i suggest we take out or take over or at least infiltrate a gang preferably a gang that does smuggling i think the 405 hellhounds are small enough for starters from there we can branch out to the other highway gangs along the way we can make contacts via whomever buisnesses weve (disturbed) while getting the hang of the smuggling buisness

OOC: I figure we need Exploit and Stealth in order to hack our way onto a Shadow site. If the group wants to spend the in-game time to code our own hacking programs, then I am willing to spend the karma to give Sin one level of Software.
Han can roll 6 dice to assist Vega (13 if he spends edge in advance). If Sin learns software 1, then he can roll 9 dice to assist (12 with edge). I don't know if any of the other characters or NPCs have the software skill, or are willing to spend the karma to learn it. I believe some of the mages have high Logic attributes. Others have Edge.
Example: The threshold to code Exploit is Rating * 2. If Sin rolled 12 dice, he could buy 3 successes, which would give Han 16 dice, which could buy 4 successes for a rating 2 exploit program in one month, or a rating 4 exploit in two months (except Sin only has one point of edge left). Same with Stealth. We could probably do better by rolling dice instead of buying successes, since we get to re-roll sixes. I don't know how many dice Vega rolls.
Maybe Sren will allow Han to use his leadership skill to organize the project, i.e. develop a plan, improve working conditions, gather reference materials, etc.
We also need to buy trode nets for all the programmers.
This is my suggestion for bootstrapping our way into the shadowrunning business.
Comments, anyone? Damaleon? Sren? |
Sounds about right to me, though I would add Decrypt, Browse and Analyze programs (already coded a Browse 6 on the ship in) to quickly find things if we manage to hack in, instead of using the default common use level 1 programs.
Given that none of us have datajacks, I would suggest we make the best possible Exploit and Stealth programs since we have no neural interface and have to type it out (basicly 1 IP for us to any IC's 3), but at least we don't have to worry about Black IC. Right now we have Rating 3 commlinks and computers (some have 4 signal) so the best program we can use at the moment is 3 until we can up response and system attributes. With rating 3 for 3 hacking programs and 1 common use program, we need a total of 15 hits to start trying for access and 21 hits to decrypt any necessary files or node entries.
Vega gets 12 dice normally, 17 with edge. If Sin aids Vega and manages 3 hits, Vega can by 5 hits using edge, though rolling would probably be better with the rule of six (unless I roll like I did during the gunfight), taking about 3 to 4 months of coding time. It might go faster if some of the characters missing have software as well, or we could code more programs, maybe even an agent program and just have them do the hacking for us.
While this is being done, Han can use on of the fake SINs to find some bare minimum gear to let Vega go VR, maybe even by better common use programs and parts (though parts are expensive).
The next main question would be how to gain some street cred and possibly general goodwill with the folks in our new digs while those about to work the Matrix write their code. I think a combination of approaches might be worth while. Hitting the clubs and such for those our age and slightly older, places that have arm wrestling or other semi-organized tourneys show off individual strength, especially if we end up in a few NON-LEATHAL brawls to show how good we are in a fight. This might let us show off for any type of underground combat groups around. Joining or founding a community watch/vigilante group/gang might also help out our lack of friends with contacts. Even finding and eliminating some of the smaller overly brutal gangs might work.
Joining a gang may get us a couple contacts and a place to hide out, but helping a whole community could possibly net us a large number of contacts and multiple places to hide from LS and KE. Of course, smuggling and extortion in a gang would likely net more cash.

Browse and Analyze are both legal. We can buy those is why I didn't mention them. We can also buy 'trode nets legally (50

each). We don't need datajacks right away, and some of us won't use cyber anyhow.
IF we buy sim modules legally (100

each), we can use cold VR. Later we can figure out how to modify them for hot sim.

My idea is that every character should come up with a plan, and then we can pick and choose the best ones.
Sin has an idea on how to get street cred. I need for Sren to tell me the date (i.e. month) before I can turn the idea into a plan.

