at least in the copy of the pdf I saw at Dragon*Con, watchers can only be summoned at force one, and their stats and skills are straight ones. Doesn't sound like they're overly useful now...
Spookymonster
Page 94 (Face) - has implanted commlink and datajack. The datajack should fit comfortably in the commlink's capacity, resulting in an Essence of 5.8, not 5.7. This isn't necessarily incorrect, but it would be pretty dumb smile.gif. Oops. Thanks, Hahnsoo.

Page 96 (Ork Hacker) - has implanted commlink, but external subvocal microphone. If the commlink still needed an external microphone, what would be the point of getting it implanted?

Page 97 (Occult Investigator) - Earbuds w/Audio Enhancement, Select Sound Filter, and Spatial recognizer would be Availability 16 (beyond starting character's availability).

This isn't Errata. This is simply a fact. Watchers only have a Force of 1. They've been signficantly reduced in power to reflect what they are supposed to be (the equivalent of an Astral Spitwad).

Commlinks don't have a Capacity to hold other cybernetic enhancements. They cost [2] capacity to be placed in a cyberlimb (instead of Essence). Thus, you couldn't fit a datajack in a Commlink. You can fit a Datajack for [1] capacity in a cyberlimb instead of paying the Essence cost.

Page 167 (Magical Lodges): In order to progress in her studies, a magician must have a collection of symbols, writings, tools, and other material that allows him to record her progress, gives him room to expand her knowledge, and assists him in her magical endeavors.

Page 233 (The Living Persona):

Technomancers have their own version of the persona,
known as the living persona—essentially it is an organic commlink
with sim module in the technomancer’s head. This living
persona has attributes just like a regular persona, each based on
the otaku’s personal attributes and Resonance.

I think that the otaku should be replaced with technomancer

Shouldn't the Attribute Boost Adept Power include a sentence like:
Up to a maximum of power level hits? Like it is default with spells, and the power is somewhat similar to spells...
The current way there is no really need to take the power at a level beyond 1...
Crusher Bob
Also, what kind of action is it to use the attribute boost? It just says "To gain the boost, make a Magic + (Attribute Boost) Test."
Crusher Bob

The cost of the Mitsubishi Nightsky is only 20 000 Y. I don't think it's right, it's very cheap for such a car. Maybe the right price should be 120 000 Y ?

By the way, in the same page, several vehicles have no Sensor Attribute (Winged Planes, Rotorcraft, VTOL/VSTOL)

Things I noticed in the PDF:

Skillsofts - Nowhere does it say where these skill softs are loaded. I assume it is either in a Commlink with a DNI or a Sim module with a DNI. Does that mean that all commlinks have the equalivlant of a Skillsoft jukebox?

Is there a limit of the number of knowsofts/lingua-softs a character can load at one time? Skillwires limit activesofts at max rating of any one = skillwire rating, and total rating at skillwire rating x2. There are no limits listed for knowsoft or linguasoft that I could find... but I would have to assume that loading dozens of language programs at the same time would cause the normal metahuman to start babbling in indecipherable gibberish. So.. should it be ruled like matrix programs? (For every "system" number of programs reduce "Response" by 1.) You would have to assume that a normal sim module without comlink would only have a system/response of 1.

Is Simsense still compressed (ACT) or is it all uncompressed?

=====

I love the wireless web, I think it works great in the shadowrun system.

On a 'reality check' note... Wireless matrix is a little hard to swallow. The high bandwidth requirements for that many users would require an almost Faster-then-light wireless frequency... In 2005, we have some very short range high gigahertz frequencies that can do transfers at high speed (~1 gb/sec), but the higher the frequency the shorter the range and more prone to jamming/distortion.

It would have to be a distributed/parallel system.

Perhaps the wireless web is all about bandwidth sharing... Other PANs in the area all combine their bandwidth so that when the orc in the music store is downloading the latest thrash metal then the dozen or so people's shopping upstairs (and not using their PAN much) are helping transfer the file to his PAN. Kind of a wireless distributed torrent system. All of which is seamless to the user.

