I've kind of lost track of time but I think we need to crash as well. At least some of us may need to.

Anyone who is on Long Haul has about 20 hours to go...

You guys should have raided Flintlock's bike for the other couple of doses.

Well we all know that Al's been trying to catch a few winks for a while now!
Problem is, I think there may be a clock running before the Feds get impatient and act before we do. And our crash-pad is seriously blown.
Of course, there's more room in the van now...
I think the easiest solution would be to just park somewhere out of the way and go for a 4-hour sleep cycle. Anyone still on Longhaul can make good use of the time doing data searches and/or a matrix scout of the clinic.
Just throwing out ideas.

Okay Amra - Pesto's got the wheel, so I can't really call it.
Grab some takeout, find a spot behind a truck stop, get some chow in us and lay low for a few hours of rest?
After that we can start the "work" of researching/scouting/planning our hit on the clinic.
...or...totally open to any other ideas. But we should do something, keep moving, keep things going...

I'll presume that a little down time and some food is on the agenda. What is your plan for recon? Drive by and look out the windows? Send in drones, some Sensor tests? Etc.
adamu
Sep 29 2008, 06:57 PM
Tough question to answer all in a rush - usually go in stages, each dependent on the previous.
With two matrix types - and even without them - first step is a thorough Data Search on the site, hopefully followed by some more detailed digging (especially hoping for floor plans, or better yet real architectural schematics).
That accompanied by chatting up of relevant contacts (if anyone has any - don't look at Al - he's new in town).
What exact recon follows largely depends on what we find from the anonymity of the matrix, though there are at least two major considerations:
1) The surroundings of the place - terrain, urbanization, security rating, etc.
2) Whether it has, and the nature of, its public activity - parts open to public, or always locked up tight, or whatever.
All that said, IC-wise, Al will generally go for quicker and dirtier over slower and carefuller.
Those are just my ideas. I am sure amra28 and DireRadiant have their own.

Bubbles can handle the matrix search and Pesto can send a drone on a scouting mission, probably something long range to start.

So - ummm - if no one has any objections I'd be happy to throw up an IC post just about stopping and getting some sleep and some chow.
Or anyone else could do it.
If I do it, any details anyone wants mentioned?
One thing that has held me back are things like, I don't know if Long-haul Bubbles will be sleeping or matrix searching, I don't know what people like to eat from Stuffer Shacks, I don't know if any of you even would risk sleeping among what are basically strangers. And so on.
In other words, seems like a harmless post, and needs doing, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes role-playing wise. Naturally barring input I will just write about Al, but it will be a pretty one-sided description.

Bubbles would happily sleep amongst strangers... but sleeping while on Long Haul is contraindicated.
amra28
Oct 8 2008, 01:56 AM
Pesto doesn't mind sleeping with the group, he always has something watching over him. We don't have to sleep if that is the concensus but since I am kind of sure that Pesto did not take the longhaul there will probably be penalties. If we do sleep we can just crash in a coffin motel.
adamu
Oct 8 2008, 10:31 PM
Al takes no demon drugs, so he so so so needs some sleep - some runners do the Jack Bauer thing, but since the Objective Observer asked for sleep/fatigue tests way back at the bar we burned, I figure the hammer is going to fall anytime now. So with two out of three survivors nodding off...
But roger on the feedback. Bubbles not sleeping - matrix scouting?????
Pesto prefers coffin to back of van.
No worries.
amra28
Oct 10 2008, 01:01 AM
The back of the van would be a bit crowded to sleep all of us plus the gear and not as comfortable. I kind of picture his van as more tools/drone gear and less people space.
adamu
Oct 10 2008, 11:05 PM
amra - thanks for that. Seriously, I am always thirsting for more detail on other PCs' appearances and mannerisms. And the van we are spending all of our time in, the more we all know about it the richer the game is!

Dire--While the rest of the team sleeps are you doing anything?
adamu
Oct 22 2008, 11:36 PM
So, I guess we are waiting on Dire.
Hey amra - if you feel so inclined, you could have Pesto wake up and come find Al in the diner. We could then role-play some IC chat over breakfast while we wait for Dire to declare actions.
Al likes to chat.

