I'm assuming it's time to go clubbing as a cover while we discuss what happened so I'll chuck a post up inna sec of Aero getting ready to head in, so jump in if one of you want to do something else first *8->

Don't assume. Post. smile.gif

Um ...

Are you going to actually respond to my comments, Fisty? Or am I typing to myself?

Typing to myself.
Oh oh oh
Typing to myself.
I'm typing on the board
But then I get ignored,
And I'll be typing to myself
Oh oh oh ...

Are you referring to the First Aid test follow up? If so, I'm sticking with my original call that it's either physical or stun. If you're referring to you lis tof Things to DO, take that up with your chummers. If I've totally missed some thing... be more specific smile.gif

[ Spoiler ]
Fortune
I was referring to the First Aid thing. It would have been polite to respond. nyahnyah.gif biggrin.gif

Not to push the point, but I wouldn't mind feedback on my argument on the wording however, as I truly believe it would not be possible to use the word 'and' in the particular piece of text (at least not worded the way it was) without causing all kinds of confusion.

I also fail to see how it is reasonable that a person with 1 box of Physical and 1 box of Stun could not heal himself fully with a First Aid test, being that only one test is allowed.

Or, do you allow one First Aid test for each Physical set of wounds and another First Aid test for the Stun? In my opinion, this is a reasonable compromise (if I'm not mistaken, this is how you originally envisioned the skill as working, or was that Callidus?).

And thank Billy Idol for the rhyme. I just paraphrased. biggrin.gif
Critias
Sorry, still here. Had a busy weekend, made all the worse by our fumbling around while trying to get a new wireless router hooked up (which led to us being non-internet-capable for several horrible days). It had to wait for me to get back to work (aka, "right now, tonight") for me to be able to log on.
Callidus
Think it was me that thought you could do one First Aid for the Physical and then a second for the Stun, although I have to admit I've not tooth combed 4ed like I did for 3ed so my understanding of tricky points is not great *8->

I'm looking at this as what makes sense logically. If you've got a bruise on your arm from a chain, and a gunshot wound from a shot gun that's gushing blood (4 boxes pf physical damage) then you're going to be paying attention to the gun shot wound. That fat bruise on your leg is oging to get regulated to "Ouch, shit that sucks. Think I'll stim patch that and stop myself from bleeding." I just don't see someone logically pushing to fix a bruise when they're still bleeding. Especially when there's really no way to fix a bruise, you can only treat the pain.
Fortune
It's cool. I ain't arguing to get you to change your mind (well ... not really biggrin.gif).

It is more to the fact that I think it somewhat not-logical where you see logic. If we are going to base a decision on the use of one word ('or'), then you should choose 'set' instead. First Aid can be used once on each 'set' of wounds. Clearly you are delineating between Stun and Physical in your ruling, therefore each of those different kinds of wounds would be their own 'set', and each would therefore be valid for First Aid use. smile.gif
DTFarstar
I would like to point out just for contrarinesses sake that there are actually several ways to lessen possible trauma and future pain from a bruise. The easiest is to slap(or inject if you are desperate) anything that will restrict blood flow to the area. Not really trying to say one way or the other, but I allow people to, if they have the hits, to move on to healing stun after they first aid off the physical.

In case that was poorly worded, in the case you mentioned where someone has 4P from a shotgun wound and some stun from something else. Once they finish pouring a clotting agent and packing and bandaging the wound properly(the first 6 hits) if they feel up to it they can completely salve down the bruise and massage the tissue around the bruise to stimulate the flow away from it. (however many other hits they have)

That is just the way I run things, not saying you should just throwing out my point of view and be informative.

Chris
fistandantilus4.0
I fail to see the problem with slapping on a stim patch, as that negates the wound modifiers, and the Stun will be gone in hours anyways.

As a side note, I did take someone else's good advice, and invited DT/Chris here into the game, as the good Doctor Funk-a-delic has been sadly absent lately. Crhis? Wanna come over and play?

Callidus
Hehe, come on DT we need a party troll.... biggrin.gif he'll get on with us like a house on fire.... literally *8->
DTFarstar
That was a little low, Fortune. =P

Anyway, yeah, I'm interested, of course. I mean, I lurk like crazy around here. Talking things over with Fist right now. Sadly enough it looks like I'm going to follow the trend and be an elf. Damned pointy-ears are so prevalent in this game.

