I am glad Mercy put in a place-holder.

Will look forward to his account of the casino's reaction!

Do we need any actual GMing/dice for this scene?
I am thinking the idea is just for things to go crazy, and Glo to meet us somehow in the horrible mess.

But if Aria is going to try to actually pull off the heist first...

Just want us all to be on the same page as to how we're proceeding....I'm good with anything.
Aria
Well I'm going to try but have a suspicion that this run might be a bust nyahnyah.gif
mister__joshua
Edit
Mercy
Why would the run be a bust? It should still give you a chance to meet with the rest and that is what we were aiming for, right?
Aria
I just meant from Glo's perspective of achieving her goal! The RP goal is very much intact biggrin.gif
Aria
Jack... I assume you have ultrasound and radar? You should probably be able to see the naked girl making for the fire escape stairs...

naked girl

I've been meaning to ask you if she dresses like in the picture you drew.....
Mercy
What was Glo doing after she got all the excitement going?
Mercy
@Jack and Glo: The penthouse is on the 14th floor, so that is a lot of stairs. The door at the top will be locked from the inside, so you will need a way to get past the maglock there. Inside the penthouse is one of Fu Shing's personal guards, a man with a SMG with APDS ammo. He is wearing a suit that is armored and protected a bit against chemical, fire, and electric attacks (+2 for each).. Also, he is pretty darn antsy right now, as the word is starting to go out that the fire is a hoax and he would have been one of the first to be informed. There is a security connection between him and the men on the ground floor, but not the guy you tricked into coming up the stairs with you, as that man is regular hotel security, not one of the private guards for the boss.

The penthouse is currently empty except for the one guard as the boss and others that might be here are at the hospital. if the guard in the penthouse has time, he will notify others and men will come up the stairs and the elevator.

I hope that I have painted enough to help you guys play it out a bit farther.

Glo, if John's sonar and/or radar can pick you up, can a drone with normal sensors do the same?
Aria
Well therein lies the problem with SR and uber sensors making invisibility a bit pointless...and where's the fun in that? I would say that thermo and lowlight aren't going to spot her (she has limited thermo masking and room temp will make the difference less than it might otherwise be), movement sensors and ultrasound might, radar probably not...there used to be something about negative mods for vehicles spotting metahumans as they are geared to spot other vehicles and large immovable objects. Anyone else got a view?

As to the guard...let's see how he deals with Glo's APDS and monowhip ork.gif

Dresses isn't quite the right word...she takes her clothes off to become invisible!
Mercy
LOL I am sure that you can deal with the guard. I was just pointing out a couple of things so you can use them in your post. Still not sure why you think what you are looking for would be in the boss' penthouse, though. Wouldn't it be somewhere lower down in the building.

Also, just so we are on the same page, this particular boss (Fu Shing) does not have your stuff, so please do not write that in. What Glo is looking for is in the possession of Rick Wu, not Fu Shing. The information you have is doctored and made to look like Fu Shing is involved, but you have been set up to be the back up fall guy in case the assassination did not go well and Fu Shing was back in his apartment. Still, this will help serve to bring us all together in a plot to overthrow Rick Wu and leave the 88s in a shambles.
Aria
I was actually going to aim for the security office biggrin.gif

Yes, I knew the intel wasn't here... in fact the triads may not have it at all nyahnyah.gif

So, when she's naked she's invisible, and when she's clothed she's visible?...this could be quite frustrating for Al - but I'm sure he'll figure some clever way around this diabolical conundrum....

No worries, John is not only fast but also enduring - and has at the moment only curiosity on his mind (besides getting a chance to map other parts of the casino.)
But I'm assuming that the elevator isn't working during a fire alert.

As to the drone question: The spy drones have only a R3 sensor suite, so if Glo has 4 or more successes on her stealth check those little buggers are bang out of luck.
Mercy
Thanks for the information on the drones, Jack. Good to know for the future. That does mean that fixed sensors in and around the penthouse might be able to see her though.

I would think that the security office is on the ground or first floor.

Just for your info, I'm waiting for Aria to post a reaction, before I have John barging in on Glo's mission smile.gif

Yeah, sorry...I'm drowning in work at the moment but will try and get something up soon!
Jack_Spade
No problem, just wanted to avoid that everyone is waiting on everyone else wink.gif
Aria
Sorry about this week...got something up eventually...didn't want to steam too far ahead in case anyone wants to intervene...
adamu
So, just to be sure, are we doing dice.

