Actually things are a little more complicated thanI thought so I will be going in for a non-invasive procedure early Thursday to deal with the kidney stone. So if everything goes as plan (which it should) I will be back up and running early the following week. I'll make sure someone posts here how things are going since I will be heavily drugged at that point. Thanks for hanging in with me through this and I really appreciate your patience.
Redjack
Good luck.
Redjack
Anyone else gonna post up while we wait for Buddha's return?
BishopMcQ
Buddha said he'd prod Fenris to get in here. Any display screens that you can use to show JxJxA?
Redjack
IF you rule I have a display screen on my com then yes.. otherwise no..
BishopMcQ
If it's not an implant, then yeah you can have a small screen--think Cell phone size. A Computer + Logic (1) test will let you hide any UI stuff and just show the picture. I'm sure you can buy the hit...
JxJxA
Wish I could roll something to ID it but I didn't think far enough ahead to purchase metaplanar threats. x_x

FYI-Huitilcoatl is my made-up word mixing huitzil (hummingbird) with coatl (serpent), so think of a little garter snake with hummingbird wings hovering about the area as Uetz's watcher spirit. smile.gif
Fenris
Flinx! You have Flinx!

But anywho, alright, sorry for the delays. I'm married to Buddha, so things have been a little up in the air while he's been recovering. I'm back, however, and definitely looking to get things rolling again. I think the same goes for Buddha wink.gif

Gear!
[ Spoiler ]
Buddha72
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a great meal and a great time with friends & family!

P.S. I am indeed on the mend and I will be throwing up a post this weekend to get back into the game.
BishopMcQ
Psst, Fenris, I think you forgot something. Rhymes with "ommlink"

smile.gif happy thanksgivig all!
JxJxA
LOL, wow, how have I not read those books? Thanks for the heads-up, Fenris. smile.gif

Happy Thanksgiving!
BishopMcQ
RedJack--Can you throw Intuition + Intuition for me?
Buddha72
Ok back and all done with the kidney stones!! *does happy dance*

First I don't think I ever saw any reply to my skill roll a few posts back about Metaplanar Traits to figure out more about where we are.

Magical Threats (about the things in the tunnel)
1,6,3,6,5,6,3 (4 hits)

Parazoology (about the things in the tunnel - not sure which skill is more suited so pick which applies)
6,5,5,1,2 (3 hits)
BishopMcQ
Buddha--

Sorry. Metaplanar Threats - There are many realms which have underground caverns. Given the source of the gateway, and the creature that you have seen, it appears that you are in one of the Plagued lands, ruled by the Sluagh.

Magical Threats -- The tentacles are a clear aberration on the creature and highly unnatural. They may have a separate entity in control of them than the beast itself.

Parazoology -- Basic creature appears to be a hellhound which traditionally can breathe fire, run faster than a human, and is roughly as hearty as a healthy man.
Redjack
Intuition(4) + Intuition(4) = [3,6,3,2,4,4,5,5] = 3 hits
BishopMcQ
Redjack--The beast feels more intelligent than a normal dog.
JxJxA
This might be a little metagame-ish, but are we fighting or fleeing? I'm tempted to summon a guardian spirit at Force 4 or 5, but I'm sucking a -3 from stun damage and sustaining my armor spell. I guess I should drop the armor spell if I'm summoning and then recast it afterward so that I'm only taking a -1 penalty from stun damage.

Don't mind me, I'm just a little summon-happy. smile.gif
Redjack
As the token mundane, I'll just have to make references to B-grade sims and trids.
JxJxA
Okay, so just so I understand, should I send the watcher with instructions to watch and, in the event that the hell-hounds approach us, gain their attention and get them to follow the watcher?

I just want to know because it looks like I have to be really specific telling the watcher what to do.
Buddha72
Didn't summoning make you throw up last time or was it simply passing through the gate?