I agree that a stim-patch would generally work fine and I wasn't talking from numerical superiority or anything, just from personal experience/first aid training/semi-empirical research of my own. I doubt most people with First Aid and no real medical training would know half the stuff I said, it's not that common knowledge, most people think all you can do for a bruise is take some pain meds(stim patches) and move on with it. Since they are generally minor it just doesn't come up much and generally if you have enough bruises to be a problem they are the least of your worries. I mean really, how many elves get into pillow fights with cyber-up trolls? Outside of SR you generally won't see a full stun track with little to no physical damage that is caused by bruising.

Anyway, not sure where the hell I was going with that. Yes, I'm interested. I'm not sure when Fist plans to introduce me, though I do have an idea, but I should think it would not be a problem to have my character done either tonight or tomorrow night.

Oh, one last little thing about the First Aid, I think the reason I don't limit First Aid to one track or the other- besides the empirical reasoning presented earlier, and gods above don't get me started I've thought of so many more reasons and examples. I hate the way my mind works sometimes- is that if someone gets a REALLY good roll, I don't like to make part of it useless. Most people don't have the dice in First Aid to deal with severe physical wounds AND stun at the same time. And the times when they can reliably first aid both minor stun and physical away... well, chances are they could have bought the hits on a healing test after an hour anyway.

So, anyway, yeah, I'm working on it. Need a couple more things from Fist, any requests besides troll? I've got several ideas a brewing, so if you think of anything we really need I'm sure I can fit it in, and if I don't... then it probably conflicted pretty hard with my character concept. I'm flexible, but only so far.

Chris
DTFarstar
Oh yeah, I'm also intrigued to find out whose "good advice" you took. I've never played on here, really, so I don't know who it could be. Doc I guess, he received a character submission from me once... Alysha hasn't played with me, but we've talked. I have no idea. Who was it?

Shrug.

I asked a number of times for feedback on the points I had made, but got next to no response other than an empirical 'no'. This after saying that I wasn't arguing the decision, but merely looking for discussion on the matter.

I had recently seen that very style of discussion elsewhere, and felt the need to share. smile.gif
DTFarstar
I hadn't looked at it in quite that way before... Fisty! You got some 'splainin' to do!

Heh, anyway, just got a PM back from Fist and I'm balancing between an ex(or failed I haven't decided- with our karma level failed might be more realistic) Paladin from the Tir- loyal to the true rulers of the Tir and not these upstart halfers and worms, or an adept mechanic- cocksure and a genius with any kind of tools as well as being a decent blade(or he might fight with a big wrench- that always amuses me with mechanic characters) you don't want to be around this guy when Arsenal comes out. Well, I mean you would if he was modding stuff for you. Genius mechanists/chemists/etc. don't come along too often as friends.

I think they would both be fun to play, one more hot-headed and opinionated, the other an absentminded genius with anything mechanical.

Hmm....

Fortune, most of the time we end up 'debating' something, it ends up with you sticking to your point, and me sticking to mine. I hate to go in with the "because this is my understanding of it" because that reeks of 'because I said so'. But when we 'debate' it always ends up being you sticking to your point come hell or high water, and me sticking to mine, or occassionally conceding or grudgingly giving up the ghost. I didn't want to do that again.

DT - it should be noted BTW that you don't have to pay the BP cost for being an elf in this game.

Will be working graves over the weekend so my posting will be a bit slower. Will come back up again at the start of the week. FYI.

So... wacha guys doing at the club?
Fortune
Standing around outside at the moment.
DTFarstar
Since I want to go to sleep and Shadowrun took longer than I thought tonight- also my roommate bough Assassin's Creed- and I want to get up and exercise before I eat chinese in the morning I'm going to put the virtual pen down and work a little more tommorrow, from the way Fisty is talking I'm assuming I'm not in the club and won't slow things down by taking another day or so. If I'm wrong let me know soon and I'll post what I have as soon as possible.

Also looks like I'm more likely going with the Ex-Paladin/Failed Paladin. I don't know though, the engineer has much more growth potential. Without being a cliche it is hard to really grow the Paladin at all with the way life has shaped him.

