Hiya back!
Old man had a few troubles with new tech, but they are solved, now.
With my last IC post, I assume we have discussed everything IC, that we discussed OOC. IIRC, DireRadiant wanted to procede by monday.
I think we had established that Gabe, Mike or Willow (my PC suggests the later) would be leading the negotiation and Cloud & Hikaru (probably one or two of the other top-negotiators, too) would assist. Iīd actually suggest Mike and Cloud to assist Willow - Hikaru didnīt say much to Green, yet, and Gabe did not make a good expression with his funny action. I think more then 3 people doing the negotiations, alltough posible by the book, would be inappropriate.
We have decided, IIRC, to investigate this thing for the Hotel (trying to get as much support -maybe favours and payment, too- as possible, without involving the cops).
Dire said we need to decide to emphasize either support or time, so we need to decide, whatīs more important. Iīd favor support -especilly any information they can give- over time, but we shouldnīt neglegt beeing given more time, just to get a few more bucks out of it.
PS: Everyone who hapens to still have a PM about Si Wuīs background, please send them back to me, as it might hold stuff I had not backed up. Thanks!
Vegas sorry if that PM arrived a dozend times - the 'PM has been sent' page didnīt load correctly and I thought the PM hadnīt been sent - same for amra28.
If you realy did not receive the PM, no big deal, I was just asking to send me back any relevant PMs.

You know as the titular head of the family, the old man should be present at the negotiations. He can introduce Willow as his god-granddaughter and that she will speak on his behalf (if Si Wu has good Cha+Influence or if you don't mind blowing an Edge to boost the initial contact, it would be good, so he can help Willow with the Negotiations). I suggest we have someone (Mike) who can astrally perceive to accompany them. Si Wu doesn't need to actually do anything but look ancient and wise(no problem with that right?)

Just wondering, but Tech vision enhancers dont enhance astral sight right?

I don't think so. And it is Astral Perception, not Astral Sight, but you could try to float it pass DR

When I asked the question I already knew to myself that, logicly, tech couldnt help magical sight.
Toturi thought to have a person that could see astral accompany them and then recommended Mike, I went and looked back in the OCC cause I didnt remember anywhere that Mike was an astral awakened.
Thats when I saw a roll for an astral perception test with a 16 dicepool... IIRC, the dicepool is just Intuition+Assensing(+Edge if spent)
MK Ultra
Dec 12 2006, 03:51 PM
Well, the adept power Enhanced Perception gives bonus-dice for regular perception as well as assensing. And he might also have improved ability, so a regular pool of 16 is possible.

OOC you can presume to have had at least 5 or more minutes in which to settle on basic strategy.
I'll need charisma + SKill rolls from the appropriate characters, including teamwork rolls.

Ok, Iīll make the next IC then, I guess. Iīll probably get it up, either in ~3h or else tomorrow morning my time. Stating that I will pick up responsibility as 'head of the family' and decided, we will handle the situation, then say that my god-granddaughter will sattle the details with Ms. Green, or something like that.
Since I will be participating IC, here is my teamwork roll:
[ Spoiler ]
Charisma (3) + Influence (1) + 1st Impression (2) = 6 dice
[5] 4 4 2 2 [5] Hits:2
2 hits makes 2 bonus-dice for

Willow by what name should 'Uncle Wang' introduce you? We could leave names aside, but I think giving one would be better. You may also want to introduce Mike (by name or by mentioning he is your consultant in this matter), so he is propperly integrated into the negotiation-party.

This is Mike's teamwork roll:
Dice: 4 Chrarisma + 4 Negotiation = [4,1,6,5,5,5,1,2] for 4 Hits.
Link to roll:
http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=774282If this is still the same scene do I have to reroll my astral perception check if I want to be watching her reactions on the astral while Willow talks to her?
Oh, and for the record Mike will still be recording all of the negotiations with Mrs. Green with both his eye and ear recorders. It never hurts to have records of these things...

