Since I have been in a few of these play by posts, and most of them have died (minus Maffia Affair, which is doing very well) I wanted to see if I could start running one and see where it goes..

Backstory: For the last three months you have been working for Mobius Gentronics, a small bioware corp based out of Fort Smith, a city in Arkansas. You were on 'payroll' as a team (along with several other shadowrunners) Mobius tended to hire runners based of thier creativity, inqinuity, and professionalism. They also had thier own goon squad, for when things required a bit less of that said professionallism.

Its the last day of your 'contract', one last run for them and you are own your own, with 15,000 nuyen.gif in your pockets.

Requirements: Point Buy, 130 points. Humans get two free contacts. Everyone gets 10k after character creation (dont roll for money). Also If during character creation you have less than 10k to spend, you dont need to divide it by ten for starting cash, just leave it as is.

Im looking for characters that arent lightning fast killers, personality is a plus, backgrounds would be nice, remember you currently live in CAS. Deckers and Riggers are welcome to join, but no Otaku. Shapeshifters are also okay, but i would prefer them to be mundane if they are going to be used.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Submit characters by PMing me, or mailing them to phelious_fogg@yahoo.com
Digital Heroin
Hmmm... a corporate complacent Rigger a bit worried about not having his corp parent around anymore might be fun.
Panzergeist
I'll play a shaman of some sort. I'll have the character created by tomorow evening at the latest.
phelious fogg
Oh yeah, everyone gets thier normal two contacts, humans just get two extra free contacts (making it four contacts)

Additionaly, Availability 8 and Rating 6 for all gear, Max force 6 for all magic stuff. If you want something special, just ask
Digital Heroin
If I might ask, why the contact boost for humans? Seems kind of meta biased...
Fallon_Blackthorne
Have to agree with Heroin on that one man. Metahumanity is getting robbed man. Have a hermetic that I'll send you as soon as I get it on the puter...
Digital Heroin
*still working on the Dwarf rigger*
Panzergeist
Well, I assume the reason for the extra contacts is to make up for the fact that the human karma pool bonus doesn't help at all on one-shot missions like this.
phelious fogg
Panzergeist answered your question for me, since their karma pool boost probably wont come into play, i still wanted to give them something.
Digital Heroin
Well, if this is to be just a one shot deal, then I'm going to withdraw... I'm looking for longer term games, as I thought the title of this thread implied...
phelious fogg
It like it to be multiple adventures, but humans should have a bit of a boost in the beginning, before karma pool comes into play.
I dont think two extra contacts is going to be game unbalancing in any aspect after a few adventures.
Digital Heroin
It's your call, but consider that someone playing a meta has to spend 5 or 10 build points to start with, which is at the very least a loss of a potential nuyen.gif 15k. On top of that, if they want those contacts, there's another nuyen.gif 10k gone, and they still gain Karma pool half as fast as humans...

I'll consider a character, we'll see how my time constraints are...
Bearclaw
C'mon guys. It's not taking something away from meta's, it's giving something to humans. It's not like trolls are getting anything less than they normally do. Just that humans are getting extra. Only a little extra. The extra contact edge is only one point, so it's a 2 build point bonus for playing a human.
Grey
Yeah, seriously, I don't see what the big deal is.

And I feel like throwing my hand in as a Decker. Its been a while since I played one. Are there any special rules I need to know about how you work Decking?
Panzergeist
So that gives us a shaman, a hermetic, a decker, and a rigger. Bearclaw, how about you? You thinking of playing, or just perusing the thread? We need at least one physical combat type to do our dirty work.
Bearclaw
Crap, I was working on a combat decker/techwiz guy. I'd just come back to the site to post that, and I got distracted by the Checkmate thread frown.gif
OK, I'll change tracks and do a pain distributer of some type.
Grey
You can still be a techie. Deckers do computers, techies do electronics and security systems. And having two techs isn't a bad idea anyways.
Bearclaw
I'll go the b&e expert route then. Big stealth, athletics, electronics and b&r. May as well be able to fight as well biggrin.gif
Grey
Thats my favorite type of character, but I've got like 3 of them going already. I haven't played a Decker in ages (though I have played a Otaku recently).
Panzergeist
Okay, so here's the lineup:

Panzergeist: Shaman
Heroin: Rigger
Fallon: Mage
Grey: Decker
Bearclaw: Covert Op

We could use one more meat shield type, but we don't need one. So, as soon as the five of us get our characters PMd to phelious, I'd say we're ready. Another gunner would be nice, but I don't see the need to wait for one.
Bearclaw
With 2 mages, I'd say we've got a pretty good bit of firepower.
phelious fogg
I like the way this is shaping up. Thats a particularly good team too. The idea is to have a team a bit lacking on the combat side, so as to make things more interesting, and where getting shot at might be a bit scarrier than normal.

Grey: I work deckers like the core books. I dont tend to deviate from them much, unless there is some house rule you like.
Digital Heroin
Gonna be working with Grey possibly on character colaboration, build a mobile command post for the team... if anyone has anything they'd like to see my try and get in it, send word here and I'll see about fitting it in...
Panzergeist
Get a humungous VW-Kombi. Make it a mobile drone launcher, APC, decking base, and medical clinic. With a light naval mortar. And a shamanic lodge and permanent hermetic circle. Oh, and give it the ability to transform into a humanoid robot with a laser sword on command.

On a more serious note, you might want to give it some signal amps or whatever that give you the power to increase device flux ratings beyond the usual vehicle body limit. And if you could make th mobile command center a hovercraft, that would be sweet, because we could go on water with it. I could turn the whole thing invisible with improved invisibility, but doing that on a road would be a very bad idea. Oh, and bearclaw, perhaps you misunderstood me. When I said gunner, what I really meant was human shield. grinbig.gif

So, let's get this game started. Try and get your characters ready by wednesday morning. At the rate we are going, it would take us weeks to finish 4 turns of combat.

phelious fogg
Wow, Panzer's doing my job again.. I thought I was supposed to be getting on everyone to get thier characters in.... smile.gif
Grey
Damn, I forgot how much a good deck costs. If I have all the stills and the shop to make my own deck, do I get any sort of discount? 75% of my money went into the deck and that doesn't even include programs.
Bearclaw
Sounds like you need more money biggrin.gif
Grey
Thats when I take a million. Unless I can take 60 points on 2 Million. biggrin.gif love.gif grinbig.gif
phelious fogg
Ill let you spend 60 points on two million, sure.. If you want others can donate leftover money for you progs and stuff.. i dont mind that
Grey
What is the max edges\flaws?
kevyn668
You guys closed? I haven't played a sam in a while.
Bearclaw
OK, Rover aka Frank Farmer has been sent. He can disappear in the middle of an empty football field, and scoffs at any attempt to keep him out of anywhere. He's also pretty good at melee, but don't expect him to BS his way past anyone.
Panzergeist
We could use a samurai, sure. You're welcome to join the game, provided you can get your character finalized and submitted fast. We'd like to start this game by tomorow evening at the latest.

And Grey, how can you spend 750k on a deck without going over an availability of 8? Do the custom-ordered deck rules allow a deck to be that expensive and still be available at startup?
Grey
Hey Panzergeist, I'm just wondering, are you running this game, or is phelious fogg? You may want to wait for phelious fogg to decide if he wants another player or not. And quit rushing me. Digital Heroin and I are working on a background together. When we are satisfied with it, we'll let you know. As for the custom deck, when a character has the skills to build their own, its assumed there is no avilibility, cause they make it all themselves. Ok? Do you have any other questions that the GM should be asking and not you?
phelious fogg
Panzer: Hold up, Id like to start as early as anyone else, but we probably wont start till later, I want good characters not rushed ones
(Yes, I am running this game, just apparently not this thread)
Oh yeah, I need a background

Grey: Max 4 edges/flaws, 6 points leaning either way. remember the rating on the deck is still max rating 6, which means MPCP 6 max.. just do you know. If you want more than a million nuyen, you can buy 30 points of money and then whatever other points of money you need after that (that should be sufficently expensive to prevent muchieness)
Also if you build your deck, you can buy it at 75% projected cost, but I have to approve the deck first.. gah...