---

Also.. I think the system of encryption is way over-simplified. If you have a powerful system that can encrypt data, it would take an EXPONENTIALLY more powerful system to hack that encryption. With public/private key encryptions, it would be easy for devices to send signature files out to establish secure links. brute-force hacking of that kind of system (in 2070.. what? gigabit level encryption?) would take centuries....

But it is not any fun to not be able to hack the encryption... so I guess they just said screw it and made it way too easy to hack encryption.

---

One last note... a pet peeve.... Tranq patches... beloved tranq patches... We need to finally admit that these patchs are USELESS unless even a rating 1 patch will knock someone unconscious...

If you are using a tranq patch.. you are trying to knock them out.. either to kidnap them, safely eliminate a guard, or put a buddy asleep if they are injured.. You are trying to put them to sleep.. NOT JUST GIVE THEM STUN DAMAGE.

For tranq patchs to give stun damage equal to their rating is the most idiotic thing I can think them doing. Even a 12 year old, skinny, computer geek has 8-9 boxes of stun meter...and the biggest tranq patch is a rating 10?? You would have to waste almost (20 nuyen x 10) $200 nuyen to put him to sleep (with an availability of 20!!!).

I say change the rules..Otherwise... stick to a 10 nuyen bottle of Chloroform.

My house rule change for tranq patch:
Make the tranq patch roll an opposed test with its rating vs. the body of the target (plus modifiers, if has cyber/bio filters), for every net sucess for the tranq patch the target is unconscious for 10 minutes. For every rating point a tranq patch is over the body + modifiers of the target, the patch gets an automatic hit. If a character resists a tranq patch they would still take stun damage equal to the rating of the patch divided by two (round down).

Example:
So.. Rick the runner is using a rating 6 tranq patch on Rent-A-Guard Bob. Bob has a body of 3, and no cyberware.. We roll the rating of the tranq (6) dice, and bob rolls his body 3 dice. Rick rolls a 1,2,2,4,5, and 5. Rick made 2 hits. Bob rolls a 2,3,6. Bob made 1 hit. Rick also gets to add a number of automatic hits since his rating 6 tranq patch is over bob's body (3). Rating 6 - Body 3 = 3 automatic hits added to his 2 hits gives Rick a total of 5 hits, minus Bob's 1 hit means that he succeeded the opposed tst by 4 sucesses. Bob goes to sleep for 4 * 10 minutes = 40 minutes minimum.

I'd say you wouldn't even need the commlink - datajacks come with their own memory now, apparently.

Chalk one more up for the ever-popular 'GM fiat'.
Autarkis
Or rating*2.
Rotbart van Dainig
A datajack/sim module has no rating... this only applies to the sum of rating of activesoft run simultaneously on a skillwire.

There was no limitation on lingua/knowsoft in sr3, either... well, except the memory size. wink.gif

Actually, a Sim Module has a "Device Rating" of 3. However, as far as limitations on how many softs you can run, there was really no limit back in SR3 (as long as you had enough memory), and probably shouldn't be a limit in SR4, as long as you have it loaded. This can potentially get cheesy for those with lots of resources, but it's always up to the GM's discretion.

..unless it is implanted, which 'causes' it to have a device rating depending on the grade, yes.

Personally, I don't see too much of a problem, too - as there is no real benefit in having all your softs running at once.

PDf v 1.11, page 86, third paragraph titled "Complex Forms," last sentence reads:

"The maximum number of complex forms your character can learn during character creation, regardless of rating, is equal toyour character's Logic x 2."

... "toyour" should be "to your" ...

PDf v 1.11, page 87, fourth paragraph titled "Background and Story," fifth sentence reads:

"Why is his street name is Lucky Louie?"

Remove one occurance of the word "is."

The Technomancer (p. 103) has wrong indicates. Attributes are 220 BP not 230 BP and Active Skills are 134 (inclusive the specialisation +2).
But the entire calculation result is correct.
Cochise
Since astral perception these days totally replaces physical senses while active, I somewhat miss the "no -2 dice pool modifier" for true dual beings on mundane tasks ... and subsequently I do wonder how duel natured entities ever gonna be able to read physical writing ...