OK guys, some questions for you: Would you like to play characters that are on the run? This was my primary idea, inspired by the TV series Dark Angel. This will give the characters the most freedom to choose what they do, but also means you guys will have to completely direct the actions. Where do you run, how do you decide to support yourself, how do you make contacts to get missions and equipment, why do you stay together. This type of game is harder for both players and GM, but might be more fun. OR Does the opposite sound better. Working for a corporation or government you like to work for. You'll get better equipment and be well looked after, but have little freedom, as your creators expect you to work obediantly for them. OR Somewhere in between. This is, of course, the real answer, but I need more than "somewhere in between" from you guys. How comfortable are you coming up with your own missions in character? Will you have more fun having to work extremely hard for each little piece of gear and for next month's lifestye payment (which will leadto higher karma awards), or do you want gear to be more plentiful making missions easier (which means karma awards are lower, but might be more fun for you guys). Do you want a quick, easy separations from your creators? Do you want them as an ongoing contact for missions, or do you want them to be antagonistic, but not highly motivated to capture or kill you? I know you can't give absolute anwers, and that having some surprises will make the game more fun. But I don't know you guys, so I'd like you to tell me what sounds more fun. How much control you want your character to have over hir own life, or do you want fate to play a bigger role. |
Sren, This is how I see it.
Previously, our characters were property of Aztechnology, and now we are on the run. We have a little experience with Aztechnology missions, and managed to get a job protecting a cargo in exchange for passage. We are smart enough to add 1 + 1, and figure out that some people must hire out for a living, and others are hiring.
Now, we are kids in Seattle, aged 15 to 16, with our whole future ahead of us. We have no Aztlan providing room and board - or jobs for that matter. We haven't seen Aztlan on our tail yet. We figure it is just a matter of time; we represent a big investment to them.
The in character question is, "Where do we go from here?", and the out of character question is "What do we do next session?". So far, being kids is a stumbling block.
Ronin sees the kid angle as a challenge, and wants to keep roleplaying kids a while longer. Diamond and Horizon want to become gangers, eventually gang leaders.
Han has always wanted to be a jet jockey. Now he finds ships fascinating as well. He likes vehicles of all types, and wants to be a rigger. He realizes that he is too young to get a drivers license, and would have a problem on the streets of Seattle. He is thinking long range, and isn't particular about what he does in the meantime, so long as it moves him closer to fulfilling his dreams. He thinks drones are an option.
Swoop, a.k.a. Sin, wants to be an American success story, and live like the people on the trideo. He is starting to realize that he will need people skills to achieve that, and has a plan. He wants to get adopted or fostered by a rich American family, and go to a good private school that will teach him the skills he lacks. He figures he can't just walk into an adoption agency, even if he could he doesn't have the social skills to "sell himself". He told the others about his plan, hoping that they might help him. Vega and Sledge think the plan has merit. Han isn't enthusiastic he is willing to help. Diamond and Horizon aren't interested in another "School"; having just escaped from one.
Swoop figures sports are the key. He knows that organized sports are a big deal in America, even at the high or prep school level. He knows from trideos that some schools recruit athletes, and are even willing to bend a few rules in the process. He's come up with the following story.
He and the others are runaway slaves (not far from the truth) who stowed away aboard a ship bound for America. They are worried about being hunted down by the corporation that enslaved them; therefore, they aren't ready to divulge much information about where they came from, and who is looking for them. They also won't provide biometric data or other information that could identify them to the slavers.
They were originally selected for their superior athletic abilities, and can play many sports. They would be an asset to any team looking to reach the championship game. What they want in return is cosmetic surgery to hide them, enrollment in school, and sponsorship for a green card and eventual citizenship.
Swoop thinks that it is a little late in the year for football, although he isn't sure. He figures basketball is coming up, and baseball comes up in the spring. He figures the right school and the right coach will have alumni boosters that might be willing to foster a few star athletes. He figures that most of the kids could "tone down" their abilities and still make varsity. Fifteen years old is the right age to be a freshman anyhow.
Swoop figures that living in a "real" family, with "real" parents; going to school; being on a team; and having a sympathetic coach would help him learn the social skills to become a successful adult. He figures athletics could carry him right into college. He figures he could also make it academically.
Swoop figures that at a good prep school he will be meeting students who will become the leaders of the future, as well as parents who are the current movers and shakers. One thing Swoop has learned since the escape is that he won't be able to accomplish much with out the right contacts.
Sin is searching news archives to find just such a school and coach.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Sren, the new question is, how much of this do you want to roleplay? I mentioned to Ronin that this whole school thing could be background while the game focuses on "after-school" activities - nights, weekends, vacation. I also suggested that we could fast forward at some point. Ronin wants to play at being kids a while longer. I can go either way.
Not all the characters like this plan, and I don't want to split up the group. That's why I suggest the school be background.
If you can let me know what you think before Saturday, I can refine the plan, or come up with alternatives.
Sren

