Continuing the preview of the next game for those who have commented I've done an updated version here for your perusal (changes highlighted in red):

Particularly keen to hear if you think I've sorted hacker cheating, clarified cha gen and the 'events' section?!?

Cool. Just a question. If using an existing character, when I work it out if my mental skills and stats and stuff come to more than 200BP (which I think they will tbh cos that's the type of character he is) do I have to reduce them, or make a new char, or am I just lucky?

I more or less plucked the 200BPs from thin air as I thought it should cover it! I'm happy to change that on a case by case basis but it won't give you many in node points to play with...

What I might do with the TM initiative thing is only allow one PC TM and one AI max and they have to convince me they want the challenge of roleplaying their awe and wonder at the UV node - which will be highly addictive for them! That way someone lucks out and gets a bonus 2IPs for 5BPs but considering wired reflexes 2 costs 6BPs and a bit of essence I'm not too stressed! Thoughts?!?

QUOTE (Aria @ May 27 2011, 01:00 PM) *
Maybe I'm an optimist at heart and don't think anyone would do that just for some points?!? Ok...that one clearly isn't resolved yet nyahnyah.gif It's part of the feel of the UV node that I've already introduced you to but the mechanics need adjusting!

I've also decided to fix 'race' so that mental stats don't jump about...you can play an elf and look like a troll in the UV node but you'll be a decidedly wimpy but charismatic one biggrin.gif

that doesnt' really make any sense. If the UV node can simulate super-awesome cyberware, why can't it simulate me being a troll. That's silly smile.gif

As for Matrix IP in node. How about this.

You roll Resonance vs System, net hits means you get to use Matrix IP for that number of rounds, but then you have to take drain = your resonance rating.
Aria

Well if you can work a mechanic that allows race to change I'd be happy but I'm not sure that the node could make you 'dumber' by taking a troll's physical stats so unless I change racial BP costs...hmmm? Argh!

AIs don't have resonance but I take your point! Maybe I'll base it on the Rush adept power from WAR! but allow the TM/AI to choose +1/+2 or +3 IPs with the drain risk associated with it!
sabs
Well, I would do it this way:

You are the GM, you have a right to say, "you're being a munchkin, no you cannot make a character with 1's in all the physical stats, and maxed out mental stats, and then make him a "troll" to get amazing stats over all.

I think instead of having some cumbersome rules like that, look at each character in total, and yay or nay it.

Haha. This is exactly what I was thinking reading through the thread right up until I got to this post, and then It's already been said smile.gif

It seems to me the best way will be to take each character on an individual basis. Even better, how about this. Current Emerging players can discuss character ideas individually, or carry on their characters and discuss the implications of that. New players don't have an 'out of node' persona. Just make normal chars but maybe at increased BPs if it looks like they'll need em. You don't even have to tell em they're in a node until first time they die, then pm em and tell em they wake up in a chair smile.gif
Aria
The idea appeals but don't worry, I have some other twists in mind ork.gif

...and I don't want to rewrite the intro nyahnyah.gif
Aria
I am going to post the recruitment thread for the next Emerging game today but we'll keep this thread up to run with the current IC which I still intend to finish in style smile.gif
BlackHat
In the room we are in, are there any/alot of explosive weapons or demolitions equipment? The clock is ticking, so we don't want to waste a lot of time, but it might be worth it to fire off a few minigrenades from someone's Alpha if we thought we could do any significant damage to their arsenal (on the 'off' chance that the incoming air strikes don't do the trick). We would probably need/want someone with demolitions training, though.
Aria
Demolitions, probably not, there are almost certainly a box or two of grenades and some rockets that you could rig to blow / shoot... smile.gif

Don't be in the vicinity at the time...and hope you don't put a hole in the wall and let the lake in devil.gif
BlackHat
Well, if we blow a hole and let the lake in and it drowns us all... at least we took a few more of them with us, and probably ruined some of their equipment.

devil.gif
Seth
I can do demolitions if you want. I'd rather get out of dodge though: the air strike will probably do good things.

Just say the words and I will go along with it...you are the captain after all!
Aria
Don't forget the bitch with the whip is on her way...you've overheard her so doing something might be a good idea?!?
sabs
I'll shoot her with the big drones smile.gif if she comes our way. Assuming I get done hardware hacking them before she gets there.
Aria

I was thinking that she's likely to arrive before you hack them...feel free to be alone in the corridor when she turns up...or yell for someone to come and help?!?