The regeneration power lacks an explicit mentioning of incompatibility on cyber and bio implants. Alternatively a weakness like bio rejection is missing both in general and specifically on Critters like Vampires and Wendigos ...

RFID-Tags: Signal 0 or 1 on page 325?

SYL
Rotbart van Dainig
Erm, no... thats for sensors stuffed into a RFID.

RFIDs have a Signal of 1, Sensors in a RFID have a Signal of 0.

Another try: Armor Spell: F/2+3 Drain, Physical Barrier: F/2+3 Drain, but this one is an Area Spell.

Autarkis
I don't think that needs to be in the errata. One moves and creates armor around a person. One doesn't move and creates a wall.

Yes, but does this mean the character has to buy a datajack for every skillsoft (s)he wishes to slot? The description under datajacks mentions it can run chips and the description under skillwires does not mention how many chipjacks or datajacks the system comes with, standard.

Erm, no... as memory is infinite, you can just load it.

p. 140: Visibility Modifier for Thermographic seems off - shouldn't it be a -1 for Heavy Fog/Mist/Rain/Smoke instead of a -2 (Thermographic being much better at this than Low-Light)?
Autarkis
I think the moisture for fog in the air might diffuse the heat or cover it up a bit.
Rotbart van Dainig
Maybe, but not comparable to normal light.

Low Light reduces the mods for Fog/Mist/Rain/Smoke to onehalf.
Thermographic reduces the one of Light to at least onethird rounded down, but Heavy only by onehalf... -1 instead of -2 seems correct - this would be onethird, too.
Shayd
As noted elsewhere on the boards, at no time or place does it specifically state that you cannot increase a skill individually from a skill group in chargen (that is to say, buy skill group @ 4 then raise skill inside it to 6 for a skill savings).

It's implied (none of the archetypes nor NPCs do it; the rules seem to point out that the rules on breaking up skill groups apply solely to karma-related increases), but it is not clear in any case, and should be clarified in errata.
Rotbart van Dainig
p. 342: Renraku Stormcloud has a Handling of -3 and a Pilot of 3 - without a Maneuver (Aircraft) Autosoft, the Drone wouldn't be able to steer by herself - so Handling seems off... unless you consider having a Blimp the Handling of an 18-Wheeler or a Jumbo jet.
morlock76
p. 342: GM-Nissan Doberman
Comes equipped with one weapon (LMG or smaller) and Clearsight 3 and Targeting 3 autosofts.

LMG would be 2k in value, Clearsight 3 is 600 in value, Targeting 3 is 600 in value.
Thats 3.2k value that costs 3k.

Comming from the IT sector, I got to ask: Bug or Feature?
Rotbart van Dainig
Talking about bug-or-feature... The Ingram Smartgun X features a Gasvent and a Suppressor, while it should only be possible to attach one barrelmounted accessory, the Ingram White Knight features a Rating 5 Gasvent, while Gasvent rating only goes up to 3.
Is this trying to hide the 'fact' that all automatic weapons made by Ares feature a integrated RC of 2? wink.gif

The total RC of the Ingram White Knight is off, too, as it features a Bipod, too.
morlock76
I got to disagree there, as page 301 / 302 states:
Integral accessories (those that come with the weapon) don’t take up mount locations.

Its a bit abusing that you got two barrel mounts on it, but oh well. Stock guns were always superior, as the CC rules of SR3 showed us.

The Ingram White Knight just plain cheats...

Edit: page 310
Ultimax-HMG-2: Equipped with a detachable tripod, a rigid stock with shock pad, and a gas-vent 3 system, ...

Tripod grants RC of 6, Shock Pad of 1 and Gas Vent of 3, thats 4 (10)
In the table on the bottom of the page its listed as: RC 3 (10)

It never failed to amaze me that a detachable folding stock grants a RC of 1 (if used) while a rigid stock doesnt grant RC.

P.228

Under "Virtual Reality" Second Paragraph:

A simsense module is required to access full VR. The sim
module is a commlink accessory that you access with a datajack
or trode net. Simrigs (both worn and implanted) and cranial
commlinks also contain sim modules.

