Redjack -- I'm seeing 2 hits on the Chemistry test. The drugs that she's reading about are not particularly powerful--the 2072 equivalents of Zoloft and Ambien. Given a regular dosage and exposure to psychotropic conditioning, they can be used for personality shaping. Extremely high, short term dosage would cause nausea, fatigue and possible mania. They do have several side effects including sleepiness, nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, skin rash, headache, diarrhea, upset stomach, loss of appetite, abnormal ejaculation, dry mouth, and weight loss.

There are thousands of photos from different people working at the Beautification project. It is expected to run for three more weeks. Maps of the community park along with trids of before and a computer rendered "after" are distributed across a dozen different PR engines. On the Horizon Americas Community Support page, there is a progress-flower that has gone from seed to a plant with a bud. At project completion, it will be fully in bloom.

The general schedule appears to be a catered breakfast in the morning (7a-930a) for Horizon America employees, with gardening gloves and tools passed out, then a snack truck is there all morning as they work. Lunch is catered (1130a-130p) picnic style, with large blankets spread across the grass. Most employees are focused on flowers, bushes, and small plants. Another contingent works on playground equipment and decorating with smart paints and AR images.
Redjack
AHAHAHA... 9 hits... Wow! I wish. Another multitasking fail.
BishopMcQ
Are people waiting on me for anything at this point? I've seen a few IC comments go unanswered.
Buddha72
I'm here but no response to IC stuff from the others - it seems the posts from players is disjointed or at least disconnected. We're all in the concrete cube at the moment right?
Saytr
Yeah as far as i can tell. With papa and crimson doing a lot of leg work i just added a tidbit for brock to keep him active. The result from the information in ic is a little confusing but i get the jest of it.
copperheed
I still exist. Apologies for the delay; marriage prep is a time sink. I was expecting people to respond to her suggestion IC. It seems like every one likes the chauffeur idea so I'll presume that one.

Bishop, what's the normal price of buying loopholes and exploits? And/or page number in the matrix book.

Three things that I wanted to do:
  • Establish a bot net big enough to help Papa and I with stuff later in the run.
  • Figure out what her transportation is.
  • Look for security holes and such in the Horizon ACPS. I want to be able to let Papa cover our tracks quickly when we do pick up our target.
What's the dice pool, time, and danger associated with these? I put them in what I figured was the easiest and least dangerous to hardest and worst. If my buddies can help with the first two, that shouldn't be much danger. Any other suggestions from the more experienced people? Do you caster folk need anything?

What is this dread you're referencing Redjack?
And how late is the legwork/hang out at the bunker going? Crimson has an appointment later that evening.

If anyone wants to spot Crimson's lie about knowing of the cyber scanners her default is 3. And spotting the headache that she trying not to show anyone is 4. (Bishop permitting a +4 intimacy bonus since she's used to living with it and covering it up.)
BishopMcQ
Copperheed--Check out Unwired p 93

Bot Net -- It's primarily cost and availability.
Transportation -- someone would need to go in and get eyes on the target and watch her leave (astral or physically) OR get into her commlink, Trace it to a physical location, and watch for it to leave the enclave and compare the exit with what vehicles leave at the same time. There are other options as well, social engineering, torturing neighbors, hacking other ways, etc.
ACPS -- Options would be to hack the ACPS directly (Potentially Dangerous) or find a spot where the ACPS is not active. One potential spot like that was found as members of the team drove around.

You probably infer the sense of paranoia I try to play with Papa and the fact that the weapon scanners interpreted a tool as a weapon so fast without threatening intent.

Shouldn't be long for us to at least narrow in on a primary and a fallback plan.

See Hacker Services, Unwired 201. Not shown there, but I assume that Cost of bot would be the cost to buy a node with the specs of the bot.

Fenris and I will post tonight y'all!

Saytr--Toss me an Etiquette roll. Your Loyalty rating will serve as a positive modifier.
Fenris
Contact roll to check for answer: Contact roll (1d6=2) - Looks like we're leaving a message.