Kevyn: You are welcome to join, and a Sam would be helpful, but Muscle isnt the primay importance here, as the company would have hired that out to its goon squad. (I am looking for specialist type cracters rather than combat ones) Anything you want to submit will probably be okay though.

Digital Heroin
*working on the Rigger atm* What's the your take on avaliability with custom built vehicles? I'm not talking a tank here, but a modified RV most likely... or something of the like...
phelious fogg
If you only want to mod a currently existing car, feel free, but if you want to create a new type of car, then I need to approve it, and its not going to be unique to your character, since a car is very hard to build, compaired to a deck.
Digital Heroin
Well, I'm looking at having him have a couple vehicles, but the main one'd be an RV which I'd design, asuming it was an older model that he stripped down and re-built back in the past...
phelious fogg
Okay, I can see the RV.. just give me stats for it sometime
Panzergeist
Wait, you mean you can build your own deck at character creation, regardless of how long it takes? Damn, if I had known that, I my decker character a couple years ago wouldn't have sucked so much.
Panzergeist
Sorry phogg, I should have let you answer that question. Just assumed that the game was still open since you hadn't announced it's closing.

As for the RV, there is an Rv version of the Volkswagon Superkombi in Rigger 3. 2 bucket and 5 bench seats, body 4 armor 1. Give it some concealed armor and rip out 3 of the bench seats, and you'll have a well-armored vehicle with room for anything. I'm not familiar with the rules for making custom vehicles, but I think a modified kombi would be cheaper. It depends on what you mean by command center I guess. I assume you intend to store and operate all your drones from the vehicle, and have grey deck wirelessly from it?

Also, it just occured to me that Fallon and I might want to do a little coordination of our own. So, here's my spell list for him to peruse. s for totem bonuses, I'm a rat shaman.

Improved invis 5 fetish
manabolt 5 fetish
stunball 6 fetish exclusive
treat 5 fetish exclusive
powerbolt 6 fetish exclusive
magic fingers 3 fetish exclusive
clairvoyance 4 fetish exclusive
clairaudience 4 fetish exclusive

I've tried to get a well-rounded arsenal that would provide the team with all the basics. The only major gap in my spell list is mental manipulation. If you could just get control thoughts, we will be golden. If you have any feedback, go ahead and let me know. pumpkin.gif
kevyn668
No problem. My sams are a little different than the run of the mill sort. More like Spec Forces. Medium cyber/bio mods, one MOS-combat, in this case. One secondary MOS-probably B&E to back up the main B&E guy, in this case. I'll get some numbers to you by lunch time tomorrow at the latest.
Bearclaw
Faster faster faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Digital Heroin
fogg: I'll toss you the breakdown of the specs for the RV with my character, should be tonight, I'm getting most of the afternoon off.

Panzer: Honestly, can you lay off with telling people how they should have their characters, or how fast, etc. I know how to play a rigger, I know how to make a rigger, I've just been busy with the course I'm on, and running my game...
kevyn668
Going as fast as I can!!

I don't have anyone to coordinate with frown.gif

Not you, everything biggrin.gif
I wanna play.
OK, really, I've just had a lot of coffee and work is really slow, so I'm bored.

Is there any help I can give you?

kevyn668
Not really. I have the char about 85% done b/c I'm basing him off a char that never got off the ground. I just have to do some brainstorming on background and contacts. And buy some more stuff. Is everyone going to (have to?) be from the CAS originally? Or could we have grown up/be based out of somewhere else?
It won't change much of char either way, I'll just be a little vaguer on locations.
Bearclaw
Rover's from Seattle. Worked for Fuchi. Bailed during the corp wars, when his division was bought up by Novatech.
Now, he lives in Downtown Ft Smith, on 5th, near Slims Burgers and Beer.
kevyn668
Cool. My guy's from Seattle (now I know he can be wink.gif ) He did some merc work, small unit infiltration stuff mostly--think Die Hard III.

Thanks, dude. I forget how much easier it is to brainstorm w/ other people than by your lonesome. smile.gif

Did we (the team) come as a package or we were hired piecemeal?

Is our decker/rigger team using BattleTac?
Grey
I don't know about the DH using it for his drones, but it isn't useful for a decker unless he has other deckers going in with him.
