QUOTE (Always Overkill @ Dec 23 2013, 02:39 PM)

Are new characters for Stormy Waters, not Tribes (Have a couple green runner concepts I am working on for that), using the standard Runner Priorities?
My one runner, Tresckow, is something of a veteran; he wouldn't build right on a street-level game.
Stormy waters is just the overall name for the persistent world OoC (basically because the prime runner game I've got planned for the future has a watery theme...that one's on hold though until more splat books are available...).
Within the overarching world we've got a variety of active sub threads going on (currently Circles of Power, Tribes and the general IC)
...and, just to whet the appetites before the holiday I thought I'd post the concepts for recruitment threads for the new year. Bear in mind I can't possibly run all of these (at least at once) so if you have a preference do yell and I will take that into account with which order I start these off.
Also if you know any budding GMs that would like to help out (or are one yourself) then that would be great!
I will repost each of these (possibly with amendments) in their own recruitment threads as they kick off. Any comments now can be taken into account which is another reason for giving you lot a preview.
Looking Glass [Runner level]
[ Spoiler ]
Typical runner game
I’m looking for a dedicated team of runners to take on a mission in darkest Bellevue! A mix of infiltrators, faces, hackers would be good alongside some fire support from street sammies or riggers.
In an attempt to avoid the blight of many pbp threads (players losing interest before any action starts!) I’m going to try something different here and pitch the players into the run mid-way through. Personally I’ve always enjoyed the meet and the planning stages but too many times in pbp it just drags the game to extinction

. There will be a chance for some OoC planning so that you aren’t completely in the dark but they do say that a plan never survives contact with the enemy anyway…

This will be an ongoing part of the master 2075 thread and character gen and rewards will be as per that thread…essentially it is normal gen + 1 free GM contact and you earn 1 karma and 2000¥ for every 2 IC posts you make (cumulative across any of my 2075 games!) which can be spent mid run (we can work out IC reasons for new equipment or increases to skills etc)…
So, if that sounds interesting the basic premise of the run is here:
[ Spoiler ]
Note: I’ll go into more details as we pick up players and begin to form a group
- A young lady called Summer met you in the matrix. Full ‘Alice in Wonderland’ motifs, including her persona
- She wanted you to head over to Bellevue to an exclusive (and secure) mental health facility on the edge of Lake Washington, there you would infiltrate the building and insert a new patient into the facility (alter patient records etc…)
- Up to you whether you take the patient in with you or arrange a transfer but Summer’s preference would be for him to have ‘always been there’ so that would involve rotating some staff around so that someone doesn’t do a double take and ‘I don’t remember you…?!?’
- As a bonus she has given you a list of names…if any of them are residents at the facility then extracting them would up your pay significantly. Just proving they are there will net you some reward
- So this is where you get a chance to interject some planning…
- …otherwise we’ll start the run when you are inside…
- …it might be better if the more hardcore gun bunnies are outside to bust you out
if when things go pear shaped! But that will be up to you to agree…
Character concepts can either be posted here or in the master OoC thread which will eventually be used for all the OoC once the game kicks off.
War Games [Stat Lite]
[ Spoiler ]
Stat Lite / Computer Game Style PBPing
Inspired by various games, Warhammer 40K, Cuthlutech, Eclipse Phase to name but a few, this game will plunge the players into a dark computer generated world within the heart of the Citadel Virtual Game. You will take on hordes of ravening cultists, depraved citizens, horrendous monsters, all in the name of a good story!
Rather than play a single character you will control a force of ground troops, perhaps focused on a single leader’s perspective to keep things manageable, with milspec kit inspired by various SR books (and any dark future setting that you can lay your hands on), off-site support, air cover… this is a chance to play with all those things that appear in SR4’s Arsenal and the like that your average runner never has a hope in hell of seeing!
Having tried a similar themed game in the past (Emerging: End of Days) and having it stall over dice rolling and rules (the bane of many pbp games), I want to try and do something different here.
Rather than worry too much about rules this is going to be more of a piece of creative writing, everyone having fun describing the actions of their characters in a cinematic way without worry about the nitty gritty of hit rolls and the like. I will do some notional GMing but as there are no real rules to officiate it will be more as a story guide than anything. You will have free reign to describe your troops and how well they pulp the foe, as well as how they deal with return fire (so a few red shirts are in order!). I will also encourage the PCs to throw wrinkles into the paths of their fellow players…either IC or OoC, and watch them rise to the challenge. This isn’t meant to be pvp, it’s just so that your fellows don’t get complacent! This way I get to play a bit too if I get the time