Etiquette Test - Influence Group + Charisma + Contact Loyalty + Street Cred (16d6.hits(5)=5)

Looking for a safehouse, short term if we have to, long term preferred, and looking for the medium lifestyle version, at the very least biggrin.gif
Saytr
8d6.hits(5) → [3,4,3,3,5,3,6,5] = (3)

copperheed
Readying action to leave the bunker, but staying calm and covert about it.

Questions:
  • Looking like a person is a Intuition+Disguise. What is acting like: Intuition+Disguise again, Charisma+Disguise, or Charisma+Con? I'd like to know so that I can comment on CB's effectiveness at this plan.
  • Would anyone like to come investigate some hidden caves and underground passages with CB? I was thinking Brock could come with CB since we'll need to check if trolls fit everywhere we want to go.
  • Thirdly, does anyone know how to remove Rfids from people? I don't know if its a thing in the books but they're tiny and they might be implanted in people. Would one of those Rfid jammers/neutralizers disrupt the thing if it was in a person?
  • Bishop, what is the standard response to cars being stolen? Is it like modern day where it can take awhile for the police to find it or does everything have the low-jack equivalent? I want to know if it's better to use my vehicle or to boost something as an intermediate transport. I'd prefer the latter and would like know if boosting is a ton of heat very quickly or has any obvious drawbacks outside of the individual vehicle. Then again whats the price on something cheap and disposable? And I'll knowledge check anything you want me too.

***Reminder to self to get a disguise, subtle gas mask, and some gas thing to knock out our target. And spelunking guide. Also make a contact check after the meeting.***
Saytr
Brock will be glad to tag along and stuff his large odd shaped body through caves lol.
BishopMcQ
Copperheed -- Acting like someone else would be Con + Charisma, with the Impersonation specialization applying.

Removing RFIDs would use a Tag Eraser for standard RFID tags, Security Tags need to be physically removed, which can mean surgery in some cases.

Stolen Cars -- response begins when they are reported stolen. At that point, the cops will find out if the car is active in GridGuide and then override the navigation, lock the doors and stop the car near a waiting police officer to arrest you. To prevent that, you can delay notification (steal a car that won't be driven during the window) or change the car (Spoof the Access ID/change the license plates, rip out gridguide, turn off wireless etc. Several options are available that use different skillsets and attract different levels of attention based on the part of town you're in.)

Buying/Renting a car -- Various modifiers to cost can be applied (was it involved in a crime, stolen, how rare is it, etc. SR4A, p 312) but contacting the Milano's or your smuggler group would be the way to go for that.
Buddha72
I was thinking out loud with BishopMcQ - well sort of via messaging and we have been at the side job that pays crap for about two months. I think we might be over thinking the job here. We could just have Siren show up in her alias and request to see the woman, walk her away from the others and then slam a spirit in her (from the twins). Physical Mask to cover the signs and then walk away. Or wait two days, hack her car on the fly while she's in the black out zone and stun her (gas, spell, etc). If we're worried about signatures then a black pillowcase and some zip ties to restrain her. Pull all the mojo out 30 seconds before the hand off and erase. No judgement on anyone - I think we may have fallen into the Shadowplan trap with this job.

Would people be willing to try it this way just to see if it works out? Let me know.
Redjack

You get Papa's vote... and if you use Papa's voting app, everyone votes for it (even if they don't).
Saytr
Lol that's fine with me.
copperheed
If everyone's cool with it I'll do it. Remember to spell out in explicit detail my part of the job though. I'm just a little cautious after the "team building" run you ran us through that I'm not presuming anything is easy. And I know individuals keeping secrets from the party and not planning or bad info boned us, but I don't want to be the person to mess this up for the group.

I'm also cool with the distribution of work suggested in RP, but didn't know if Papa would have something to say IC about the leadership change, so CB is watching.
Buddha72
Copperheed fair enough though I think so far we don't have the same deep darks here as with that thread.