Figured no one had for the sneaking and the conning, so as long as we're on low-level stuff reckoned it was cool to take out one lone guard...
Jack_Spade
No idea, but I think for lone guards we don't need to start rolling - a room full of them is a whole other issue...
Mercy
Not sure that you need dice for these guys, but I will leave that up to you. We do need Glo's actions before we go too far, though, since she is the NIC in the room.
Aria

On the assumption that we need rolls I've done 3 attacks rolls with her whip (not calculated reach on this but I assume they don't have any?!? And are possibly surprised briefly anyway)

3#15d6h5: 3 # 4 [15d6h5=1, 5, 3, [6, 4], 4, 4, 1, 1, 2, 4, 4, 5, [6, 3], 3, 1] 3 [15d6h5=1, 5, 1, 4, 1, [6, 1], 2, [6, 3], 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4] 7 [15d6h5=1, 5, 4, 4, 5, 3, 1, 5, 4, 5, 5, [6, 3], 5, 3, 3]

Accuracy is 7 with wifi enabled.

Of course I'm equally happy to IC her calmly butchering the poor fools without needing to roll awkward things like resists etc... Mercy, what do you think, you seem to have sort of stepped in to the GM role for this little segment...
Mercy
Woe, I guess so, huh? I think we can IC most of this, but I will need some things from everyone.

Alright, since each whip attack is a complex action, we need to go to initiative and then see if John and Al are able to get into this in some fashion. I know that John is just outside the door as you are making your first swing, which will certainly catch everyone inside by surprise. Please let me know which man you are attacking first. You have the options of the standing man and two seated guys.

Everyone else please roll initiative and let me know what you plan on doing

At the start of the round, there will be two live guards in the security room with the NIC that are now active, one security guard with John outside the room who is active and has a weapon in one hand and a 'link in the other, and Al one set of 12 stairs behind john.
Jack_Spade
Ini: 14+5d6 31

Once John catches a glimpse of the slaughter, he'll turn on the guard and simply shock glove him into unconsciousness (while saying something pithy, like "clear")

The guard might get a surprise round, but I'm not really expecting much difficulty:
Shock Hand: 19d6t5 10
DV 9S(e) AP-5 + net successes
adamu
Al's initiative will be 24.

He'll make his way up the steps, and when he sees that Johnny has taken out a guard and that there is no one else in the hall, he'll nod at Johnny then fade into a corner somewhere and keep his eyes open - in other words, he'll assume an ambush position using Sneaking so that he can get the jump on any passing guard or invisiible naked chicks.

Sneak roll to be hidden in hallway: 11d6t5 7
So I reckon pretty close to invisible.

Will IC after Jack does, since my post will include seeing him shock the guard.

Aria
Could someone roll initiative for Glo please? I suspect she won't get a freebie surprise round as such due to coming through the door but I guess nothing happens until she initiates it so it will be a question of whether she can dispatch the two seated guys before she gets riddled with bullets! Her first target will be the standing guy...will try and IC tomorrow!

I rolled a 17 for her (if I'm reading her sheet right - some sort of typographical weirdness in the initiative slot, but I looked at the base stats and I think it's 12 + 2d6).
Mercy
No, I think with that roll and the fact that he is not suspecting anything from you that he will be unconscious. I will do up an IC as soon as I hear from Glo and Al.

I put up actions and rolls about four posts above this one. Let me know if you need anything else!
Aria
I know Mercy had kindly written some stuff about the scene but I don't think my IC post contradicts anything?!?
Mercy
Sorry, I took Glo into the next round since the guards were too shocked by the violence to react in time to prevent the second guy from being killed. There is still the matter of the third guy, who seems intent on giving up. Do you let him live and go home to his wife and kids or do you mercilessly end his young life?
Aria
Rather than a back and forth of short IC posts, let's plan out the conversation here and then it can be posted in larger segments...it should flow better that way and give the people not actually involved in the conversation a chance to input!

