Actually, it copies the "Amount to UCAS" line, or should. That's the way it works with what I've got. 25% to UCAS, another 25 to upkeep/repair/etc, and the rest to crew.
EDIT: Ok, figured out the problem. It's only the first line that does that. Changing cell directly below Upkeep and Repair to the following will fix that. Spoilered everything you need to cut and paste in.

Okay guys.
Some thoughts/directives by group.
Quicksilver group (everybody but horvagab, Edana, The Goon): Today is Thursday, let's try to have everybody's posts bringing them up to the meeting by Sunday. If we can do it faster, cool. If not, Sunday.
Horvagab: Let's try to finish up by Sunday so that you're ready to join in when the boat docks. I know there isn't much left to do, but email me, let's try to get whats undone done.
Edana: You're all done, thank you. Just keep checking the threads.
The Goon: Changes made, you're done. Poke me off-thread, by email or PM, and we'll discuss what the IC training he's undergoing off-camera looks like.
On Sunday: I'll do my level best (dog and parents permitting) to post moving the action from Quicksilver to the docks of Cape May. What I had planned was that the takings and covers discussion would merge with a discussion on the mission assigned. However, what I'm going to ask is that the Quicksilver group keep things confined to hashing out takings and covers, leaving mission stuff for when you're joined up with the new characters. Yes, newbies, this means you're presented with the takings and covers decisions as basically a fait accompli ICly. To reduce the unfairness of that...You've always been welcome to pitch in your thoughts OOCly, and I'm glad to see Edana has. Now I'm going to say it explicitly: I encourage you to pitch in your OOC thoughts on either matter.

The proposed split (25% UCAS, 25% Boat, even split the remainder) is fine by me. Can always tweak numbers a little during play if we find out that the boat fund is too much or too little.
As far as covers go, salvage or transport would probably work out ok.
Falling back to smuggling just before the 'shoot them all and dump the bodies for the sharks to deal with' cover would give something that Eliana could help out a lot with, seeing as she basically is a smuggler.
Penta
Jul 1 2010, 06:08 PM
Good to know we have the split worked out. Someone propose it ICly, since it hasn't been.
Salvage could work. I remember that Bob Ballard (the guy who found Titanic) got his funding by agreeing with the USN to go on active duty (he was a reservist at the time) and secretly look for the Thresher and the Scorpion, two SSNs lost during the 1960s. He wound up finding them, then finding Titanic basically by accident.
Transport, though, hmm. Of people? Of cargo? Different requirements for each, naturally. People do object to being treated like cargo.
Oh, by the by:
During the week, you do find out what gratis equipment the Navy is leaving behind.
Among them:
2 disassembled Zodiacs (stats are posted somewhere, if not I can post em). They're only a cubic meter when disassembled, excluding the engines, so yes they fit. I'm taking this opportunity to OOCly laugh at you guys for not thinking to get them. I was going to be mean and not include em, but then you'd be stuck.
A Renraku Manservant drone to handle the galley, unless you guys want to appoint someone to cook. (You should still have someone prep menus and make sure food for the drone to prep is on-hand.) Also, one to do limited cleaning of quarters (though the medical officer is still advised to make sure everybody keeps things relatively clean also). They're only 2500 nuyen each, so the Navy threw them in without blinking. Like breath-mints, they have tons of em.
The computer system is modified for your needs - it'll act like a normal CHN, yes; it'll also do other things, as you've seen with the guidance lights, it'll control the drones, etc. If you guys have any ideas as to what it should do beyond the guidance lights, tell me and we can assemble a more comprehensive features list.
A flag-maker to help with new identities, plus enough of the specialized cloth-stock used for modern flags for 8 flags - don't just make the flags and leave em around, it looks suspicious when you finally fly em. (More cloth-stock can be bought on the grey market for 80 nuyen per flag's worth.)
Space is allotted for an armory/arms room to store weapons and ammo, as I've noted. Captain Walker earnestly advises you use it - storing weapons and ammo outside of a controlled space is bad if a fire breaks out.
There's a small fitness room that came with the ship's original config. They swapped out some of the household gear for commercial (gym) stuff, but the end result is that there's a decent assortment of workout gear.
Washer and dryer modified for shipboard use.
And I ran out of ideas.
Edana
Jul 1 2010, 06:36 PM
I would assume cargo transport. You can always put people in cargo space if need be, but putting cargo in living space is a lot tougher
.
For that matter, you could use something like human rights activists as a cover. Maybe we sneak people out from the oppressive countries in the area, or away from the cartels.
That would possibly give you a cover chain of: Salvage -> Cargo Transport -> Activists -> Smuggling -> Shoot it and let deity of choice deal with it.

