I'd like to buy a single hit for both of those and see if they are running anything dangerous. Then look around for the cameras, but don't do anything yet
for the security agent, the test is opposed.

Hardwire: Computer(4) + Analyze(5) + Technomancer(2) [2,6,1,2,3,3,3,3,1,2,6] = 2 hits
Security: Firewall(4) + Stealth(4) [4,2,4,3,4,2,4,2] = 0 hits

QUOTE (Sengir @ Jul 7 2013, 05:02 PM) *
And I added a little about HW's looks to the last IC post...gotta admit I found it a bit hard to make the description fit into the IC wink.gif
That works for me.
Redjack
Been nearly two week's since Charlie's player has been on Dumpshock. If he doesn't show up by the week end I'll go to step #1 and remote control him to move us forward.
Sengir
frown.gif
I'm holding back posting for now to not completely screw up the timeline...
Redjack
Well... He checked into Dumpshock yesterday, but no posts here...?
Saytr
Hmmm fast forward. Try a pm reminder just in case.
Redjack
Yea. Sent that days ago. No answer.
Saytr
Moving forward then I guess.
Sengir
OK, I moved forward. Given HW's tremendous social skills, I hope "Charlie" will chime in to make that a teamwork test...

Did they really not have any cameras, or just a beefy Matrix security?

INT 5 + Perception(Visual) 4 - Sustaining CF 2 = 7 dice to look for cameras

Charlie is lacking in social skills as well.

QUOTE (sr4a)
Obscured/Small/Muffled - 3 - Item dropped under table, contact lens, whispering
Hidden/Micro/Silent - 5 - Secret door, needle in haystack, sub-vocal speech
There is a subtlety placed camera over the reception area.

Logic(4) + Defaulting[ Physical Security](-1) [2,2,6] = 1 hit
It is logical to assume that there may be more, less obvious cameras, given the security rating of the area.

Matrix Security(5) + Logic(4) = [5,6,5,3,6,1,2,5,2] = 5 hits
Matrix security design would dictate that a second, hidden node, would control the physical security components. There might be yet 3rd node for monitoring matrix security and perhaps even other nodes that specialize in other functions. Mapping from whatever node controls matrix security would help with those details. In some cases, attempting to directly access with the wrong level (too high or too low on the initial connection) of security credentials may trigger an alert. Additionally, some node require mutual signal range or even a physical connection, though the latter would probably not be a precaution here, unless it is a base of operations for organized crime or the like.
Redjack
@Hardwire:
I need a roll: Charisma(5) + Con(-1) + Neutral(0) + Sustaining(-2) + Wrong Look(-2)
..and that DP does not look good.
Redjack
Charlie
Infiltration(4) + Agility(4) + Improved Infiltration(2) = [3,1,5,2,4,5,2,2,6,4] = 3 hits
Con(-1) + Charisma(2) [2] = 0 hits
Saytr
i think you guys might be having to buy your way in..or out of a jam. lol
Redjack
If nothing else, Hardwire does have 2 edge dice and a pre-spend opens up the 6's.

Thieves these days...and HW just has Charisma 3, so even when dropping the Thread it looks like a Long Shot: 2d6.hitsopen(5,6) → [2,[6, 6, 1]] = (2) (if you don't use rule-of-6 for Long Shots, looks like I just spent 2 Edge)

I just slipped a line and looks at Intuition.

Rule of six does not apply to Long Shot rolls... however, your kinda screwed by dropped into a scene you aren't ready for when the other player vaporized so I'm gonna give it to you.

@Charlie
Edge(4) [2,4,4,3] = 0 hits
Bad Luck [4] - Bad luck does not express

As a point of note, as I roll Charlie out, I will be rolling in Bob. Human, cyber, mage, face, detective. (Played by phlapjack77)
Saytr
Cool
phlapjack77
Glad to be joining! smile.gif

Now to just read all the backstory OOC and IC...welp, not getting much work done today...
Saytr
welcome. it will be all good.
phlapjack77
Just a fair word of warning: Bob is not going to be confused with a min-max build by any stretch of the imagination smile.gif
Sengir
I think neither do our characters, so welcome aboard smile.gif
Sengir
By the way, we should invest into a tacnet some time. Not for the bonus, but so that everyone on the team can hear and see what the others do.