Oh, and as it apparently hasn't been made clear yet, the growing light reveals that these kids have probably got body gloves like yours on under their furs/skins what have you! But they are clearly embracing the wild living too!
Mercy
@Aria Was that post for the Run! thread or this one?
Mercy
@Jack Do the shock gloves work when you want them to or are they on all the time? If on all the time, would they damage the key card when you pick it up?
Jack_Spade
Obviously I have to trigger them (like normal shock gloves) otherwise I couldn't carry anything without depleting my batteries and frying my equipment. smile.gif
mister__joshua
"I love you darling" *tenderly strokes cheek*

ZAP!

"Damn"

Crap! Run! lol
Aria
Quick aside, don't want to disrupt the IC, but I doubt that Glo would become visible without being damn certain there were no cameras in the vicinity...so let's assume her mugshot isn't plastered all over the Triads' sec feed please smile.gif ...unlike Jonny, and Al ork.gif
Mercy
Sec feeds? There might not be any cameras in the security room. Come on, it would be safe to expose yourself, right?
adamu
Al's life wouldn't be complete without one more organized crime group hating him - why do you think he left Seattle for London.

But then, the whole point of this job is that the 88s are already trying to kill me!

But it is a good reminder that I need to have him do something rude in the general direction of any cameras he sees!
adamu
Whose decision is it how much resistance we meet on the way out?

And what sort of gun did Al take from John (in case it matters)?
Mercy
I think there is still a great deal of confusion in the hotel from the distraction and the sprinklers. It should be easy to get out without too much trouble unless you want trouble.
Jack_Spade
Even better. The time for gratuitous violence is not yet here (especially since John hasn't his rifle with him at the moment wink.gif )
Mercy
@Jack Correct me if I am looking at the wrong vehicle, but the Morgan I am looking at is an all-terrain truck that normally seats two. I am assuming that you have removed the second seat to get the Valkyrie Module in, is that correct?
Jack_Spade
No need to remove the second seat as that is actually a gunner position (the only thing that has been removed is the weapon mount). The VM has been installed just beside that seat (which is now a jump seat for an EMT or MD).

Oh and by the way: The Morgan has of course a spoof chip and a morphing licence plate.
adamu
@Mercy - fun watching how even the most basic security analysis can track Al pretty easily. Black trenchcoat he is not!

Just FYI to assist your next moves, he probably did fail to wipe his prints properly (He only did it cuz he saw it on the trid as a thing you do). DNA from old piss in a pile of garbage? Whatever. Point is, he's totally SINless. You can trace his biometrics to his fake IDs, which have bogus addresses, and his truck which is registered to both those IDs (depending on which his spoof-chip/morph plate is toggled to).

Others that have his biometrics (that I know of):

(1) Proteus AG from decades past - but since he worked for them as a deniable asset, those will be locked away securely.

(2) Sgt. Pratt and Lt. Esposito (on OP) who (in my version of Seattle) form the whole of (the bought-and-paid-for) KE's anti-mafia task force. They are true-believer organized crime haters, though, and, knowing how corrupt the cops are, do not keep that stuff on any KE databases.

Just fun details - like I always used to tell my players - if someone corp or OC wants to find you badly enough, just assume they probably can.

Mercy
LOL Well, now you tell me. The character sheet did not indicate that, but I can roll with it.

How long are you guys staying at the bar?
adamu

Actually, most of that is in the long history section at the bottom of the OP sheet. But then I don't expect anyone to actually wade through all of that!

But like I said, my philosophy is that as long as the characters are operating within the panopticon, determined foes with resources can probably track them barring extraordinary precautions (which I'm pretty sure we haven't taken). That's just my view, though - others may not agree.

When we were first discussing this thread, one of the premises agreed was that once this got rolling, the opposition would likely start coming after us....(or reaching out to us, depending on which way which factions play things).

How long in the bar? Al's ready to leave right now with an armload of bottles and bullets.

I'm assuming, however, that Jan and John will veto is little brainchild....
Mercy
I had thought that it was odd and had actually assumed the chips and plates.

I will work that into the next post, but wanted a bit of an idea of how long you guys were going to be there so I do not assume something that is not accurate. Ai/Tanya has a lot of assets she can call on and may be able to ID one or more of you. If so, she will probably reach out after determining that it is unlikely that the Triads have hired you to kill her boss. There are still other ways that everyone can meet up.