Since everyone or at least enough for majority - we will post tonight to shift us that way and see how it goes. smile.gif Thanks for giving it a chance.
Fenris
Looks like we'll be catching up tomorrow, but I also endorse the "Let's do it" plan.
BishopMcQ
Alright, so I see two plans:
(Rendered into more explicit steps based on my conversation with Buddha)

Option A
  1. Siren/Sidney meets Mara at Community Service
  2. Under the guise of an interview guides her away from the main herd
  3. Rest of the team is parked nearby waiting for extraction
  4. Twin A puts a spirit into Mara
  5. Twin B readies an action to Physical Mask
  6. Mara and the twins walk to the vehicle
  7. Team drives away

Option B
  1. Wait out the Community Service
  2. Identify the vehicle Mara takes to work
  3. Hack the vehicle on the fly in a Blackout zone
  4. (Possibly guide her to/create a blackout zone if she doesn't go through one)
  5. Narcoject/Neurostun/Taser her
  6. Load her in the vehicle
  7. Team drives away

Which plan are you going with? Are you using Papa's van, one of Crimson's vehicles, a rented/stolen vehicle?

The next day is also when Papa's repeater should be ready.
copperheed
I like either of those, tending towards A, so I'll leave it to the more experienced to gauge threat level and best course of action. I do want a disposable vehicle so that our stuff isn't tagged.

Not to be the fly in the ointment, and I like the community service location, but weren't we going to do it before than because a time restraint in the main plot?
BishopMcQ
Copperheed -- Papa's research said that she would go to a community project some time within the next two weeks. Siren found out that Mara is going for the next few days, starting tomorrow. That put it back in the timeframe.

For the vehicle, let me know who you are contacting to get it (Etiquette test, Negotiation as well if you want to bicker over pricing) or if you are stealing it.
Thanee
The only problem I have with A is, that it includes a good chance to blow up my Sidney SIN.

Bye
Thanee
Buddha72
Agreed - anyone have suggestions about how to prevent that? I like A since its the quickest and easiest with the least amount of dice rolling. The idea I have is the spirit can be instructed to go back in her body so folks see her returning from the interview and then she leaves (goes to the bathroom or something).
BishopMcQ
For Sidney's part there may be a Con roll to lie to folks, or if she can integrate back into the crowd while "Mara" eats lunch away from the group then walks off. It gives several minutes for Sidney to build up an alibi, though magically active folks may need to be distracted from looking too closely at "Mara". That's the give/take...

If Sidney stays while the rest of the team is off delivering the target, it could further build the credibility that she wasn't involved--thus saving the fake SIN. More Social rolls though...
Buddha72
So how solid are your social skills? Do you think you can pull it off?
Thanee
Well, I'm the team's face, so my social skills are certainly up for it. smile.gif

Yep, that is what I thought... she will have to stay around and thus not be available, in case something happens... of course, since she isn't exactly the combatant-type, that is quite to her liking. wink.gif

To add to the "believability", Siren could actually try to find a magazine, that would be willing to buy an interview with one of the Horizon research geniuses.

Gotcha Bishop. Could I make a Smuggling roll for the best option? I still feel a little out of my element at gauging threat levels and "good idea, bad idea" in Shadowrun.

Does anyone else want to weigh in on the vehicle issue: a player's vehicle, something I steal that day, or something we purchase on the cheap from contacts to dump? Most of these aren't likely to be troll moded but I'm sure we can find something. Heck I might even be able to mod it, though since its not a keeper it will tell them that trolls were involved. I don't think that's much of a give away as long as we wipe it down.