DBA: Getting into school will be next to impossible without swoops background being found out, and reported to the authorities. If swoop wants to become a UCAS citizen, he'll have to convince UCAS officials to accept him as a citizen, which will then make school relatively easy, assuming he doesn't do anything illegal.
EDIT: posted accidentally long before finishing...
Sports is an even bigger problem. A standard health screening will be mandatory for any public (school or professional) sports. Only leagues that allow augmented layers will allow any of you guys in.
Shadowrunners won't have time for school, even if they run all of their shadowruns at night, even a sleep regulator doesn't let you go a week without any sleep. Add in extra curricular activities, and you have even less time.
THAT BEING SAID, just because its hard or nearly impossible, doesn't mean you shouldn't try if it is in-character to try. So far, the only idea I've seen that was too wacky to try was farming, as I don't envision Seattle in 2055 to have much farmland that uses undocumented labor. Your characters can try anything, so long as they think out how to avoid being caught and handed back to the Azzies. That last part is the kicker. there are lots of options, but none of them are easy.
Find a way to get asylum, get a corporate sponsor, convince the Azzies to stop chasing you, get another government to sponsor you, find a competent decker (or team of such)to erase all public and Azzy records of you, and so on. (I'm sure each of you could think of a dozen things to help the characters become established in Seattle, but none of them will be easy, and all of them will take three or four game sessions).
I'll throw some less-than-perfect ideas into the mix, but they probably won't fit your goals very easily, they're just things to think about.
*Goal: get an education, become a citizen. Idea: Get a corporate or government sponsor to attempt to get citizenship in either the UCAS or a more tolerable corp. Get private tutoring, apply to college. (GM note: once you guys are established, we can have IC downtime for things like school and training, although I want you guys somehow involved in the election of 57 (is that the right year?), but otherwise, a four year education doesn't present a problem for the story.)
*Goal: Get established as a shadowrunner. Idea: Get a fixer. Getting noticed by a fixer that isn't concerned about your faces being on the news is going to be hard. Its not so bad now that you're in SEA, but that is still a weakness. Finding serious underground fighting to get noticed by a recruiter might work, but finding the fight-clubs won't be as easy. Finding other runners might not be as hard, but they'll be less willing to help you (you're the competition). Working with the smugglers might eventually get you contacts, and get you some money in the meantime, but might take years to get you some good inroads into shadowrunning. (GM note: Getting established as a shadowrunner is part of the plot of this part of the campaign, it isn't supposed to be easy.)
*Goal: Establish your own gang. Idea: Find an area the police won't go, kill anyone there who doesn't treat you like the new owner. (GM note: this might help you get contacts when you start edging into the territory of someone important and powerful, but gang fights might be more than a little boring, because gangs are way below you on the power scale.)
*Goal: Get corporate sponsorship (either to get some legal status or to get established as a runner). Idea: Plan your own run against one of the AAAs, and get some truly impressive results, then ask to meet the boss in order to get back whatever (or whoever) you took. Make sure you can completely undo the damage. Or, if you can make the target meet you, ask one of his competitors instead. (GM note: finding a target is the hard part, planning the run is the primary focus of a good game.)
*Goal: Get revenge on the Azzies. Idea: Find Azzie sites, plan runs against them. This is the most lethal idea, and you'll piss off a whole country, but you'll at least go out with an impressive BANG, or maybe a SPLASH if a blood mage gets ahold of you.
There are tons of things to try an do. Again, none of them are easy, some are highly dangerous, and you may occasionally fail. I will have some plot happen to you (

) if you don't have any actionable ideas for Saturday night. If you guys think of more things you'd like to try, please post them so I can think a little about responding to them. I know its a little close to gametime, but more ideas are always welcome.