You can spin up a simple form to create a "teamnet": Kind of a conference call on steroids + white board + video feeds + various shared windows. Lacks the tactics smart frames of a tacnet so no bonuses.

Okay, a classic episode of "hacker in the bathroom stall" hopefully coming up later today, in the meantime I'm looking for anything suspicious about the locker, a camera (I'm assuming cameras in lockers have bcome the norm), and a fire exit in case things go south...
Sengir
Welcome to the bathroom hacker's den:

As his perception shifted to the data of the Dragonfly's sensor array, he could sense the flow of matrix traffic around him even more directly than with his own senses

Capture Wireless Signal action with Radio Signal Scanner (counts as Sniffer prog) 6 + EW 2 + HotSim 2 = 10 dice, need 3 hits:

Meh
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4141647/
Bloody hell, I'll use the other Edge

As one might have expected, wouldn't have needed it biggrin.gif

QUOTE
He quickly pulled a Track form from the Matrix and set after the trail, soon making out the security node which was the target of the transmission

Threading: RES 5 + Software 4 + HotSim 2 = 11d6.hits(5) → [3,2,6,1,3,3,2,3,6,5,4] = (3)
Assume 3 hits, soak 3 S Fading: 10d6.hits(5) → [3,1,4,4,5,4,5,3,4,4] = (2)
-> 1 box stun DMG, running Track 3

Computer 4 + Track 3 + HotSim 2 = 9 starting dice, total 45 dice rolled, plenty for tracking the connection

QUOTE
He felt a slight strain on hit meat body as he dispersed the code traces of his Persona even deeper in the background noise, but the euphoria of hacking made him pay little heed to this. True to his paragon, he eviscerated the node's defenses in no time and stepped inside.

Drop Track
Thread Stealth, RES 5 + Software 4 + HotSim 2 (11d6.hits(5)=7)
Using three hits from Threading, soak with RES 5 + INT 5 (10d6.hits(5)=2)
-> 1 box physical, total 1 box on each CM, running Stealth 8

OTF Hacking for security account, again assuming FW 4 + Analyze 4 on the node:
Hardwire starts with Hacking 5 + Exploit 5 + Paragon 2 + HotSim 2 - Sustained CF 2 = 12 dice; Needs 4+3=7 hits
Node starts with Firewall 4 + Analyze 4 = 8 dice; needs 8 hits
Round 1, 3/7 vs 2/8
Round 2, 7/7 vs 4/8

Success! Who's present inside the node?
Redjack
Hardwire: Matrix Perception on the node: Hardware(4) + Analyze(5) + Hot Sim(2) + Sustaining(-2) + Technomancer(2) [1,5,4,4,5,6,1,1,1][3,4] = 3 hits
1) Who is in the node? (Interpreted to list: Users, agents, IC, AI & sprites) - answered IC.

As this is a PBP game, I'm gonna keep working through things in a more descriptive fashion. Should you want to know details about icons you can roll (or buy hits, outside of combat) about icons. For the node itself, you have two more questions based upon your Matrix Perception for it.
Sengir

1) Who is in the node? (Interpreted to list: Users, agents, IC, AI & sprites)

Basically just the persona list you gave me for free last time wink.gif

OK, two questions for the node
- Which programs are running?
- Are there node scripts attached to certain actions (like "launch IC when the resident Analyze gets terminated")?

PS:
Buy two hits against the IC for its program list and to see if it's indeed on standby. And to get back a few posts, what is a "simple form" and where is the fire exit I had HW looking for?
Redjack
Gonna be off the grid until Sunday 8/4. No Internet access.
Sengir
It's friday night and I'm a little bored, so I figured I'd simply post ahead how things would play out if matrix security is not too complicated. If RJ has something else planned, consider it a roadmap for what should happen after security is dealt with wink.gif

If things play out as posted, checking whether this specific locker door is wired to an alarm sounds like the the classic GM eyes only roll, so no Analyze roll here...
Saytr
Its all good. I was hoping you would do some poking around.
Sengir
I was thinking about doing some major rummaging through the system, but it seems tactically unwise when sitting unarmed and alone in a bathroom stall. And also unfair to Phlapjack, if the first thing he can do in our game is twiddle his thumbs while the hacker does stuff wink.gif

