Musashi Forever:
The meeting has been moved up to today, so we are closer to being done with the job. George and Markus apprehended an assassin at our old suite, and brought him down. Markus called the front desk, and two hotel security men took the assassin away. Now Caitlin, Nadia, and Markus are checking out the conference room, while George stays with the client.

Are we able to get into the actual conference room itself? If it is currently booked, Caitlin will try to arrange to briefly drop by again when it is empty. If she needs to explain herself to a guard, she will be pretty straightforward - she is part of a security detail, doing an obvious part of her job. I can still roll negotiations if needed, though.

Smart asses.
4 points of Karma for Markus (especially for disabling cyber-assassin who should have eaten him for lunch!)
4 points of Karma for George (excellent use of contacts)
4 points of Karma for Nadia (quality roleplaying)
4 points of Karma for Caitling (advancing storyline)
Does anyone want me to do a Time Advance to the time of meeting?

Nadia will stick close to Caitlin and the client. Unfortunately all she has is the form-fitting half-body suit she's wearing under her clothes and a Colt Manhunter pistol in her bag along with two reloads. She's a little nervous, but she's determined to do her best.
Sorry to spring this on you guys, but today I leave for a trip into the SOuth American jungle. I will be back on Saturday.
GM [ Spoiler ]
You can keep the game going if you want, just play Nadia for me. If anything happens in the meeting she'll stick close to the client, if something happens to him she'll stick close to George. In either case she'll try to blast anything that looks dangerous and stay out of melee combat.

What I want to do is work out each combat phase in OOC and than post a complete phase IC. So post your characters actions in the order of your initative. Please describe your actions IC, and explain OOC. I'll use your IC words and incorporate them into the overal phase post. I'll do the second phase, third phase etc, the same way.
To start off with:
As the doors open, the team is confronted with a group of four human men, obviously gangers. They are in two rows of two men each, the first row kneeing, and the second row standing behind them. All are armed with submachineguns, and wearing some kind of armored jacket decorated with gang signs.

@Sicarius
I've two little questions before I declare George's actions. It concerns if you use the rules in Canon Companion or not.
1- High Strenght VS Recoil rule: where a high strenght (8 in case of George) can compensate for 1 point of recoil.
2- Suppressive fire: a form of full auto mode.
The reason I'm asking is that if you do use the suppressive fire rule, thats what George will do. He'll put as much bullets as he can in the area to force the gangers to get some cover and force them to keep their heads down (so that the others can start moving out of the elevator). If not, then he'll go for burst shots.
I'll give you the rolls once you've answered.
Thanks
Tashio

Suppressive can be used although what's good for the goose, is good for the gander.

*chuckle* I was contemplating tossing a grenade and then thought lets not give the GM ideas, an elevator is a bad place to be stuck if one of those goes off
Are these full length doors? or is it posible to get partial cover in the front?
Musashi Forever
May 2 2006, 12:59 PM
By covering the client I am assuming Nadia is in the back of the elevator. Can she see/shoot around the big gun guys or are they blocking the elevator doorway?
Sicarius
May 2 2006, 04:26 PM
the doors open almost the complete width of the elevator. Nobody has any cover them or you.
Mush my interpretation is that Markus is in the back left kneeling, Caitlin is behind him standing, George is at the back left standing, with Nadia behind him standing, with Hobbes beneath her, on the floor.
This would lead me to believe that unless George moves to a kneeling or prone position, Nadia does not have a shot.
Tashio they are less than 5 meters from you.
Grenade.. not recommended.
Mister Juan
May 2 2006, 05:40 PM
Since you said the gangers were 5 meters away, I'll take it the TN is 4 (short range for SMGs).
So George will open fire on the other kneeling ganger (the one Markus hasn't shot).
Simple action 1: Fires a burst
CODE |
TN: 4 (short distance) + Recoil 0 (3-4) + Smartlink II (-2): 2 Original weapon's damage: 6M = 9S + Ex Explosive rounds = 11S Rolls: 05 05 04 04 02 Hits: 5 Staged up damage: 11D with 3 more success left Bullets left in the clip: 29 |
That's gotta hurt
If he doesn't go down, the next burst is for him again. If he does go down, George will then make a few steps out of the elevator, and send a burst to the guy standing behind the ganger he just shot down.
Simple action 2: Fires a burst
CODE |
TN: 4 (short distance) + Recoil 2 (6-4) + Smartlink II (-2) + Multiple Targets 2: 6 Original weapon's damage: 6M = 9S + Ex Explosive rounds = 11S Rolls (+2 dices from combat pool): 10 09 04 04 02 02 01 Hits: 2 (4 hits if he shoots on the same ganger again) Staged up damage: 11D (with 2 more success left if it's the same ganger) Bullets left in the clip: 26 |
Also, concerning his combat pool, George has only 5 dices total (instead of 6), since his highest armor rating (7) exceeds his reaction by 2 points.

Hey, I got no problem with someone eating bullets for Nadia, especially since she's only wearing B-3 armor. I just wanted to know what her options were.

IC: The First thug looks startled that despite having the jump on their targets, the defenders still get the first strike, as Markus' SMG spits lead (well gel) at him. He squirms to get out of the way, but at the short distance and in the compact space its not possible, and a three round burst tears across his chest and shoulder, and he falls to the ground. Tashio turns and fires on his second target.

Hmm we not using overdeadly wounds? In my case Enough successes to increase damage twice over deadly.
If we are then first ganger would have been taken out by the first burst.
Sicarius
May 4 2006, 02:16 PM
overdamage is an additional 1 point of power for every success overdeadly correct?
to be honest i didn't check Tashio, I thought you had figured out the damage code for your appropriate number of successes, and went with that. I can reanalyze if you want me to.
Tashio
May 4 2006, 05:48 PM
Nope extra damage level So L M S D D+1 D+2 etc Staged down normaly 2 successes per category. OverDeadly means +1 box of damage over the top.
So in number 1's case it would be staged from D+2 To D. Second Ganger would have been (assumeing no dodge) D Stun and 2 boxes of physical. (If my memory serves me correctly.
Will check up now.
But its your game, caping damage out at D benefits the players too. Means its harder to get 1 shot kills.
PG 125 Core Rule Book
Rules state +1 damage box per 2 successes when wound level exceeds D, but of course don't state anything about how this damage is soaked down.
So it would either then be a M wound +2 boxes, or you have to stage it down each level above D. Logical seems to point to Each is an additional wound level that needs to be staged down as it's staged up in the same manner, which if I recall is the way most people seem to handle it.
But once again its your call.
Sicarius
May 4 2006, 09:54 PM
right. Under that reading, the baddie would have gone to D+2, and his successes would have been necessary to drop him back to D?
I do not have any problem with that. Expect an edit shortly.

George fires a burst into the kneeling ganger, just as he is recovering from the wound handed to him by Markus. first the sound of the burst, followed by the explosive impact against the targets chest. Pieces of body armor, and human flesh splatter all over the thug behind George's target.
