you are 'legalized' Runners in that your Gov't has opted to use some of their best military personnel to create specialty teams in the Corp Wars. Most of you are under no real obligation to the gov't, but have agreed to work with (not under) them in exchange for other services (such as getting you out of prison). Others are in it for the fun (and a chance at some cash) of it. All of you have worked as a team for a good 6 months before we did out first trial run that we've just completed. You are use to having a leader that can give you assignments to get the job done, that person being Rhiev of course. You are use to working as a team, but you are not military (no standing in formation, at attention, saluting, etc, unless you choose to do so as your character)
Just clearing up alot of questions which popped up at the last game. Hope that helps.

So how acceptible was doing this run for the mafia to us? Have we ever done runs for other corps or similar organised crime groups before? Do we do them often? How well does it fit in the "Working With" the government thing we're supposed to be doing?
IE: Could Rheiv really bitch if we collected our mafia pay (60k

) through Deadeye? (Deadeye = Ghostfire's Fixer, the one who got us the job)
Kagetenshi
Feb 23 2004, 06:47 PM
He couldn't bitch anyway. Us not collecting our pay means more money for the mafia

Though he may try insisting we donate it to charity or somesuch, I don't think he could really enforce it...

I'd like to point out a couple things. One, even though we are not a military unit, unit cohesion must be mantained with merc and even runner teams. Sure, there won't be any D&C, and no one will be yelling out "YES SIR!" at the top of their lungs while standing at the postion of attention, but the rule of those in charge must be accepted as law, unless he's asking you to do something tottally insane, like burn good nuyen, or shoot a fellow teammate 'just beacause'.

Now, that being said, I'd like to write down what I think the stutcure of the merc unit is. Again, we ain't military, but good unit cohesion is needed to be successful.
Commander: Rhiev
NCOIC, Mundanes: Strife
NCOIC, Mages: Jupe
Vech Spec: Kalinn
This means that Rheiv is the overall commander, and the teams are split up into mundanes and mages for administratvie purposes. I am somewhat of a specialist, and there fore under Rheiv directly, and command anyone who might be assigned to assit me in my duties.
And third, Of course Rheiv will let you keep the money. He doesn't like the mob, but that dislike is outwhighed by all the stuff we need.

Questions, Comments?
Kagetenshi

And, as I said, us not collecting our pay only helps the mob.

Hector doesn't have much of a problem with there being a command structure - however, he is a fish outta water in some respects, more than just his social ineptitude, so expect compliance in life or death situations, but don't e suprised if other commands are carried out creatively
on a diff note - we have KARMA - we should talk about setting up a magic group - lay down your ideas on what you want and how you think it should be - we have at least four people, yes? hector, primal, jeger, diarmuid - am i missing anybody in this? Looks like we will have at least a TN of 16 to try and decrease with strictures, also remember that in Sphynx's ruleset a 16 isnt 6,6,4 - it is 6,6,6 - and a 12 isnt a 6,6 it is a 6,6,3 - so we will want to get that TN as low as possible, else it may be many months before we can get any advantage from it
be sure to describe more than just a list of strictures, add what flavor you can
Kagetenshi
Feb 25 2004, 04:50 AM
Woahwoahwoahwoahwoah... what is this ruleset with regard to high TNs?
~J
Lilt
Feb 25 2004, 10:48 AM
Wow... I'm (Primal) a NCOIC. Hmm... What does that mean?

I'm assuming that's a seargant style post? I'm not complaining but, IIRC, Jupe was hoping to be a seargant. Also Primal has some character traits that would make him an interesting leader...
[ Spoiler ]
For one, he views this mercenary unit as his pack/family. I'm not sure if I'm going to go as far as saying that Rheiv is Daddy and Strife is Mummy, but it would be interesting. Especially if they do actually show fatherly and motherly tendancies in the group. IIRC Strife is half way there with a slightly softer touch/helping hand approach than Rheiv.

Yes, it'd be nice to get a magical group set-up. I would also like to know what weird TNs sphynx might be throwing at us. I certanly can't see anything on his houserules site. [edit]You are missing one BTW: Jupe is a Sky-Father shaman[/edit]
That said, we might want to see if the dragon we're gonna be working for is able to help-out with our magical group... Sponsor it? help us establish it faster using mystical magical dragon-juju? Of course he might alter how our Oath was gonna read, but I think that's fine and it gives us good cases for Deed ordeals for later initiation.
And people: Don't spend your karma yet! I'm willing to bet that the awakened characters will be willing to trade nuyen for it!

correct me if i am mistaken, Sphynx, the rule he told us he follows is that if you roll a 6 then a 1 - you got a 6. So a 6 and then a 2 = 7. He does this to correct for the Shadowrun vanishing 6 problem. ie that as far as TN are concerned - there is no diff at all between a 6 and a 7, such that if your TN is 6 then you have 1 free point worth of bad modifiers you can add on to your action with zero effect on the probability of the outcome.
Yay, Jupe - sorry I forgot about you. So we have 5 awakened, which will mean 5 dice to toss when trying to establish the link. *cheer*
Kagetenshi
Feb 25 2004, 04:48 PM
Blah. Well, that sends our odds through the floor... never had a problem with the vanishing 7s myself, but then I'm not GMing...
Anyway. Asking Ghostwalker for help might be good, but I'm going to have to bow out if it involves swearing loyalty to him or otherwise binding ourselves to him. I'll deal with a dragon, but I don't want to make it too easy to make that a permanent situation.

Feb 25 2004, 09:44 PM
Hmm. I'm sure that, in the sessions we've had so-far, rolls on TN9 have succeeded with the roll of a 6 and a 3. Here's one from the second session:
| CODE |
Roll your Force of Spirit from being Banished.. Primal has rolled: 5, 5, 3, 4, 4, 3, 4, 5, 6. Sphynx has rolled: 5, 6, 6, 5, 1. Sphynx has rolled: 6, 3. Sphynx says: 3 Sphynx asks: Pressing? You say: Yes Roll your Force of Spirit from being Banished.. Primal has rolled: 5, 2, 2, 4, 4, 4, 4, 1, 1. Sphynx has rolled: 3, 1, 6. |
Notice that the mages's magic drops by 2 rather than 3 which it would have if the 6+3 hadn't been a success. It's not the best example, the mage could have a -1 TN from something, but there's another example where the mage rolled 5s against a force 6 spirit and they didn't count
