In case people are confused. The Desk Clerk never gave Markus the new floor or the new room, so when Nadia told the clerk to let him up, the npc didn't know if she meant the new room or the old room, so he picked the old room.
and fun was had by all.

What we will do, is you will outline your characters action for each initative pass, and I will do the same with the NPC. If it proves necessary you can than adapt you plan for the second intiative pass, and so on.
Juan, by my SWAG, it will take one combat round for the elevator to arrive where you are, and one more for it to go up to the 16th floor. Let me know if that sounds particularly unreasonable to you.

Tashio. Sorry for being slow with response, I need to do some rules checking. Unfortunately internet access is at work, and whipping out multiple RPG rulebooks is frowned upon. What i'm trying to figure out regards movement. You described Markus as "Moving back". I presume that to mean a brisk backwards walk,rather than a run. Am I also correct in thinking that your distance traveled is divided by the number of initative phases you are taking in an Action? This is to allow me to figure out whether or not the assassin makes it into melee range.
I don't believe there is anything that prevents you from firing your weapon on your phases even if he is in melee with you, but if i'm wrong, someone stop me.

Not quite, it was more like stop, see him, while aiming the gun at him take 2 maybe 3 steps backwards to open a gap to try put myself in a position where I could try fire before he leaped or tried to attack sort of a way to sense if he was there looking for a fight or not instead of just trying to blow him away.
IE out of direct melee range before combat started, where he would have to move to attack, instead of just standing their and taking a jab.
When he attacks then I'll move based on what is needed. But Guardians burst fire is complex action, don't have rulebook here either but I think movement is a simple action so would not be able to "move" at least in terms of normal movement.

Ouch

Thats one thing I'm glad they fixed in 4th ed was this defender gets to deal damage in melee. Either you get hit or you block the attack. In 3rd ed you can end up with a Sami surrounded by a whole bunch of gangers and he'll take them out in one round because his skill is far superior than theirs because he gets to counter attack everything.
As they say never take a knife to a gun fight.

Ok guys. I know that this is probably my fault for being so spotty about posting and I'm sorry, but I am really lost about what is going on in the story right now.