Things to note that I'm going to bring up and hopefully utilize:
- CB can navigate to within 3 blocks of major Horizon security areas while avoiding ACPS (Didn't think that was required in RP since it's a skill she's expected to be responsible for.)
- The other is the smuggler caves. They'd be useful if we want to check her for internal bugs or can we wrap her in that faraway/wireless deadening stuff. It'd also give us a chance to move from one area to another beneath the notice of ACPS. It might even lead us out to the sea if we want to go really out of the way, but I, the player, am not personally not well versed in what areas the ocean reclaimed Though we need to check it for troll useful areas.
BishopMcQ
Copperheed--Go for it.
Buddha72
Our weekly total is 135. (sorry it was late this week)

Ok - so it sounds like plan A is the one we are doing. Fenris and I will post tonight, meant to do so already but got sick midweek but coming out of it now so should be able to today. Going to post the shifting gears and going with the new plan.
copperheed
Best way to acquire vehicle/boost: Intuition+Smuggling= 11d6.hits(5) = (4)

If Budda and Fenris want to bump us to the run, I'd like to put in a placeholder for Brock and CB investigating the caves and such.

Bishop, what rolls should I make while we do so? Oh, and CB is going to tell Brock to bring underwater gear like breathing apparatus and such that we might need. And I suppose I'd like a general knowledge check, if its required, to know if this body of water (Pacific Ocean?) the caves connect to are magically bad or chemically poisonous and such.
I'll pay attention to see if rolls required (navigation of caves/spelunking and general know of the water connected to the caves)
BishopMcQ
For exploring the caves, toss me a Navigation + Intuition (+2 dice if you have a GPS). Your previous knowledge told you that some of the caves are connected to the bay (normal salt water) though Common Sense will say that sewage run-off in an urban environment is fairly normal. Not necessarily full blown sewage but all the crap people and cars dump on the streets and rain washes away.

Smuggling -- You will want a vehicle with wireless shielding or a faraday cage to prevent any signals. Presuming that she doesn't have access to electronics, you will only need weak shielding to prevent RFIDs. A cyberware scanner may help to determine how strong a jammer or the like needs to be. (Papa should also be able to jam the signal on the fly) The actual vehicle will need a Gridlink Override or Spoof chip to avoid detection/detention by authorities OR not be reported as stolen/carrying a kidnapping victim. If you don't want to use the Rover, boost a car from a long term parking garage or rent one from the Milanos.
copperheed
Navigating the tunnels: Intuition+Navigation+GPS(2)= 9d6.hits(5) = (6)
Forgot the nightmares, so -2 dice equals 4 successes.

Brock, feel free to Teamwork this. Remember to bring chem resistant scuba, re-breather, or whatever handy under water gadgets you have.

And I'm purposely not getting help from smuggling contacts, so that when Horizon rattles it's sword around the underworld, no one can point a finger.
Saytr
5d6.hits(5) → [4,5,4,2,4] = (1)
Intuition+navigation defaulting +2for GPS -1 for defaulting=6 dp

http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3950557/

Brock will have to rent the scuba gear and purchase a re breather for the sewer travels.
copperheed
Brock's aid pumps it back up to 8 dice for 5 hits
8d6.hits(5) → [1,4,5,5,4,5,5,5] = (5)

For the vehicle use, I'm strongly towards the boosting something, but I'm checking the times for mods, to know how long it will take to troll mod, faraway cage, unlock GridGuide, etc this thing. And if we've time I totally want strip the mods out. **Reminder to self: wear gloves and spray everything with the DNA destroying stuff from Arsenal.**
BishopMcQ
Copperheed--The gridguide stuff can be done through hardware or via hacking if Papa gives you the assist. As far as modding it and unmodding it, I think that if the job was larger scope it would be worth it. For such a tiny job and a car that you will likely only drive for less than five minutes (to get somewhere to transfer to your vehicles), it may be overkill.

I'll get the cave stuff posted later tonight. If Copperheed/Redjack want to toss out the die rolls for stealing a car go for it.
Buddha72
Our weekly total is 136.

So... what could I do to approach this?

Siren has no "Journalism" skill (might invest a few Karma to get one, though, as it would be quite fitting smile.gif), but through her background, she should be familiar with some parts of it, at least.

