McQ - Can you give me a clearer answer on their foci? I was looking for any foci, and expecting weapons, not only looking for weapon foci.
BishopMcQ
Jul 19 2006, 06:58 PM
Sparky--They have no foci.
Shadow--You'd soak 10S impact if you just jumped out of the truck and it would drive until it stopped or hit something.

Sorry, I keep meaning to ask in my lamer-I-don't-know-SR3-at-all way... what do I roll for opposed melee (for everyone)? Or you can roll it. I trust ya.
Fenris
Jul 25 2006, 07:38 PM
4 tests, each test consisting of dice equal to your Melee skill (and in this case, plus weapon focus rating). You can add as much combat pool as you like, but keep in mind you're rolling 4 tests in the same phase, and the pool is not going to refresh until the next combat round, and there could be up to 4 combat turns in this round. Additionally, you'll be rolling your skill again when your action comes up to attack them.
Their attacks = 4 rolls + Your attack = 1 rolls x 3-4 phases = 15-20 combat rolls before combat pool refreshes. And that's assuming you don't take the +2 modifiers per opponent to attack more then 1 opponent with each complex action. Could be upwards of 24-32 sets of rolls per round if you're doing that.
Your base TN is going to be 4. You have two points of reach, which you can assign to either reduce your TN or increase their TN by +1 per each point of reach (assuming they don't have close combat, which they probably do. If they have close combat, your reach bonuses will be negated).
The second attack to come in will have modifiers for friends in melee. Effectively, you'll have a +1 to your TN, and they'll have a -1 to their TN. This will increase for each additional opponent until your allies can act to actually engage in combat. So, the 4th roll coming in is going to have a +3 to your TN and a -3 to their TN.
Information you need from McQuillan is whether or not they're using close combat, because that will modify your TN's and decide whether or not you'll want to use karma.
Personally, my suggestion is to spend whatever you can in the first round or two to try and kill them outright. The longer the fight goes on the worse it's going to get for you because all your allies but Herne can be dropped fairly easily by a skilled combatant, and they're you're only way of negating the massive "friends in melee" penalties.

Damage: 14M
Window has a barriar rating of 4 (adjusted rating of 8 ). Power of attack is twice the adjusted barrier rating, so for every 2 points over base barrier rating a 1/2 meter hole is opened (2.5 meter hole) and the barriar rating is reduced by 1 (total -5), barrier destroyed.
Second shot at ghoul with hammerhead arrow at nearest ghoul (TN 6): 09 09 08 05 05 05 04 04 03 03 02 02 02 (3 successes)

Oh no... the whip is talking?
That can't be good. Did stun damage kill that guy? Is it possible to pull punches? Because if so I would have wanted to. She is expressly not out to kill. If there is nothing to do by the rules (IE - enough stun can kill no matter what the intent) then that's... bad.
Anyway. You've probably seen it, but I'm out for the week. Will post as I can. Herne and the spirits are to stun damage any remaining bad guys. Edana will continue fighting until baddies are down and then move back into the room with Michael. There will probably be a call in here somewhere her lawyer contact.
BishopMcQ
Aug 1 2006, 08:18 AM
Stun rolls over. Effectively he took a Deadly wound and failed to soak, which caused 8 boxes of damage to come in. 4 filled in the Stun bar on top of the Serious he already had, the other 4 then rolled into the Physical bar killing him. If he didn't already have a Serious Physical, then it would have simply been a moderate wound. (Internal hemorraghing or deep tissue damage)
If you ever want to pull a punch, you can choose to withhold dice from a test, but you have to decide that before rolling any of the dice.

Hey all I talked with McQuillan last night to get the dirt from GenCon Indy and I mentioned converting this game to SR4 especially since they have Street Magic out now. Any interest?
HeySparky
Aug 16 2006, 12:02 AM
Totally interested!
BishopMcQ
Aug 16 2006, 06:31 AM
I'd ask who has access to Street Magic...
Right now I believe there may still be a few things that are lost in the conversion simply because not every ability has been updated for SR4. If people want to look at their characters and think about the conversion process we can talk about it over the next few days. For ease of continuity, I would probably continue in the same timeline, which will effect the Hackers and Technomancers (both of which are so prevalent in our group...
) and state that wireless access still is not available.
HeySparky
Aug 16 2006, 03:37 PM
I've got the .pdf of Street Magic. So I'll be reading it over the next few days and figuring out how Edana, Herne and the Uber-Whip-of-Astral-Annihilation fit into the picture.
Fenris
Aug 16 2006, 03:47 PM
I'd be more then willing. I think a number of abilities didn't carry over, but no biggie, there's new ones.
It's going to be a bit of an adjustment dropping down to the lower power level though. Just to double check, how much karma did the characters have at char gen again?
BishopMcQ
Aug 17 2006, 05:26 PM
Karma was left fairly vague...for the new comers it was make a character and we can adjust the power levels slightly.
For Edana, she was initially built at 100 Karma, earned 40 weekly karma from Chasing the Prize, plus some incidentals, and as of next week you will have earned a total of 52 more karma for Balance Due. Some of that was spent on Initiations and skill ups...
I'd be comfortable saying +200 karma and 50k after the initial 400 bp. Though because of the slightly skewed economy, the 50k may be lessened if people seem to have a lot more money and gear than the SR3 incarnations.
Buddha72
Aug 20 2006, 11:46 PM
So talked some more with
McQuillan about the thread and he said to run it all past you folks.
I would like to convert to SR4 (so I can start learning the system better and stop confusing myself switching back and forth) and then I would like to get us back on track with the storyline. I think we have 4 stable players now (
Fenris,
Sparky,
Shadow and me). Word on the street as they say is that
Shadow has dropped off because of moving and should be back to more regular posting afterwards.
So I would like to recruit one more player with the understanding that we are looking for a very committed player who can commit to posting at least once a week if not more. What I am looking for from you all is whether or not you have enough interest in this thread to do the work in a timely fashion and get it back on track. Sound off and let me know.
