Besides, to run both of those chips simultaneusly, you'd need a set of 'wires with a minimum ASIST rating of 6 and a pulse rating of 147 or higher, which'll set you back 529,200 and 1.2 Essence as basic cyberware. Not to mention the 'softs themselves, which will cost 44,100 just for those two. |
Yep
Goddamit, NSRCG just erased half my character.

Okay. Nikoli has a point and I'll get everything set up for the DCRS tomorrow morning. I have play practice tonight or I'd do it now. I have a parser to try and take everything from a .sr3 file from the NSRCG and drop it into my database which is what I was hoping to test with all of your characters, too, so you won't have to enter everything into my system after you enter it into mcmackies!

Speak of the devil
.....
CorbinHellcowIkarusLynxSlashTraceOkay, there are the links for your characters on the DCRS. Everyone but Trace, please go into the system and check your gear and stuff. See if there are any errors. I think my .sr3 parser is working okay, but I'm not positive. TinkerGnome -- to save a little space in my database I combined your grenades into 1 line (so it'll say 5 minigrenades or whatever). When we get to the point that you're actually loading your alpha with many and varied grenades, I'll hopefully have updated the DCRS with the power to make a note of that
Shadow: Since trace was sent to me in a word document, I couldn't import him, but if you would log onto the system and edit him to enter all of your stuff.
Your editting passwords for your characters are the name of your character followed by the number "1". I'll probably change that once the game gets started and PM you with the passwords to avoid other people messing around with your character but for now it's good enough
I'm probably just paranoid, but whatever.
One thing I noticed: Slash has two things in the "under" position of his assault rifle. Correct me if I'm wrong but you can't have both a stock and and underbarrel weight attached to the same gun. Pick one and we'll go with it
Also, weapon accessories (recoil compensation and laser sights, etc.) won't appear on your gear list. I moved them to the descriptions of your gear which don't appear on your record, yet. I'll work on that eventually, probably tomorrow since I need it now and I'm the designer of the damned thing!!!!
If you need any changes made to your character on the DCRS and can't figure out my system, let me know and I'll get to it tomorrow.

Mine shows SQL query errors at the bottom

May 19 2004, 05:55 AM
I edited the descriptions of a few contacts to make them what they're supposed to be.
Why do we get all those little red X's next to every equipment item? It would also be alot easier to read if you shifted the Edges/Flaws and Contacts over just a little to make room for the skills. Just a few nits to pick
You could also do the same thing for clips that you did with grenades.
TinkerGnome
May 19 2004, 12:20 PM
I'm glad to see that you understand my reasons for having clips and grenades spread out
NSRCG doesn't let you have 10 of an item and carry 5 of it, so I broke them down.
I'm having the trouble everyone else is with the SQL error and the Xs
I can see the potential for making just about everything on the sheet clickable and dropping into statistics and notes on it. It'd also be nice if the sheet didn't blow so much real estate on all of those things that I don't have like edges and flaws and spells, but I'm sure that would take a lot of work.
All in all, Dash, the page looks pretty solid. I'm sure Corbin is a good test for its ability to accept 3 billion lines of gear and cyber
I absolutely love the gear editing page, by the way. Now if gear could just be associated with other gear (ie, Medkit supplies listed with the medkit) manually.
[edit]Dash, it'd be nice to see race on the sheet, though.
#6, I doubt you wanted to buy all of those chips as Datasofts. Activesofts are MP x 100
, datasofts are MP x 150
. I'd wager you overspent by several thousand
for you on that one. I also think you did might want more than two ports (and you should certainly have the cash if you change from datasofts to activesofts). The number of ports is the number of chips you can have going at one time.
And I am so not standing next to you signature 4 guys when the drones pop out.[/edit]

May 19 2004, 01:59 PM
I know about the SQL errors and the X's. I'm in the middle of stretching the columns and providing more space as we speak (literally, I took a break from coding to check the boards!!) so that should be done by this evening. As for the race on the screen -- I haven't even been recording race, but it shouldn't be that hard to add to a table somewhere. Hard part is fixing all of the other characters who didn't have it before but that's the other GM's problems
I can work on that one. As for gear being associated with other gear, that's what the description of the gear field is going to be for, but I haven't fixed the record screen enough yet to display the descriptions. So for you medkit, the description could say 2 units medkit supplies. Then, when you use one up we'll just edit the description to have 1 unit medkit supplies and it's all good. As for grenades and such, I'm working on a quantity field in the DCRS so that you can say I have 5 minigrenades total, carried 4 and dropped 1 and the database will know what all of that means. Whew --- long paragraph and a long day of coding. Good thing I enjoy this stuff.
I noticed the bit about the datasofts, too, #6 as I was doing all of this last night but forgot to post about it. If you want to change them all to active softs and resend me your updated .sr3 that would be good. That way you can use up the money you save on your own.
I hope to get this game started tomorrow or tonight if I can get everything squared away that I want to with the DCRS.
I'll be back later to check in. Does anyone else have any questions for me?

