Without revealing too much...
Ghost Dragon has foci that are physically attached to his body. He'd rather not remove them. For example, the focus that is always on is a force 1 that sustains an improved reflexes +3 spell. That one is a 24k gold nipple ring. He could take it off, but he would have to take off all of his armor just to get to it. Then, he'd probably lose it when the wind blew and put some sand on top of it.
And no, he doesn't have masking - yet.

You don't have to take a focus off to deactivate it, man.

Out of curiosity why are you rolling for an intentional miss? Is there something on the far side of the building you expect to hit?
Also does anybody else feel like we need to work on our decision making process? This feels like it's taking forever.

LinguaSofts (Identify Glyphs): 2 4 4 1 1 7

Just to clarify, the first roll is to see if Cosmo recognizes any of the runes while cross-referencing them with all the ancient runic languages on his clustersoft. The second is to actually read any of them that he does recognize.
As for the decision-making bit, yeah, it seems to be doing all right so far. I'm sure if things turn sour, we'll actually start respecting the militant guy. But for now, we're pretty sticking to our guns in reference to our specialties. Especially with some of the odd suggestions going around. Yanno, like blowing up a huge crystal before knowing exactly what it is or, more importantly, what the reprecussions will be by doing so.

Echo that.
I hear you on the Sam Elliot voice but Chase just doesn't see James as a much of an authority figure. The bit with firing off the cybergun in the air burned the credit James had earned since the last spat.
I can't speak for the other characters but Chase thinks of himself as hardened vet, too. I think justifiably so. I did come up with his background.

While Cosmo's waiting for the others to figure out what they're going to do after checking to see if the disturbance occurs again when he approaches the door, he's going to back off and start fiddling with his Personal Comm Unit behind the safety of Chase (and don't worry, man, he's going to work on that Troll sign for your back soon enough). Basically, he's setting it up to quickly scan through a huge array of radio signals to see if any of them trigger anything on the door. Dunno what to roll if anything, but here's an Electronics Test with Theoretical Cryptography as a Complimentary Skill if it helps any, just in case...

Chase will switch over to Low Light or needs be, will swap the tinted goggles for the thermo ones. Depends on the light available.
As the possiblity of combat rapidily increases, I've noticed that several of our characters have Small Unit Tactics. Anyone plan on using them? I believe that Whisper (oddly enough) has the highest rating...

2 people have SUT4 and one has rating 5... Realistically, we should have a few turns of conflicting orders, per the rules till someone establishes their place as the tactician... and not necessarily the person with the 5... better results = better tactician of course.
Moonstone Spider
May 19 2004, 03:20 PM
While my character has SUT I don't think Torque can use it in combat with the others to do anything but add to his combat pool for dodging, he doesn't have any reflex augmentations so he'd never managed to get any orders out before the others had already finished, even if he wanted to.
How many turns do you think combat will take BGMFH? In games I've played before 3 turns was a long battle, most were finished within an init-pass or 2.
BGMFH
May 19 2004, 04:52 PM
Depends on whether people say "hah, a Light pistol does at most 9L" and stand around, or whether the character says "holy crap, a bullet" and realistically takes cover.
SR combat tends to be quick with the former, exhautive with the latter.

Here's the rolls for Cosmo's info sortilage of the glyphs. It'll take about four hours assuming base times, so it's not going to be a sudden revelation. Just something he's sort of working on in the back of his mind, so feel free to adjust as usual.
Assuming, of course, whether or not this would even work here.
Data Mining Time: 1 hour, base TN 4
Simple Data Mining of the Glyphs (Task Pool 3): 9 1 2 5 3 8 1 1 5 5 5 5 3
Info Sortilage (Complimentary): 5 8 3 5 7 1 2 9 1 9
Relevant Modifiers: Effectively using terminal mode (+2), appropriate Channel 6 or higher (-1), not sure if the Ancient Languages clustersoft counts as an appropriate knowledge skill, but if it does (-2).
If five successes were obtained, continue. If not, no insight is gained.
Info Sortilage Time: (5 1) hours divided by 2 = 3 hours
Info Sortilage Results: 4 2 2 11 2 1 2 3 3 1
Woulda done this in a PM, but psychotic reprecussions from such things in another game recently has scarred me to the point where I refuse to hide rolls anymore.