Penta: Cherry's gonna go shopping on shore (mostly for gel rounds); can she start doing availability rolls while she's still on the boat? I know that at least one of the things she's gonna be in the market for (a Blackout) is likely gonna have to turn up on the black market, and gel rounds too, maybe (though Cherry's rifle is registered in Israel, and probably with Ares, it's definitely not in the UCAS). I can write up a full shopping list for you tomorrow after I've had some time to consider it better.

That's kind of what I was thinking.
Salvage-> Treasure hunting/salvage of a Spanish gallion, Corp sub or other target-> Smuggling-> Murder Death Kill
It could be believable enough and if someone giving us trouble decides they want to go after our treasure we could hand over to them a bunch of faked info on the location, sending them on a wild goose chase.

Quick question: what spells would you guys think would be useful? I'm kind of stumped on this one, the current grimoire is this:
Analyze Device: to help when in need to fix ship etc....
Heal: for emergencies
Mana Barrier: Astral defense will probably the lion share of my work, and this spell seemed useful to reinforce the wards on critical areas e.g. bridge, engine section
Stunbolt: so I have something to use in combat
Any suggestions?

Personally I wouldn't take Analyze Device or Mana Barrier. Analyse Device would require you to overcome the item's Object Resistance(I do not think that the ORs on this ship is going to be trivial) and the Mana Barrier would require you to sustain it and it blocks friendly astral movement as well. Instead first on my list of spells would be Increase Reflexes with a Sustaining Focus, more IPs means you can be more useful.

I need to think about it. There are good arguments for making you wait til you reach shore, there are good arguments for not waiting.
It is, in my head, a coin toss.
*thinks as he plays with puppy*
Okay, my quick ruling for this time only:
For most of the voyage, while the ship is not under EMCON (I'm going to let DH clear up my jargon), the Navy disallows outbound comms - with the sensble explanation that they'd prefer not to be tracked as they progress up the East Coast, if they could avoid it, and maintaining COMSEC is a good way of making the ship seem innocuous.
*After* the meeting you guys are currently amid with Walker and Roberts, you're under 12 hours out. You may then begin outbound comms and talk to contacts and such.
OOC reasoning is that I don't think it's necessarily best for the isolated feel of being at sea if you can still get gear whenever and have it waiting for you.

Sunday isn't over yet, so this may be premature. However, not that many of the Quicksilver group have piped up on the thread since I nudged. This may be because I forgot today was July 4th til last night as I fell asleep (silly me), hence I'm figuring our US players are off celebrating the holiday, and our Canadian players had Canada Day a few days back.
That being the case, I'm going to hold off til sometime tomorrow on going "OK here's what I see" as Walker, summarizing the decisions made, and moving things forward. I'd like it if everybody on Quicksilver could post something summarizing the week from their perspective, but I'm not going to wait.

6WA actually has something of interest on the map for Cherry - namely, that Israel appears to have annexed Lebanon. Thus, her peace-time experience was probably a little bit more war-like that she would have enjoyed.
Penta
Jul 5 2010, 06:10 PM
Yeah, I don't see an entry for Israel in the TOC either. Shame, because I would have loved an explanation of "How dumb were they, going back to Lebanon again?" I mean damn, wasn't one experience eerily like Vietnam enough?
In other words, let's leave it be until we can go through it, or at least until I can.

Agreed. So agreed. CG wasn't horrific (I'm almost done with it), actually rather good, but from what I'm hearing here on DS, 6WA in its current form probably has little business heading to the printers, simply because editing was so rushed.