She has the Influence Group, of course.

Bye
Thanee
BishopMcQ
Thanee--it'd be an Artisan (Writing) test, with Journalism being a related skill. Then, selling it would be a Negotiations test with either an appropriate contact or you'd have to do some legwork to find one.
Thanee
Oh, I do have Artisan. smile.gif

So, since I do not have a contact that would work, some legwork is required.

I will just throw you an Etiquette Test to get things going ...

First, Increase Charisma (for Sustaining Focus).

Increase Charisma F5 -> 3 hits (barely not a glitch wink.gif)
Drain Resistance (DV 1) -> buying that one hit, easily

Drop and try again.

Increase Charisma F5 -> 5 hits (better! Only 4 hits count, of course. smile.gif)
Drain Resistance (DV 1) -> buying that one hit, easily

Then, Etiquette...

Charisma + Etiquette + First Impression -> 7 hits

Bye

Updated plan:
  • T-8: Papa probes the node at the Community Service area for vulnerabilities.
  • T-X: Papa makes an initial penetration of the node. Checks for a secondary security node; If needed, he begins probing the secondary node.
  • Twins take up placement somewhere up high with line of sight.
  • Papa goes mobile.
  • Crimson & Brock parked nearby waiting for extraction of Mara & Siren.
  • Siren meets Mara at Community Service as Sidney
  • Siren convinces Mara to an interview. Guides her away from sight for the interview.
  • Papa penetrates node. Once in, gives the all clear.
  • Twin A puts a spirit into Mara
  • Twin B readies an action to Physical Mask
  • Mara and the twins walk to the vehicle
  • Crimson extracts Brock, Siren, & Mara; drives away. Brock uses radio frequency scanner to check for bugs. Papa remotely runs scans using Brock's com as a jump box.
  • Papa covers matrix exit.
  • Twins cover magical exit.

Scan for nodes in the area of the Service area to find either a master node or the security node:
E-Warfare(4) + Scan(6) + Hot Sim(2)
[6,1,6,3,6,4,4,3,6,6,5,1] = (6->6)
[2,4,5,2,4,4,4,5,4,6,3] = (3->9)
[3,2,2,3,1,4,3,2,6,6] = (2->11)
[6,3,6,4,2,3,3,1,2] = (2->13)
[3,1,6,3,6,4,6,2] = (3->16)
[1,2,1,5,3,1,3] = (1->17)
[2,2,4,5,4,3] = (1->18)
[6,4,3,2,4] = (1->19)

Analyze the Scans:
Software(4) + Analytical Mind(2) + Analyze(6) + Hit Sim(2) [4,5,3,3,5,1,1,6,4,2,4,5,6,4] = 5 hits

Probe the Target for admin access (System + Firewall + 6, 1 hour); Stealth = 6
Hacking(6) + Exploit Spec(2) + Exploit(6) + Hot Sim(2)
[2,4,3,3,5,2,2,2,4,5,2,4,4,5,3,6] = (4->4)
[1,5,2,5,5,4,3,4,6,5,5,5,4,6,1] = (8->12)
[4,5,4,6,1,5,4,3,2,4,1,5,1,6] = (5->17)
[2,5,4,3,5,1,3,5,1,5,4,6,4] = (5->22)
[4,4,3,3,3,5,2,2,5,4,1,5] = (3->25)
I would hazard a guess that I got it on hour three. Posted all rolls for the sake of completeness.

Matrix Perception
Computer(4) + Analyze(6) + Hot Sim(2) [3,2,3,3,5,1,5,6,5,2,6,4] = 5 hits
- Alert status?
- Scripts on user create or log edit?
- Active IC?
- Hidden node connections?
- Administrative or security users in the system.

