I'm hoping the next DLC brings us either the Grand Canyon (Great Divide) or Big Mountain Training Facility (Big Empty). Both are mentioned in Dead Money and the Big Empty sounds like lots of interesting fun. There is some info on it in the Van Buren files I believe.

Up around Mt. Charleston Jacobstown, right?

Yeah, about 2/3 from Goodspring to Jacobstown.
It's where the Great Khans live, if that helps you at all in knowing the location.
Doc Chase
Yeah, I know Red Rocks. I forgot that you can head through Radscorp/Cazador territory to get up there on the backend.
Stahlseele
Well, usually, you can't simply because it's cazador / radscorpion territory <.<
X-Kalibur
Radscorps are no match for my... my... tire iron? Oh shi...

This is where I would want those awesome Potions of Athletics and Acrobatics from Morrowind....
Tanegar
Playing New Vegas made me want to start a new game of Fallout 3... so I did. I <3 Moira.

they are in there.
they are called DRUGS.

Actually, with a dose of turbo alone I could decimate a giant radscorp with a tire iron... (also provided I had some associated perks).

No they aren't. Those potions let me leap across the continent in less than a minute. I don't think drugs in Fallout replicate that feature.
Stahlseele
i think there was one that let you run a bit fasta, but nothing to that extent.

I'm remembering the three scrolls you got from the mage that falls out of the sky.

I could do the same with a bottle of whiskey, a cowboy hat, and Annabel. biggrin.gif
CanRay
So, where is New Canaan anyhow?

It's not in the game. Yet.

There's cryptic messages relating to it in the game files, though, which a lot of folks are speculating means the next DLC, Honest Hearts, will revolve around New Canaan.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Honest_Hearts

This might mean that content from the previously canceled Fallout: Van Buren might be used.

Not by the time I'm done, no. biggrin.gif

I figure New Caanan would be further up the lonely 15.

It's hinted (stated?) that New Canaan is in Utah.
CanRay
That was my point about New Canaan. nyahnyah.gif

There are a lot of references to that as well.

Something about Salt Lake being covered in giant mantises, yeah?
CanRay
I have now gotten all four endings, and have to say that they are all certainly interesting!

Hell, I can't even say that one side was doing things "For Teh Evilz", either, they all have their positive and negative parts...

I still want to shoot Yes Man until he no longer gets up, but that doesn't work. frown.gif
Faraday
So I kinda messed up I think...

[ Spoiler ]
nezumi
It's alright. We've all been there once.

[ Spoiler ]
Voran
Indeed. And that's part of the fun ending.

Somewhere down the line, It'd be nice to have a Fallout Universe setup, where you have a bunch of maps that connect. The Fallout 3 map of course, the new vegas one, something in Texas maybe, Chicago might be interesting. Heh Fallout Oahu.
CanRay
When I first got the Fallout D20... Er, *Cough*, sorry, "Exodus" D20 game, one of my group wanted to run "Fallout: New York".

It never went anywhere.

bwahahahaa glorious ^^

It was that fan film that made me think for a few moments...

Digital cameras that give decent resolution are getting pretty cheap, and editing can be done on any modern desktop (Or even a generation or two older.). You won't get HDTV quality, but you could YouTube it easily for standard resolution easily enough.

A Gaming Rig is designed for Graphics as well, and will have the crunch for CGI work as well, and everyone knows someone with one of those, some of whom are artists. (I remember a friend that made space ships on his Gaming Rig for fun in the early 2000s.).

Traditional film making tricks are still the same price, but can be cheap if you know how or are innovative with your money. Robert Rodriguez is infamous for doing big budget-style movies on a shoestring, and gives a few examples of how on his commentary tracks and "Making Of" portions of his DVDs.

Fan Films are going to come a long way soon, methinks. Honestly, the only think keeping us from doing Shadowrun easily is the difficulty in make-up for Orks and Trolls. Dwarves can be done with simple camera tricks. (Don't believe me, look at Gimli, named Elf-Friend, Lockbearer, and Lord of the Glittering Caves. Now look at the actor who portrayed him in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy movies, John Rhys-Davies!). Treebeard, his other character, is closer to his height.

As for actors, getting commitment will be the only issue. Honestly, hit a local Convention, or even just a hobby/game store, and I'm willing to bet you'd get a dozen people in a short time that would swear they'd love to be in a movie for nothing but the sheer fun of it all. Some will even bring their own costumes.
Stahlseele
That movie up there IS in full HD.
you can select it on ew tube.
also, the first digital cameras and smartphones/tablets with 3d camera have been released.
yes, this will change everything. again. for real this time. not like that crapple thing.
CanRay
Yeah, well, I'm on a strict budget. And the Government of Canada isn't throwing money out to the Arts like it used to.

