Hi!
Fortune - No you handle your damage mods based on your own wares. I'll just give you your base such as with Crit earlier.
Calldisu - yup, them speed boys have extra IPs. It's a Wired worled my friend. Wait ... no it's wireless... wait ... but they have wires... but it's wireless *wanders off into paradox*

Welcome.

I wanted to start this game off with an action/dice rolling scene to get a few things out of hte way. First, I hate starting games with a meet, as it's like starting with a staf infection. It just seems to kill everthing it gets a solid grip on.
Second, I've ran a game with Callidus, so he knows a bit of what to expect from me. The rest of you, not so much. So I wanted a chance for everyone to have some idea of what to expect, both from my style and each others. Feedback is appreciated and encouraged, even if you don't agree with how I handle something. I might not
change how I handle something, but I'd rather you speak up than be quietly upset.

This isn't in response to anything. Just a general 'so ya' know'.

Ouch!

Actually, not
all that bad. with the 1P/1S he previously took, this makes it 4P/2S, for a -1 modifier.
Someone's gonna die!
Posting ...
Action is good! More action! This is a ganger game, after all!

Edit: Actually, I have a bit of a problem with changing the Warhawk from SA to SS (and Claymore owns and
uses Warhawks fairly often!). It's already the best heavy pistol as far as damage is concerned, and that one single drawback gives it a bit of flavor. All revolvers are SS in Shadowrun, and always have been.
Fortune
Dec 15 2007, 02:28 AM
So, I figure the first shot is a Simple Action by itself as normal, and the second shot is a shared Simple Action with the throw (similar to dual wielding) with a split Dice Pool for each action. Let me know what you think.

I'm just having trouble keeping up and rollign with a few of the calls 'cause I'm still pretty new to the system -- so I'm trying to be all nerdcore "by the book" and when I get a curveball tossed at me I'm forced to question my faith in my (already limited) understanding of the rules.
So all my "wait, I thought I could have more knives!" and "wait, that gun's SS!" and stuff is just me making decisions based on what's in front of me, and then having those decisions kind of backfire. I specifically went for the knives because I "knew" I could ready Reaction/2 of them, and throw them for Simple Actions, whereas I "knew" my handgun was SS only -- and then, instead, I got to ready one knife, and a bad guy got to shoot that same handgun at me twice, y'know? I'm already rocky on how stuff works and trying to make the best decisions I can to keep characters alive, yadda yadda yadda, and then when stuff gets flip-flopped on me like that it's a little irritating.
But...*shrugs* Whatever. I'm here to play, and I'm not dead yet or anything. So I'll just go murder trolls with my sword and call it a good day.

Here's hoping that's number 4. I hate to leave one just pissed off and with a knife in his neck, but (1) it seemed like overkill to Charge him if he's already that hurt, and (2) I don't know how much it sucks to be two-on-one in a melee in SR4, but I know the modifiers could quickly buttrape you in SR3 so it's my reflex to dogpile in if a buddy's in a lopsided brawl.

Anyone got any big holiday plans? I'm finally getting a day off (we get 6 paid holidays a year, and I have to work 4 of them) and then I'm getting an unpaid day off the day [i]after[/] the holiday (because some corporate bigwig wants to "save money" by making us all stay home).
So, yeah. Four day weekend! Woo!

Me an' the missus are exchanging gifts (how lucky am I to have a wife that likes it when I get her comics for Christmas?), and taking the drive to visit my mom and stepdad -- other than that, yeah. She's not even off work or anything (being a nurse). I'm just glad to finally get a paid holiday like a normal schmuck, and to have two extra days to lounge around and...
...hrm. I was gonna say "play whatever video games and watch whatever dvds I get" but I guess I should probably get some more writing done instead. Every little four-cents-a-word will add up, to help pay off these gift-giving debts.

So ... ouchies, but not as bad as it could be.
[ Spoiler ]
8P - 5 hits = 3P ... -1P for Platelet Factories = 2P ... shift 1 to Stun.
Final damage result is 1P / 1S ... added to previous damage brings the total to 5P / 3S for a -2 Wound modifier.

Initiative[ Spoiler ]
I don't know what the hell I was rolling last time, but ...
Initiative 13 - Wound Mods 2 = 11 dice
-- 3, 3, 2, 3, 5, 4, 2, 6, 1, 1, 2 = 2 hits
So, Initiative is 15 {3 passes}.