.
So that it is rooted in the VR game there are some very basic stats and options outlined below so that everyone is kind of on a level pegging when it comes to creating their protagonists.
Six points to spend, min 0 max 3 on the following categories (some sense may need to be applied to unusual combinations!):
Troop Skill Level [0-3]
0 Conscripts
1 Standard Forces
2 Specialists [multiply unit size by 0.5]
3 Elite [multiply unit size by 0.25]
Unit Size [0-3]
0 Platoon (approx. 50 troops)
1 Company (approx. 200 troops)
2 Battalion (approx. 1000 troops)
3 Regiment (approx. 4000 troops)
Support [0-3] Higher levels get the levels underneath too
0 None – you are on your own!
1 Battlefield Communications Team
2 Artillery and/or Air Support Units
3 Magic Support Group
In Game
EventsTo reflect the military nature of the game the group will get a number of points to spend on Events that will provide a tactical advantage at some point in the game or a ‘get out of jail free’ card (these don’t need to be predetermined).
(This has been cobbled from when we were doing a full rule set SR4 game so may be redundant now in a stat lite system)The type of points will be determined by the points spent in the categories above.
(Not sure how yet…also if you have any ideas for events then shout!)1 Point Event
- Unguided mortar strike (thermal smoke or similar to create a distraction or cover)
- Guided mortar strike (get some use out of those laser designators to rain fire on the foe)
- Friendly infantry unit (to provide some brief unexpected covering fire)
- Drone distraction (to set off alarms or draw fire)
- Emergency evac (for when the shit has really hit the fan, a suitable extract vehicle will pick you up)
- Battlefield jamming
- Minor illusions
2 Point Event
- Armour or helicopter gunship attack (Having a tank or chopper swing by at just the right moment…easier than using your man portable heavy weapons for a significant target)
- Air strike (Love the smell of napalm in the morning!)
- Matrix blackout (your comms team manage to blanket the area in smart jamming, hampering the foe)
- Spirit sortie
3 Point Event
- Artillery strike (sustained fire to obliterate a hardened target!)
- Ritual magic strike
So, leap into the virtual game and blast the foe! You can work together or apart as you like but you will be in charge of your own stories so don’t feel you need to wait for anyone!
Given the nature of the Citadel game as I have described it at various times, it would also be possible to use this game thread to play a fantasy war game,
modern SR5 era, etc, etc…
Improbable Youth [Stat Lite]
[ Spoiler ]
Stat Lite / Children PBPing
This is the least thought through one as you can probably tell…Inspired by various genres/themes (and Koekepan’s recent high school game), Cybergeneration, Buffy, X-Men, Harry Potter to name but a few, this game will plunge the players into a
mad world where children are the main protagonists (and be capable of the improbable stuff that we see in the films without being burdened by rules…!)
You will have free reign to describe your actions and how well they pulp the foe, as well as how you deal with
return fire. I will also encourage the PCs to throw wrinkles into the paths of their fellow players…either IC or OoC, and watch them rise to the challenge. This isn’t meant to be pvp, it’s just so that your fellows don’t get complacent! This way I get to play a bit too if I get the time

Limits [0-3]
Physical, Mental, Social
Personal Strengths [0-3]
Mundane, Magical, Matrix
Connections [0-3]
Mundane, Magical, Matrix
The game will be set (probably) in an exclusive X-men esque school that has gathered exceptional children from all walks of life together to train them for some obscure purpose. Unless any specific preference exists for it to be in Seattle (or elsewhere Stateside) I will probably set it somewhere in England (and perhaps tie it into my Circles of Power game).