Something about people making porn on the Federal Government's dime...
Stahlseele
*snickers*
yeah, it certainly changed amateur porn too . .
you just wait, in some weeks, the first 3D capable amateur porn movies in full HD are gonna pop up on the web ^^
CanRay
Just what we need... Cam-Whores in 3D.

Anyhow, back to Fallout: New Vegas. The Dead Money DLC is heading out to other platforms soon!

Trust me, folks, it's worth the purchase price!
Stahlseele
i'll have to re-install the game then . .
and for that, i need to find out just what the hell is taking up so much space on my HDD, now that i think about it <.<
CanRay
Time to get some blank disks to back up your Bubba the Love Troll porn collection.
Stahlseele
I have TERRABYTES of storage . . literally . . i think i am at 20 or 30 terrabytes . .
problem is, my drive for OS and Games is only 138Gigs big, and Windows Vista Ultimate 64 alone is allready at 40 gigs . .
Crysis/Wars including mod takes up 17 Gigs. and i only have about 20 gigs left of free space . . and i don't know where all of that went <.<
CanRay
Windows Vista, there's your problem.

Now, as for things I wished for in New Vegas... TOMMY GUNS! Hopefully show up in a DLC.

I'll give you a hint, one of the other Mobster-Era weapons shows up in Dead Money!

Well, there is the laser RCW. Looks a lot like a Tommy gun... That shoot laser beams. biggrin.gif
Stahlseele
The silenced .22 smg looks like a tommy gun O.o
CanRay
Laser RCW, yes, is a Laser Tommy Gun, that's very true.

The Silenced .22 SMG, no, does not look like a Tommy Gun. It had a Drum Magazine (Pan Magazine, actually), that's as close as you get. It looks like it's based on the American-180.
Wounded Ronin
On the subject of amateur video gamey movie making, if I ever come up with helmet cam footage of airsoft based force on force type activities, would anyone be willing to add a FPS interface to it as a joke?
CanRay
I wish I could do stuff like that.

I hope the new DLC is coming down the pipe soon. I'm jonesing for more New Vegas, and am happy Dead Money will be out soon for everyone. (Oh, and I can't use Modded equipment, as I have it for my X-Box 360. My computer, it is not beefy enough. Although that will be fixed as soon as a friend has time available.).
Doc Chase
I'm told Feb 22 is when the DLC gets dropped for everyone else.

TUESDAY, HAPPY PEOPLE
edit: Proof!
CanRay
Really looking forward to the next DLC!

Working slowly on my new character specifically for the DLCs. Already got all four endings for the most part. Only missing Arcade's storyline...
LurkerOutThere
So is the DLC worth it? I was decidedly underwhelmed FO3's DLC. I'm also a bit tired of paying for level cap increases as it's all just an arbitrary number.

I am going to start a new character in the next couple days with the hope of either playing a really bad guy or a really good guy and siding with the NCR but working out a peacable solution with the Brotherhood, so i'm hoping it will go well.
Stahlseele
haven't played it yet, but i have heard some interesting things about it.
for example, leave all of your gear somewhere safe before you go for this.
also, be at least level 25, better level 30. this is mostly a dungeon crawl.
with certain aspects where you need some NPC's you're going to meet.
also, don't get too close to the active radios, because they will kill you.

Unlike some of the FO3 DLCs, I had no reservations whatsoever on spending money on this one. I enjoyed every moment of it, and am working up a character specifically in mind for doing DLCs now.

The FIRST SPEECH you get in the game is one of the spookiest, meanest, nastiest things I have ever seen in gaming! And it was done purely with words and the spoiled fact that I have one of those explosive slave collars on.

It. Gets. Worse.
LurkerOutThere
I've heard that the DLC relies heavily on melee and unarmed weapons, which is fine as that's something of a specialty of my current character. Based on you guys recommendations i think i will get it.

Unarmed, yes. Melee, yes. Firearms... "OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD!!! AMMO AMMO AMMO!!! PLEASE!!!" "I don't have any ammo." "Not you God, the other God!" "There's another... Never mind."
X-Kalibur
Funny, I never had an ammo problem really with my small arms character. God help an energy weapons based character though until you get that weapon fully upgraded.

For unarmed characters, I have only this to say - bear trap fist. It sounds goofy. It IS goofy. But god damn is it satisfying.
