This is the OOC Board for Initial Shadow Offering.
IC Board for Initial Shadow Offering.
This is for all OOC chat, rolls, and discussion.
Toptomcat, Mister Juan, Gobogen, Musashi Forever, and Glyph are our players, I'm waiting for character sheets from some of you, but I figured I'd post some starting fiction to give you some idea of what you'll be looking at.
Rules: Please Bold PC and NPC names, Italicize thoughts, commlinked or foreign language speech, and put quotation marks around all audioable Speech. I'll try to remember to put the Location and Time at the top of every post, and urge you to do the same.
Note: This is my first attempt at an Online Post Shadowrun. So Please forgive me in advance. If I do make a mistake, please contact me privately and we can discuss it. I am not a very strict GM, ruling in favor of the PCs and the Stories, most of time, so its possible what you think is an error is me fudging. My rule on that is that I only fudge in the players favor, but some people like it stricter. I'm sure we'll find a happy medium.
That being said, 'Run on!

Okay. Those of you who gave me character sheets are in. If you are still interested and haven't sent me one, we'll see about working you in later.
As it is now Musashi, Glyph and Juan, your characters have messages under spoilers. Feel free to write as much as you want about what your characters are doing before, during, and after the call. If you want to utilize a skill, etc, roll the dice in the OOC forum, and put them in spoilers. make sure to tell me what skill or power or whatever your attempting.

As a little side note for everyone: George is an ork, but practically doesn't look like one. None of the facial disfigurement, the prognate jaw, or anything like that. The only thing that flags him as an ork are his teeth: all like small fangs. Beside that, he simply looks like a very tall and large human.
Yea... he's got the "Human looking" edge

George will get to the meet with his bike, arrive about 2 hours in advance, grab some bike magazin and coffee. Being in late september, the weather's probably already getting shitty... so on top of his secure vest, he'll throw his Mortimer coat. George will dress in a professional manner: crisp white shirt, deep red tie, and a grey two piece suit (probably look more like a corporate suit than a street sammie
)
Weapon's wise:

Caitlin will be wearing her secure ultra-vest rather than her secure jacket. She will briefly assense the store to see if there are any wards, spirits wandering around, or an unusual background count.

For clarification Glyph, the NPCs are not there when Caitlin makes her initial inspection, but they are already there when she comes back, 40 mintues early.
Juan, I know you didn't say George were going to the meet yet, I presumed that he was going to his apartment to pick up the items mentioned OOC. If that's not correct, feel free to include in your next post the actions George takes at his apartment before heading over.

P.S. I have never played a character with the leaqdership skill before, so I don't know exactly how it works, but Nadia is trying to set herself up as the person the rest of the team looks to. I know this could cause problems, but I think it is how the character would act. Thanks.

The skill will effect how NPCS (like Hobbes) look towards Nadia, as for the George and Caitlin, their reactions are up to their players.

Caitlin has a high Charisma and Willpower of her own, as well as skills such as leadership, psychology, and HTR tactics, so she would be difficult to impress. I think her reaction will probably be to expect the others to defer to her expertise (magic and first aid), while defering to their areas of expertise (she will probably be more likely to follow George's lead as far as physical bodyguarding is concerned, for example). Right now, all she knows about Nadia is that she is an adept, and that she can handle herself in social situations.

All in all, George is trying to find if there is a backdoor out of the store, and he's willing to bribe the clerk in letting them go tru.
If it works, he'll ask Hobbes to call his driver and have him meet them out back.

George is going to meet the whole gang outside, on his bike. Since he loves his bike more than anything in the world (well, after Judith) he basically refused to leave it in the street any longer than needed. He will follow Hobbes' car.

Does anyone know if the Control Voice power I chose for Nadia is canon or not? I made her using NSRCG and I think it may be out of the pseudo-official Adept Handybook.
Sic: This power seems like it could be very powerful at times, especially with a Charisma of 8 backing it up. I'll try to watch myself with it, but if you think that I'm abusing it please let me know.
Also, if you don't mind the suggestion, you should probably watch what is happening in the game when deciding if it works or not. If Nadia yells at some guy in the middle of a firefight, I would guess that he'd be more concerned about dodging bullets than listening to what some chick is saying to him. Then again, you're the GM, do whatever the hell you want.

Oct 7 2005, 02:20 AM
Mush. I'll keep my eye on it, thanks much. I already as you probably saw made GM-decision regarding it (namely that the NPC takes the order completely literally)
Did anyone ever read the Graphic Novel.. I think it was called Preacher, but i'm not 100%. Guy had the same power, but to the extreme.
Glyph
Oct 7 2005, 03:02 AM
I haven't read the actual Preacher series, but I used to read Wizard magazine, which tends to gush over anything that Garth Ennis does, so I am familiar with it. Definitely the "no saving throw" version.
I haven't heard of the adept power, but that doesn't mean it's unofficial. I think the SOTA: 2064 book had a lot of new adept powers, some of them social-oriented ones.

By the way, I just edited my IC post a bit. I originally had Caitlin asking George a question in the limo, then when Mister Juan posted, I realized that George was actually on his bike, not in the limo.

Sorry if I'm sticking my nose in here.
Commanding Voice is out of State of the Art 2064 its one of the new adept powers, aimed mainly at Social Adepts. So yea it is cannon.
Commanding Voice
Cost: 0.5
This power channels magic into the modulation of the adept's voice. As a result, the weight and importance of the adept's words subliminally influence targeted listeners. An adept with the COmmanding Voice may take a Complex Action and issue a forceful but simple order (three words or less) to anouther character. The adept pits his Charisma against the target's Willpower in an Opposed Test. For each additional individual past the first, the adept suffers a +1 target number modifier. If the adept wins, the taget character takes his next avalible Free or simple action to either obey the adept or pause in indecision (gamemaster's call). The order does not howver carry any weight beyond that immediate impetus, however and determined characters will immediately go about doing what they originally ment to do. This power is usefull for temporarily distracting or flustering opponents.
[edit] Oops left out part of it from next page.
Commanding Voice may only be used on metahumans who can directly hear and understand the adept. It does not work when the voice is aplified or transmitted via technological means 9bullhorn, loudpspeakers, etc). It is less effective on subsequent uses; apply +1 modifier each additional time an adept tries to use Commanding Voice on the same character within a 24-hour period.

There ya go

Well mates, the ball is in your hands now. George hasn't spotted the guy, and since at the moment, we have no means of communication, what happens is up to you.
George will follow the car, where ever it goes, a lot more on alert than he was before (mostly because of the drone)