I thought the one with the throwing spike wasn't out of the fight (but I wasn't sure what the grenade did to him), so I thought we had two left still proverbially kicking. |
We have the dude with the spike in his neck, who is the guy Claymore just shot at this latest action. Then there is the one that got thrown from the bike by the grenade (we haven't heard from him since). The rest are dead.
Incidently, I was going to have Claymore keep the grenade guy alive, if indeed he still is kicking and screaming (I would think so ... not much damage from a single grenade). We need to know who set us up.

Yeah, after that post and then rereading the IC one I picked up on it better. For some reason I thought you'd shot and ran at the same one, which threw me off.
And, well, yeah. That's why I wanted one alive, too. I just figured someone should actually think/say it

Irony -
The one with the spike in the neck is still alive. Crit/Tain bypassed him to assist with the axe wielding troll.
The one tosse from the bike is sitll alive and in very bad shape.
I've been using the Invisible Castle dice roller for the most part, and have decided that ti hates trolls too. Almost all the rolls have come up either 1 Hit or three hit, only Edge keeping the fight going as long as it has. You guys were fated to wipe the floor iwth these guys apparently.
Today was my last day of an AM shift. Switching to grave yards 4 days a week from here on out. Holidays are over. I'm pretty much out of excusses. Thank God.
Well, except that the lovely wife person got my KOTOR2, so I ran out and got KOTOR 1, neither of which I have ever played. Good times.

In what way does that differ, even in the tiniest detail, from what I said, both in this thread and the IC?

Claymore took a shot at the one with the spke in his neck, and ran toward the troll wounded by the grenade.

Now I'm confused!
As far as I know, this is how the battle has gone.
- Troll #1 - Unknown weaponry - Died first after Claymore went through window
- Troll #2 - Heavy Pistol - Died second with two shots to the head.
- Troll #3 - Spiked Chain - Just died at end of last turn under the dual assault of Claymore and Tain
- Troll #4 - Mossberg Assault Shotgun/ Combat Axe - Leader - Tain toasted him with his sword
- Troll #5 - Sawed off Remington 990 - Grenade blew him from bike - still alive as of round 2
- Troll #6 - Super Warhawk - Hit by spikes from Tain - just fired upon by Claymore - still alive as of round 2
So, what the hell is going on with your post?
fistandantilus4.0
Dec 30 2007, 05:37 AM
Troll #6 and Troll #2 are where we're misunderstanding each other then. My understanding was that you were firing on "the Ruger" troll. The Heavy Pistol guy wasn't carrying a ruger. I think from now on, in the spoilers, we'll have to include the Target # (i.e. Troll #2) . That'll make things good and clear.
Again, this is why we'r estarting out with combat. Work out the kinks.
Fortune
Dec 30 2007, 05:46 AM
I still don't understand. We are now (with Critias' and my last IC posts) at the beginning of round 2. There is only one troll standing (#6) and one troll smoking in a heap (#5). The rest are dead. Why would I fire on anyone other than the single, still standing target (#6)? Troll #2 was killed during the second phase of the first round (Claymore's second target), so isn't really a viable target. There are only two trolls alive (#5 and #6), both wounded, #5 with a spike in his neck (and a brand new gunshot wound from this last action), and #6 is (as you said earlier) in a bad way from the grenade blast.
fistandantilus4.0
Dec 30 2007, 05:52 AM
Then I misunderstood which one your target was at some point. #5 would die from the next shot, leaving the viable survivor as the troll that got hit by the grenade.
He's heavily damaged, and torn up, but holding steady at the damage he's at.
That work?
Fortune
Dec 30 2007, 05:57 AM
#6 will die with the gunshot.

#5 is the smoking heap ... which is where Claymore is currently headed.
Don't sweat it ... it's cool. I have been sitting here re-reading the thread for weeks in preparation for the next post, so have a slight advantage over you, who actually have a real life.

Dec 30 2007, 06:04 AM

Thankfully I think mine will be a bit more organized now. A big part of the issue I think is only being able to look at it breifly once a week or so. I've had problems like this (difference inplaying styles, how people like to wrok things out, etc) come up in other games before. WHich is why I figured it best to get through that particular growing pain right away.