{{The material link house rule changes everything.}}
IC: After his encounter with the dragon, Swoop (FKA Sin), was kinda pissed off at his "friends" for getting him into that situation. Feeling more than a little sorry for himself, he wondered how he let them talk him into running away in the first place. The instructors weren't all bad, and now that the worst of them is dead....
One good thing did result from that meeting. Swoop learned about material links. He wondered why they never appeared in any of his studies. It doesn't matter now, Swoop thought. He realized that if they work as advertised, then the Azzies probably have them as well. In that case, what's the point in disguises, hiding, or running away?
Swoop's mood changed from despondent to rational. He rationalized, "If the Azzies wanted me dead, they could have fragged me already. They still could at anytime in the future, and Life is too short to worry about could bes. Time to stop worrying, and start living!
"To hell with the school, sports, mom, and apple pie routine! None of the others were much interested anyhow. Learning how to win friends is hard work (winning friends is hard work, too), and I already know how to influence people.
"Living in this hostel is the pits, too. Sledge had the right idea when he said we should get that pirate ship, and live aboard it. Maybe we should take that idea one step further, and become pirates ourselves. We can return to the Caribbean, where we already have contacts; where we don't have to worry about Lonestar; where they speak Spanish!
"Get a ship, and hoist our own flag. Take what we want, and dare anybody to stop us. I like it! Carve out an area of ocean and declare it ours. Just thumb our noses at Aztlan. We could even target their cargos. Force them to act; or else deal. Maybe we could get them to take us back - on our terms this time; OR!, we could deal with their competition."

OK, my car seems to be fine; the cooling fan wasn't turning on when the car got hot, and so my car overheated on my way to work. I played with it after work, and the fan turns on now, so I'm confident I can drive out there.
So, who plans on showing up tomorrow?
Also, Bad Ass, I wasn't aware material links were taken out of the rules, so in-character, Swoop can make whatever assuptions he wants, but he hasn't seen material links at work yet. (ritual tracking has appeared in every version of SR so far, so it'll probably show up in street magic, or I can make some rules for it if the PCs decide to research it, it was a dragon after all, they can do some pretty wierd, and powerful, things).
Additionally, how does Swoop plan on getting his own ship? I'm only asking so I can think about it a little before game.
NEXT
Crimson, same question, if the group decides to follow you, how do you plan on taking over the highways without getting caught or killed? Again, only asking so I can have some idea of what you're going to do so I know what enemies to think about so I'm not completely clueless when game starts.
This goes for everyone else too. Give me some clue as to what you're going to start trying to do in-character, so I don;t have to spend too much time during game looking up NPCs and special rules (I like all of the detailed and littl eused rules, but there are a lot of them, and a lot of things not quite covered, so having some clue as to what is going on will give me a chance to be prepared).
I can't truly have every living thing in Seattle fully stated out with their abilities and every-day routines, so I do need a little input as to what direction you guys are going to run.