Mmmkay guys.
I read through Corp Guide in a sustained stretch yesterday. The better part of 234 PDF pages.
Good book, I think. I have no *idea* where to place it in the timeline because of the lack of a Jackpoint page, but while I feel free to say it's not completely accurate (for instance, I don't see the AAAs or AAs as out-sourcing all of their logistics ops, as stated in the Maersk section; instead I see them having international logistics capabilities, but that nobody could possibly do all of the logistics for a AAA or even a manufacturing-focused AA on their own, not even the AAAs. Hence, they outsource a lot of it), I'm going to say that you can, by and large, rely on the info contained therein. The Aztechnology section makes blood magic even more confusing so far as "What is known to the public ICly?", but I'm going to handwave the brain-melting confusion by presuming that Ivy (horvagab's mage) got a full briefing under classified conditions as part of her Thaumaturgical Officer training off-camera.
I'm now going through Sixth World Almanac. I don't know what to think of it yet (I am cranky about the 2006 sidebar showing up for 2020), as I'm only 35-40 pages in to a 200+ page book.
I will endeavor to handle it like this: I'm going to read the rest of the timeline part of 6WA, then I'll grab lunch. Then I'll start the slow perfectionist process of writing the scene-shift. Idea being I should be done by tonight.

Jul 6 2010, 08:44 PM
6WA seems to cover until 2073 - it lists events in the timeline happening in November 2072, for one thing. So I'm gonna say we don't apply 6WA to Neptune's Realm yet.
I'll finish reading the book over coming days (I finished with the timeline and stopped) and try and come to conclusions as I digest things.
On that note - I was fiddling with Faraday's yummy spreadsheet and noticed something.
Say you have an incoming of money (say a ship capture) worth 100k nuyen.
25k goes to the Navy. OK.
25k goes to upkeep and repair. OK.
12500 goes to Crew Share.
Each member gets 1250, presuming 10 crew, for a total of 12500.
Does anybody else spot the Math Fail?
Even if the crew share is separate from the money paid out per crewmember, say for medical care that's more than Roger can do or something or for other big purchases...
Where the hell did that last 25k go? For those doing the sums at home, 25 + 25 + 12.5 + 12.5 = 75.
It needs to equal 100.
This was all spotted only because I'm having Walker summarize the takings discussion. Obviously, I'll delay the post until we figure out where the math failed.
Edana
Jul 6 2010, 10:26 PM
The problem is that the sheet is calculating the crew share as half of the upkeep, rather than as half of the initial sum. (The split should be 25/25/50, with the 50 further divided amongst the crew, 10 people in this case.) This can be fixed by changing the 'D' references in column E to 'B' references. (On line 8 for instance it would be "=PRODUCT(B8*0.5)" instead of "=PRODUCT(D8*0.5)".)
It would probably be wise to change the share per member column to use a separate cell with the actual crew count as a divisor, rather that multiplying by 0.1, as that better allows for people joining/leaving, which tends to happen in PbP games.
I put a copy up on google docs, it's currently editable w/o a sign-in so you can see what I mean. (Hopefully no one will feel the need to break it
.)

So, Cherry's doing some shopping, and I need to OOC resolve them before I write up the IC. She'll be going to New York City to make these purchases. Note also that, with permission, Cherry's HVAR is registered with Ares, with all the pluses and minuses that that entails (it's definitely registered in Israel, and she bought it legally from an Ares store, so it seems likely it's registered with them as well). I don't think any of them are going to need availability rolls except possibly the modification, but it is as always the GM's call.
One round trip train (or other transit) ticket from Cape May to New York City (I need cost and availability for this one)
Gel Rounds (caseless assault rifle) 200, 600
each, 4R
Additional Clip modification for her HVAR, 2400
, 10R (she'll also need to find and pay for labor)
Zoe Executive Suite suit (long coat, 2 shirts, pants), 2350

As I recall, Cherry has 8500
. I briefly considered having her get a Blackout as well, but I think she's the sort of "accidentally forget" the non-killing orders when she's in cyberspace. The suit is because the last party made her realize that there are situations between "cocktail dress" and "fatigues", and an armored suit fits most of those nicely.

Which part of NYC? Remember that Manhattan is funky extraterritorial corp turf. You would be very unlikely to be allowed to bring your HVAR anywhere near Manhattan.
