Happy Monday all!
Ok let's get posting guys and gals so this thing can get rolling again.
Dire Radiant it's time to show us the leader shiny you have in ya!
DireRadiant
Apr 24 2007, 05:23 PM
Well, "S&k" isn't explained much in the IC thread... and the ooc thread I don't have that much time for reading through.
But I'm sure someone will explain. In little words for the little person.
HeySparky
Apr 24 2007, 05:37 PM
S&K = shooting and killing... and actually we have only been through one firefight together OOC... so we don't have the procedures defined amongst us. IC the characters are all gelled and used to how Dakota ran the team.
If you like you can have Knocker have read Dakota's after-action reports and riff off of that based on how Knocker likes to work within a team.
OOC, we can brainstorm about what we think is best.
- Cirio, you have drones? Anyone else? Charlotte doesn't have any.
- Who's got astral surveillance covered? Rather - who's the volunteer to keep an eye out Astrally - Charlotte can, but her knowledges don't support identifying astral bogeys.
- What is the first order of business when things go hot in:
A. Close quarters, melee combat
B. Ranged combat
C. Mixed combat
D. Heavy magic
E. Magic supressed
F. Ordinance
G. Spirits
- We should probably match casters up with mundanes/adepts for Counterspelling. Buddy up as appropriate, if there's an odd man out the person with the best inherent spell resist traits (or the MR Quality) should be that person... that's WIL and BOD yes? Charlotte has WIL 4 and BOD 6.
Other stuff?
DireRadiant
Apr 24 2007, 07:56 PM
Ah, well, all of that stuff... easy enough, but of course if someone would kindly start it off IC we can have some fun with it!
Cirio
Apr 24 2007, 10:27 PM
Yes,
Cirio has several drones, and some hacking skills. Don't put him in a firefight, though.
BishopMcQ
Apr 25 2007, 12:22 AM
Keeping the ball rolling in the IC.
No drones here.
Astral surveillance depends on the bogey--but can be divided between Whizbang and I. For assensing a target, Sparky, you are probably going to be the best.
I can hold my own in Magic support and ranged combat. Spirits will fall on Whizbang, as I haven't gotten around to that yet.
Mickey is going to be best out of combat when talking to people and getting information or getting past guards without violence.

Knocker has an iBall and a Renraku Stormcloud.
Stormcloud might be useful if she gets kicked out the chopper.

Yi is the melee specialist with light ranged skills (shurikens and poison). Pretty atheltic and her skills focus more on the uderworld side of things.

I'm right in thinking the foundation has good files for everyone, and we have access to the basics for each other?
Knocker is probably best described as the heavy weapon element of a small infantry team. In a three or four person team she'd be the one with the big gun.

So, obviously I've been a bit quiet, but you guys seem so involved with what's going on...
So, just checking, do people want me to jump in, or are you planning on running the little combat sim thing? I don't mind, I'm fine either way, I just want to make sure I'm not needed XD

I think the first order of business is to set-up a base of operations.
Have we figured out:
a) Yolandra's part,
b) the disposition of the CorpWars sites,
c) whether we were going to start at the old site of Timbuktou and scan,
d) what the hell Knocker is saying

Good outline and I like the ready to go angle, being an action junkie I am all for being shot and hitting people to achieve our goals.
Let's get the simulation done and covered so we can get back to the main action of the run. Lead us on DireRadiant!

Languge is a pigeon of French and Bambara. If you speak French, you can communicate, but with a -1 dice pool penalty. If you speak Bambara you're fine. Any other local African dialect (spoken somewhere nearby) will get you speech but with a -1 dice pool penalty.
I'll need specifics on how you're setting up a base camp, what you're doing with the plane, and the next step, as well as responding (however you're going to) to the NPC.
This game will live!

Squinting at the speaker, Assensing Speaker, 15 dice:

Charlotte, knowing the mission, did her homework, Bambara 2. Not great. But better than nothing.

Stormcloud - Radio: no traffic besides your own.
visual: Around 2 score people, several of them with weapons, rifles of some kind.
Knocker - Visual: 35 people, about a dozen carrying some kind of automatic rifles.
Bishop Visual: Almost every person standing there seems to be wearing some sort of small fetish or talisman, whether it be a collection of feathers, animal claws or teeth, or an odd looking bundle of plants. Your knowledge skill will tell you that most of these items aren't actually magical, but are simply symbols of their belief, like Christians wearing crosses. One of the six men that stepped forward with the rifles, however, is wearing a much more elaborate necklace, with series of interlocking chains and small bundles, mostly hidden by his shirt. He stands just to the right and behind the speaker. This is probably the village or tribes shaman.
Charlotte - Assensing spirit: The spirit is healthy. The spirit's emotional state is protective and wary because of the arrival of you and your crew. The spirit is force 8. There are also no astral signatures of a summoner on the spirit, only it's own. It is a spirit of the earth.
You understand what was said, nothing too complicated or technical. Go ahead and give me a Bambara + Intuition roll if you're responding in that language.
HeySparky

Sparky - My apologies, for some reason I didn't even see the assensing rolls for the speaker, all focused on the spirit. ;P
Speaker - Healthy, but a bit malnourished. He's 1 part curious, 2 parts worried, and 3 parts suspicious, all at this point because of you. No cyberware, essence is 5. There are no astral signatures on the subject, no cyberware/bioware, no actual diseases.
Buddha - You get the feeling that while they're not outrightly hostile, it wouldn't take alot for them to get there. They seem distrustful.

As a player, I'd say kill them all if they give us reason, but until then let them continue to cycle oxygen.
As the character, let's avoid the S&K model as long as possible. We have to be in these folks land for awhile and they may just have enough cousins to make this little shindig seem like a cocktail party in comparison to the world of hurt the families would bring down on us.

Sparky - As a general rule, I allow 3 options for dealing with NPC's:
1 - roll dice, modified by situation, and see how the character's skill plays out.
2 - role play and roll dice, modified by situation and what I thought of your speech
3 - Role play, and take a chance I'm feeling generous ;D
That said, feel free to toss some negotiation dice with your next response, if you want.
