Hey Shadow, when you say "Lake of Fire" do you mean that figuratively? Like, we're in a big honkin' desert or literaly? Like, we're on a desert island in a sea of [Dr. Evil Voice]molten mag-ma[/Dr. Evil Voice]?
Shadow
I belive I said Ocean, not Lake, get it right! *Smacks Kevyb upside the head*

It is just a really big, hot desert.
kevyn668
Ocean, lake, whatever! nyahnyah.gif

Its not like I read the posts anyway grinbig.gif
A Clockwork Lime
There was a post about an ocean of fire? eek.gif
kevyn668
Yeah dude. You flew over it. smile.gif
A Clockwork Lime
Wait, who are you again? And what -- I'm in a game? Cripes. I'm always the last to know these things.
kevyn668
biggrin.gif You and Cosmo. wink.gif

While chilling next to his hut, Cosmo decides to take another gander at the chips he retrieved for the drone. After a few minutes, he seems to have yet another epiphany.

"Uhm..." he begins, unsure of what to really say "...dudes. Uhh, if these time stamps are right, uh, like, well... these drones never saw nightfall for their entire stay here, which was almost twenty-four hours on the dot."

Great. Pitch Black. Reversed. biggrin.gif

As Cosmo's anouncement comes over the radio, Ghost Dragons watcher returns to the recon group. "I cannot enter the temple master, a ward prevents it."

And the plot thickens...Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! vegm.gif
A Clockwork Lime
I say we find any holes in the ground and drop a couple of James' thermonuclear warheads in 'em now while we still have the sun backing us up, then. biggrin.gif
kevyn668
Second!

I'd also like to refer you all to this guide:

[ Spoiler ]

Substitute in the words "Stargate," "Other Planet," "Wormhole," and "Gou'old" as you see fit. smile.gif
BGMFH
And people wonder why I carry so many weapons...

Besides, I posted that list in the main SR form a while back, and it came in handy during my design of James and his gear lists and requests.

10. If the hallways of the operations area are big enough to allow it, I intend to bring along a small field artillery piece as well.
92. I will point out to my superiors that if the corporation/government has enough money to fund an 8 man black ops team, they have enough damn money to buy us a remote controlled robot with cameras that we can send in to scout the area first.
93. My favored method of advance down a dark corridor will be with a five man team, the first man hosing down the corridor in front, the second throwing a grenade, the third hauling the huge cart of ammo and explosives the fourth throwing a grenade behind us, and the fifth hosing down the corridor behind. Take five steps, repeat.
94. My favored method of advance down a well-lit corridor will be with a five man team, the first man hosing down the corridor in front, the second throwing a grenade, the third hauling the huge cart of ammo and explosives the fourth throwing a grenade behind us, and the fifth hosing down the corridor behind. Take ten steps, repeat.
43. I will never negotiate with whatever is trying to kill my team. The dialogue will almost certainly be along the lines of "Me hungry, you food".
39. If I am in a genetic research lab and there are lots of cages whose steel doors have been torn out, I will think about how much punishment those doors could take. Then I will think about how much punishment my frail human body can take. Then I will start thinking about where those exits were.
25. If I hear odd noises, I will not be foolish enough to investigate it alone. I will take a friend. Or two. With big guns.
26. If I am ordered to investigate the noise by my commanding officer, I will take everyone else in the squad with me. By the time we return to where the CO was waiting, the problem will probably have solved itself.
33. I would never enter a dark room. I would throw in a handful of grenades and move on, assured that if anything is still alive in there, it isn't happy.
34. I wont make the mistake of shooting something with my smallest gun first, and then working my way up through the larger firearms. I would start with my biggest gun, and if that didn't work, run like hell.

Finally,
36. If there are women on the team, I will never sleep with them right before a mission. One or the other of us will almost certainly not make it back, and I don't like 50/50 odds.

A Clockwork Lime
Wait, Cosmo's odds will increase to 50%? Dude! Time to pull out some Barry White miniCDs...
kevyn668
That was you? That list is hanging in my office. Next to the "50 Rules of Combat" the "Evil Overlord Top 100" and a sign that says "If you think education is expensive. Try ignorance."