...not that she can do much against 20 armour!
Aria
Sabs, you have control of the drones (I'll leave you to fill in the details of how exactly nyahnyah.gif)

They are basically Crimson Samurai drones overmodded with walker mode and mech arms. The 'turret' takes the form of a shoulder mounted weapon mount with grenade launcher and they have an LMG in their hands - this is probably overkill but should make up for the other drones I've nicked off you ork.gif

Handling +1
Accel 7/15
Speed 50
Pilot 3
Body 4
Armour 12
Sensors 3 (6)
Aria
Thanks to all of you for posting in the new thread...will see if you live long enough to take your existing characters in there smile.gif

Seth, is Big Fella going to join us? Perhaps you lady wife too?!?
BlackHat
Perception test to spot the lady: 11d6.hits(5) = 4 hits
However, assuming she has normal chameleon armor, I should be at -4 or -2 dice (depending on how much she's moving and if her other gear is concealed), so that turns it into only 2 or 3 hits.
Hopefully still enough to enter combat and target her.
Aria
You can 'see' her, barely and have this IP to fire (don't forget mods for being in cover etc...). Will let you have the glory shot before the two NPCs open up (or Sabs beats you to it...)

She will be on you at the end of the IP (assuming she isn't riddled full of holes...)
BlackHat
Well, Roberts isn't the best shot on his good days... (more of a leader than a soldier) but let's see what he can do without any AR enhancements (since he's paranoid, and didn't want to activate his commlink until he's had a chance to decontaminate it)...

Agility 3 + Firearms 2 - cover 2 = 3 dice = 1 hit

Since this is the "glory shot" I should probably use edge to reroll failures...

2 dice = +1 hit

So, 2 hits. She'll probably dodge, but the sounds of gunfire should be greenlight for the rest of the team to open up.

No time for talking!

Yeah, you missed nyahnyah.gif Supressive fire might have been better!
sabs
Let a real man do it smile.gif
From Both drones, at once:
command(6)+gunnery(4)+VR(2)+smartgun(1)-5 recoil+6 recoil comp=13d6

These are long, narrow bursts.
1) 4 5 2 6 3 5 2 4 4 6 5 6 2 (6) hits.
2) 5 4 2 2 3 3 5 1 5 3 6 6 5 (6) hits

DV=6P+5P+nethits -1AP twice

Suck on this.
sabs
Sorry about Swift.. I'm sure she had a heart of gold.. buried deep deep in there.

Sticks is just an angry angry dwarf.
BlackHat
If she wanted to live, she shouldn't have let us overhear her objections to her sister having released us. smile.gif
Aria
Don't be sorry, be AFRAID ork.gif

...nah, don't worry, it's why I gave you the drones in the first place...she'd have torn a hole in you lot otherwise!
Aria
Sabs, sorry for assuming that you would all enter behind the drones but there is little else for you to do (unless you want to chase Tempest back into the tower) and I want to move the action along

If anyone objects just say so though, this is your game!

smile.gif
Aria
Just some clarification of where you are...

Mr J, you've gone back the way you came (on your own?!?)...you suspect the red light is linked to the AR controls that litter this room but unless you set your commlink to receive them you are running dark...?!?

The others have moved on to the Sleeper's chamber which is large, lots of structural columns for the demo minded (?), full of people (including children), drones etc. It has several exits off the raised walkway around the edge, steps down to the floor and a large (small vehicle sized) exit off to one side which roughly orientates towards the lakeside
sabs
Hey, which drones turned on us?
The two I hacked? or the servant drones?
Aria
It was the manservants down in the well...your two are still firmly in your control (for now ork.gif)

Haha. Yeah. Admittedly, when I went that way I was under the impression that we had to go back through that way to get out. I thought I was taking a lead, but looks like I'm all alone now :'(. Nevermind though eh. I'll go catch up with the others now smile.gif
Aria
You might want to edit out the quote marks from your post smile.gif

Oh, and with the willful shooting of a helpless NPC I'm pulling of the GM gloves ork.gif ...let's hope you make it out alive to take part in the next game smile.gif

Talking of which, can you post up your characters there at some point and discuss insertion route? I'm sure you'll survive <honest!> devil.gif

Hehe. I thought you might say that, but I thought it fitting. I took the Vindictive quality, he has a hatred of magic users, and this one in particular really pissed him off. I'm sure she'd have been real merciful if I'd just attacked her smile.gif
Aria
I like people playing up their negative qualities smile.gif
BlackHat
Plan is the same. Unless the manservants move to engage us, I think we should quickly cross the room and get out of this place before it blows. Too bad Tempest was so quick to report in, but at least the people and drones that might try to stop us might now be more worried with getting themselves out of the blast radius.
Seth
Sorry for not posting guys, life has been a bit hectic as has the other game I am running. BigFella and I are back.
Aria
It looked like Seth was trying to get you out of a fight, and it probably would have worked were it not for Mr J's nefarious actions ork.gif

Still, I thought Big Fella might like another crack at Feather biggrin.gif

I thought nobody would find out.....