Chris
fistandantilus4.0
Go all the way with the cliche. Make it a bad D&D reference and say you turned away from being a Paladin, and your new street name is Blackguard. cool.gif

Ok, so crew at the bar: are you going in, scratching balls outside, shooting dice, what?
Fortune
We're all waiting for someone else to post. wink.gif

Actually, I think we all assumed that you'd post the entry, since you are setting the tone. So why don't you take us to the bar/booth/table/alcove and then we can be free to take it up again with all the relevant factors in the open?
Callidus
Well I was either waiting for someone to agree with Aero's move towards the club or the commcall to finish for us to organise shooting Vixen in the head repeatedly *8->

DT anything you wanna play would be cool, as for my, very pathetic 2p (cents for the non-UK.... oh wait that's everyone but me, I think *8->) a techie is always handy as we don't really have one at all at the mo (could be wrong with the hidden char sheets and all *8->), another spellslinger is always good too as 2 is better than 1 (and I don't know if Tain or Claymore are casters at all.... hmmm assensing knew I forgot to do something *8->), and as a mage meatshie.... sorry combat types are good too (less bullets for me please *8->), oh and a face type can't be bad, we seem to be the more 'I'm gonna rip your face off!' types than negotiating.... although again any or all of us *could* be *8->

Hmmmm, think I'm gonna stop there as I think I might have covered all the archetypes *8->
Fortune
If you want an Intimidation test, just let me know and I'll add a spoiler to the IC post. wink.gif
DTFarstar
Fist, beyond sending it to you do you want me to post an intro piece on the my character anywhere? Obviously you want to be the only one with the character sheet, do you want any specific format or just something readable? Also, I'm still working out the character sheet, but if you don't want a preliminary background/write up here would you like me to e-mail you one?

Chris
Fortune
We all posted a description and brief, highly-edited synopsis for our characters.
DTFarstar
Not to be offensive, of course, but... are you always here? You seem to hang around about as much or more than I do.

Brief description and synopsis it is then. I'll refine it and shorten the story of his life a little, if need be. I'm pulling an all nighter to get my sleep schedule back on track, had a BAD week last week with my migraines and it got my days and nights all turned around.

Pretty much. I don't sleep, and have no life, so ... biggrin.gif

I'm thinking the 'life story' is the kind of thing Fisty wants kept private. He's striving for a game where the PC's motivations and allegiances are not necessarily open knowledge to the other Players (or their characters).
DTFarstar
Yeah, I sent him a PM with a brief history of Dar'ian "Haven" Firkin (Cookie to someone who gets the reference though the character isn't remotely similar and I happen to just like the name)

I will work on getting something acceptable up here, not only would you guys not know alot of the stuff I sent to Fist but I seriously doubt any of you want to read an over 2 page long word document about my character. Still tweaking it too. Now I just have to get the numbers right.

Chris
DTFarstar
[Subject to Fisting and thus may change radically]

Dar'ian "Haven" Firkin - You've all met Dar'ian, whether it was a special bomb for a job, a tricky firearm, or a cough in your bike you just couldn't work out with the normal methods you have probably had him fix something for you or at least know someone who has. You don't know much about his background, just that his Dad was a member in good standing till the day he died when his bar exploded and that there are rumors Dar'ian used to be a little- some whispers say alot- crazy. Past rumors aside, Dar'ian is a 6'2 wiry elf who is typically seen dressed in loose black overalls with a green Ancients' symbol on the breast pocket like a logo unless he's actually out and about away from his machines. Then he generally sports bikers leather pants, a t-shirt- predominately with some kind of science joke you just don't get-, and an armored jacket sporting the Ancients' logo on the back and two green suns on the front, one over his heart, and one mirroring it on the opposite side. Fronting a generally genial attitude to all Ancients and Tarislar residents, Dar'ian has a mechanics shop called the "Farhaven" where he does the occasional odd job for the community and generally fixes or helps soup up Ancients vehicles. It is rumored he will do anything he can for you at cost if you bring him a unique problem or idea. It is also rumored that if you really need a place to hide out or something(not someone) to disappear then you can swing by Farhaven and he will help you out.

I read one of the first two, but can't recall which one. I'm not all that much of a Lackey fan, and the book didn't leave much of an impression, to be honest. The name stuck though, and with a touch of prompting it came right back to me through the power of Google. biggrin.gif

Just as a warning, I was in for surgery on my foot today, nothing major, and I was hoping it wouldn't effect my posting but being harder than I thought to be at the PC so I might be low on posting for a couple of days but hopefully not, if nothing else Aero will be hacking the comm (badly *8->) and so at least distracted but trying to pay attention so don't hold back on my account.

Sorry for the long quiet guys. Just found out some big news.
[ Spoiler ]

Very excited, but as expected it's also taking up a lot of personal time at the moment. I work tonight, but I'm planning on getting in some realy morning posting when I get off. Very sorry for the wait.

DT will get back to you on the character. I need to PM you the general 20Questions sheet. And as Fortune helpfully pointed out, we're keeping character details close to the vest until they come out IC in this go-round. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier, I've been abit scatterbrained for the last week.

Congrats dude. Give my best wishes to Alysha. smile.gif