Hack away security measures:
Hacking(6) + Edit(6) + Hot Sim(2) [3,3,4,5,4,1,3,1,5,5,5,1,4,5] = 5 hits

Create a backdoor.
Hacking(6) + Edit(6) + Hot Sim(2) [3,3,2,3,5,6,5,5,6,6,6,4,3,2] = 7 hits

Edit the Logs
[3,6,3,3,2,1,3,5,4,1,5,2,3,1] = 3 hits
Edge: [1,6,5,4,2,1,1,3,5,3,6] +4 hits = 7 hits

In the interest of moving forward, I made an assumption about the recon and rolled a bunch of the rolls to move forward.
Does Papa need to arrange for a car? I could hack a rental...?
copperheed
Bishop, I'm checking this list with you before I roll it and possibly get myself nicked or dead before the run. And anyone else feel free to jump in if I've missed something.

1) Finding an appropriate vehicle
  • Browse Matrix check for locations, security boasts, and pricing to find a long term parking structure.
  • Show up and scan nodes
  • Analyze nodes (Finding the security and the right vehicle. I may have to scan/Analyze several to find one that fits the bill and doesn't have irritating security.
  • Hack or Spoof security (how many rolls is that?)
  • Bring a disguise and use it. (If my negative quality presumes that. I always have my sigil on me than never mind.)

2) Grabbing it:
  • Physical security: Is there a simple check or do I need to come prepared to beat "maglocks equipped with RFID card readers, keypads, biometric systems, or some combination thereof"? (Arsenal 104)
  • Matrix security: Hack the Node and then Decrypt it. This sounds easier than finding the owner, hacking their 'link, and getting the passcode. (The latter means that I could check them out of the parking as well, but sounds like it'd take awhile.)
  • Spoof Security to leave

3) Driving it around
  • Steal on the day of, leaving twice enough time for mods if the group thinks we want to troll mod it.
  • Spoof the datatrail and change out license plates and whatnot. (Spoof chip and morphing license plate if I have too.)

Can I bring any of the Milano contacts along for the ride for some teamwork? If so, how many and at what skill so I can price them with Unwired pg93. I'll use my previous chat with Leo unless you need me to roll again. And I'm going to pay them as if they were 1 dot higher as encouragement and cause its nice to pad the bill for your contacts. --> (I presume that I can do this and charge as Expenses for this mission unless its a breach of protocol or what have you. If it is, then I'll not use them and solo it.)
Separately, how much are the hacks on Horizon? And Redjack tell me if you're interested in the answer. I'll also ask Papa RP.

Group: Tell me if modding whatever vehicle I get so that Brock can fit is a good idea. Or do you all think it's better that people not know that a troll was in here and we can just stuff him uncomfortably into the entire backseat and be done with it.

Bishop, the location beneath Horizon area, is it inside a compound or somewhere useful for us to use if this thing goes south? To anyone, what are the chances of us laying this and someone else spotting this (by it wireless, since even grenades are wireless nyahnyah.gif) stealing it, or blowing it early?
Buddha72
Looks great Redjack except I think that Siren is going to walk Mara back after she is possessed and then interview other people around giving her alias a cover. Then Mara will excuse herself (bathroom, make a private call, etc) then we scoop her up. Everything else as you laid out. smile.gif
BishopMcQ
Thanee--Siren has a buyer on spec. It will depend on the final article content and quality but they are interested.

Redjack--you can find some of the ACPS nodes (not as densely placed as near the enclave and shopping mall) as well as a stand-alone node in the park--likely a public access station for the park and information. Let me know which you are hacking since there aren't any security/control nodes found.

Copperheed--most cars use maglocks as you mentioned, it will mean a bypassing a maglock with an RFID most likely. Check out SR4a p 263 for info on bypassing maglocks.
Thanee
Yes, of course. smile.gif

Bye
Thanee
BishopMcQ
To keep the thread moving, I will do the rolls for stealing the car later today if copperheed doesn't get there first.

Redjack--which one are you hacking? If I don't see anything before the bump, I will presume the park's node so that you have a jumping point for nearby nodes and commlinks if you want it later.

Does anyone have any other actions they want to do before arriving at the park?