Bishop - What would be the skill roll to figure out how this place affects summoning and spellcasting?
JxJxA
The throw-up was from critically glitching my drain resist roll. I spent 1 edge to reduce it to a glitch, so I just took stun instead of physical damage. Summoning wasn't an issue as far as I know. If it is...then I'm just going to have to hide behind you all for this. nyahnyah.gif
BishopMcQ
Buddha -- Arcana + Logic or Metaplanar Traits + Intuition...something similar can be subbed in at a different threshold.
Fenris
That's me trying to shift back into human form. Null sheen, right? Right? biggrin.gif
Buddha72
Arcana + Logic (on how this place affects summoning & spellcasting)
3,5,6,6,6,5 (5 hits)
BishopMcQ
Fenris--Yes, you can shift back.

Buddha--This plane like many metaplanes is Aspected to its creator. Hunters are improved, prey is sought. Mechanically, some types of spells will be at bonus dice, other types will be at penalties or impossible all together. Summoning will depend on the type of the spirit and the motivation of the summoner.
Buddha72
Soooooooooo are we running or fighting?
JxJxA
That's what I'm wondering. I asked an either/or question and got "yes" as an answer. So... question.gif question.gif question.gif
BishopMcQ
JxJxA-I think Papa Smurf gave you the greenlight for sending in the watcher, when he said he was pulling his spy out.
BishopMcQ
Is the plan going to be fight or flee, so that I can push things along a little?
JxJxA
I think we're running. I vote for running. My watcher spirit is just out there to buy us time.
Buddha72
Will be posting some spell casting just in case we can't run away but going for the running option myself. smile.gif Just need to post in my thread then will pop back over here to post rolls and IC post.
Buddha72
Increase Reflexes Force 4 (Sorcery + Magic + Leo)
2,5,3,2,5,5,6,1,2,2,6,1,2,5,6,4,3,4 (7 hits using 4 to hit a threshold of 4)

Drain 4 (Willpower + Charisma + Focused Concentration + Centering)
5,6,3,5,3,5,3,4,3,3,1,5,3 (6 hits)

Dropping it into the sustaining foci

Armor Force 4 (Sorcery + Magic + Leo + Mentor Spirit)
2,1,5,6,6,3,6,4,5,3,2,5,2,5,2,5,5,6,4 (11 hits using 4)

Drain 5 (Willpower + Charisma + Focused Concentration + Centering)
2,3,6,3,3,4,4,4,5,6,6,2,6 (5 hits)

Dropping it into the sustaining foci

OK I do not want to that again manually - what websites are people using for dice rolling? Or is there one you would prefer we use Bishop?
JxJxA
I like Invisible Castle
BishopMcQ
Invisible castle works for me.
JxJxA
Augh, screw it. I'm going to try summoning a guardian spirit. I'll drop the armor spell before summoning it and then recast. Plus, I had completely forgotten what "focused concentration" does, so that's where the extra d6 is coming from on drain resist tests. x_x

Summoning Guardian Spirit at Force 4:
Summoning(4) + Magic(5) + Power Focus(2) - Stun Penalty(1) = 10d6 for 3 hits.

Guardian Spirit Opposed Rollt:
Force(4) = 4d4 for 0 hits, so it owes me 4 services. <===See below post, this is what happens when I am rolling, watching Raiders of the Lost Ark, and building another character on a completely different and foreign system all at the same time dead.gif

Resisting drain of 1? (The spirit rolled 0 hits, so I'm guessing I still have to oppose a minimum value):
Willpower(6) + Charisma(5) + Focused Concentration(1) - Stun Penalty(1) = 11d6 for 3 hits.

Casting Armor at Force 4:
Spellcasting(4) + Magic(5) + Power Focus(2) - Stun Penalty(1) = 10d6 for 3 hits, getting a +3 bonus to armor.

Resisting Drain of (2/2) + 3 = 4
Willpower(6) + Charisma(5) + Focused Concentration(1) - Stun Penalty(1) = 11d6 for 4 hits.

Phew. After the watcher crit glitch, I've been a bit gun-shy on casting.