I liked (especially in this situation):

21. If mine is not the first team to be sent into the area, I will take a little time off to wonder why.
34. I wont make the mistake of shooting something with my smallest gun first, and then working my way up through the larger firearms. I would start with my biggest gun, and if that didn't work, run like hell.
60. If the body count is currently over 500, I will politely inform my superiors that an 8 man operations team isn't going to cut it.
76. If I hear a low hissing or moaning directly behind me, I will take off running without thinking. Whatever it is, its first bite of me is going to be ass.
85. If we have prisoners, and one of them is talking to me steadily in a calm voice while staring behind me, I will immediately dive to the side and roll to hose whatever was about to attack me. I will show the same response if a team-member looks behind me with an expression of horror.
97. Warning shots are for whusses. Fire for effect, that's my motto. smile.gif
Leowulf
You know, if you people keep telling Shadow my ideas before I try them, I will be unable to surprise him with them.

Theoretically, since the Earth Elemental would reside on its home plane until called, it could appear at Ghost Dragon's side on the new planet, since, I believe, the Plane of Earth, exists outside of normal space. Whether it is directly parallel is open to debate. I doubt that it is. Consider the Planes of Fire, Air, and Water. How could they be? They simply ARE a dimension of those elements, at least in my opinion. Both I and Ghost Dragon are counting on this, although if it doesn't work, my theory is proven wrong in Shadow's version of reality. It's up to him.

So, what do you think, Shadow?
kevyn668
Hey Guys!!! Guess who has a date for this weekend?!? With a Girl!!

[ Spoiler ]
A Clockwork Lime
Whoa! With a girl? Didn't see that one coming...

And just as a side note, Cosmo can only carry about 140kg on his board while he's on it. So if the stuff he needs to carry is more than that, uhm, well, it's going to take a couple of trips. smile.gif

Me neither! grinbig.gif

How much does Cosmo weigh (or mass)?
A Clockwork Lime
Oh hell, I was looking at the wrong number. There's 170-175kg of Load available for cargo and most of it needs to be strapped on. Cosmo weighs 25kg (about 55 lbs, which is what I was looking at) and has about 5kg of stuff on him at any given point.
kevyn668
Hmmm, I just read your IC. Chase wasn't suggesting that we break camp and pack up. I intended that we'd just throw a few bags of water on the hoverboard. We can leave the shelters and other crap.

BTW, where did the "hoverboard" come from? Rigger3?
A Clockwork Lime
Oh. smile.gif Behold my poor reading skills.

The skyboard is basically just a medium vector-thrust drone with some mods on it. The concept is that it's an underground "extreme" style sport that's becoming popular as of late, sort of a break-neck urban racing thing where competitors race through the concrete jungles and various obstacles at top speed to see who has the most testosterone.

Anyway, if that's the case, he could probably carry one or two daring souls onboard if anyone's up for the ride.

Oh, and I edited my IC post slightly.

I think we're outnumbered.
A Clockwork Lime
Oh now don't be no playa-hatta, girlie. You know you want some of that laid-back oblivious Hawai'ian lovin'. Hairy backs are sex-ay.
Tziluthi
A Clockwork Lime, Os is my character, Chase is kevn668's. Stop confusing them. smile.gif
A Clockwork Lime
I was just testing you.
Tziluthi
Yeah, sure thing, mate. I bet you were.
A Clockwork Lime
All right, time to pull out the Laes...

Don't hate the player, hate the game. cool.gif

Did I mention I have a date this weekend? spin.gif
Tziluthi
No. Really?

Is she good looking?
kevyn668
I think so. And I'm apparenly not alone. Well, not apparently to you folks (sorry about earlier, ladies. embarrassed.gif I was excited). She's a friend of a friend and I'm not the first person to express interest.

Yeah, I'd say she's hot. And smart. And gets my dry humor. We actually just got off the phone (approx. 20 min conversation. Seperate from the first).

Sorry to lay all this out in this forum. I just wanted to tell someone. That's what the OOC is for, right? Snappy Banter and chit-chat...