However, p. 331 in Gear/Cyberware section: Both "Implanted Commlink" and "Sim Module" are listed seperately (for same .02 essense and 2000 nuyen.gif

-----
Also.. Implanted Commlink is not listed as having a 'transducer' to translate thoughts into spoken words over the commlink and vice versa..

Is this an oversight? Since without either a transducer or a microphone/earphone there would be no way to make a call using an implanted Commlink.
Rotbart van Dainig
It is assumed to automatically have a 'Transducer', as it has a DNI - as do Datajacks.

p. 285 Talismonger: Knowledge Skills: Magical Background 8 just doesnt seem right. wink.gif

v1.1.1 PDF The map at the back appears to be lower resolution than in the previous version. At 162% everything is nearly unreadable, where as the older one was still pretty clear other than some of the small cities. It loads much faster but that doesn't help much if you can't read it. And, yes, I have waited to make sure it had fully loaded. I've even tried downloading it again from BattleCorps.
Mr. Unpronounceable
Unbelievably minor...but of course, that's probably why I spotted it: page 67 in the description of a Troll:

"A troll’s ears are pointed, and they have two extra teeth—for a total of 32—including prominent lower canines"

A human normally has between 28 and 32 teeth (the variance is due to the 'Wisdom' teeth, which not all people develop.

Ah, well - at least trolls are roughly 4x heavier than a human now.

edit: and of course, I got the page wrong when I typed this in embarrassed.gif

Well, it wouldn't be able to do vehicle tests by itself. But vehicle tests are only called for when you are doing something extraordinary. The idea of a typical day for the Renraku Stormcloud? "Float around, take pictures" Not very intense.
Rotbart van Dainig
Err, right, missed that one... in SR4, one doesn't need a vehicle skill to drive.

p. 139: Weapons Ranges: Crossbow don't have a STR-Rating - so... why is their Range based on STR?
Rotbart van Dainig
SMTP got me.

In pg 187, it says Improved Ability can add up to the skill level.

In pg 63, it says any bonuses are limited to half the base skill (round down).

Which is it?

Also from pg 63, is Specialization counted as bonus dice, or a skill add, or what?
I.E., If I have Agility 4, Pistol 4, Revolvers +2, Smart Link for +2, Reflex Recorder, What am I chucking?
Agility + Skill + (Specialization+SL+RR maxed at 4*0.5) = 10 dice
Agility + Skill + Specialization + (SL+RR maxed at 4*0.5) = 12 dice
Agility + Skill + Specialization + (SL+RR maxed at 6*0.5) = 13 dice

QUOTE (blakkie)
None of the spirits starting on page 294 have Imunity to Weapons listed, but on p. 177 it says they have it.

As mentioned in the other thread: No need for doing so, it automatically comes with the Materialization Power just as the effects of Hardened Armor come with Immunity ...

What really is missing is a comparable implicit reference to Dual Nature, since p. 176 says that materialized spirits are dual natured, but the Materialization Power lacks any reference to Dual Nature ...
Autarkis
Why would it need to reference Dual Natured in the Materialize ability since it is mentioned in the Spirit description? I would think it would need Errata IF the Materialize ability said that they were not Dual Natured and contradicted the Spirit description.
Cochise
QUOTE (Autarkis)
Why would it need to reference Dual Natured in the Materialize ability since it is mentioned in the Spirit description?

For purposes of "easier finding". If you need to look up the specifics of a critter and it's powers, it'll be likelier that you go checking on the critters section and reading their descriptions plus powers instead of flipping back to the introduction of the Conjuring section about 100 pages earlier in order to find that little sentence on Spirit Forms ...
Toshiaki
A dwarf with maxed out Willpower would need more Stun boxes than the character sheet has room for.

For example, if said dwarf had Exceptional Willpower, they could get Willpower to a natural 8. Then, augmentations could take it up to a 12*. That would require 14 boxes of Stun damage.

* I don't think that there are any Willpower boosting cyber/bio, but I figure there's always drugs, or failing that, the Increase Willpower spell.