Session summary:
Swoop went around visiting talismonger shops; didn't have much success purchasing anything worthwhile. He found a bored, unhappy spirit bound to the door of one of the bigger shops. Swoop freed it, then tasked it to wait for the shop owner to return so it could collect payback. The owner of the shop was much more powerful than Swoop suspected. The owner managed to reclaim the spirit without Swoop noticing that the mental link between Swoop and the spirit had been severed. (Swoop didn't even know that was possible). When Swoop returned to the shop the next day, the spirit said, "There he is, Boss!". The shop owner claimed he called the cops, so Swoop left the scene.
Eventually, Swoop returned to the hostel and told the others about his adventures. Han suggested that Swoop should do something more useful than piss off shopowners. Find them a place along the 405 for instance. Swoop countered that if Han wanted to look for a place, then Swoop would back Han up.
Han gathered the requirements of the other members. Horizon want a place that would allow him to observe the traffic on the 405 - ie. a reasonably tall building with an unobstructed view. Han himself wanted a place close to an on-off ramp, with garage space. Diamond suggested that they pick on a small gang, if possible.
Han managed to spot such a place, about a block or two from the freeway. A teen go-gang seemed to be squatting a four story motel. Han figured the building might have room for a few more. As he approached the office, some kids in the parking lot commanded him to stop, so he approached them instead. They were the strangest gang. Instead of seeking more recruits, they wanted him to go away. They acted quite belligerent. Han remembered his previous encounters with gang members in Atzlan and thought, "Here we go again!" Han decided he didn't want to start another incident, and decided to look elsewhere.
The gang members laughed as Han backed away. Swoop didn't like that. He had his spirit, a Force 8 Spirit of Man, toss their bikes around. Then Swoop did the laughing, as he and Han started running. Gang members started chasing them, pulling guns. Han told them he didn't want to fight, but if they wanted to start something, they should use non-lethal weapons. This went right over the gangers, who started firing.
Han returned fire, knocking out five gangers with stun rounds, while Swoop took out three with Stunbolt. The rest of the gang ran away. They dragged the unconscious bodies into the office, and rolled their bikes in as well. They then called the Sledge, to let the group know where they were.
Han and Swoop used the kids' belts to tie their hands behind them, and tied their ankles with their pants. While Swoop watched over the prisoners, Han decided to survey the neighboring buildings. All but one of the buildings were occupied by go-gangs (none of which seemed interested in recruiting). Everyone seemed to avoid that one building for some reason. Han went over there, knocked, and called out. Nobody answered.
That evening over 200 bikers showed up at the motel, demanding the release of "their little brothers". Based on the colors and tats, this group consisted of 5 different gangs that had joined together to confront Han and Swoop. Swoop thought, no wonder these gangs don't recruit. They don't need to recruit if they can call on other gangs for help. They don't need to negotiate when they can call on overwhelming forces. After some non-negotiating face saving, they release the "little brothers". The gang tells them to vacate the building in the morning.
Han recognizes one of the bikers from his visit to the neighboring buildings. He approaches that building the next day, and asks to join the gang. He suggests that the gang come up with a suitable initiation challenge.

Well, I'm always looking for more players, but I'm not sure I can handle several more, so how many are you talking about 6thdragon? However, I do have one player moving soon and one I haven't heard from for a while, so there should be room for three or four more players.
It'll be difficult to find a way to add mroe characters for the next adventure, but I might be able to figure something out. If you haven't read the earlier posts, I don't run a normal game. Currently, all of the character's are genetically engineered super soldiers who have recently escaped from their creators, and are trying to make a life for themselves while hiding from their old masters.
We should be meeting this Saturday (assuming enough players plan to be there), so feel free to stop by Other Realms and introduce yourself. There's a minis tournament this Saturday, so I'll be playing DnD until the tournament is over (should end by five o'clock, maybe last until six o'clock).
Check out the character creation guidlines earlier in this thread, and make a pair of characters (different archatypes please) and add 90 karma, and I'll try to work you in if you can join us this Saturday, or you can hang out and see if you think you'd like to join our game. One of the players I haven't seen for a while said he was interested in running a standard game occasionally too, so my strangeness isn't going to be the permanent only choice, but I'd like to get the characters somewhat established (a couple contacts, and no looming combat) before we take a break (thats assuming said player is still interested in gaming with us).

As I told on June 3rd, I won't be able to make it on June 17th. I can email you my characters if you want to use them as NPCs.
I can be there on July 1st. Do the rest of you plan to play that weekend? I am asking because July 1st is close to the July 4th holiday, and I won't be there on the 17th to participate in any discussion.
RE: the initiation. If you post the challenge online, maybe we can resolve it online too. That might work best if it is a solo adventure. Of course, if other PCs want to join the gang, it might be better to do it on a game day. Han will tell the other PCs about the challenge, and if they are interested in joining, then he will ask the gang if his buddies can be included.

Sren,
I'd be interested in adding to your campaign for a change of pace, but I think I would prefer a standard shadowrun campaign at the same time. Do you have an email address I could reach you on? Still no exact date for when I'll be moving, probably in mid to late July. From reading the past posts your game appears a little high powered compared to what I'm use to. Maybe it would be easier for me to pull one of my retired characters and add them to the group if you're not sure how long you plan to keep the super-soldier campaign going. Just a thought.