...and mechanics, too I guess. smile.gif
A Clockwork Lime
Hot chicks are good, smart ones are ten times better, and the ones who get one's dry humor are amongst the best. Excellent job. smile.gif
Tziluthi
I concur. Three cheers for kevyn668. HIP-HIP...
kevyn668

Thanks, guys*.

*"guys" in the nongender context.
kevyn668
Just to let everyone know, I'll be travelling to (Live Free or Die) New Hampshire--where the men are men, the sheep are scared and the squirrels are good eatin'--for the next few days. As such my access to a computer will most likely be limited. I'll be back Firday or Saturday. Later!
A Clockwork Lime
Advanced Mathematics (Task Pool 3): 1 2 14 3 2 5 7 2 2
Math SPU 3 (Complimentary Dice): 5 5 1 1 5 1

That's for Cosmo's attempt to figure out how long a day is on Planet Dirtball.
A Clockwork Lime
I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop this game. Some things come up and I doubt I'll be posting around here much anymore. I'm really sorry about that, and feel free to NPC Cosmo as long as you need to.

Crap. I'm real sorry to hear that. I hope everything is okay. Good luck, omae.
Shadow
Frag.

Ok, let's move on. Consider Cosmo an NPC for now.

An ode to the fallen:

Nine green lemmings standing on the wall, nine green lemmings standing on the wall, and if one green lemming should accidently fall, there'll be eight green lemmings standing on the wall, eight green lemmings standing on the wall, eight green lemmings standing on the wall, and if one green lemming should accidently fall, there'll be seven green lemmings standing on the wall...

smile.gif

Sorry to see you go ACL.
Moonstone Spider
Sorry to see you go Lime, you had a great character.

Did I misread our equipment list? I was under the impression there were 16 canteens and 8 water bags for the group. Was that apiece and that's why everybody managed to have more water than I thought?
crechebaby
everything was 'apiece'. we all got a helmet, all got water, a tent, etc..
basically, one list of stuff for each person on the team.

whether you chose to carry it all with you was up to you, naturally.
Shadow
Are you guys talking and walking, or did you all just meet up and stop?
crechebaby
I assumed we (James, Ran, and GD) waited for everyone to catch up, and now we're just standing there.
kevyn668
That's what I thought too.
Leowulf

As did I.
Moonstone Spider
Okay. Should I then edit my post to remove the faux-pas about the water? Also why do we thus have 24 tents for 8 people?
Leowulf
I don't know. I was wondering the same thing. I just brought 1 on Ghost Dragon.
A Clockwork Lime
Grr.

My wife has brow-beaten me into continuing this game if you'll still have me. "Look, punk," she starts, "all you have to do is stay home, clean the house, and take care of the kid. So you get back on that board and you play that stupid character of yours and keep me entertained at the office or I'll be shovin' my boot up your arse." Feh. Women. Stupid happy fun parts. mad.gif

So, uhm yeah, if you'll have me, I'd like to continue playing Cosmo afterall. <looks over his shoulder with a hint of fear>
Shadow
You left? Huh?

Sumfin I musta ate or sumfin yah.

Welcome back grinbig.gif
Shadow
Ok it is starting to get really hot. You all have been here for about an hour I think. If you don't find shelter soon, you are going to start taking stun damage based on how much Impact armor you are wearing.
A Clockwork Lime
Shadow: Cosmo's trying to figure out when the drones were here relative to the current time. His goal's to check to see if the 24 hour period they were both here coincided with the 24- to 25-hours of daylight this world seems to have. Based upon the times listed in the main thread, my personal calculations don't jive, but I can suspend disbelief if it's so. smile.gif Either way, here's his Math test again.

Advanced Mathematics (Task Pool 3): 4 8 2 2 5 3 5 2 4
Math SPU 3 (Complimentary Dice): 8 5 3 1 3 3

Leowulf: I'm just curious, but why is Ghost Dragon unable to enter the pyramid? Is he dual-natured or something? 'Cause unless something like that is going on, he just needs to drop any active foci or sustained spells to slip past unless I've been horribly misunderstanding the rules all these years. smile.gif
