Cool. I'm assuming Toast got that karma as well?

If I spent 10 karma on it, I could get Mechanic group 1. Then I'd roll 12 dice on whatever Mechanic checks we need. (Did I mention that Copperhead is absurdly smart?) Right now, I don't think I can spare that much karma. But soon, I may pick up that skill group.

As for the cost of repairing it, isn't it still covered under the Kond-Orchid expense account?

Also, if you need someone to repair the Skytrain, I do believe you guys happen to have your old mechanic as a contact. nyahnyah.gif

Oh, by the way, while making Copperhead, I had the essence leftover to get rating 2 skillwires. I cannot afford any mechanic skillsofts right now, but in the future, that's an easy option. But, of course, for repairing the skytrain, Knives can use Toast's drone's autosoft.

Also, remember that Toast can use his Diagnostics power to roll his rating*2 to assist the repair check - and his power isn't capped by the normal restrictions on teamwork tests.

Right. On it. I guess we submit our write-ups to you (the GM), and you send it in?

That's the general Idea.
merashin
how many have been sent in to you out of our group so far?

Adventure? 3 out of 8.

Advanced Lifestyles? 4 out of 8
Dark Talon
I'm working on mine
merashin
get it done soon, we don't have much time
merashin
do we still have those commlinks that wheels was picking up off enemies? if so what are their ratings
Dark Talon
Yea, I have the stats somewhere. They were Ikons.... I believe 3 in everything, no ECCM

Well, ECCM is a program, not a hardware attribute. Any looted commlinks would have had their System & Firewall upgraded to 6 and 9, respectively. (Doc finished his Firewall 9 program during the month in Neo-Tokyo) And, of course, they can be loaded up with ECCM without a problem. Unfortunately, if they're only response 3, the ECCM won't be all that great - I don't think Doc ever optimized that particular program.

Keep in mind, if you've got Doc as a contact, you can still buy a Response 6, Signal 6 commlink from him for... was it 11k nuyen.gif? nyahnyah.gif

When I get home tonight, I'll see if I have time to post the full list of software Doc had (and is therefore freely available to the party), as well as the list of drones he didn't take with him when he left.
merashin
my final question about them is, may i have one?
Poit-Narf
If there is indeed a stack of such commlinks laying around for group use, I'd like to grab a couple.
Rad
Crap, we have to get both in by today?

>swears profusely in Or'Zet<

I'll try...

...given the size of our group and that bit about not getting into flame wars on Dumpshock, maybe you should just leave me out if enough of us get done in time, and just send those in. Still, I'd like to be a part of this if I can manage...

No, it got cleared up on the Thread.

Due today is a "statement of interest" email to info@shadowrun4.com saying "Pick me! Pick me!" (just kidding, you should email the information we've already stated we want).

For those who have already emailed their 'statement of interest' should have recieved an email reply from me with the next step in the process. This would be the "audition" step, and is due by March 10th.

merashin
so tom, do we have that stack of commlinks just lying around, or did wheels take them all with him?

Doc certainly didn't take those. He only took things he bought himself, with one exception (the Evo Orderly with a sniper rifle, just because).

May I ask what's advance lifestyle?

Sent my reviews. Guess we'll see if we get it or not. I'll try to stay away from Cain if we do, haha.

Heh, me being a role-model--how do I get myself into this drek? biggrin.gif

Well, now I can get back to work on finishing that character survey and working out the next upgrade to Johnny's 'ware.
Dark Talon
Alright, I've got mitch's and i'll try to finish up mine today anyways.

Just gotta make sure I put down everything worth while. Wanna make these sound good. smile.gif
Dark Talon
Oh, and the Ikons are all there, you can have one of those, but if you want the Doc Wheels Special, they cost you 11k
Poit-Narf
Yay for free Ikons! nyahnyah.gif

By the way, here's the final list of program the party has freely available:

[ Spoiler ]

And, the list of physical stuff Doc didn't take:

[ Spoiler ]

Note 1: I'm not sure if Tom ever ruled one way or another on if autosofts are capped at rating 4, so I left the rating 6 ones at rating 6. If they're supposed to be rating 4, then pretend those 6's are 4's. nyahnyah.gif
Note 2: The list of gear does not include things that belong to Toast (which, at the very least, includes an Evo Orderly and whatever drone is used to repair aircraft).
Note 3: All programs (other than Firewall) are capped by your commlink's response (plus the program's optimization rating, if any). So, if you're using one of the free Ikons, then most of these programs are going to be running at half capacity.

Edited lists because I forgot a couple things.
merashin
rad, if you have a t1 in your office, then i have some bad news for you... my internet connection is 12.95 times faster, and calpoly's ethernet jacks are some odd 120 times faster. Suffice it to say a t1 isn't that fast anymore.

