Quick update from me. With the outbreak of the Corona Virus and with a new mass hysteria I haven't seen since maybe 9/11, probably even worse, I'm having some difficulty finding time for myself again and for you guys as well. Currently, Texas has issued a Declaration of Disaster in response. What's worse is that everyone thinks with a hive mindset and the overwhelming majority of the people around believe it's going to be a Walking Dead Apocalypse of some kind or another. A lot of nut-jobs and whackos are claiming this "Plague" has been engineered as a means for the "New World Order" to establish a different era of control...

Anywho... I haven't forgotten you guys and I'm trying my best to keep the game going.

Meanwhile, as a trucker, I get to keep going throughout that Walking Dead apocalypse, seeing that it's not zombies causing disasters, though the level of intelligence present is about the same.

As a farmer, I get to check my stockpiles of feed, medications and ammunition.

Pretty much the same as any other Wednesday.

Did you know you can use a pressure canner as a field expedient autoclave? Not as good as the real thing, but if you know what you're doing (and why) you can get good results.

My wife and I are stuck at home. She has pneumonia, and that together with her age puts her in the top risk category for COVID-19. So, we talk to neighbours at a distance and watch a lot of Netflix and HBO.

Being retired is a good thing in such times, except for the fact that we are watching our savings melt away with the stock market plummet. Meh, we'll survive.

As you can tell from the only other game active on the forums, I am still here. I am waiting to get hit with the bug since my job is one that takes me into WalMarts and Family Dollars all over the South Carolina Lowcountry to fix registers and self-checkouts. I have been training my immune system for the plague my whole life though, so I should be fine.

Farming in my region is at least 20% lumberjacking.

All good here. Finally got home to be with my kitties. Social distancing comes built in with my job, so no worries about me.

What's the gig, Crossbow?

The other active game on the forum, New Beginnings. The team is in the middle of a run in Africa and a few players have fallen out. Sleepy is already filling in for one of the spots, but we have a heavy and a face missing now. I really want to finish, if only for the two players I have had since the beginning of this team, which was like, eight years ago.

Just from reading a few of the last posts, it looks as if Torley is one of the PCs you need to fill in with a player. He sounds interesting, and certainly different enough from Willie for me never to confuse the two!

I'm a little concerned about jumping into a game that has been going on so long. There's a lot of history and nuance that would go into playing a PC who has had such long contact with the others. I don't know that one could do that without being glaringly deficient in the knowledge of the story and of the individual relationships.

How do the players feel about a noob jumping in?

Unfortunately, they are kinda getting used to it. 8 years we have gone through a lot of players, very few have stuck, life being what it is.

We have been at this adventure for a while and I would really like to see it through. Thvor (the player) has been missing since November, and Torley (his character, the face) is kinda critical so having someone taking him would be great. You would be an improvement over the last drop in before Sleepy joined us in that I have seen you play a little.

I played in a campaign called "Post or Die", in which a PC would be killed off if the player did not post within a certain time limit since previous posts. At the end of the campaign the kill count was 10. The GM had to bow out so I took over in the reincarnation: "Post or Die ... More". It fizzled when I did.

Can you help me out with a link to the PC's stats etc.? Given our current situation in real life, there seems to be time for me to try to read the current IC thread at least.

So, can we say I am tentatively in till I get a chance to see what I am getting into?

Torley's sheet is on the first page of the OOC thread, check in on that page when you feel like you are ready, I will try and give you a synopsis of things, and thanks btw.

Sorry I've been so inactive. With the pandemic, I've been running 14 hour days almost daily, hauling food, water, etc.

I swear that was the biggest awakened carp I ever fished out of the dumpshock hydropower source. I tell you what, it fought me like a tiger for four hours straight, and then when I was about to land it she turned into some kind of carp mermaid and offered me a real good time ...

Anyway, a few days later I reckon it's sorted out.

So do I, but paper decks don't work through the computer screen, and I refuse to go on Arena.

Why? Arena is like the best thing that ever happened to my magic play ability.