A familiar name for Willow could be Xiao Liu(little willow, the prefix xiao or little is often tagged on to those younger or of a lower rank).
Some Mandarin primers that may be useful
Grandfather - yeye(paternal grand dad), gonggong(maternal grand dad)
suffix Ge/Gor(cantonese) - elder brother - note most triad member address their superiors as XXX-ge/gor
suffix Jie - elder sister

Okay, you end up with 3 net hits on the negotiations. Hilary Green is a good negotiator, but tonight the luck is running the groups way. And it helps to work together.
What you get
- The Peninsular Group will stall for at least 3 days before acting officially with Knight Errant, which in turn opens them up to working with the various media and other agencies. If the matter is resolved satisfactorily by then, it's expected KE won't investigate any further.
- You get a full copy of the hotels sensor logs for the evening related to public areas and Johnny Wangs room. References that identify any hotel guests directly are edited out. (Obviously, if needed the Peninsular Group can get more info, but the team has to show a good reason.)
- You have permission and appropriate codes to identify yourselves as Peninsular Group temporary employees to external entities. These will expire in three days.
- You get to keep your gifts
- The Peninsular group will provide a secure location in Tsim Tsa Tsui, the local area, for the next three days for the team.
What you must give
- Biometric data and samples, secondarily to link to the Employee IDs you'll be getting, but primarily as a bond
The team members can accept on an individual basis, but obviously any individual not accepting may be treated accordingly...

Feel free to post the prior negotiation and puppet Hialry green as you like as long as we end up with the results posted OOC.
Characters may accept or not as they desire. Obviously FOoey is outside, and some PC may very well not want to accept the terms.
DireRadiant
Dec 14 2006, 05:17 PM
This is a good point for a Roll Call.
Anyone not responding can be considered as PC not accepting the terms, accepting the payment and leaving.
If anyone is still in the game, but IC not accepting the terms, they can keep playing by simply being a team member working with the rest, but without the benefits and conditions the Peninsular group required.

Two net hits probably would have gotten you the gold, 2 days, and a room in the Peninsula Hotel.
One net hit probably would have gotten you 1 day and a deluxe suite at the Peninsula Hotel.

OOC, you may not want to underestimate the support The Peninsular Group can provide. The closest example I can think of for a lot of these high end hotels is to think about all of the ancillary services a very large Las Vegas Casino does, and might theoretically provide to particular guests.
I'm kind of surprised no one asked to use the green rolls royces.
If anyone wants to make appropriate rolls for analyzing the deal offered, you may make an appropriate roll fo your choice.

I'm impressed! According to
the press release, those limos were just put into service yesterday (Hong Kong is a day ahead of me).
I confess. I have never been in a Las Vegas hotel, and I have never been to Hong Kong. Everything I know about Hong Kong, I read in Tai-pan - 40 years ago.
Anyhow, there was no offer to provide ancillary services. Just another reason to keep negotiating.
Please roll Logic + Intuition against whatever threshold you feel is appropriate for analyzing the deal.
Please roll Logic + Corp Matrix Security Procedures to determine whether Fooey thinks he has a chance of getting those logs on his own - or with
Gabe.
I wonder who has the best initiative: Wu, Green, or the Spirit.
No roll required.

[ Spoiler ]
Analyze Deal
2 Hits
- At first blush the deal sounds bad to you personally. In the short term it's certainly better for your health to walk. On the other hand, this Hilary Green woman really fought to not offer the hotel services and cover for the ensuing investigation, and it appeared to be a major concession in the negotiation to get the explicit support of the Peninsular Group, maybe there's a lot more to this at first glance. Of note while you are outside you have noticed the newshound and ambulance chaser matrix icons have been kept out of the hotel, and several parties of guests have left, accompanied by bodyguards, in some of the beautiful green rolls royces the hotel provides for guests.
Matrix Security
5 hits
- With your current access, you could have easily gotten the logs mentioned in the deal, if you had started right away. In the current situation you still think you can, but you think it will be noticed immediately. There are currently some full system scans underway. You also already know there is a problem with the logs not having the data to begin with, which is mysterious to say the least.

Ok,
DireRadiant. Here is a judge intentions roll (which went rather crappy), to asses what Green herself thinks about the conditions she is proposing.
Then there is an Int+Log roll, to judge the deal, that went quiet well.
[ Spoiler ]
Judge Deal: Logic (2) + Intuition (2) = 4 dice
[5] 1 [5] [5] Hits:3
Judge Intentions: Charisma (3) + Intuition (2) = 5 dice
[5] 4 4 2 2 Hits:1
OOC, Iīm inclined to think the deal isnīt that good, unless Green mentioned that they would provide other assistence if needed (Iīm aware that they probably have a lot of clout and contacts, but you did not say they are part of the deal).
Iīm not too weary about giving retina and handprints, but ritual samples suck, IMO.
Also, how do you handle negotiations mechanically? Is this the 1st offer, like
De Badd Ass suggested, or dos this actually represent the final offer that Green would sattle on, after some back-and-forth negotiating (thatīs how I do handle it in my games), which we could either accept or not (except for trading one point for another)?

Without having it explicitly mentioned, the fact that for those days you would be agents of the Peninsular Group means that the teams actions would directly affect the Hotel and vice versa.