6th D: I always run theme games when I run. I just find it too boring to GM what is considered a standard SR game. But if the other potential GM hasn't vanished off the face of the earth, maybe you'll like his better.
BadA: Sorry I haven't posted the initiation challenge already. I'll get back to you. I won't be there on July 1st though...
Crimson: Since you're the only one who plans on coming tomorrow, I'm canceling tomorrows session.
IMPORTANT NOTE
I'm going to be occupied down here (Glen Burnie) on July 1st with a tournament. Its a prerelease, so it will last until 7 or 8 pm, which is too late to drive up to Other Realms. Do you guys want to Restart on July 8th (changing our pattern) or on July 15th?

Meanwhile, I look forward to the initiation challenge.

BA, this is what The Baron (the leader of the gang) says he wants swoop to do:
During the first week of each month, a road train delivers a shipment of product to a large vehicle shop in Seattle. The delivery location is a four-story building with multiple underground levels, and a large open lot. Even as big as it is, it cannot support the level of non-vehicle deliveries it takes in, so it is a front for something else, and whatever it is, it must be big. The Baron wants to know what it is, he wants in on whatever secret action there is to be had, and he wants more than a little revenge as well.
The gang attempted to hijack the road train once before about two years ago, and the event ended in the deaths of ten of the eleven hijackers. The truck had two marked escorts, and one unmarked escort assisted during the attack. Inside the truck, the passenger had a shotgun, and a spirit of man attacked several of the bikers.
The Baron (the leader of the gang) wants to get the cargo of that truck, and the cleaner the getaway, the better.
Any questions?

OOC: The Baron is talking to Han, not Swoop.
IC: Han tells the Baron that if he supplies Han with all the information he has on this operation, then Han will see what he can do. Han mentions that he has a few friends that are also interested in joining, and is wondering if this is an individual challenge. Han figures his friends will help him with the challenge if it is a group challenge. They won't help otherwise, especially if they each have to complete their own challenge later.

BA: The Baron frowns when Han uses the phrase "...see what we can do..."
He responds with "Either you succeed or you don't, and simple success doesn't necessarily guarantee that we'll let you join us. I don't care if you get help, and letting your friends join us still requires that I at least talk to them before they join. And just like you, your performance in getting the job done also counts. Not because I care whether you look good doing it, or whether break into the car or trick your way in, but the consequences matter. If you're reckless and get too many team mates killed, or bring trouble back to us, then we'll just turn you over. That might sound callous. But as I already described, these guys are serious, and dangerous. "
He takes a deep breath, and tries to relax. "As for what I know about the operation, all I can give you is an address, [GM doesn't have an address in mind, A level security. Nice business neighborhood, several car dealers, and a few office buildings]. If you think you'll have better luck breaking into the building and stealing a load of whatevers in that truck, then more power to ya. But I'd never risk getting caught inside a building with real security. While I can't verify that it does in fact have anything dangerous inside, I do know that there's something secret going on, and that requires some sort of protective measures."

Han returns to the hostel, and relates his conversation with "The Baron". Diamond's eyes light up when Han speculates that the target might be smugglers. Diamond seems more interested in joining the smugglers than he is in joining the gang.
"GEEZ!", thinks Han. I don't know why I bother sometimes. Maybe Sin has the right attitude? The whole take over a highway gang thing was Diamond's idea in the first place, and now he doesn't want to do it. Then again, maybe he'll change his mind again tomorrow.
After sulking for a while, Han grudgingly admits to himself that he also finds smuggling more appealing than the gang. Course, now, if they approach these particular smugglers they will be double-crossing 'The Baron". Who knows if they are really smugglers. anyhow?
After thinking about it a lot longer, Han decides that the gang thing has to be an all or nothing proposition - as far as Han is concerned. If the others aren't interested, so be it.
On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt to do some legwork in the meantime. I can perfect my shadowing technique, my infiltration skills, etc.
Wish I had bugging equipment, or a drone. I could put 24 hour surveillance on the place. Figure out the best time to sneak in and place some inside bugs. Gotta come up with a plan.
The lightbulb turns on: the Baron. If he is that curious about what is going on, then maybe he can fix us up with bugging equipment. I'll ask him.
Han calls The Baron, and explains his needs.