Goddamit. Alright, fixing it now.
I started with 3 ports, but ditched one. The problem right now is more ASSIST rating than anything else. With 3 ports I could run 3 chips at rating 2 each, maybe stretch it to rating 3 each with a PlusCode1. With 2 ports I can run 2 chips at rating 4 with a PlusCode1, plus I save
32,000 in not buying the CED and 3 port chipjack for a third chip and lots more by lowering the skillwires pulse code. I don't really see only 2 slots as a problem since I have a datajack/mentally controlled Jukebox. I can keep whatever combat skill I need loaded, and one spare skill.
Yeah, 4 beta grade ports with full CED's would be nice
When I get new Skillwires maybe.....
EDIT: Hmm, I changed it and the activesofts came out to the same price as datasofts.

Woah, I think I edited out the important part of that post. For ports, I meant the jukebox. You only had 2 ports on it when I looked.

May 19 2004, 07:44 PM
Hm, ok, that's probiblaly a mistake on my part, just drop the stock, sorry about that, i didn't realize they were both on the under barrel. OH well, its only one RC, but yeah, i'm going with just the underbarrel weight.
Number 6
May 19 2004, 07:50 PM
Yeah, I only have 2 chipjacks though. I use the Datajack primarily for controlling the Jukebox on a run. I figure if I ever upgrade the multi-port chipjack, i'll buy a new Jukebox at the same time.
Modded character is off, hopefully complete this time.
TinkerGnome
May 19 2004, 07:57 PM
Stocks don't take a mount, I don't think.
Oh, and a jukebox can only hold a number of chips equal to the number of ports it has (which is what I've been trying to get at). So with 2 ports, you could only have 2 chips in the jukebox at a time. With 10 ports you could have 10 chips in the jukebox at a time. A single jukebox still only provides 1 output (so if you wanted to have 2 chips slotted at the same time, you'd need them to be in seperate jukeboxes or a jukebox and straight into a second chipjack).
Nikoli
May 19 2004, 07:59 PM
Actually, the 'ports' is for how many chipjacks you are connecting it to. # of ports = # of skills, the MP is where teh skills can be stored. hence the pricing scheme, ports*mp*20
I remember reading this in a FAQ or a Q & A somewhere, but cannot find it atm.

Yeah, my understanding was that Ports=how many skillsofts you are using at once. Also that MP is the maximum MP in use by each port. That's how one of the designers described it on an older forum, unfortunatlly all I have is a printout here of the text. I'll see if I can find the original.

IC ThreadIC Thread posted. If you would all please put your character's name in your posts somewhere so that we can tell each other apart. Also, post what time of the day you receive your messages so that I can get a sense of who has how much time to do what they want to do before the meet. If no one has anything to do between message reception and the meet, we'll just move forward.
Also, I'm assuming that people at the meet, with the exception of Trace, will either (a) know each other or (b) know each other by street rep. If anyone wants to, post in the IC thread if you know one of the others. I'm not too worried about the background of the characters for this run, but if anyone wants to have worked with someone else on the team before, it's cool for me.

Gotcha. His first course of action is going to be to park a bit away and watch the place for a little while, seeing who comes and goes. That done, he'll do a drive-by and check out the physical layout of the place. If there's a back alley, he'll be interested in that, as well.
He'll park a block away or so and dig his disguise kit out of the back of the Brumby and make himself look like a completely different person (human, if nothing else) and leave his Predator in the Brumby. He'll also remove the longcoat and take any illegal or obvious gear out of his pockets (he'll hang on to his shock glove). He straight chips a Negotiations chip and approaches the place and tries to get inside.
He'll gamble (and probably loose) about 50
worth of cred and leave.
His main objective is to get a layout of the place, inside and out. I'm not going to be at all upset if he watches people for a bit and comes home without going in. He's only going to try that if he really thinks he can.
If he's challenged by the bouncer, he'll give him a smile and try to chat his way through. His cover story is simply that he met a guy in a hotel bar that said this was a good place to waste some time while he's in town.

Sorry for the slow Saturday -- I should have warned you all. My weekends are busier than my weeks, so the game usually slows to a crawl on Saturday and Sunday since I have a lot of volunteering that I do on the weekends. However, I'll be in when I get the shot even on the weekends and it's all good during the week. Anyway, on with the show.

He saw the doorman and some people that were probably employees of the Jack that were "watchers" -- people hired to watch for cheaters. But no obvious active security. Cameras and what not were visibly located in and around tables focused in multiple directions.