So, how many of the playtest writeups do you have? And of the ones you have, is there anything we should change before they get submitted?

I have everyone's but Mitch. They are all pretty good, so I don't think anything need to be changed.

You know, I really don't care that your family has money. If anything it makes me less impressed with you.

@ Matsci: Glad you thought the reviews were okay, I kinda rushed the advanced lifestyle part because I thought it had to be in by the 2nd. By the way, I finally finished doing the character survey for Johnny Blades. I'll email it to you tonight, so you should have it by the time you read this.

I tried to give examples of where the lifestyle did its job really well, and when it seemed to be too broad... by trying to apply them to Dark Talon's parking garage. nyahnyah.gif I really am enamored of the negative lifestyle quality where a temperamental AI installs itself into your home nyahnyah.gif Maybe it could play with ours and they could be friends

Toast Eats sprites, not AI's.

Knives Eats AIs.

For Toast, ask Zeck why his Techo was obsessed with toasters.

For Knives, he named himself after a trigun character.
Poit-Narf
The explanation that it's just a coincidence is kinda disappointing.

Oh, by the way, I'm going to be late to game tomorrow. Unlike most Fridays, I can't work from home tomorrow, so I'm going to be on my way home from work when game starts. I'll hopefully be on my computer by 7 or 7:30.
Matsci
Tonight knives is going to be playing via web cam. Yay for AI in boxes
Poit-Narf
I foresee that, eventually, we won't actually be in the same physical room.

Instead, we'll all use voicechat software and webcams, along with some sort of screensharing collaborative software so Tom can show us maps & such.
Dark Talon
You should work on programming that smile.gif
merashin
doc wheels firewall 9 system 6 programs still work on any commlink, because he built those from scratch and that's replacing the os, not upgrading.

So basicly Skype + OpenRPG?

Yeah, They still work. It's an OS, by itself, not an Upgrade. Still, if say you wanted to upgrade an Existing OS, such as the Iris Orb, the max you could upgrade to is rating +2

Hardware is likewise capped.

Also, I got a reply from CGL. we didn't make the cut for playtesting.

awww sad sniper nyahnyah.gif I wonder how many applicants they really got?

We probably should have put more time into it, but it was a case of bad timing. They should have asked around the start of the quarter, not the end of it nyahnyah.gif

Question: Are we playing this friday? Will anyone be here? We gonna skype play for everyone this week? haha

The Question is how much Python Garret knows? I don't know enough to write a shadowrun dice roller.

Also, check out page 332 of SR4A. They capped the amount of enhancements on optical devices/

are you changing possession back to the house rule, or am i going to have to play my mage as my next char?

I'm probobly going to implement these instead

* Modify the Possession Test for inanimate vessels/ objects to Force x 2 (Object Resistance x 2).

* Allow Bound spirits to only possess vessels that are present at the time of their binding. This limits use of Possession as an attack power to Summoned spirits.

* Rule that a conjurer may only command a spirit to possess a vessel which is within the conjurer's line of sight at the time.

* Rule that Possessed living vessels may actively resist possession in a manner similar to a Mental Manipulation spell (p. 202, SR4). Every (Force)
Combat Turns, the victim may spend a Complex Action to shake off the spirit's control. The victim rolls a Willpower (+ Banishing) Test; each
hit reduces the net hits on the spirit's original Possession Test. If the possessing spirit's net hits are reduced to 0, the spirit is expelled from
the target.

I know some Python, but why's it needed? I've been rolling physical dice and reporting the results this entire time.

Yep. I don't trust myself.

It would be better if you could see my horrible, horrible dice rolls.
Poit-Narf
Well, if a die roller is needed, I don't really have time to code one.

But, someone mentioned using OpenRPG. The advanced die rolling functions in OpenRPG should be able to handle the Shadowrun system.

The only flaw with that is putting up with OpenRPG...
Dark Talon
I would just have Tom roll my dice, but he glitches WAAAAY too much, and since he's trying to kill my character, I really don't trust him. nyahnyah.gif

And can we just use that invisible castle program? You can log in and it will save your roll results, and I think Tom can go check it that way.

I told you I'd retire him as soon as he made 10 million so he could buy permanent luxury lifestyle! Well, actually, he's gonna buy SLO and probably spend the rest of his life sniping pirates nyahnyah.gif

Oh, and I want to initiate him once more.... maybe twice... and raise his magic again. I just want to get him to the "ideal" status, so I can retire him. He needs to really be the best (As he's intended to be) once he reaches that point, I'll set him aside. I want to get him there, I don't want to play him once he reaches that point. (well, I do, but I won't make the group play it. I like the idea of the forum runs against the really impossible stuff, but to solo those, I've gotta get him to the point where he can)

So, are we showing up at the office on friday, or playing via skype?
merashin
i'd say office, i don't really wanna play via skype