Unless Dire has other actions to take for Bubbles, push ahead to the wake up and regroup. I don't know what if anything Bubbles will tell the others.

Bishop -
can I assume the "remote detonators" we got are, in game terms, radio detonators? If they are some other type of remote detonators, e.g. optical or electrical, please do let me know.
Is there some sort of tech or knowledge skill test I can make to figure out what the vacuume sealer is for?
And I have scoured all my books but cannot find anything called an Ares LIL - any hints?
My dice stand ready if any of this stuff is not a freebie to know.
BishopMcQ
Oct 29 2008, 04:45 PM
Yes they are Radio detonators. Ares Low intensity laser (lil) is in Runner's Companion--in the smuggling chapter. The vacuum sealer is right next to it. (Also check SR4 for chemsniffers and explosives)
Knowledge skills would relate to Security Procedures, Security Devices, or Demolitions.
adamu
Oct 29 2008, 08:59 PM
Dammit - put Ares in front of a piece of gear and all I think of are weapons.
Teach me to bounce around in my new sourcebooks for the parts I'm interested in and not take the time to read them cover to cover.
So anyway, that pretty much answers all the questions I have about the gear we acquired at so high a price. But since you invite it, I will toss my Demolitions skill just in case you have more wisdom to share....
4 1 5 4 3 4 5 = 2 hits

You skipped right over that section? I feel hurt...oh well, I'll get over it.

(Though I'm surprised that you found the Anti-MAD Jammers and missed the others.)
Demolitions: With the gear provided, it looks like a covert ops kit. The additional gear is designed to bypass traditional security measures and get the explosives into a secured location.

Well you'd better get over it - that is the book that I love so much it has sucked away all the time I SHOULD be using to study Unwired for my players! Can't keep my fingers off of the damned book.
As for finding some of the toys and not the others, chalk it up to the fact that, between work and family, the ONLY time I have to look at it is when I am literally nodding off in bed.
Sleep deprivation does wonders for missing things.
Which is why I am so happy Al has now has had 40 winks!
Now it's time to get to the blowing things up part of the run!!!

Nov 4 2008, 04:19 AM
Dire/Amra--I just need you to post into IC, we'll get everyone synched and updated on Bubbles' recon. Then as Adamu put it, move on the the "blowing things up part."

Good to know.
So, are we cool to hook up with Her Glory and start torturing you with ten thousand questions about the target?
adamu
Nov 28 2008, 10:09 AM
Okay - I guess it wouldn't have to be 10,000 questions. I can forego a modicum of planning meticulousness.
But considering our depleted numbers, taking this place out (and hopefully scoring some intel first) without getting my precious character dead is going to have be done via clever plan, not brute force.
So we will need a fairly clear picture of at least the exterior before we go in.
And can you matrix types dig us up maybe some schematics?

Well - looks like one of those times when folk just got busy with stuff.
Me, this game is still my number one reason to be on these boards, but I always try to restrain myself for as long as possible before getting uppity and trying to light a fire under people.
This time I did pretty well - waited until both threads were totally off the boards! That dread moment came today - New Year's! A baneful portent for the annum to come.
So even though the last IC was mine, I added another just to get us back on the board.
Again, I really hope to see this game continue. I'm not around as much as I used to be, but I make a point up getting up to date on everything at least twice a week.
But there are only two other players left...I know amra28 has been checking in regularly - or at least on the board regularly. Dire I suppose is just super busy...
On the other hand, if I am just reviving what is doomed to pass, well, it'll suck but I try to hold my obnoxious eagerness to moderately civilized levels, so I won't whine too loudly.
I will say, though, that Al is my true and only favorite character and I've been at this game for almost two years mostly because it's fun but also cuz I'd like to see him progress a bit...don't mind waiting until the finish for some karma, but if there isn't going to be a finish, wouldn't mind a point or two for time served...

Happy to be patient. If there is even the slightest chance of this game continuing, I am in it to win it.