So the plan right now is to proceed to the mystery locker and finally find out what's inside, the data dump on the gym and its members can wait.
phlapjack77
I appreciate the consideration smile.gif
Redjack
Ok. GM is back for the river and ready to roll. Work schedule is kinda wonky this week, but I'm trying to get posting in. Gen Con is next week and once that starts up I doubt I've be around much, so its on again, off again, on again, off again, on again...
Saytr
It's all good. Looking forward to being able to get Val's belongings lol.
Redjack
Ok. Bob is on scene. GM creative liberties will be in play here. If you haven't figured out, Mitch Long may be Bob's unicorn... Though some day he may actually find the right Mitch Long.
phlapjack77
It's cool - now maybe Bob'll have some friends who can help keep those thugs off his back smile.gif

*edit*

Just re-reading the last few of Bob's OOC threads - there was some confusion about the char sheet (totally, totally my fault). Can you please send me a pdf or whatever you have for Bob so that I can make sure my char sheet matches? I'll play by that.
Sengir

Compile R 3 Fault Sprite Resonance 5 + Compiling 5 + VR 2 + Paragon modifier 1 → [5,1,2,1,3,5,4,5,1,3,4,5,2] = (4)
Sprite rolls Rating 3 [1,2,1] = (0) Critglitch!
Resist Fading with Resonance 5 + Intuition 5 [5,2,1,2,2,4,2,3,3,6] = (2)

Cleaning the log myself (and inserting a message about the fake update), what remains fro the Sprite is purging all Resonance signatures and starting the resident program again

PS:

Since Val gave me the key, he did not follow that advice, right?

For the moment, this is going to seem like a paradox. To the player, I will simply tell you it is not and you should reasonably quickly learn why not. For the character, that is your call.

Bob
- Etiquette(1) + Charisma(2) + NPC is neutral(0) + Desired result of no value(0) + Character doesn't have the right look(-2) [4] = 0 hits

www...yay!

With such a great roll, can Bob catch a glimpse of anything like a company directory, maybe some kind of AR made available by the gym? Or also, did the receptionist act like she recognized the name?
Sengir
Hmmm...can I turn around the cam or something so the mystery locker remains out of sight? Are there others in the room?
Redjack
Bob
The results of Bob's perception test are on Val. The lockers are not visible.

This is a great skill and comes to good use right about... now!
- Shadow Community(2) + Intuition(5) [1,4,5,6,3,3,5] = 3 hits
Sengir
OK, forget about the cameras since I will raise a ruckus anyway (unless Val instantly figures out how to disable it). But are there any bystanders in the room?

PS: Do I/we get a perception test for further security (tripwire attached to the bag etc.)?
Redjack
QUOTE (Saytr @ Aug 10 2013, 10:54 PM) *
Val handles the bag gently but quickly just enough to run his hand under and around the bag to make sure there isn't any wires connected "amnesia!" Wide eyed looking at hardwire than the bag and to the exit " go!"

Val attempt to hold the bag and lead the charge to safety out of the locker room and back to the van.
Do you understand the lock mechanism is on the duffel bag...?
Redjack
QUOTE (Sengir @ Aug 10 2013, 03:26 PM) *

Yes

QUOTE (Sengir @ Aug 10 2013, 03:26 PM) *
PS: Do I/we get a perception test for further security (tripwire attached to the bag etc.)?
Sure, but let me get a confirmation from Satyr that Val is carrying the duffel bag (device and all) out the door.
Saytr
Oh it attached to the bag. Hmmm. Scratch that, lol. Ill edit my ic post I thout it was attached to the locker. Val will try the different keys in his com that lucky initially found and Athena said were in his come.
Redjack
Give me an IC post for next steps, but do not post Hardwire past seeing Bob. wink.gif
phlapjack77
Sorry for being absent the past few days.

Awesome!

F5 Thought recognition on receptionist: 4 hits
2P drain resist: 2 hits, no drain

Looking for knowledge of Mitch Long and/or Val
Redjack
Give me an OOC of where you're going and I'll post up. Still at Gen Con, so probably not till Sunday or the middle of next week. I'll catch Karma awards up and well; this seems like a good spot.
Saytr
Cool beans I figure head back to lucky's place to get our gear and bikes back. On the way there val will look through the bag.
Sengir
Lucky's (for Phlapjack, the guy we borrowed the van from) sounds like a good plan. Maybe my rigger contact also knows a route which is usually not patrolled by traffic drones, just in case somebody at the gym called LS...