Bishop, just let me know if the guardian spirit actually makes it into this plane. They're described as hunter/warriors ready to fight, so I'd figure that they would fit right in here based on D'Zan's info. If it makes it here, these are its stats:

[ Spoiler ]

Let me know if it comes in and I'll toss up an IC post to describe Tlacelel's emergence. smile.gif
BishopMcQ
Sadly the Guardian spirit rolls D6s instead of D4s. 4d6 → [5,3,3,2] -- 1 Hit, 3 Services. Same Drain.
JxJxA
Argh, thank you, I was typing too fast. Okay, Drain is 2xspirit hits, which is 2 and still within my resistance check.
BishopMcQ
And in case I wasn't clear, yes the spirit is summoned.
JxJxA
Cool, post is up, I hope the flavor description is okay. smile.gif

Now we have a heavy who can run necessary interference. grinbig.gif
BishopMcQ
As a reminder to the rest of the team--When Argent shifts back to human form, he'll be naked and all of his clothing/armor/gear will be on the ground.
Redjack
QUOTE (Fenris @ Dec 5 2010, 12:08 PM) *
Blinking, the fox abruptly sits down and closes his eyes. It's obvious that he seems to be concentrating on something.
QUOTE (Fenris @ Dec 5 2010, 12:09 PM) *
That's me trying to shift back into human form. Null sheen, right? Right? biggrin.gif

I was under the impression he was changing back right now, while the summoning in underway, right?
BishopMcQ
Yep, but it's either wait for him to get dressed or he picks up his stuff in his arms and runs down the hallway with you.
Fenris
So, I vote to split. Pants, hopefully, won't completely kill us, and now we can go smile.gif
BishopMcQ
Redjack/JxJxA/Fenris--Please roll an Agility + Agility Test.

All--Please roll Initiative. Post Roll and IPs.
JxJxA
Here is where I'm sure my luck runs out:

Dodging roots:
Agility(3) + Agility(3) - Stun(1) - Sustained Spell(2) = 3d6 for 1 hit.

Initiative roll for Uetz:
Initiative(6) + Increased Reflexes(1) - Stun(1) - Sustained Spell(2) = 4d6 for 2 hits.

Initiative roll for Tlacelel:
(Astral?) Initiative(9) = 9d6 for 3 hits. Bishop, should I be using Tlacelel's astral init values? His init and astral init values are the same, but he has a higher astral init pass.

Also, if necessary, Tlacelel's roll for dodging roots:
Agility(6) + Agility(6) = 12d6 for 1 hit.

Initiative Passes:
Quetzalcoatl: 1 + 1(increased reflexes) for 2
Tlacelel: 2 (or 3 if astral IP)
Redjack
Agility(6) + Agility(6) [3,1,2,2,5,2,2,3,4,1,5,4] = 2 hits
All those dice and only 2 hits? At least no glitch...

Initiative(11) [1,1,4,2,3,1,2,2,3,5,4] = 1 hit; Initiative = 12(3)
No more complaining about the dice. Nice dice.. I love the dice...

JxJxA
LOL, I just about facepalmed when I saw Tlacelel score the same agility hits as my medical mage. Like summoner, like summoned, I guess.
Buddha72
D'zan 4 IPs

Initiative
4,6,3,4,4,5,2,5,5,3,5 (5 hits)

Leo 2 IPs

Initiative
6,5,2,4,6,5,2,2,5,2,2,5,6,3 (7 hits)
Fenris
Argent - 4 IP's

Initiative:
Initiative (11d6.hits(5)=2)

Avoiding roots:
Agility (5) + Agility (5) (10d6.hits(5)=3)
BishopMcQ
JxJxA-Treat the spirit as materialized.

Initiative:
Leo 22 (2)
D'Zan 17 (4)
HOUNDS -
Argent 13 (4)
Papa Smurf 12 (3)
Tlacel 12(2)
Uetz 8 (2)

Buddha, give me a few minutes to post the result of the roots and what is happening, then you're up.

Both summoners--well done at keeping your spirits paired with your initiatives.