That's my defence and I'm sticking to it. I'd make an ace lawyer
sabs
Lets make them think 5 times smile.gif

2 Drones, with Light Machine guns, doing suppression fire.

Command(6)+gunnery(4)+CI(1)+optimization(1)=12d6:
1) 5 6 1 4 1 6 4 4 6 1 5 4 (5) hits
2) 3 1 3 2 1 2 1 1 3 3 6 5 (2) hits

Damage: 6P -1, + net hits twice
Aria
It could just be how I'm seeing the room in my mind (large oval chamber with the exit you are headed just beyond the centre of the fat bit - rather than long bit) but you are shooting perilously close to Roberts, Gash and Bryn...close but not hitting them mind

Will have to go and look up suppressive fire rules now nyahnyah.gif
BlackHat
He could suppressive fire in our area (if the NPCs are close to us and not in some doorway) and it would just suppress us too... which IIRC means if we take any other action than taking cover we have to roll a defense test against the shot. Its been a while since I looked up the rules, though, so you may want to refresh everyone's memory. wink.gif
Seth
I keep trying to talk some sense into them...and it keep going wrong!

Mostly I think that they are the goodies and we are the baddies, but there you go.

I'm sorry if I caused confusion. The context as far as I can see is as I said IC. We didn't call in the air strike, so they did. Unless they have a plan, and it doesn't sound like they do, then they have a traitor. There are other alternatives too: such as one of us subconsciously calling in the strike when we in BTL, but the traitor plan is very attractive.

Personally I don't want to see the kids get slaughtered, although I am no hero type. But kids are kids. If I can use that preference to avoid a fight in a place where we are out gunned, I'm all for it.

Anyway I guess its time for a fight. I'm going to let Joshua deal with Feather...I don't want to get hit by him!

I have two actions. I intend to fear the two wolf pack members with feather. I will delay my action until after Joshua...I play WOW ... and know how important it is for the Tank to get the aggro!

Initiative: 14
And the are respectable fears at that 7 and 4 successes
I'll roll a couple of rolls against the supressive fire, in case they are needed. 4 and 2. I suspect that the bullets bounce of Legundo's 10 pts of hardened armour.

I'll post IC when Joshua has posted

Status:
Possessed by Legundo currently rank 5 as there is a background count of 1. Which is very annoying as mostly I want to smack people with a spell. Ah well.
Full body/stun
I think I have full edge...if anyone thinks differently let me know.
BlackHat
Initiative: 7d6 = 1 + 7 = 8
mister__joshua
Initiative 12 + 7 hits = 19!
Aria
QUOTE (Aria @ Jan 27 2011, 02:18 PM) *
Combat Time:
Phase One
Joshua 22, Bryn 19, Sticks 17, Gash 14, Requiem & Sandman 14, Deep Watch NPCs 12, Drones 11, Feather 8, Roberts (last but not least) 8

Phase Two
Joshua 22, Bryn 19, Sticks 17, Gash 14 (when astral?), Requiem & Sandman 14, Deep Watch NPCs 12, Drones 11, Feather 8

Phase Three
Joshua 22, Bryn 19, Sticks 17, Gash 14 (astral), Requiem & Sandman 14, Drones 11

Phase Four
Sticks 17

This is the updated list...again, you don't need to roll every round if you don't want to!!! But you seem to have had better rolls for this round so go for it smile.gif

So we have a couple of fears on 14, bullets flying around from the drones (technically you can only remote control one drone and command the other one but don't worry about re-rolling as their pilot 5 + autosoft 4 just replaces you command skill+gunnery and they have smartlinks...) - suppressive fire so the enemy are taking cover...

BigFella, what are you doing please?
Aria
...and can we have some more posts in the recruitment thread for the sequel please...I don't want it to drop off and we have potentially 2 new recruits for our number!
sabs
Actually I can command them both smile.gif But then they won't act independently..
I'm not 'riding' any of them right now..
mister__joshua
2 quick questions. I saw a Wolf Pack member drop down over the railing to the level below. Is that where we were heading? Also, how far down is it?

How hidden is the Rumethium against my vision modes (standard Deep watch loadout + dwarf)?
Aria

Correct me if I'm wrong:
1. Verbal/matrix commands - use drone stats
2. Remote control - use Command Prog + autosofts etc
3. Jump In - use rigger skills+drone response?!?

I thought you were doing 2 but I'm happy if you can do this and get both to target the same thing?!?

Ruthenium + Thermal Damping 4 removes 4 from perception tests so feel free to make one to see if you can see him smile.gif

It's 1.5m down to the lower level. You are heading there eventually but around the other side of the chamber...

1. Use drone stats+autosofts
2. Remote Control: Command + rigger skills
3. Rigger skills + sensor ore response, depending.

Page 247 SR4A:
Remote-Controlled Dice Pool
Initiative: As Rigger
Attack: Command + gunnery
Melee Defense: Command + Melee skill
Ranged Decent: Command
Full Defense: Command + Dodge
Damage Resistance: Body + Armor
Infiltration: Command +_ Infiltration
Maneuvering: Command + Vehicle skill
Perception: Sensor + perception

And I can remote control both of them simultaneously, as long as I have them do the exact same things.

if I want to have them do 2 different things, that's 1 command each.