Awfully quiet....
Who plans to be there next week? I need at least two of you guys to plan a ame around.
Sorry Bad Ass, I didn't notice the implied question in your last post. The Baron doesn't have any cool tech, he runs a gang that steals truchloads of stuff and sells it. Its rare for them to find something cool and useful AND at the same time be something they know how to use. They use guns, bikes and body armor for their jobs, and lots of blood and sweat. They aren't opposed to you finding and using such gear on your own, however. But you definately get the impression from the Baron that he wants to see some action on your part.
GM note: While it is inherantly more risky, you could use watchers or spirits to do survailence. Spirits with conceal might work well, but there's always the chance of them being caught, and they can't see through wards. So they're not as good as tin bugs or drones, they are free.

As far as I know, it will be Damaleon, Crimson Ronin, and myself. They both posted back on the 17th. It has been a long time; probably a good idea to get a repeat confirmation.
Now Han knows the Baron's position; Horizon and Diamond have also expressed their positions. Han wonders what Sledge and Vega want to do.

I hope you feel better soon. Sorry to say, you missed a productive session. To make a long story short, we hijacked the truck and got admitted into the gang. The truck contained a shipment of autocannons, and we managed to get away with two. We sold one to the smugglers, and kept one. There were also two Nightskys in the shipment. We stole one and delivered it to the Baron's chop shop, where Sledge made a contact.
Earlier, we tried to plant bugs in the car dealership. We were only partially successful. We did steal two getaway vehicles, a Nightsky that Vega abandoned in the Barrons, and a Eurocar Westwind that Han is keeping. Looks like the owner is another smuggler or something, as the car is rigger adapted and full of ECM, ECCM, and other electronic goodies. Vega is kicking himself, because he ditched the Nightsky
before checking it out.
That and some other stuff brings us up to the week of the deadline for delivering the orb. That's where we will pick up next time, so start planning...
It you don't get better soon, I will have to start calling

I'll be there.
Han spends his down time learning about his new car, and its electronics package. He is especially interested in the electronic countermeasures, and how to sanitize the car.
He also wants to learn more about the area and the gang. Who's who and what's what.
Swoop (aka. Sin) spends his down time practicing English and Etiquette. He has had so much trouble acquiring spell formulae in the past that he has decided on a new approach. As politely as he can, he asks the other mages in the group (the NPCs) what spells can they teach him, and what they want in trade.
Horizon and Diamond previously said that they would rather deal with the dragon than with the Johnson. Han and Swoop have no problem with that.

Swoop suggests a plan to Han and Vega, "How about we make our own Baron?"
"Huh!", says Han. "What are you talking about?"
"We need contacts, right? You want to get out of the Barrons, right? You want to buy stuff, right? We need a good Fixer. We need SINs, right?", says Swoop.
"Duh! Tell me something that I don't know".
"Why don't we just Influence somebody to be our patron? You know that I had this idea before, and there were all these reasons why it wouldn't work. I've been thinking about it some more, and have come up with a different idea.
"All we need is somebody with a SIN who will do whatever we want. I'm talking legal stuff. We don't need a rich somebody; we have our own ways of getting money now. It can be a poor somebody. Somebody down on their luck. Somebody with no family or friends. We can help her out financially (or him), and set them up.
"Maybe you can find an out of work mechanic, help him open up his own shop and get him to hire us. You could find a mechanic working at a shop that wants to open his own shop. The only requirements are 1) they have a SIN, 2) they can be influenced, and 3) nobody around to question their actions.
"It doesn't have to be a mechanic. We could look for somebody at a charity, a church, a welfare office, a hospital, an old folks home.
"What do you think?"
Han says, "You're ambitious, is all I can say. I don't know if we can pull it off.
"While you have been thinking up these grand schemes. I have been studying this jammer. I think I can copy it, and build another or four. Then we could have one in each vehicle. We could build a portable one to quickly install in any vehicle we 'acquire'. We could have one for the garage. If you can 'influence' somebody to buy the parts for us, then I'd be a lot more confident about your abilities."
Swoop answers, "Okay. Just keep in mind that I was hoping not to have to use Influence for everything. There is an old Spanish saying: Money is a good motivator; the lack of money is an even better motivator. Help me find the right pigeon, and the rest should be easy.
"What do the rest of you think?"
